A luxurious villa of very ancient origins, among the most famous by Lake Maggiore, is for sale in the stunning town of Belgirate, on the border with Stresa.
Its exclusive position directly by the lake, its 1,700 sqm of internal surface divided between the main house and the outbuildings, the private beach connected directly by an underground passage and the pier for private use contribute to the uniqueness of this property that belonged to the family of Napoleon III.
Dating back to the early 19th century, the villa was built in a late neoclassical style on the walls of a previous religious building for Mathilde Laetitia Wilhelmine Bonaparte, daughter of Jerome, Napoleon's younger brother. Subsequently passed into the ownership of the Russian prince Vladimir Andrevic Dolgorukij, the property was remodeled only at the end of the last century, while the big park that surrounds it has remained intact in its original design, conceived by Anatoly Demidov, husband of Mathilde and well-known enthusiast and builder of gardens, especially in Tuscany.
Its convenient natural location, in one of the towns of the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, ensures an always pleasant microclimate, while its strategic exposure, slightly oblique to the coast, has been designed to improve the panoramic view from any internal environment, rooms included.
Many of its architectural elements refer to the style in which the building was built: the neoclassical. The design of the façade is also strongly neoclassical, in which the symmetry of simple and elegant lines prevails, interrupted by windows that illuminate the rooms on the ground floor and the upper one, offering a wonderful lake view.
In the large park of 1.3 hectares that surrounds it, a wonderful Italian garden opens towards the calm lake waters, which can be accessed from a private passage under the road, next to a splendid big swimming pool, complete with a dedicated sunbathing area. There is no shortage of spaces dedicated to parking, thanks to a garage for six cars and a long driveway that crosses the garden, connecting the access road to the entrance of this splendid estate.

I'm not trying to sound pretentious as it's clearly a grand property- but what I love is the intimate scale of the rooms, it's lavish yet still has a human scale! I usually don't like this style but it is so well done, it's just a jewel.

Not even to the villa and I have the chills, I am amazed at the visceral sensations I am getting at the intro, now at the dock, I feel a settling. Wondering how many gardeners are needed for this beauty. The floors, the cellars and those chandeliers! Love the kitchen, and I would want that upstairs suite for an art studio! The veggie garden is very nice, and thank you for introducing me to a weeping oak. Love, so well done. It’s a sad day for me, so I am extremely glad for a bit of beauty to sustain me through the next few steps of letting go of someone I dear love. Beauty heals.

6 years ago, i did a tour of Italy which included a few days in Stresa on the shores of Lake Maggiore. It was the one of the most gorgeous places I've ever seen.
i always swore that i would buy a property there if i could ever afford it.
i think this place is unbelievably stunning and the interior decor is amazing. The entire property feels like you would be transported back to a time when the world was a very different place.

OMG, buy this villa and you too can be an emperor! OK, the interiors are a little too French for me, but if you can afford this property I think you can afford to change the furnishings. But what a great location and the gardens are spectacular. And an interesting style of architecture for Northern Italy, again with the French influence. What a stunning property. I love the secret tunnel that connects the waterfront quay under the road to the garden, great idea! I love Lake Maggiore, but the property is just a little to big for me, so I can't put in an offer at this time... 😂 Ciao xx

This is incredible...
Normally I'm more drawn to the more modern or quirky types of properties, but this is classically beautiful at every turn.
You'd need an awful lot of stuff to make it look like a home inside, and the current decor suits the property wonderfully.
If I had the money to buy the place, my only worry would be that a scruffy git like me would look out of place in there! I can make Armani look like a bin bag from a charity shop 😃

Normalmente me sobran las palabras para decir lo que me provoca cada propiedad, sin embargo, en esta ocasión literalmente me quedé sin ninguna, pensé: "la propiedad de mis sueños", pero no lo es, porque la de mis sueños está en el Lago de Como, esta propiedad está más allá de lo que pudiera imaginar, una mezcla hermosa de la elegancia y belleza de siglos pasados apoyadas por la historia, y una delicada y cuidadosa restauración con toques sutiles de actualidad. Ciertamente, puedo decir que para mí, es la propiedad más hermosa, elegante y sofisticada que he visto hasta ahora en este canal, si bien hay otras que son hermosísimas o elegantes, creo sin lugar a dudas que esta reúne lo mejor de una época con la actualidad. You know, these ancient ppls really had taste & kudos to those who have rennovated and upkeep it throughout the yrs. Thank God for modern spray painting tech because to hand paint those wrothiron garden pieces would have been painful. Stunning views

Amazing restoration.. ideal location if near Belgriate. As not tooo far from Milano. Many fond memories of the area from my stay there several decades ago. Now I’m spoiled and look for properties I can use helicopter to access..ciao.

Matilde Bonaparte was left nothing to desire with that enormous and beautiful estate, being by that lake except for the jacuzzi and the buggy,which would have made the times more fun.

WOW...I was thinking about purchasing George Clooney's estate on Lake Como but now I must reconsider!🤣 Great music and intro...and, I was hanging on for the proverbial exclamation from Stephanie "CHECK IT OUT" but, it did not arrive until 6:49. 🤪🙌🏻 In another channel I follow about super yachts, I guess the rule of thumb is that if your S/Y cost €100,000.00, your annual cost to maintain the yacht will be €10mill. (10%). I wonder with such an amazing estate like this it maybe requires 15-30 staff? At least 10 for the gardens and outside, maybe another 5 for the house and then your cooking staff? Private chapel? Wow...I love churches in general and especially Italy but, mostly I don't like people that go to churches. 🤓😲 So, having your own chapel takes care of that. Oops...add one more staff person as the priest. 🤪💒 Lastly, as I own a marketing business I am in awe of the text copy you draft for every property video and then Stephanie delivers with such ease and enthusiasm. I love your RUclips channel but, you guys definitely need to have your own television show on Netflix or Hulu here in the states. This is an amazing property. Today I dream good dreams because of this property! Grazie milla!
