I do not think there is a singer who brings this much emotion, passion and effort into his art as much as Hogarth does. Fish was amazing, but I feel Hogarth has taken his art to another level. It certainly helps to be surrounded by incredible musicians. I never get tired of listening to Marillion.

IMHO, the reason people like (LOVE) Marillion is that they are not in any way out just recycling their old stuff, for old fans, and for bored musicians... They consistently create new music, putting out a new album every two years or so, and while some of it is lighter, the vast majority of it is beyond deep. Of all the bands I've loved in my life, these guys stay at the top BECAUSE of the lyrics, in which you can find real life stories, written really well. (Partial bit of the long article...) "Out of This World" about the loss of the Bluebird (From the Times: "'Bluebird' Donald Malcolm Campbell (1921-1967) set water speed records of 202.32 mph (1955), 276.33 (1964). In a jet-powered automobile, he set the land speed record of 403.1 mph (1964)...Campbell was said to be obsessed with regaining the water speed record after losing it in 1965. In 1967, against the advice of his racing team, Campbell took Bluebird II out on to Coniston Water in the Cumbrian Lake District... Although only slight, the waves on the lake were sufficient to flip his craft into the air, killing Campbell. In March 2001, Bluebird was raised from the murky waters. A Times article dated Friday March 9th 2001, reveals that Marillion played a key part in the recovery... Found here: " marillionations.blogspot.com/1995/06/out-of-this-world.html " ) Worth a read through one of these days. And this is only one, but one of their all time most beautiful all said.

Somewhat belatedly, it would seem, some context for this astounding work of art is necessary to fully appreciate it.
The album "Brave" is the story of a girl born into a "respectable" family who, starting at quite a young age, is sexually molested by her father. When she runs away from that horror, she is apprehended and placed in a mental asylum, probably because nobody believed her story of incest at the hands of her respectable father. She escapes from the asylum and runs away to the Big City, where she falls in with the wrong sort of crowd, experiments with drugs, and then ultimately gets her already fragile heart broken by a cad. She opts for the Great Escape, a walk out on a high suspension bridge with the intent to end her unbearable pain by throwing herself over the railing into the painlessness of oblivion. She is singing her song to you, the listener, as she heads towards that end.
In earlier live versions, the backdrop behind the stage shows a slow motion video of a darling young girl, maybe about 5 years old, standing on a swing in a pretty white pinafore, hair all in curls, laughing happily. as she glides back and forth across the backdrop. People took that beautiful young girl and tortured her emotionally until she saw suicide as the only escape. Think of that joyful and beautiful child when you listen to this song.
The record company made the band add an epilogue song, "Made Again" to the album, indicating she decided not to kill herself. There is supposed to be a hidden track on the original CD that is 15 minutes or so of water lapping upon the shore underneath the bridge.

Don't get me wrong I still think Fish is a great guy. But even though Clutching at Straws was a great album... cracks were shoeing and after watching Live at Lorely I knew it was the end.
Until 1989 hit. This bouncy you and very good looking guy Steve Hogarth (h for short) exploded into the scene. As a band they are still having the time of their lives go look at All One Tonight from the Royal Albert Hall.
      Honest
      .You'll love it!

I highly recommend the Marillion song "Power". Some other good ones have been suggested, but I really think you will love the live version of Power.

Highly recommend the Album Marbles. It's an absolute masterpiece. If you get the deluxe version you get the double cd version with an 18 minute track of a song called Ocean Cloud on it.The album has a mixture of pop/rock ,rock, progressive material and it's the album Neverland came off.Trust me you will love it to bits.

JIM, you obviously need something longer, even though the crowd reaction for "GO" at the Albert Hall is great. I would still say This Strange engine or Ocean Cloud. Thanks for the mention. I am travelling from NZ next April for the convention, that's how mad we are us Marillion Anoraks!

Hey Jim! another cool one :) I have thought about something that i didnt talk to you about. Id like to see you reacting to the Band "Skyclad" With their Song "Words fail me". Its a Band that is not that well know but it basically created 2 genres that are really popular in rock and metal. Im not gonna tell which ones tho ;) Just that a lot fo people should appreciate it more.. but thats the case with many awesome bands. The song is from their newest Album and i finally..this year... had the chance to see them live and talk to them for hours. That was one of my biggest dreams cause i know them since i was a little boy and nobody else i met knew them at all.. i was so suprised when they showed up on my favourite festival. They went through much and they were really really great live
and yes.. they played that song Live and it was daaamn awesome. It also has a pretty strong message :D I know i recommend quite a few songs but i usually dont ask for a reaction video directly, usually i just exchange awesome music with you ..but this one is too special ^^ Have a nice weekend! (had to edit that. stupid me typed in the wrong song name o.o)
