I just saw a stupid pop up claiming to tell me the top 44 guitarists of all time...neither Vai or SR were on it. They should be a law against littering on the internet.

I was a stubborn "fish only " fan for years, like a teenager hanging onto his ex girlfriend and hoping it would be ok again then resenting the new man involved, took me about 20 years to finally let go and embrace the Hogarth era.....boy,and what a change has been...like a moth to a butterfly,Marillion have changed and blossemed into a new version of what they were, which is a great thing.......I think they have matured into what is a natural progression and Fish couldn't have been part of that journey......what an amazing song...simply sublime!
I'm the same. I was a 'Fish era' fan and after the split I went to see Marillion with H at the London Astoria on the Seasons End tour on the Thursday night and literally two or three days later, Fish on the State Of Mind Tour at the Town and Country Club, again in London. Conflicting emotions on both evenings, the Seasons End and State of Mind tracks sounded great, but neither sounded quite right performing Fish era Marillion songs. I couldn't get my head around Steve's vocals on songs like Script during the Marillion gig and then when Fish performed the same song, it was the band that didn't sound quite right. Net result was I let them both go and contented myself with just wearing out my copies of Script, Fugazi, Misplaced Childhood etc. Several decades later I've caught up with both and can only echo your comments regarding Marillion.
Power, artistry, emotion,. No ones brings it together in their music, and delivers it in a way that takes the listener on the journey with them, like Marillion does. My favorite band since the early 80s, and I am so grateful to have had the gift of their music throughout my life.
Incroyable performance. Un truc de malade de par la perfection vocale, la justesse des instruments, des balances, bref tout. Absolument époustouflant !!!
@@jeffjacobson59 I wouldn't say so, they're both great lyricists, only they're different kinds. While Fish is more poetic, Hogarth is more explicit and on the nose. Season's End, Brave, Sounds That Can't Be Made, F.E.A.R. and An Hour Before Its Dark are albums who's lyrics I think to rival Fish's best albums (Script For a Jester's Tear, Fugazi and Clutching at Straws)
Has there ever been a more talented pair of genius players than Mosely and Rothery who were so understated and underrated too. They both make their playing look so easy.....and it is NOT.
Sally Sturman, in 1986 I was a freshman attending college in the Adirondack Mountains in NY. There were no apparent radio stations so I wired up my receiver the best I could with whatever wire I could muster up. With headphones on I slowly and carefully rotated the tuning dial. There was only static......until I could hear the faint sound of a song I'd never heard before. Musical chords I'd never heard before. I immediately unplugged the headphones allowing the music to flow through my speakers. It was like detecting a signal from outer space. I ran across the hall to ask a fellow roommate that lived nearby closer to Canada and asked him if he had ever heard of this music. "Oh", he exclaimed, "you found Marillion, how lucky are you! Welcome to your first party." The song was Kaleigh being played on CHOM 97.7 out of Montreal Canada (111 miles away). My favourite band ever since that moment and I've seen them 3 times.
When a music like this hits my eardrums, the adrenal gland floods my bloodstream with adrenaline, my heartbeats accelerates, my breathing intensifies, the hairs in my neck stands up, and a shiver runs down my spine.

On top of the world like a flag on a mountain
Feeling so high you can feel so alone
Unable to breathe at the height that you flew
Staring on clouds with no view of below
On top of a girl like a dream in a hotel
Falling towards something out of control
Unable to miss like the man in the tram
Crashing your car in Amsterdam
He did it without knowing, didn't feel a thing
He just wrecked it and kept going
The space around the stars
Is something that you know
A billion miles of darkness
Left your feeling low
The space around the stars
Is something that you know
Everything about you
So perfectly restrained
But everything inside you
Bites you
Everybody in the whole of the world
Feels the same inside
Everybody in the whole of the world
Everyone is only everyone else
Everybody's got to know
Everybody lives and loves and laughs and cries
And eats and sleeps and grows and dies
Everybody in the whole of the world
Is the same this time
