@@ataladin87 Maybe to OG and Hardcore fans. To casuals, Knuckles was extremely overhyped, because he was compared to Sonic as if he was his physical equal, albeit just in strength instead of speed. Yet, Knuckles is usually only regulated to being one 3rd of Team Sonic, with him having far less story relevance than Sonic or even Tails and Shadow on average. Don’t get me wrong; I love Knuckles on paper, but I just feel he could be utilized more effectively than Sega does 90% of the time. If Knux is as strong as Sonic is fast, why don’t we have more moments of Knuckles doing things like punching through black holes. I was starting to think they were going to let him shine a bit more, but then I saw the trailer for the Sonic 3 movie, where he got manhandled by Shadow, and lost hope again. Knux is like Metal Sonic, both are a stated to be on par with Sonic, but are extremely slept on because they are overshadowed by Shadow.

Let’s be honest, Silver was only truly a major character in 06 and the Rivals games, former being a terrible game and the latter being unknown to the general population. He’s not been in a single Sonic Cartoon, didn’t get a role in any of the All Stars games so missed the hype of the Sonic Racing genre, he’s not even had been Super Silver since his first appearance. The closest I can think of their being hype around him was the 2010 Mario & Sonic game where he was amongst the group of newcomers, but Sonic fans barely ever talk about those games. He definitely is given some justice in the comics, but be brutally honest and tell me do we think the Mainstream cares about those comics? Compare this to Shadow, who even in his drought season (otherwise known as the 2010s) still was hugely popular in the general public, even getting mass requested to be in the Boom TV show despite the character in the game being at his worst incarnation. Silver is either going to need something big on the horizon before they try a Year of Silver gamble, or it’s no use!

@@LinWeyASMR 1) Lost World was nowhere near the financial bomber that 06 left on the ground, and is frankly forgotten about in this era. 2) Those same writers were also pushing to keep Orbot and Cubot around despite most people not liking them in Colours, which have still stuck despite the more serious writing of the 2020s. 3) Despite still being used, Silver has not been granted any form of major screen time in any Sonic Games since the Rivals Series. Note his biggest appearance since 06 was his boss fight in Generations. 4) Throwing an entire year to a specific character is not something you just throw out or any side character, Shadow being heavily pushed in the early 2000s coupled with being the star in SA2 (arguably the most popular Sonic game) proved profitable to make a year around, Silver does have such luck. If Nintendo couldn’t make the year of Luigi work, the brother to their mascot, then I don’t think Silver would work unless they pulled something truly big with him *before* the event.
I fully believe silver could fit the frontiers formula so much more than sonic does Why is sonic solving puzzles with piano music in the background, give it to silver! A silver chaotix game about problem solving would be incredible!
Pretty much almost every aspect of frontiers makes it a silver game. The story, the tone, the theme, the premise, even the gameplay has fighting and traversing separated, something sonic shouldn't be.
All the kids who grew up with 06 are starting to reach adulthood... I think a Year of Silver _can_ work if they play their cards right. Nostalgia sells, after all.
4:30 If I recall correctly, in one of the cutscenes in 06 they showed Silver fly off really fast with his psychic powers, so CANONICALLY he should be able to fly faster. They really fumbled the bag with his gameplay in 06 (but then again, they fumbled a LOT in 06).
Sonic has games like... eh action and adventure and all that, Shadow with his thing that even seems to want to be a God of War but with a lot of speed... imagine Silver in a more different genre, I mean like a game where everything is less intense and fast and is more exploratory, of course without losing too much rhythm, and in several levels even exploring the character, it would be interesting to see a facet of the character and of course something different from the other hedgehog protagonists.
I personally would LOVE a year of Silver. When you think about it, we know so little about him. A year of Silver would be a perfect way to give him a more detailed backstory, and explore his psychokynetic powers more. I agree with you that his gameplay should be more fast-paced, because come on its a sonic game. If SEGA released a game with Silver as the main character i would be SO HAPPY.. This guy deserves so much more, and has so much potential to be as well known as the rest of the hedgehogs. I hope sega will do a year of Silver. It probably wont be this year, but maybe next year or 2027?
Sonic 06 is part of the Main Continuity and Timeline. It just erased itself from existence. Nothing more and nothing less. It’s still canon but it doesn’t exist anymore.

It wouldn't make sense if you were to connect it to past events with plot holes like Blaze being there or that damn BLUE chaos emerald. Heck, the end of the world stage don't even feature any level from past sonic games.

The Blue Chaos Emerald has an abstract existence similar to the Master Emerald shown in Sonic Rivals. The End of the World is meant to showcase places that were present in Soleanna since that is where Solaris was resurrected. Sonic 06 acts on the once a new timeline is created through changes in the past, if any events that prevented that timeline from existing are triggered, that timeline is then erased. Think of Back to the Future 2 time travel rules. It is not contained as a separate pocket dimension whatsoever.
I think I disagree with this video but here's why: People are more open to The Bigger Sonic Universe now and Early-Late 2000's Sonic Content (especially Adventure 2, 06, Shadow '05 and Unleashed being moreso praised nowadays) and Silver was apart of that. But I do agree with a commenter that Silver's best Chance is The Movies. I think the SCU will adapt Silver but NOT in the 06 Storyline but rather Sonic Adventure 1's Storyline with very minor aspects of '06, as people remember Adventure 1 Fondly over '06, '06 is getting somewhat better in terms of it's reception (I think P-06 helps with that) but it's still negative-mixed. So I think a Smart Idea would be to Mix a Beloved Sonic Plot with a Character who had a bad debut and finally show off how cool they can be when given the right material. Meanwhile SEGA/Sonic Team in 2027/2028 can be Cooking up Two Silver Releases; A Silver The Hedgehog Game and a Silver Gens DLC Pack for Sonic x Shadow Generations along with getting the guys who did Shadow Generations Dark Beginnings to cook up a Three Part Prequel Animation for both Games whilst the Movie Team Hypes Up Silver and Chaos on the Big Screen for Movie 5. I won't deny a Year of Silver will be Tougher to pull off but it can be done, if SEGA play their cards right (which they have been doing recently).
100% agree, like it or not shadow is a popular mainstream videogame character even outside sonic, he's probably more popular tbh. if a year of silver ever happened everyone outside the sonic community is gonna be like "who?" sega would need to do a lot more leg work just to get people to know who he is and what hes about, outside of idw he doesn't even get the chance to do anything memorable. expect the year of silver to happen in like 5 years, not next year. i would honestly not be surprised if the movies do something cool with him and make him popular long before the games ever do.
Yeah, you'd need to build Silver up a bit to give him his own year. There definitely is a leap of faith needed from the team in that regard anyway; but that leap should look like "giving Silver a major roll in a game" not "dedicating a year to him". I'd say that should start out with how they jumpstarted Shadow; giving Silver his own solo game to explore that character & draw from down the line. But even then I'm not sure he could carry a solo game story-wise tbh. Maybe if he co-stared in a spin-off game though? Like give him a game with Blaze, she could do with another staring roll anyway. Plus she seems easier to write a game for; fans have wanted to see more of her home setting for years now.
Imma be real, unless someone behind the movies or at Sega is a big fan of Silver specifically and really pushes for it, i dont even think he'll make it into the movies. The real problem is that after Sonic 06, Sega and Sonic Team had to reintroduce Silver by giving him a major role in two games that nobody ever talk about or even want to mention. (I REFUSE to acknowledge the Rivals games and their take on Eggman Nega's lore!)

I think the reason people are assuming there will be a year of Silver is just because he is a hedgehog like Sonic and Shadow. Silver really doesn't have much of a history. He was only a main player in one mainline game he only had a small part in forces. There is just not enough history with Silver to give him a "year of Silver." I think Tails and Knuckles deserve there own years then Silver does.
I think that a bigger problem with a Year of Silver and Sonic characters having their own years is that many of them don't have that strong marketing factor and hype as Shadow who basically sells himself and I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Shadow spin off series after the success of Shadow Generations. Not saying Sonic characters aren't marketable but I'm not sure how well a game starring Tails will be something general audiences would sell even if it was amazing.I think Knuckles is the only other character who has that factor to sell his own game with how prominent he was in Movie 2 and his own spinoff show despite how much of a waste that was. As for Silver,I don't think he should have his own year right away but give him more prominent roles in stuff like the upcoming mainline Sonic game and the movies,if his appearances are well recieved then maybe there's a chance him and ofher Sonic characters can get their own years.
Honestly one idea I’ve had recently with Silver (and I’m not sure if I’m the only one who thought of this. Who knows someone might’ve thought this too.) was the idea to reintroduce him and make him originate from the SOL DIMENSION & its future. That way you can keep his connection with Blaze and possibly remake 06 as a story in the Sol Dimension. Make it so Soliana is the major human story of Blaze’s world like SA1/SA2 is to Sonic. By extension this would in a way make Silver Shadow’s Sol Dimension counterpart. Both being hedgehogs with unique abilities on top of speed. (Chaos powers and psychokinesis respectively) Both would have a connection to a different time period (Past & Future) & both would be antagonistic in their first appearance. Blaze would become the Iblis trigger Mephiles mentions and so like Shadow & Sonic, Silver and Blaze come into conflict. This way the Sol Dimension gets expanded on and you can reintroduce Soliana & Mephiles without having to bring back the original. (Also you can make it so it’s Eggman Nega instead of OG Eggman kidnapping Elise and this would reintroduce Nega back into the Sol Dimension to fix the mess that’s his backstory since Rivals) Plus it would give Blaze and Sliver a chance to shine. Plus it gives Sliver another chance. I literally had this idea come to me a few days after beating Mephiles in Shadow Generations. So I’m curious on how people would react to this idea.
Silver just doesn't have much of a presence to justify getting a whole year devoted to him. Tail, Knuckles, and Amy are probably the only other characters who could warrent that, and honestly, i could see a year of Amy happening in 2026/2027 to coincide with Sonic 4.
Metal Sonic makes the most sense to get a year to me. Main antagonist of the next movie, plus an easy shoe-in for whatever tie-in game they release alongside it.

I think Silver needs his own game to re-establish the '06 game by just saying that it was ripped away to some separate pocket dimension away from the timeline, and was able to return thanks to the Time Eater shenanigans in Generations, or re-introduce the Time Stones or something and have Silver explore his personal past (future) again. He could even enlist the help of Shadow to become more powerful and find out what happened to his original appearance and what his purpose is. It could even introduce an origins of some sort. Yes, I know this sounds an awful lot like Shadow the Hedgehog, but Silver definitely needs an extra boost of confidence to reconnect himself back to the Sonic franchise as a well-established character. He's currently the unwanted Raiden to Sonic and Shadow's Solid Snake and Big Boss, to compare this to Metal Gear Solid for a sec.
I understand that many Sonic characters aren't as popular as Sonic and his edgy counterpart Shadow but that doesn't mean it wouldn't do good. Sega just needs to have more faith and do more work for others instead of putting them on the sidelines. Sonic Advanced was a great idea to use characters instead of just sidelining them. The problem isn't the characters, the real problem is Sega not using them.
"Year of silver" is the equivalent of Sonic team commiting seppuku. No matter how many Sonic fans there are, there's no way it's gonna be a big enough success. Silver is not at the level of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. He's not as iconic, he's not as well known, he certainly doesn't have a ground to stand on compared to those characters. You gotta start from the ground up and build him a reputation if you ever want this to succeed. And sure the movie might help with that, but that won't automatically be enough to make him carry a whole game on his own. Simply put "You're not that guy"
I think the only way for him to gain relevance is if they essentially remake Sonic 06 or bring him in through Sonic frontiers 2. His fate was sealed when Sonic 06 flopped
Actually this could be a great excuse for a Sonic '06 Remake which is not only a very safe decision but also a great way for them to redeem that game and make it the Adventure 3 that it was always meant to be.
im ngl i rlly hate this narrative of silver not being allowed to showcase "innocence" or a softer personality. he can be a badass while still maintaining a relatively wholesome demeanor! not only does it juxtapose him with the cool and free sonic and the antiheroic somberness of shadow, but i think it makes sense. silver’s core motivations are steeped in hope/determination. having been born in a future of Ruin, of course he’s going to marvel at the little things - perfect nature, blue skies, the lighthearted natures of his friends. and it doesn’t even take away much from his threat factor. it’s a nice change of pace and i hate pretending its not. that personal grievance aside though, i do agree with the rest of the video-until he’s actually fleshed out proper and "redeemed" in the eyes of the public, dedicating a year to him would be a waste. and that’s coming from being his biggest defender
I absolutely adore silver and although he hasn't had much major time in the spotlight I still love his character and I love how his personality contrasts with both Sonic and Shadow. I've always viewed silver as the more optimistic and hopeful person out of the main cast which I think works nicely next to Sonic's Carefree Attitude and Shadows More Serious personality. and although I don't agree with him being "written like a cinnamon roll" I think it's pretty nice getting to see him experience things he wasn't able to in his timeline, the only way I could see Silver getting a year to himself would be Sonic Team either remakes 06 (Which I doubt they will) or they just go the Shadow route and make a whole new game where Silver is playable, either way I just hope they end up using him more because he's such a cool character and there's definitely a lot of stories you could tell with him.
I miss when Silver was a powerhouse with no concern for anyone who got in his way, willing to kill someone if needed - yet also being childish in that. Like a toddler with world-ending capabilities.
The issue with Silver is that you can only send him back to fix the past so many times before that gets tired. So there's only 3 options. 1: Send him back to the past to deal with a problem that won't resolve itself after one storyline. That way, he can stick around and work towards it. Kinda like what they did with him in the Archie comics. 2: Have him save the future, but be unable to go back. Changing the past would have created a whole new timeline, with a new future and an already existing version of Silver from the timeline. Ironically, Silver wouldn't have any place in the future that he saved. 3: Give Silver his own game set in his original time. I'm sure people would love to see more of the future Silver comes from. With more advanced technology and ESP being commonplace, it seems like it would have a lot of storytelling potential.
I had a goofy idea for a silver game where after talking to sonic and friends he goes back to his his time, but he knows something is off. There is a big Neo building in the middle of crisis city. He goes to check it out and realizes that the heavy king (from sonic mania) used the power of the time stones (from sonic CD) to to mess with and rearrange the timeline where Eggman would’ve won and silver tries to stop and then and there once the heavy king basically teleport him to a place similar to white space (from sonic generations) and silver has to go through alternate versions of past levels like a nuclear power plant version of chemical plant or a ruined version of Angel Island in order to fix the timeline.
I think instead of a movie, we have a animated tv show that features him, Silver and possibly Shadow in the future teaching him. And it doesn’t involve Sonic and his friends. I’m tired of media showcasing him as another one of Sonic’s friends or allies. He’s his own character with a setting that needs to be explored. Showcasing a villain that’s the opposite of him or slightly similar, like either a intelligent and manipulative villain who takes advantage of him or a strong cynical brute who’s only interest is conquest
It is true that we know very little of Silver and his first appearance was in Sonic '06. Which we all know wasn't a good game. I haven't played Rivals 1 & 2 because I didn't have a PSP. I know he is in those games. So, I think creating a brand-new game for Silver would be a good idea. To really learn more about his character and his past. With better technology, Sonic Team could really flesh out his gameplay mechanics a bit more. Also, Sonic Team stated that they were interested in remaking Sonic '06, so, maybe this would be a good opportunity for them to not only fix the gameplay, but to also fix the story as well. The movies could definitely give Silver a boost in recognition -- if his characterization is handled successfully.

Honestly the best Way i could see Silver having a major role in a sonic game ever again is maybe in a Sonic heroes Sequel or have a game be about perhaps Silver and Future Shadow, I think Shadow would be in the future timeline since he cannot age! And maybe have Metal Sonic and Sage Take over the Eggman empire unless Eggman managed to put His mind in Cyber space or something like that. I'm sure Eggman would find a way to cheat death itself if could get power over time like he did once.
Even if we write Silver more like he was in the late 2000s (hopefully not keeping his more jerkier side) I wouldn’t mind them still continuing his dilemma from IDW, where he’s trying to figure out what to fix the future with as he’s in the past for the specific reason. Keeping continuity with it since it is canon. Or maybe have IDW complete that and we get a story somewhat adapting Archie where Silver is in a world that he never existed in. Diluted from the timeline basically and has to deal with whatever problems his new future has that doesn’t need rewriting the past to fix.
Imo, i think metal sonic is one of the only characters who could carry their own spin-off. Hes a very easy character to understand, and i feel he has alot of appeal.
They could make the next Sonic game heavily involve Silver, but i think the issue is that the next movie will focus on Metal Sonic and Amy so i find way more likely for them to try to do marketing for these character from now on.
The worst thing with silver is that in 06 he’s slow, in the other spinoff games he’s up to speed. Make him another fast character (make him fly fast when in run animation) so that Sonic runs, shadow skates, and silver floats to go fast, keep his telekinesis as a power but they should find out how to implement it as a game mechanic. And his personality is perfect the way it is, he can be serious but also relaxed and kind, a mix between shadow’s grimness and Sonic’s energy.
I gotta be honest. I'm having a great bit of fun when booting silvers levels up on playstation 3. The slowdown is annoying, but the various glitches amuse me and i love 06's Level design and like silvers slower paced gameplay. I think it's just a me issue, but sonic 06 is one of the only games i can actually sit down and have a calm time with. The glitches make me not want to tryhard or overthink things because at any moment my character might randomlly fall through the floor. It brings back the fun in video games for me.
Yeah, silver definitely needs a resurgence in media for a dedicated year to work. In that case I’m hoping we get a year of knuckles, and he gets a game packaged with a GOOD rerelease of unleashed.
Silver getting a resurgence would absolutely lead to him becoming a Cinnamon role, especially if they make a 4th film based on Sonic '06. They will change him from Future Trunks and turn him into Izuku Midoria.
I feel like there should be two modes for Silver. One where he is quick and his telekinesis is equally fast, and another where he's not as quick but he has elaborate telekinesis usage and is essentially him focusing on telekinesis. Basically a "Level traversal" mode and a "Combat" mode
I enjoyed silver gameplay in sonic 06, the fact that he was slow didn't affect me at all, I enjoyed using the shockwave on enemies and then lift them up and throwing them into the next set of enemies. To be honest I can't see him being super fast as I feel like that would contradict his combat, and then his gameplay would be a stop and go, but how I feel. You also can't just remove his ability to pick up objects and throw it at enemies.
i think it would better if instead of pastering the character everywhere we got soft years, like 2022 was kind of the year of knuckles, he was an important character in the movie, he got his frontiers prologue animation and was an important character in frontiers, so something like that for other characters like tails, amy, blaze and silver we probably be for the best
I totally get why Silver is so popular, but after I actually analyzed what this character has, he feels like potential that was never reached and is stuck to never being reached. Like, Sega has never even established how he time travels post 06. I'm gonna sound so harsh here but what history are we celebrating with the "Year of Silver". A rushed slop job and a duology no one cares about, all of which he's extremely average character wise. There's so much work you have to do with Silver and it feels like the only one's that would get the W here are the Silver fans, a much smaller group than anyone is willing to admit. With that being said, I wouldn't be opposed to a Silver game that can establish actually interesting things about his character.
Yeah that's the real problem. Shadow basically had deuteragonist status from SA2 to 06. Maybe S&tBK (which Silver didn't get a role in despite having a knight counterpart). He just doesn't even have the legacy to work with, let alone the popularity.
I think the time travel aspect should be axed. It's a story beat that's easy to screw up, especially if he can time travel at will. He already has his psychokinesis which is a pretty cool power. He should either be a psychic, which would add to his psychokinesis. Or if he must remain a time traveler, something similar to Sailor Pluto, where he's a time guardian who steps in when the future turns bleak

5:16 I kinda like that to be honest. Of course make him faster, but maybe this can be used to make the following set pieces in the level. Imagine making a giant long bridge with platform challenges. Speeding along it as it starts crumbling with the passage of time. He shouldn’t constantly be stopping but every now and then would be nice.
You know as weird as it sounds Year of Silver can be 50/50 like it can be tremendously bad idea since there literally almost nothing about Silver the Hedgehog but at the same time it can also be tremendously great idea for Silver since all it would take is one stand-alone game that basically tells us his origin story as to how he was made and how he had gotten his telekinetic powers to begin with heck they can even go as far as give us a Super Silver Fight where he can basically grab a meteor the size of THE END and just chuck it back to where ever it was sent from probably a Final Boss even Silver The Hedgehog is a Sonic Character that can either add onto the World of Sonic the Hedgehog really well and increase it's world building by a ton or it could end being a total flop and Silver will just slowly cease to exist as a Sonic character either way honestly can't wait to see what Sega has in store for Silver if they do go this route.
What if his move that lets him use telekinesis for rearranging the level he can rotate objects around him and be able to create ramps out of ruble or a fallen tower by propping it up on something? Or there could be way to have his just hold the debris in the air so he could platform off of them or create bridges with a pillar. Maybe he could create a trampoline thing with a piece of debris where he stands on it and then pushes it into the air with him?
The most similar I can think for the kind of Silver gameplay you are describing is Gravity Rush's gameplay I wouldn't day it's perfect and a 1 to 1 but I think there are good basis in GR gameplay for this to work
I think it will eventually happen because i think the direction the Movies will go will be Probably a Shadow the Hedgehog Spin off like Knuckles, which will have Black Doom, Rouge and Omega then we get the Sonic 4 movie where the whole time travel aspect of the movie adaptating CD will bring up Mephilles at some point, or maybe just end up with a post credits scene where Silver appears and beats the shit out of Sonic Then Sonic 5 (the last movie) has Sonic, Shadow and Silver teaming up against Mephilles at the end bringing an epic conclusion to the movie series and a newfound relevance to Silver's character. I think that in the movies Silver should be written as kind of a mix between Future Trunks, and of course bring up Blaze alongside him.
Yes, rewrite him. Just use Sonic Rivals as a template, and never Sonic 06, starring his "childhood friend" Blaze the Cat (first seen in Sonic Rush), Elise, and the Kingdom of Soleanna. Have Silver's motivation be the "Ifrit Trigger".
I think the fandom should have a year of Silver, where everyone suddenly starts actually making content about him, until something like that happens an official year of Silver won’t ever happen
I feel a Year of Silver could be beneficial for him. Though, yes. He isn't known by the mainstream but the Sonic Franchise Is, things they put out gets seen. The Movies could be his great start but a game could also be so helpful, he's more loved than people realize and just like Shadow Gens It could be the perfect way to flesh him and his future out. His perspective if the world and all.
P-06 fan remake made him actually fun to play as so it's possible to do if Sega put the effort actually. And he's been around IDW/Archie for a long while so yeah he has a personality and a background lore and many adventures of his own.
Silver has had story roles in: Sonic 06 Sonic Rivals Sonic Rivals 2 Sonic Colors DS Sonic Forces Blaze has had story roles in: Sonic Rush Sonic 06 Sonic Rush Adventure Sonic And The Black Knight Sonic Colors DS Considering how the Rivals games are some of the most forgotten pieces of Sonic media in general, I would say Blaze has a better claim to a Year of her own. She also has a much more defined character, and her homeworld is fairly fleshed out. I would focus on her first.
It's interesting seeing this sentiment as someone who wanted to (but never did) play 06 as a kid. It's one of the only Sonic games i missed, but because of that I actually know very little about Silver. Means I couldn't care less about him tbh. I don't think he's really had enough presence in games not called sonic 06 to justify a year of Silver. But then again, I don't really know him. Maybe he was that good, idk.
biggest question is are they gonna do another "Year of" again honestly, when Movie 2 came out their wasn't a "Year of Knuckles/Tails" just a movie, so they likely did Shadow because it aligned with everything and how he's the second Fan Favorite, for 4, I wouldn't be surprised if it's business as usual with some Movie Content with a Amy or Metal skin
I hope they go for a time travelling plot were they reintroduce Silver in Movie 4 in my perfect version of the movie Neo Metal is the main Antagonist whose goal is kidnapping Sonic and harness his power while Silver takes a side Antagonist role for the first half where he chases Sonic around so he can kill him before Neo Metal can achive his goal and by the second half they join forces and go to the future to defeat Neo Metal. Sonic and Silver go and take the chaos emerald (you can reuse the concept that the chaos emeraland can make time travel from 06 and just say Silver had them but didn't know that they could make him so powerfull and he used them only for time travel) while the rest of team sonic is holding of Neo and his army Silver and Sonic arrive to the battle and they have a epic 2v1 against Neo but they still manage to lose it and to make things worst Neo Metal is Super Neo Metal everyone has given up except Silver who stands up saying "no I won't give up there has to be a way to destroy him" and he by the end he manages to defeat Neo Metal and save his future Sonic team go back home now with Amy that decided to go with them and the movie ends. (I think it would be a nice way to create a new origin story for him that isn't to much different from the game. In the movie Amy would also be a time traveller and she would be the one convince Silver to not kill Sonic because she thinks togheter they can defeat Metal and it isn't right of the to kill Sonic just to save the timeline. I know they line of Silver are kinda corny but i love the fact he is just a representation of hope.) (sorry if i made any grammatical or logical mistake)
I know it sounds naive considering how Sega is but it would be cool if there was a spin off game of Silver where the prologue would be like when in a game the protagonist is typically in a lonely but serene place and explores here and there while the player learns how to use it, it would be like a kind of hollow knight because it is like you explore the character and of course you face obstacles, there would even be cameos or mentions like Sonic or other characters, I mean while Sonic is like adventure and action and Shadow is something intense and moved, Silver would be something calmer, not so many enemies but as if you were exploring with the character especially with his telekinetic powers.
As for the bit at the end asking if we had any thoughts that differed, the only one I have that I’d say does, is I always thought it a plus, him being a cinnamon roll, _as well as_ cool? Like, I really don’t see what your problem is.
I meannnnn 2026 is his 20th.. maybe he’ll get a new game to reintroduce him? Copium aside, I think they need to slowly start making him more important in newer sonic games. Maybe even make him playable in a few segments. And get his psychokinesis right; if they do that, and he builds up a stronger and more promising fanbase, I’m pretty sure they’ll realise the missed out potential he has
I think there is a huge misunderstanding within the Sonic fanbase about the status of 06 in the canon. The events of that game are still canon and were experienced by all the characters in that game, they were just wiped away from their memories. As for Silver, based on his character bio in Sonic Fast Friends and Generations, he is the same Silver from 06 and was born in that timeline destroyed by Iblis, he just does not remember how his future was saved so he might have some memories of 06. It is still part of the continuity hence why we see things from 06 in Generations.
About the gameplay side of Silver, I think you could look at Shadow's situation here, how in Shadow The Hedgehog(2005) game he had guns and vehicles and underwhelming Chaos powers etc, making gameplay and pacing, which not very appealed to masses, but in Shadow Generations having all thoose cool, fitting Boost formula gameplay, Chaos powers. All I mean, is that Silver's telecinesis can have a lot more to it, rather than just flying and throwing stuff, Sonic Team just needs to put some mind to it, to make his abilities fun for fast-pased gameplay. Also I think Silver could be as fast and Sonic and Shadow using his levitation powers. Unlike them, he is not slowed down by surface fraction. As of the lore side, nothing is unachivable with smart story writing. I know people have no hopes for Flynn writing, but I think anything can be achived with power of friendship, and by that I mean, that there should be more collaborative effort writing stories. As I heard, Shadow Generations story was made just like that. I really want cool Silver game☺️
There's only one surefire way it could work...06 needs a rewrite, or he needs his own game. He's likely Sonic the Hedgehog 5 or 6 so it'll likely be awhile
Some ideas for a silver games gameplay: open level design stamina/action gauge you need to manage to use hover and teleport dash grab items such as boxes and rubble with R2/RT, throw them with square/X to kill enemies to gain action gauge back faster or throw them and freeze them with L2/LT to use as platforms to jump of off or use as walls to teleport dash off of to gain speed
Spoiler alert from the Sonic movie and lengthy response Yeah, this is the main reason why I’m more wanting a year for Metal Sonic or Amy since they actually showed up IN the third movie, have a pretty good group of fans, and is known more than Silver. Both characters personally deserve to be gone into more depth into, and it would be fun to see them have their own mainline game too. I think the only way for Silver to get some space in the Sonic franchise if there was a Sonic 06 remaster of sorts, or a game that has Silver as a main focus, before they give him the “Year of” treatment. If they want to make Silver apart of the big 3, with the whole Past, Present and Future spiel, then they have to give Silver more of a character then what we’ve seen now. As much as I like the idea of Silver being sweet and a “cinnamon” roll depicted in the comics, Silver deserves more respect than being babied by the audience and seen as a joke. So many say that Silver is the weakest, pulling the clip of Silver getting kicked on the back of his head by Shadow (ngl hilarious), but people don’t see how Silver stood his ground until Shadow used the emerald, both tired at the end of it, matching, Silver was the one who matched Infinite and even knocked out the phantom Ruby, even knocked down Sonic, and if it wasn’t a kid friendly game, he could just drown someone with his powers or crush their bones. He is capable and determined, and he can be arrogant and desperate when it comes to getting his way. He can be gentle to those who don’t pose a threat to him, and doesn’t just look for a fight. He can be threatening when needing too. Not to mention, Silver never smiled during 06, telling a lot about how he was affected. Not to mention mentally. The guy lost everything he loved, watching his people around him die. And yet he keeps on going through it all. And has to deal with saving the future over and over again, no matter how long it takes. He’s the most underrated, unappreciated, and mysterious hedgehog out of the big 3. Amy isn’t even a main focus half the time, but even she has a backstory (even if she’s misunderstood).
Sonic X Silver Unleashed: Dark Gaia rises again in the future and Silver is asked by an old friend of Sonic to go back to the past and weaken Dark Gaia resurgence from there by doing werehog stages in daylight.
I think for a silver game, it would make sense to base it off of the future. (revolutionary I know) shadows game focus on the past, sonics games rely on quick thinking in the moment aka present, silvers game would have to be a look into the future of what sega wants to do. (also I had a dream where I played as silver in a brawl type game, tap and holding the jump button made him fly and holding the attack button made him pick up bigger and bigger stuff but you couldn't move while he did this. also it would be funny if year of silver was 2026) anyway I agree with video :]
For Silver I imagine a Sonic x Silver World Adventure (Unleashed), were while Sonic defeats Eggman and Dark Gaia while exploring the present world Silver does the same in the future while fighting Dark Gaia(new form) and Eggman Nega. Not only we would get the first Sonic game were we explore the future but it would also be a way to see Silver interact with his time line (and in this scenario Chip would be his buddy). I don't know if it's a good concept, but it's the best possible to me
I want Year of Blaze the Cat she deserves this waaay more She was before Silver and in my opinion much better than him and has more potential for an character origin and to learn more about her world and empire plus her abilities. She was Peak in the Sonic Rush Games and ever since 06 She been disrespected and nearly forgotten by Sega. Yes, but blaze is in a similar boat to silver, outside the rush games, she’s not been given any focus or attention, when the blueprint was right there, she was an already established character from a well received game, great design and abilities. But allas, here we are. Sega really messed up with her AND silver, So unfortunately, a year of blaze is very unlikely.
I think my main issue with Silver's 06 story is the fact that most of it contradicts the established story. For one thing, his connection with Blaze can't be possible in the narrative if Blaze was already written as being from a different dimension altogether. Not another timeline 200 years in the future. (Might make a few fans upset) Honestly, Blaze should have been added into 06 differently. Not just dumped into it for fan service. There's always got to be a point where it all mixed in perfectly to the main story. Let's hope that is what happens this year.

A Year of Blaze would be better objectively, and since Blaze & Silver are frequently a duo, then have all the silver stuff be a part of blazes year! So it would be about the Sonic Rush games + colors DS, and Sonic 06! And Sonic Rivals 1+2!
@ let me clarify. A year of Blaze would be better than a year of silver. A year of Blaze is objectively gonna have an opportunity to showcase and use MORE content than for silver. Blaze has been in more things and has more stuff than silver. All silver has is just Sonic 06 and a bunch of very minuscule roles and appearances since then. But Blaze has Sonic 06, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, an entire separate dimension, unique super form, seperate set of emeralds, is a ruler of a empire, etc. silver is just guy from ruined future with some psychokinesis powers and that’s about it.
@@Kiezly Year of Blaze would be a bigger flop commercially than Silver. Yes Blaze has more content to work with, but ultimately she's even more lesser known than Silver. Her most prominent roles was a 2005 DS game, Rush Adventure underperformed in sales, and she has played minor roles since.

Maybe to OG and Hardcore fans. To casuals, Knuckles was extremely overhyped, because he was compared to Sonic as if he was his physical equal, albeit just in strength instead of speed. Yet, Knuckles is usually only regulated to being one 3rd of Team Sonic, with him having far less story relevance than Sonic or even Tails and Shadow on average.
Don’t get me wrong; I love Knuckles on paper, but I just feel he could be utilized more effectively than Sega does 90% of the time. If Knux is as strong as Sonic is fast, why don’t we have more moments of Knuckles doing things like punching through black holes. I was starting to think they were going to let him shine a bit more, but then I saw the trailer for the Sonic 3 movie, where he got manhandled by Shadow, and lost hope again. Knux is like Metal Sonic, both are a stated to be on par with Sonic, but are extremely slept on because they are overshadowed by Shadow.

Let’s be honest, Silver was only truly a major character in 06 and the Rivals games, former being a terrible game and the latter being unknown to the general population. He’s not been in a single Sonic Cartoon, didn’t get a role in any of the All Stars games so missed the hype of the Sonic Racing genre, he’s not even had been Super Silver since his first appearance. The closest I can think of their being hype around him was the 2010 Mario & Sonic game where he was amongst the group of newcomers, but Sonic fans barely ever talk about those games.
He definitely is given some justice in the comics, but be brutally honest and tell me do we think the Mainstream cares about those comics? Compare this to Shadow, who even in his drought season (otherwise known as the 2010s) still was hugely popular in the general public, even getting mass requested to be in the Boom TV show despite the character in the game being at his worst incarnation. Silver is either going to need something big on the horizon before they try a Year of Silver gamble, or it’s no use!

1) Lost World was nowhere near the financial bomber that 06 left on the ground, and is frankly forgotten about in this era.
2) Those same writers were also pushing to keep Orbot and Cubot around despite most people not liking them in Colours, which have still stuck despite the more serious writing of the 2020s.
3) Despite still being used, Silver has not been granted any form of major screen time in any Sonic Games since the Rivals Series. Note his biggest appearance since 06 was his boss fight in Generations.
4) Throwing an entire year to a specific character is not something you just throw out or any side character, Shadow being heavily pushed in the early 2000s coupled with being the star in SA2 (arguably the most popular Sonic game) proved profitable to make a year around, Silver does have such luck. If Nintendo couldn’t make the year of Luigi work, the brother to their mascot, then I don’t think Silver would work unless they pulled something truly big with him *before* the event.

Pretty much almost every aspect of frontiers makes it a silver game. The story, the tone, the theme, the premise, even the gameplay has fighting and traversing separated, something sonic shouldn't be.
What if Frontiers starred Silver as the main protagonist and focused on time travel? How'd the game's events have played out?
All the kids who grew up with 06 are starting to reach adulthood... I think a Year of Silver _can_ work if they play their cards right. Nostalgia sells, after all.

4:30 If I recall correctly, in one of the cutscenes in 06 they showed Silver fly off really fast with his psychic powers, so CANONICALLY he should be able to fly faster. They really fumbled the bag with his gameplay in 06 (but then again, they fumbled a LOT in 06).
With movie influence, we are more in for a year of Metal, maybe a year of Amy. It could go either way

Sonic has games like... eh action and adventure and all that, Shadow with his thing that even seems to want to be a God of War but with a lot of speed... imagine Silver in a more different genre, I mean like a game where everything is less intense and fast and is more exploratory, of course without losing too much rhythm, and in several levels even exploring the character, it would be interesting to see a facet of the character and of course something different from the other hedgehog protagonists.

I personally would LOVE a year of Silver. When you think about it, we know so little about him. A year of Silver would be a perfect way to give him a more detailed backstory, and explore his psychokynetic powers more. I agree with you that his gameplay should be more fast-paced, because come on its a sonic game. If SEGA released a game with Silver as the main character i would be SO HAPPY.. This guy deserves so much more, and has so much potential to be as well known as the rest of the hedgehogs. I hope sega will do a year of Silver. It probably wont be this year, but maybe next year or 2027?

It wouldn't make sense if you were to connect it to past events with plot holes like Blaze being there or that damn BLUE chaos emerald. Heck, the end of the world stage don't even feature any level from past sonic games.

The Blue Chaos Emerald has an abstract existence similar to the Master Emerald shown in Sonic Rivals. The End of the World is meant to showcase places that were present in Soleanna since that is where Solaris was resurrected. Sonic 06 acts on the once a new timeline is created through changes in the past, if any events that prevented that timeline from existing are triggered, that timeline is then erased. Think of Back to the Future 2 time travel rules. It is not contained as a separate pocket dimension whatsoever.
I think I disagree with this video but here's why: People are more open to The Bigger Sonic Universe now and Early-Late 2000's Sonic Content (especially Adventure 2, 06, Shadow '05 and Unleashed being moreso praised nowadays) and Silver was apart of that. But I do agree with a commenter that Silver's best Chance is The Movies. I think the SCU will adapt Silver but NOT in the 06 Storyline but rather Sonic Adventure 1's Storyline with very minor aspects of '06, as people remember Adventure 1 Fondly over '06, '06 is getting somewhat better in terms of it's reception (I think P-06 helps with that) but it's still negative-mixed. So I think a Smart Idea would be to Mix a Beloved Sonic Plot with a Character who had a bad debut and finally show off how cool they can be when given the right material. Meanwhile SEGA/Sonic Team in 2027/2028 can be Cooking up Two Silver Releases; A Silver The Hedgehog Game and a Silver Gens DLC Pack for Sonic x Shadow Generations along with getting the guys who did Shadow Generations Dark Beginnings to cook up a Three Part Prequel Animation for both Games whilst the Movie Team Hypes Up Silver and Chaos on the Big Screen for Movie 5. I won't deny a Year of Silver will be Tougher to pull off but it can be done, if SEGA play their cards right (which they have been doing recently).

Yeah, you'd need to build Silver up a bit to give him his own year. There definitely is a leap of faith needed from the team in that regard anyway; but that leap should look like "giving Silver a major roll in a game" not "dedicating a year to him".
I'd say that should start out with how they jumpstarted Shadow; giving Silver his own solo game to explore that character & draw from down the line. But even then I'm not sure he could carry a solo game story-wise tbh.
Maybe if he co-stared in a spin-off game though? Like give him a game with Blaze, she could do with another staring roll anyway. Plus she seems easier to write a game for; fans have wanted to see more of her home setting for years now.

They don't really need a whole year dedicated to a character to justify a single spinoff game.
I think the reason people are assuming there will be a year of Silver is just because he is a hedgehog like Sonic and Shadow. Silver really doesn't have much of a history. He was only a main player in one mainline game he only had a small part in forces. There is just not enough history with Silver to give him a "year of Silver." I think Tails and Knuckles deserve there own years then Silver does.
I think that a bigger problem with a Year of Silver and Sonic characters having their own years is that many of them don't have that strong marketing factor and hype as Shadow who basically sells himself and I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Shadow spin off series after the success of Shadow Generations.
Not saying Sonic characters aren't marketable but I'm not sure how well a game starring Tails will be something general audiences would sell even if it was amazing.I think Knuckles is the only other character who has that factor to sell his own game with how prominent he was in Movie 2 and his own spinoff show despite how much of a waste that was.
As for Silver,I don't think he should have his own year right away but give him more prominent roles in stuff like the upcoming mainline Sonic game and the movies,if his appearances are well recieved then maybe there's a chance him and ofher Sonic characters can get their own years.

Honestly one idea I’ve had recently with Silver (and I’m not sure if I’m the only one who thought of this. Who knows someone might’ve thought this too.) was the idea to reintroduce him and make him originate from the SOL DIMENSION & its future. That way you can keep his connection with Blaze and possibly remake 06 as a story in the Sol Dimension. Make it so Soliana is the major human story of Blaze’s world like SA1/SA2 is to Sonic. By extension this would in a way make Silver Shadow’s Sol Dimension counterpart. Both being hedgehogs with unique abilities on top of speed. (Chaos powers and psychokinesis respectively) Both would have a connection to a different time period (Past & Future) & both would be antagonistic in their first appearance. Blaze would become the Iblis trigger Mephiles mentions and so like Shadow & Sonic, Silver and Blaze come into conflict. This way the Sol Dimension gets expanded on and you can reintroduce Soliana & Mephiles without having to bring back the original. (Also you can make it so it’s Eggman Nega instead of OG Eggman kidnapping Elise and this would reintroduce Nega back into the Sol Dimension to fix the mess that’s his backstory since Rivals) Plus it would give Blaze and Sliver a chance to shine. Plus it gives Sliver another chance. I literally had this idea come to me a few days after beating Mephiles in Shadow Generations. So I’m curious on how people would react to this idea.

Silver just doesn't have much of a presence to justify getting a whole year devoted to him. Tail, Knuckles, and Amy are probably the only other characters who could warrent that, and honestly, i could see a year of Amy happening in 2026/2027 to coincide with Sonic 4.
Metal Sonic makes the most sense to get a year to me. Main antagonist of the next movie, plus an easy shoe-in for whatever tie-in game they release alongside it.

I think Silver needs his own game to re-establish the '06 game by just saying that it was ripped away to some separate pocket dimension away from the timeline, and was able to return thanks to the Time Eater shenanigans in Generations, or re-introduce the Time Stones or something and have Silver explore his personal past (future) again. He could even enlist the help of Shadow to become more powerful and find out what happened to his original appearance and what his purpose is. It could even introduce an origins of some sort.
Yes, I know this sounds an awful lot like Shadow the Hedgehog, but Silver definitely needs an extra boost of confidence to reconnect himself back to the Sonic franchise as a well-established character. He's currently the unwanted Raiden to Sonic and Shadow's Solid Snake and Big Boss, to compare this to Metal Gear Solid for a sec.

I understand that many Sonic characters aren't as popular as Sonic and his edgy counterpart Shadow but that doesn't mean it wouldn't do good. Sega just needs to have more faith and do more work for others instead of putting them on the sidelines. Sonic Advanced was a great idea to use characters instead of just sidelining them.
The problem isn't the characters, the real problem is Sega not using them.
"Year of silver" is the equivalent of Sonic team commiting seppuku. No matter how many Sonic fans there are, there's no way it's gonna be a big enough success. Silver is not at the level of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. He's not as iconic, he's not as well known, he certainly doesn't have a ground to stand on compared to those characters. You gotta start from the ground up and build him a reputation if you ever want this to succeed. And sure the movie might help with that, but that won't automatically be enough to make him carry a whole game on his own. Simply put "You're not that guy"
I think the only way for him to gain relevance is if they essentially remake Sonic 06 or bring him in through Sonic frontiers 2. His fate was sealed when Sonic 06 flopped

im ngl i rlly hate this narrative of silver not being allowed to showcase "innocence" or a softer personality. he can be a badass while still maintaining a relatively wholesome demeanor! not only does it juxtapose him with the cool and free sonic and the antiheroic somberness of shadow, but i think it makes sense. silver’s core motivations are steeped in hope/determination. having been born in a future of Ruin, of course he’s going to marvel at the little things - perfect nature, blue skies, the lighthearted natures of his friends. and it doesn’t even take away much from his threat factor. it’s a nice change of pace and i hate pretending its not. that personal grievance aside though, i do agree with the rest of the video-until he’s actually fleshed out proper and "redeemed" in the eyes of the public, dedicating a year to him would be a waste. and that’s coming from being his biggest defender
I absolutely adore silver and although he hasn't had much major time in the spotlight I still love his character and I love how his personality contrasts with both Sonic and Shadow. I've always viewed silver as the more optimistic and hopeful person out of the main cast which I think works nicely next to Sonic's Carefree Attitude and Shadows More Serious personality. and although I don't agree with him being "written like a cinnamon roll" I think it's pretty nice getting to see him experience things he wasn't able to in his timeline, the only way I could see Silver getting a year to himself would be Sonic Team either remakes 06 (Which I doubt they will) or they just go the Shadow route and make a whole new game where Silver is playable, either way I just hope they end up using him more because he's such a cool character and there's definitely a lot of stories you could tell with him.

The issue with Silver is that you can only send him back to fix the past so many times before that gets tired. So there's only 3 options.
1: Send him back to the past to deal with a problem that won't resolve itself after one storyline. That way, he can stick around and work towards it. Kinda like what they did with him in the Archie comics.
2: Have him save the future, but be unable to go back. Changing the past would have created a whole new timeline, with a new future and an already existing version of Silver from the timeline. Ironically, Silver wouldn't have any place in the future that he saved.
3: Give Silver his own game set in his original time. I'm sure people would love to see more of the future Silver comes from. With more advanced technology and ESP being commonplace, it seems like it would have a lot of storytelling potential.
I had a goofy idea for a silver game where after talking to sonic and friends he goes back to his his time, but he knows something is off. There is a big Neo building in the middle of crisis city. He goes to check it out and realizes that the heavy king (from sonic mania) used the power of the time stones (from sonic CD) to to mess with and rearrange the timeline where Eggman would’ve won and silver tries to stop and then and there once the heavy king basically teleport him to a place similar to white space (from sonic generations) and silver has to go through alternate versions of past levels like a nuclear power plant version of chemical plant or a ruined version of Angel Island in order to fix the timeline.

I think instead of a movie, we have a animated tv show that features him, Silver and possibly Shadow in the future teaching him. And it doesn’t involve Sonic and his friends. I’m tired of media showcasing him as another one of Sonic’s friends or allies. He’s his own character with a setting that needs to be explored. It is true that we know very little of Silver and his first appearance was in Sonic '06. Which we all know wasn't a good game. I haven't played Rivals 1 & 2 because I didn't have a PSP. I know he is in those games. So, I think creating a brand-new game for Silver would be a good idea. To really learn more about his character and his past. With better technology, Sonic Team could really flesh out his gameplay mechanics a bit more.
Also, Sonic Team stated that they were interested in remaking Sonic '06, so, maybe this would be a good opportunity for them to not only fix the gameplay, but to also fix the story as well. The movies could definitely give Silver a boost in recognition -- if his characterization is handled successfully.

Honestly the best Way i could see Silver having a major role in a sonic game ever again is maybe in a Sonic heroes Sequel or have a game be about perhaps Silver and Future Shadow, I think Shadow would be in the future timeline since he cannot age!

Even if we write Silver more like he was in the late 2000s (hopefully not keeping his more jerkier side) I wouldn’t mind them still continuing his dilemma from IDW, where he’s trying to figure out what to fix the future with as he’s in the past for the specific reason. Keeping continuity with it since it is canon. Or maybe have IDW complete that and we get a story somewhat adapting Archie where Silver is in a world that he never existed in. Diluted from the timeline basically and has to deal with whatever problems his new future has that doesn’t need rewriting the past to fix.

Imo, i think metal sonic is one of the only characters who could carry their own spin-off. Hes a very easy character to understand, and i feel he has alot of appeal.
Maybe not a whole year, but I'd like it if Silver got some more love. Just keep Blaze out of it, she's poison to him.
They could make the next Sonic game heavily involve Silver, but i think the issue is that the next movie will focus on Metal Sonic and Amy so i find way more likely for them to try to do marketing for these character from now on.
The worst thing with silver is that in 06 he’s slow, in the other spinoff games he’s up to speed. Make him another fast character (make him fly fast when in run animation) so that Sonic runs, shadow skates, and silver floats to go fast, keep his telekinesis as a power but they should find out how to implement it as a game mechanic. And his personality is perfect the way it is, he can be serious but also relaxed and kind, a mix between shadow’s grimness and Sonic’s energy.
I gotta be honest. I'm having a great bit of fun when booting silvers levels up on playstation 3.
The slowdown is annoying, but the various glitches amuse me and i love 06's Level design and like silvers slower paced gameplay.
I think it's just a me issue, but sonic 06 is one of the only games i can actually sit down and have a calm time with. The glitches make me not want to tryhard or overthink things because at any moment my character might randomlly fall through the floor.

Silver getting a resurgence would absolutely lead to him becoming a Cinnamon role, especially if they make a 4th film based on Sonic '06. They will change him from Future Trunks and turn him into Izuku Midoria.
I feel like there should be two modes for Silver. One where he is quick and his telekinesis is equally fast, and another where he's not as quick but he has elaborate telekinesis usage and is essentially him focusing on telekinesis. Basically a "Level traversal" mode and a "Combat" mode

I enjoyed silver gameplay in sonic 06, the fact that he was slow didn't affect me at all, I enjoyed using the shockwave on enemies and then lift them up and throwing them into the next set of enemies. To be honest I can't see him being super fast as I feel like that would contradict his combat, and then his gameplay would be a stop and go, but how I feel. You also can't just remove his ability to pick up objects and throw it at enemies.

I totally get why Silver is so popular, but after I actually analyzed what this character has, he feels like potential that was never reached and is stuck to never being reached. Like, Sega has never even established how he time travels post 06. I'm gonna sound so harsh here but what history are we celebrating with the "Year of Silver". A rushed slop job and a duology no one cares about, all of which he's extremely average character wise. There's so much work you have to do with Silver and it feels like the only one's that would get the W here are the Silver fans, a much smaller group than anyone is willing to admit. With that being said, I wouldn't be opposed to a Silver game that can establish actually interesting things about his character.
Yeah that's the real problem. Shadow basically had deuteragonist status from SA2 to 06. Maybe S&tBK (which Silver didn't get a role in despite having a knight counterpart).

I think the time travel aspect should be axed. It's a story beat that's easy to screw up, especially if he can time travel at will. He already has his psychokinesis which is a pretty cool power. He should either be a psychic, which would add to his psychokinesis. Or if he must remain a time traveler, something similar to Sailor Pluto, where he's a time guardian who steps in when the future turns bleak

What if his move that lets him use telekinesis for rearranging the level he can rotate objects around him and be able to create ramps out of ruble or a fallen tower by propping it up on something? Or there could be way to have his just hold the debris in the air so he could platform off of them or create bridges with a pillar. Maybe he could create a trampoline thing with a piece of debris where he stands on it and then pushes it into the air with him?

Probably a Shadow the Hedgehog Spin off like Knuckles, which will have Black Doom, Rouge and Omega then we get the Sonic 4 movie where the whole time travel aspect of the movie adaptating CD will bring up Mephilles at some point, or maybe just end up with a post credits scene where Silver appears and beats the shit out of Sonic
Then Sonic 5 (the last movie) has Sonic, Shadow and Silver teaming up against Mephilles at the end bringing an epic conclusion to the movie series and a newfound relevance to Silver's character.

I feel a Year of Silver could be beneficial for him. Though, yes. He isn't known by the mainstream but the Sonic Franchise Is, things they put out gets seen. The Movies could be his great start but a game could also be so helpful, he's more loved than people realize and just like Shadow Gens It could be the perfect way to flesh him and his future out. Considering how the Rivals games are some of the most forgotten pieces of Sonic media in general, I would say Blaze has a better claim to a Year of her own. She also has a much more defined character, and her homeworld is fairly fleshed out. I would focus on her first.
It's interesting seeing this sentiment as someone who wanted to (but never did) play 06 as a kid. It's one of the only Sonic games i missed, but because of that I actually know very little about Silver. Means I couldn't care less about him tbh. What if Sonic 06 was good? How'd history have changed for Silver's character and the Sonic franchise?
I hope they go for a time travelling plot were they reintroduce Silver in Movie 4 in my perfect version of the movie Neo Metal is the main Antagonist whose goal is kidnapping Sonic and harness his power while Silver takes a side Antagonist role for the first half where he chases Sonic around so he can kill him before Neo Metal can achive his goal and by the second half they join forces and go to the future to defeat Neo Metal. Sonic and Silver go and take the chaos emerald (you can reuse the concept that the chaos emeraland can make time travel from 06 and just say Silver had them but didn't know that they could make him so powerfull and he used them only for time travel) while the rest of team sonic is holding of Neo and his army Silver and Sonic arrive to the battle and they have a epic 2v1 against Neo but they still manage to lose it and to make things worst Neo Metal is Super Neo Metal everyone has given up except Silver who stands up saying "no I won't give up there has to be a way to destroy him" and he by the end he manages to defeat Neo Metal and save his future Sonic team go back home now with Amy that decided to go with them and the movie ends. (I think it would be a nice way to create a new origin story for him that isn't to much different from the game. In the movie Amy would also be a time traveller and she would be the one convince Silver to not kill Sonic because she thinks togheter they can defeat Metal and it isn't right of the to kill Sonic just to save the timeline. I know they line of Silver are kinda corny but i love the fact he is just a representation of hope.)

I know it sounds naive considering how Sega is but it would be cool if there was a spin off game of Silver where the prologue would be like when in a game the protagonist is typically in a lonely but serene place and explores here and there while the player learns how to use it, it would be like a kind of hollow knight because it is like you explore the character and of course you face obstacles, there would even be cameos or mentions like Sonic or other characters, I mean while Sonic is like adventure and action and Shadow is something intense and moved, Silver would be something calmer, not so many enemies but as if you were exploring with the character especially with his telekinetic powers.

Maybe even make him playable in a few segments. And get his psychokinesis right; if they do that, and he builds up a stronger and more promising fanbase, I’m pretty sure they’ll realise the missed out potential he has
I think there is a huge misunderstanding within the Sonic fanbase about the status of 06 in the canon. The events of that game are still canon and were experienced by all the characters in that game, they were just wiped away from their memories. As for Silver, based on his character bio in Sonic Fast Friends and Generations, he is the same Silver from 06 and was born in that timeline destroyed by Iblis, he just does not remember how his future was saved so he might have some memories of 06. It is still part of the continuity hence why we see things from 06 in Generations.
About the gameplay side of Silver, I think you could look at Shadow's situation here, how in Shadow The Hedgehog(2005) game he had guns and vehicles and underwhelming Chaos powers etc, making gameplay and pacing, which not very appealed to masses, but in Shadow Generations having all thoose cool, fitting Boost formula gameplay, Chaos powers. All I mean, is that Silver's telecinesis can have a lot more to it, rather than just flying and throwing stuff, Sonic Team just needs to put some mind to it, to make his abilities fun for fast-pased gameplay. Also I think Silver could be as fast and Sonic and Shadow using his levitation powers. Unlike them, he is not slowed down by surface fraction. As of the lore side, nothing is unachivable with smart story writing. I know people have no hopes for Flynn writing, but I think anything can be achived with power of friendship, and by that I mean, that there should be more collaborative effort writing stories. As I heard, Shadow Generations story was made just like that.

open level design
stamina/action gauge you need to manage to use hover and teleport dash
grab items such as boxes and rubble with R2/RT, throw them with square/X to kill enemies to gain action gauge back faster or throw them and freeze them with L2/LT to use as platforms to jump of off or use as walls to teleport dash off of to gain speed

Yeah, this is the main reason why I’m more wanting a year for Metal Sonic or Amy since they actually showed up IN the third movie, have a pretty good group of fans, and is known more than Silver. Both characters personally deserve to be gone into more depth into, and it would be fun to see them have their own mainline game too. I think the only way for Silver to get some space in the Sonic franchise if there was a Sonic 06 remaster of sorts, or a game that has Silver as a main focus, before they give him the “Year of” treatment.
If they want to make Silver apart of the big 3, with the whole Past, Present and Future spiel, then they have to give Silver more of a character then what we’ve seen now. As much as I like the idea of Silver being sweet and a “cinnamon” roll depicted in the comics, Silver deserves more respect than being babied by the audience and seen as a joke.
So many say that Silver is the weakest, pulling the clip of Silver getting kicked on the back of his head by Shadow (ngl hilarious), but people don’t see how Silver stood his ground until Shadow used the emerald, both tired at the end of it, matching, Silver was the one who matched Infinite and even knocked out the phantom Ruby, even knocked down Sonic, and if it wasn’t a kid friendly game, he could just drown someone with his powers or crush their bones.
He is capable and determined, and he can be arrogant and desperate when it comes to getting his way. He can be gentle to those who don’t pose a threat to him, and doesn’t just look for a fight. He can be threatening when needing too. Not to mention, Silver never smiled during 06, telling a lot about how he was affected.
Not to mention mentally. The guy lost everything he loved, watching his people around him die. And yet he keeps on going through it all. And has to deal with saving the future over and over again, no matter how long it takes.
He’s the most underrated, unappreciated, and mysterious hedgehog out of the big 3. Amy isn’t even a main focus half the time, but even she has a backstory (even if she’s misunderstood).

Dark Gaia rises again in the future and Silver is asked by an old friend of Sonic to go back to the past and weaken Dark Gaia resurgence from there by doing werehog stages in daylight.
I think for a silver game, it would make sense to base it off of the future. (revolutionary I know) shadows game focus on the past, sonics games rely on quick thinking in the moment aka present, silvers game would have to be a look into the future of what sega wants to do. (also I had a dream where I played as silver in a brawl type game, tap and holding the jump button made him fly and holding the attack button made him pick up bigger and bigger stuff but you couldn't move while he did this. also it would be funny if year of silver was 2026) anyway I agree with video :]
For Silver I imagine a Sonic x Silver World Adventure (Unleashed), were while Sonic defeats Eggman and Dark Gaia while exploring the present world Silver does the same in the future while fighting Dark Gaia(new form) and Eggman Nega. Not only we would get the first Sonic game were we explore the future but it would also be a way to see Silver interact with his time line (and in this scenario Chip would be his buddy). I don't know if it's a good concept, but it's the best possible to me
I want Year of Blaze the Cat she deserves this waaay more She was before Silver and in my opinion much better than him and has more potential for an character origin and to learn more about her world and empire plus her abilities. She was Peak in the Sonic Rush Games and ever since 06 She been disrespected and nearly forgotten by Sega. I really hope she gets an Year treatment to get her own game to be playable as an main character again and her own Movie based in the Sol dimension. its been way overdue for 20 years now 💙💜🔥🌪
Yes, but blaze is in a similar boat to silver, outside the rush games, she’s not been given any focus or attention, when the blueprint was right there, she was an already established character from a well received game, great design and abilities. But allas, here we are. Sega really messed up with her AND silver, So unfortunately, a year of blaze is very unlikely.

I actually think a Sonic X Silver Heroes would be amazing. They could have team silver with silver, blaze, and maybe mephiles.
I think my main issue with Silver's 06 story is the fact that most of it contradicts the established story. For one thing, his connection with Blaze can't be possible in the narrative if Blaze was already written as being from a different dimension altogether. Not another timeline 200 years in the future. (Might make a few fans upset) Honestly, Blaze should have been added into 06 differently. Not just dumped into it for fan service. There's always got to be a point where it all mixed in perfectly to the main story. Let's hope that is what happens this year.

Knuckles, Tails, Amy, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Blaze, Silver, Big, The Babylon Rogues, The Chaotix.
i honestly want a year of amy so bad my girl deserves it. a game with amy as the protagonist would be awesome. the other ones i really want to be real in order are 1. Knuckles 2. Blaze and 3. Silver

@Simply_resharkable I’m not factoring in Pull. I’m only mentioning characters that have enough history, lore, appearances, cameos, times they were playable. That’s why I didn’t mention Anyone else. Every other character is either too obscure or hasn’t had enough stuff to make an entire year off of, that’s why no IDW characters are here either.

SA1 Froggy went missing, as of Shadow Gens we know his appearances in SA2 are because Froggy went missing, in Heroes, Froggy went missing. A Year of Blaze would be better objectively, and since Blaze & Silver are frequently a duo, then have all the silver stuff be a part of blazes year! So it would be about the Sonic Rush games + colors DS, and Sonic 06! And Sonic Rivals 1+2!

@ let me clarify. A year of Blaze would be better than a year of silver. A year of Blaze is objectively gonna have an opportunity to showcase and use MORE content than for silver. Blaze has been in more things and has more stuff than silver. All silver has is just Sonic 06 and a bunch of very minuscule roles and appearances since then. But Blaze has Sonic 06, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, an entire separate dimension, unique super form, seperate set of emeralds, is a ruler of a empire, etc. silver is just guy from ruined future with some psychokinesis powers and that’s about it.
@@Kiezly Year of Blaze would be a bigger flop commercially than Silver. Yes Blaze has more content to work with, but ultimately she's even more lesser known than Silver. Her most prominent roles was a 2005 DS game, Rush Adventure underperformed in sales, and she has played minor roles since.
