How in the world does one band put out so many awesome songs for so many years and so many people are still in the dark as to how incredibly brilliant Marillion truly is.
I’ve been saying it for years and years and will always maintain that H is one of the most emotional singers of all time.. even with a slightly “aged and weathered” voice here his delivery is just astonishing. Who sings like this anymore????
Absolute agreement, not entering into debate, I'm a fish-head but the band were fortunate to have someone who was prepared to step into large shoes, hogarth has a fantastic voice, lovely on the ear and full of power. Splendid
H was the best thing that ever could happen to Marillion. I grew up with FISH and love his works with the band, but H shipped Marillion to new dimensions of modern rock.
show me another band that can remotely come close to a live performance that evokes emotion and performance such as this. H is maybe the most brilliant live artist I've ever seen and believe me I've seen well over 100 concerts from the greatest bands ever.
Hands down it is the best version out there. The note changes on "Icarus would know..." are brilliant and add a level of emotion not found in other versions...absolutely incredible masterpiece.
This song, this show, this performance is a perfect example... This band can bring so much emotion out in men, in women, of course, but in men it's different and uncommon to read. It is gorgeous though, to watch, and read, and hear. Not that men aren't emotional over some music, just not nearly as often as women seem to be, or not out loud, or like the head under the pillow type of emotions. I have loved them since Season's End was released. And have loved h leading since just as long. They gave me hope while I was in a coma, their music met me on coming out of same. Didn't know anyone in the world, my name, nor where I was, but I knew the songs, and the singer... Appreciate all of you, men and women, who express, so beautifully, your emotions and love for the band. Thanks for sharing with us all...
Wow mate. That's the power of music isn't it?! It's amazing how my cognative ability has got real bad due to my meds (I have bipolar) and my Fibromyalgia. I find it difficult to read... but Marillion songs... I seem to be able to keep that in. Hope you are well mate. Take care.
Ive seen many concerts during my life, but when i saw 3 years ago the Marilion weekend,3 days in a row of great music and performance, was one of the bests hows i saw.
You must follow more of their music and know more SR... He is not underrated, he is just not commercial :D But since they recorded Grendel or later Chelsea Monday - SR is on the same majestic and emotional level as his (and mine) three heroes Gilmour, Hackett and Latimer. Truly MIND BLOWING!
So much pain and suffering in the world. As an antidote we are given music like this. Thank God! And thank Britain- the centre- piece if that wonderful musical genre: peogressive rock.
This whole piece of brilliance just helps me so much when suffering due to my bipolar and from the toxic abusive relationship I was in. It's nice to have an outlet for such raw feelings...
The great escape is such an incredible piece of art. A tsunami of emotions every time I hear it. For me is to be considered among the best songs of the lasr 20 years
A superbly written, structured, played, and sung song, the greatest band ever, and H is up there with the likes of Plant and Mercury as a truly great rock vocalist!
Bear in mind they had just performed the Brave album from the start, we in the audience were already emotional wrecks - and then they go and do this - simply amazing, nobody does emotion like Marillion live.
In Montreal, I looked around me, and many of the men and women, mostly in the 50's and 60's, had tears streaming down their cheeks. When the song ended, the ovation was the loudest thiing I had ever heard, and lasted at that decibel level for over ten minutes.
Incredible, Majestic, Solefull, Emotional, Such Empathy... I can't stop watching this video! Takes this song to another level live. wow wow wow Just love it. Thank you Marillion.
Not before or Since have marillion been this incredible. I have seen them many many times (i was at this gig) and this brought me to tears. Genius musicians and wonderful human beings. Thank you guys for special moments in my life.
Brave really is an incredible piece of music history. My only wish is to experience it live myself one day. At least I can watch the bluray as a consolation. Amazing performance by the band as usual. This is one of those performances that shows why H is such a phenomenal singer and performer
Brave...one of the best albums ever. A must have for every music lover. Brave is a one of a kind album. A great live performance and music that gives me the chills. The band at his best! Love it!
Still one of the best and epic songs they've ever written. Very good live version. The journey in one song, sensitive, beautiful, grand, emotive... Works every time. Seen it a few times live and always a peak moment for me. Also love how it flows and fit in the whole continuous storey of the Brave album.
This piece of pure brilliance is my favourite ever Marillion song. I live with bipolar and had a very abusive relationship... this kind of sums up all the feelings I have about it... I even played when I was in the local psych ward when I was really ill at one point. There was a nurse that came in to tell me to turn the volumn down... but he paused in the doorway and listened. He asked me if it was significant to the way I viewed things... I said yea... he nodded and said 'I get it now'. Never did tell me to turn it down! Music... the most powerful thing in the world.. especial by this band.
On the day of my cremation, it is this music that I would like to play for my farewells to the world and to those I love. This music moves me, gives me goose bumps and tears in my eyes.
I was 10 or 11 when I first heard Marillion, in the Fish era and my older brother used to listen to them. 40 years later I have seen them live many times, bought every album to date and love them more and more each year. It amazed me how they keep putting out music that is so great after all these years. I will be sad when that final album comes out(whenever that might be) but boy oh boy I have them forever.
They could just do their gig and be done with it after so many years, and yet this is what you get.. I am so happy with this. With all the difficulties we face in our world they show so much humanity and love. Thank you!
as far as i am concerned Brave is the bet prog/concept album ever made.you can listen to it a hundred times and still find something new,the whole album is a series of emotional roller coasters. It truly takes me to another, better place.
Way back in 1994 I wasn't sure Marillion could ever be as good as they had been, but when I first heard Brave I knew that something profoundly wonderful had happened. It was then, and remains to this day, my absolute favourite album of all time. I could not even begin to guess how many times it's been played in my house, it would easily be in the hundreds, and it just never gets old. It's a part of my being, like a familiar old warm blanket, it's a faithful protector from the world, and it never fails. There is never an inappropriate time for Brave. It is unquestionably the best prog/concept album ever made.
I've been a Marillion fan in phases for years but stupidly had gaps where I missed album releases - oh how stupid was I. Just can't get enough of filling those gaps now though - in fact listening/watching the Royal Albert Hall performances - 4 songs on a loop The Space, Afraid of Sunlight, The Great Escape and Easter are probably all I need ever - enough to stir the emotions beyond recognition while at the same time making me wish I was getting more from life! Marillion really do deserve so much more recognition - just hope I get the chance to experience these tracks live one day :)
Tears in my eyes listening to this masterpiece..so emotional..one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard..listening to this every day makes the world a better place..
I have followed Marillion since the days of Script. Love both eras. Being at a Marillon show is different than any other band. It just is. Marillion fans just know they have a special bond with the band.
This song alone is better than most current bands whole discography.
Long live Marillion!
so true

This is proper music. Unfortunately it’s not popular any more. Love this band!
@@whitehousefarmbarnandcarav1839 That's fine. Means that when concerts are a thing again, it won't be hard to get tickets. ;)

Heartfelt Dave...... gives me goosebumps every time I hear this x

Sorry I disagree...Fish was Marillion
@@elaineweatherhead5542 I'm sorry you misunderstood. Fish will always be Marillion, but H was the best they could find after him.
@@elaineweatherhead5542 h is much better singer...
@@elaineweatherhead5542 Fish may be the first singer of Marillion, and is indeed very good... H' s voice outclasses his.
Same here. FISH is still doing great stuff too.
One of The Best Songs they have ever made. Makes me want to cry , almost - each time I hear it.
Along with "Beyond You" !
First time I heard it I did cry
Yes this song evokes very strong emotions... my heart & soul feel moved...Love Marillion 😍🙏
don't hold back, let it out.
@@falseprophet1972 .. I'm too
This is my favourite, most important piece of music that has ever been in my life.
I hear you, bro !
Totally! I get what you mean.
Not enough music albums like this one. Almost unique.
Omg same here my friend
Same here. Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱
This is what I want played at my funeral, loud enough to shake the soot from the crematorium chimney, the irony of the title would be exquisite!
Fallen from the Moon still gives me chills after 20 years.
.....and still.... again 6 years later! 🙏🙏
absolutely fucken brilliant what a voice
Gary Sharkey If you I insist on using that word, you could spell it correctly: ‘fucking’.
The emotionality in Steve's voice is incomparable to anything else.
If wasn't for Marillon showing up on RUclips music one night I would have never known who they were.
Fabulous group!
I hope you get the opportunity to see them play live at some point. Goosebumps upon goosebumps 😍
Thanks RUclips! You're right!
by far the most underrated piece of music ever written, it's just an epic, a true roller coaster of emotions
I was in tears. That was so powerful it's nearly beyond belief.
Genesis was a revelation, Marillion is a consequence of inspiration.

John Nicholson yep absolutely brother... I’ve said for years and years H is the most emotional “rock” singer of our time, maybe ever
For me, this version is far better than the original. H lives every word that he sings and after 19 years he still has a great voice!
You've got to be kidding... his voice is shot.
@@Dudemon-1 Your ears are shot.

The guitar solo on "Falling from the moon" part is one of the best ever!
My favourite piece of music. Ever. The guitar at 4:55 give me shivers and tears form. Sublime.
Hogarth is so good on this...devastating emotion.
THIS SONG TOUCHES SUPERLATIVE HEIGHTS

super song !!
Hogarth is such a singer, so much emotion. This is a special song for a lot of us.
Goosebumps all over, hair on my neck standing up, shivers down my spine WOW!
My, my, Steve Hogarth, your voice is pure power, magic and soul strength! ❤ Love you guys! Genius!

Steve Rothery at 2:44, one of the most underrated guitarist's of our time and when he kicks in that solo (on any track) it is mind blowing!!!
