Thank you for joining me for this episode of Vintage Kitchen Vixen! How do you usually clean your home? Do you wing it like I used to, or do you have a tried and true system?
I actually don't just sing it. I've Bern in process of climbing out of a chaotic mess for about 2 years, after some major life events de-raiked my ability to keep up. It-s been a constant battle trying to create and implement a routine that will help me de-clutter in reasonable chunks at a time, AND maintain each area once it's in maintenance mode. I came across The Organised Mim Method after searching for a method that was easy to comprehend and execute right out of the gate, just do that zi could start to see progress right from the beginning. And wow! The progress has been huge, although it's been slow and steady. However, ,y biggest challenge has always Bern. Sticking to a timer, e en if a task doesn't get co p,eted. So, I kept modifying the method...alot. I mean, to the point where it no longer ger looked like TOMM. And zi was STILL stressed and still taking way too long to do basic weekly and monthly tasks. Along the way, I picked up tips from The zclutter Bug, That Awkward Mom, The Secret zslob, Today With Terri, and many more. I never was interested in Fly Lady. Just looking g at the website was way too overwhelming and I couldn't figure out how it comes together. I a.ready have all or most of the baby steps in p,ace in my routine. I developed most of those habits over the years.
Clutter Bug really helped me figure how to organize a room or area once I Got the clutter I Der control.Her tips were that Second game changer for me after TOMM. And zi found, that e ery time I tried a different cleaning system, whether it was someone else's or my own, it always brought me full circle back to TO,M as my baseline for housecleaning routines. Howe er, I was still feeling overwhelmed. Thst is, u til I saw Thst Awkward Mom's Tidy Tango video and her Weekly Blessing Video. That was it! I knew then thay I needed the app so thst I could create routines that meshed TOMM and Fly Lady together! I just did ,y first WeeKly Blessing yesterday, after making my own check list. I combined 30 minutes of what TOMM calls her weekly focus level 3 cleaning, which is the rotating deep cleaning, fo.lowed by 3 10 minute weekly tasks to give me a head start in weekly cleaning in my zones this week. So, in my weekly zone cleaning, all I have e to do is the bathroom for each day's zone, one quick monthly task for thst zone. Then mop the floors for thst zone. Windows, wall pictures and light wand dusting are already done. I am so excited to see how close to 30 minutes I can get today's zone cleaning done!
Anyway, sorry for rambling. I do that alot. I just can't he but share how thrilled zi am thst I finally feel like I got this! I had to combine aspects from more than one method, take tips from other people, and find my own hacks. But using TOMM as my base and bringing pieces of Fly Lady I to it once I figured out my organising style, was the game changer! I no longer have to feel o erwhelmed. I am now proud of my progress and I am proud of my home, even while it still has a long way to go. I don't feel overwhelmed, because every time zi see an area thst needs attention, I know thst it will get dealt at some point. And zi am not dealing with non-daily yanks 2 days put of my week. It's practically a non-negotiable for me. Nope...no winging it. But I was s scatter-brained and overwhel Ed. Not anymore.

In the main menu where all of the zones are listed, hit the edit icon and then the zone, then you can change the names and delete rooms you don’t have.

I’m bummed that my old routines were erased, but it had been a while since I updated those, so they probably needed to be decluttered anyway! One thing I like is to add emojis for each task. You’ll know the task just by the emoji. Also, so great that they updated it so the Zones can be edited now! 🎉🎉 Thanks again! 💕
Adding emoji’s is a great idea! I’m going to start doing that.

The app is available for Android devices through Google Play, but if you don't have Google Play on your device, you won't be able to download it.
Thank you kindly for your reply. FlyLady has certainly come a long way with her offerings! I knew of the APP but did not know it was free until this video.. I can deal with apps and phones and such.. I will attempt to download it on my kindle... In the meantime I downloaded it after this tutorial ..She is definitely my go to when the relapse happens 💯💯@@VintageKitchenVixen

You can edit the zones by clicking on the pencil icon across from "zones" and the screen will change and you will be able to click the pencil & paper icon or the trash icon. The pencil and paper icon allows you to change zone name, tasks, and number.

@@VintageKitchenVixen I was able to edit them that way, but I wasn't able to assign certain zones to each day of the week. I know she breaks down the zone cleaning by spending a whole week in one zone. But I do a zone A day for weekly cleaning, plus one monthly task per zone over week. Then, on my Weekly Home Blessing day, zi spend 40 minutes in a zone doing the rotating really deep cleaning, and the other 30 minutes doing 5-10 mi ute weekly tasks to give e my weekly cleaning a head start. I want to be able to cha get which days I do the WHB and the other zone cleaning, be a use my days off from non-dailies change every 1-2 months.
Foe example: today zi will be in Zone 1 and tomorrow it will be Zone 2, but the current zone on the app is zone 4 for a whole week, so I'll always look
Ike I'm behind or ahead in a zone. I am glad you pushed for the edit option. Overall, this app is extremely user friendly, especially gor a technically challenged gal like ,yself lol
You can delete and edit zone. Names and group rooms to work for you. I can’t exactly remember how but click around until you see edit.
Wow… it’s come so far…. I belonged to Flylady when she first started many years ago…
The FlyLady website is still stuck in 1999, but the app is awesome! I wish I would’ve known about her system ages ago.
It really helped me maintain my home while raising and homeschooling my three kids.

I don't have a dining room either...I treat the eating area of my kitchen as the dining room. This makes the kitchen zone less onerous.

Does this app have offline mode? I don't always have access to internet and need a digital app that can be used offline. Of all the productivity apps, this one is the easiest to use, but it will be useless during the times when I have limited internet access.
I don’t believe it does. The app doesn’t load any of the checklists when it’s offline.
@@VintageKitchenVixen thanks! I kind of thought that was the case. I did figure something out, I think my Samsung Notes pad can be used of- line, so I can create lists on my notepad for my Cabin home, using the same kind of lists as on the app. I will need to create a completely different schedule for the cabin anyway.
How do you reaet the app back to default settings? I love flylady btw.
That’s a good question! Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app on your phone? If that doesn’t work, maybe create a new account?
I had joined FlyLady when she first started but I just downloaded this app to make it easier with my phone. One question, I tried to change a task & after saving it, it doesn’t upgrade to my new task. Is it that I need to pay or what am I doing wrong? Anything will help. Thanks.
No, it’s not a paid app, so it’s not that. Are you using an iPhone or an Android? I use an iPhone and have never had this issue. After you save the change, are you also tapping on the “Done” button at the bottom? The change should stick as soon as you save it, so if that’s not happening, it might be a bug. I’m sorry I can’t help more!

Did I not cover zone 5 in the video? I think zone 5 is the living room in the app. I'm sorry if I skipped over it!
