Never been here before but bruh I love your 'Casual Cinephile Critic' system - it really grinds my gears when someone grades/judges a movie based on them having come to it with a 'wrong' mindset and acting like the film was somehow bad because they wanted a popcorn flick out of an arthouse piece, or vice versa. It's true that many movies can be enjoyed many ways, but I think it's so critical to actually keep in mind what the movie was trying to be / achieve and judge it on those merits; and the idea of looking at it from each lense and each one having a different overall grade both makes perfect sense and allows a movie to be much more fairly judged in the end. Props on that system, very smart.
Oh man thank you so much for that! Many don’t understand my mindset with the grading but you just summed it up pretty well. Appreciate it!
@@3CFilmsI recently found your channel as well, and can’t get enough of your reviews. Slowly making my way back through time.

Cris is the best
Welcome to one of the best channels in the game when it comes to movie reviews and news! Chris is legit and always brings an authenticity to his reviews without being like some of these other “over the top” reviewers
The marketing really sold a different movie, this was still good but i hope people dont get disappointed over it
Ya I took my buddy who saw the trailer and was surprised about the actual story
I can’t recommend this movie to everyone but I fucking love it . 9/10 🎥.
Kevin fiege is that you?
It’s not for the squeamish, that’s for sure
It was provocative and unsettling in ways I wasn’t expecting. I really enjoyed it as well. The actors were amazing. Good casting
do to personal reasons and against what gregg marcus told me my mind was elsewhere but after i took a nap and am recolecting the movie i really like it as well....(Im not tryna swear but STAY IN THE HOUSE,CARL!!!!
I love the movie. I picked up a few things I missed in my own prep for the SHTF. Most importantly, I am ready not just in the sense of supplies. I am ready mentally to do what it takes to survive.
Imagine Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nightcrawler as a Journalist in this universe 😂
Dude is probably killing it
@@3CFilms Literally.
Loved the movie, especially when they dragged Trump screaming from behind the desk in the oval office.
Getting political is definitely a red flag comment. Person: "slavery is wrong." MAGA Republican: "Let's not get political here."
This movie is spooky cause it feels like this is right around the corner. I saw it last night and It was so good
And the scary part is both sides think that they’re in the right.
@@jacksonscott690that’s war lol
The right is definitely right, the left has lost There mind and is ruining this country
No it doesn't. Another American Civil War is not going to happen anytime soon. The only way we will see it happen is through dystopian war films like this one. If anything it will be more like domestic terrorists attacking America than a new civil war.
@@KYDATHEART 🥰
This is one of those movies you watch once and never again, but not because it was bad. Just because it leaves you with such an unsettling horror.
We'll be prolly living it soon.😂
No it was bad, that's why
I love when war movies like Civil War and Saving Private Ryan truly capture the fear and emotions that would actually be in war and not some movie that makes you want to join the army cause it looks awesome
factual
Seeing it in an hour. A24 been hitting a mostly good streak for me, Everything Everywhere, The Whale, Past Lives, and The Iron Claw have all ranked high for me by the time the end of the year rolls around, so I hope this’ll do the same for me as those other films 🔥
How was it
Idc what anyone say Iron Claw was top tier for me last year
@@PoTheAllandMighty pretty good, I’d give it an 8.5/10 right about now…
@@IggyTheLighskinWonder idc what anyone tells me, The Iron Claw is one of the best movies this decade for me, right up there with Spider Verse, Suzume, Evangelion, Top Gun, Minus One, etc
Dream sequence was pretty good
Every gunshot is a jump-scare.
I genuinely did actually jump at one in the movie
When they was that snowland that one got me and my family lol
They were painfully loud in my theater. Pretty cool.
Just left the theater.. man what a film. Can’t recommend to everybody but every encounter they come across is scarily realistic. From the battles, all the way down to the In-human elements that a human will do to you. There was one scene where a guy was pinned down under fire and couldn’t move, and I couldn’t eat the rest of my popcorn after that scene.. brilliant movie 🙌🏾
This is probably the least realistic portrayal of a civil war in terms of battles and how they went down especially the dc sequence was the worst part
I loved it. Idk why I walked in there thinking it was going to be more satirical, good GOD was it dark lol. But very good. Wagner Moura and Kirsten Dunst, no one told them that this probably won’t win an Oscar because they swung for the fences. The young lady was excellent too, Jesse Plemons is always a pleasure.
Cris maybe Annihilation deserves a rewatch because that movie rules it's beautiful and incredible
Maybe it does! I remember leaving feel empty with it but I will see it again cause I do love the director
@3CFilms I didn't love it at first but then I read some discussions about it and rewatched it and I really loved it. It's gorgeous like all his movies but I didn't really appreciate the meaning behind it until after
I have rewatched about 4 or 5 times and I keep finding something new and disturbing it is soooo good. Very underated.
Only real 3c fans can like this comment

Nice T-Shirt man, good to see a Halloween 4 fan, That film is underated.
I’ve never thought I would watch this movie until I watched this review thank you Cris
Hope you enjoy it!
Wait… why would you not watch this movie?
@@cdsackett I saw the trailer it was not hitting for me but once I saw this review it changed my mind
That’s sad
Chris, I watched it today and I was looking through your page trying to see if you had posted a review before I decided to watch it. but ultimately decided to go ahead and watch it. And oh boy was that a huge win for me, a movie hasn’t left me pondering the orb like that move did in such a long time. I’m so glad I decided to give it shot. Glad to see you liked it too!
Dammm the RUclipsrs crazy this week so many videos shows movies my brain hearts
Fr, honestly just let the trailers for each of them come so it’ll feel like one by one without it feeling heavy.
Great Video Cris! 👍
Another superb wwll crafted balanced a+ review ❤ thanks Chris
The fact that this movie made me feel so much fear and tension for a characters deaths (especially in that scene with Jesse Clemons, his acting and all the others in that scene was brilliant) than I have in any marvel movie shows that grounded movies build higher stakes.
What a fantastic review Cris, I’m planning to see it tonight and your review has only increased my anticipation. Thank you for bringing up how the films events are perceived through the neutral lense of journalists, that’s given me a much clearer mindset for what to expect.
What were your thoughts on it?
This is a must see in IMAX. The sound was incredible!! It’s like they’re shooting and bombing in the movie theater
Alex Garland we need more great movies from you! As an aspiring actress I hope to work with you one day! ❤❤❤❤
Hello cris, I was just wondering but do you plan on making a spoiler review for Winnie the Pooh: blood and honey 2, I think I had heard you say you would make the video after the movie was in theaters or was done in theaters
This movie is on my list it’s nice Chris watched this and I’m hearing great things about this movie.
The way the gun shots and explosion sounded was really good in theaters
who else is watching the shrek 2 for its 20th anniversary? 🧅🫏
I wish i coulda 😭 one of my favorite movies
Saw it today with my son
This movie cinematography & sound design paired together made so many scenes so visceral and immersive
Yea, I loved it!!! The acting and action was great!!! Now, I want to see Ex Machina! I haven’t yet!
Definitely check it out!
Ex Machina is ten times better than this movie.
Chris, I have to ask, are you gonna give your input on Shogun?
I've saw up to episode 7 and I think it's an absolutely amazing mini series, there's 10 episodes and 8 are out now. Idk if it's on hulu+ but it's on disney plus over here in Ireland.
Also, this is hiroyuki sanada at his absolute best
"Did we go through a time machine!?"
First question.....where you get that halloween 4 shirt?👀
I watched this movie and I have the same mindset as you
I didn’t check reviews or anything before
But once I finished watching it, I saw reviews hating this movie and having the wrong mindset such as
This movie sucked, no way California and Texas team up that’s not realistic, what’s was the point of the war, etc etc
I saw what the movie was telling us: the perspective of the journalists. I think it’s pretty plain and simple what the movie is..
But pretty surprised how a lot of people are making this a political thing
3C THERE IS NO WAY THE TRAILER PLAYED AS AN ADD BEFORE I Watched THIS VID!!!!!!😂😂😂😂
Nice lol
Imagine still having ads
You can do and talk about whatever the Hell you want Chris!
Never back down! Take the handcuffs off! ❤
Saw it this afternoon. Thought it was great
watching this trailer in IMAX immediately makes me want to watch it on imax
I had zero interest in this film until your review Chris. Now, I’m going to stream it upon release 😂.
I appreciate your reviews. When I'm on the fence about seeing a movie I will turn to your review to see what your thoughts are. I was on the fence about this one and I'm definitely going to see it now.
Hope you enjoy it🫡
I agree the movie is not about the reason it’s about the consequences
I didn't understand the weird paint colors during the city fight scene and the sniper scene. Anyone know?
I think I'll go watch this now because of your review. 👍
it's a crazy film but def a must see in a theater with great sound.
I watched it two nights ago and I didn't even hear about this one coming. What a great surprise this one was! They did have an impromptu music choice at their first stop. I didn't see how that Boogie Down Productions song fit in there. Kinda weird music choice. But did recognize the song from the early 90s late 80s lol. Yes this was a great surprise.
“Say No Go” by De La Soul was the song and group that was in the movie. The way that song was used reminded me of how in Full Metal Jacket they used “Bird is the Word”
Great video
The way to watch this is Dolby Cinema. When I tell you I don’t get scared by much horror these days, and a gunshot made me jump TWICE…yeah.
When are you going to watch Abigail and are you going to do a spoiler after it releases
Awesome video 3c films
Chris !!..I respect you and love your channel and video etc I really do but bro I cannot agree with you on this review the movie is garage, cinematography was great and few good set pieces but overall the movie felt it lacked something it wasn’t quite there, for me at least.i was disappointed to be Frank and wish there was a little more character building and action pieces in it I give it 5/10
Chris, yesterday I went to the theaters and they played a brief teaser of a new Friday the 13th film by IFC films before my movie began. Do you know about this?
Wow chris, thank for addressing that Captain America and Iron man are in this movie and also George Washington. Couldn't thank you enough.
I really enjoyed this movie ! The movie was so intense
This would be terrifying in real life…
I am sorry but the most unrealistic part of this movie was the fact that Texas and California had an alliance
Can't wait to see this man
I did like the scene where the sniper says, "I have good news".
I hope they release more lore because im very interested.
The Hong Kong scene was gripping, spectacular film
Oh China? China.
Just got done watching it. Believe or not, this is the first Alex Garland movie I've seen. I thought it was pretty good.
Ayyyy Annihilation is amazing my dude.
Wait Sam Wilson just became Captain America and he already started one of these
Ever since Phase 4 there’s been a Civil War within the MCU fandom 😂
@@NinthShinigamiYup. It’s gone wild. 💀
LMAO
Great shirt man!
This would a great idea for a TV series
Saw it this week and it was an interesting film. Wish they had shown how the war started, etc.
I had people in my imax theater jump everytime there was a gun shot people were also oooing and saying no don’t and screaming
excellent review this movie was awesome
I came out of the movie like two hours ago tonight. It was really good and thought-provoking.
Can’t wait to see
Cris the top G
Chris, I'll be on your side in a civil war.
🫡
Civil War felt like what The Purge would actually turn out being in our world and that’s scary
Just saw it in theatres, very intense
It’s insane that just right after this movie came out, WW3 became trending again
I for one, knew that Jesse Plemmins scene was going to be really intense from the trailer.
Can’t wait to see this and Abigail
Nah no superhuman registration act I’m good
Hay @3CFilms I am just wondering when you are going to do the spoiler review on Winnie the pool blood and honey 2 ? (And if you don’t want to do it I understand)
Awesome, thank you, thumbs up!
Great review man
I thoroughly enjoyed "Civil War." The acting, direction, story/ plot, cinematography, pacing. It serves as a warning for the U.S. Alex Garland 's direction is impeccable. A24 always put out unique and creative movies and isn't afraid to take risks. As an aspiring actress I hope to work with them multiple times in the near future. This was another good review. ❤❤❤❤
0:58 would have been a coincidence if Robert Downey Jr. showed up in this.
There’s a free showing of it in my theater tomorrow for “gold members” (which I am) should I go?
absolutely
Saw it yesterday evening, and I felt very impressed by this movie. The relationship between Kristen Dunst Lee and new photo journalist, Jessie is the strongest part of the movie I thought. Both of them are very good performances I think. Dunsts character of Lee has seen lots of horrible things and is totally numb to the horrors she experiences, Jessie wants to be just like her and follow in her footsteps, even though Lee is kind of not to welcoming to Jessie as they both go on a road trip together to Washington DC, though a sort of friendship starts to slowly build and Lee and Jessie learn from each other. This movie is incredibly tense, throughout their road trip to Washington DC, the different encounters along the way get more and more tense, as they get closer to where they are trying to get. Wagner Mouras character is very interesting character, he seems like he's known Lee for awhile and he seems very protective of Jessie, making sure she ducks when they encounter soldiers firing. The part about things being vague, or not really defined, as far as what the rebels are fighting for, for me personally it didn't really bother me. think the movie is way more focused on the Lee and Jessie dynamic, story thread and showing the entire movie through their eyes, .Jesse Plemons scene is totally unsettling, disturbing and cranks up the intensity to a whole another level.
The movie felt to short and felt like it needed more time to film. The Hawaiian shirt scene was weird and felt like a cut was done there. We see them pinned down and these men are clearly UNTRAINED. But than we see them clear out the whole building literally a second later? We dont know the logic behind the president getting this power. Idk why people say its a warning to Americans this cant happen simply due to houses having to approve everything the president did? Maybe he cut the scenes out of the president paying off people or what but it felt lackluster. we're told its California and Texas vs DC but than we arent told how it progressed to a war especially one that far out is even possible. People saying "You want him to spoonfeed you" no but maybe take out a few pointless scenes and just add a clip of the president saying things on TV or something on that line. People saying thisis "Thought provoking" and deep no it felt more like a rich person telling a poor person what its like. The situation isnt even remotely possible. The President was Trump but he wasnt as witty as Trump would be so his character feel flat.
I hated and loved it. It was basically saying to the American people, Is this what you really want. Im a former infantryman and felt that the combat scenes were mostly tactically sound.
I’ve been watching since day uno mi hermano. I always appreciate your review as well as Jeremy.
Jeremy is great! Thanks for watching
I viewed the big states team up as a mutual dislike of the president and each other but hashing out things after the finish business. Even sam commented that the states could turn on each other.
I was so sure this was going to be political commentary and didn’t want to see it but this review has me rethinking king that. Thanks!!
A movie that has a war between two countries? Gee I wonder why that feels so familiar.
Honestly kinda relieved this film isn’t heavily political.
Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy thought provoking and compelling films, but it feels like many films these days always have something to say about something going on in current events.
I think films like Godzilla Minus One were the perfect kind of political. Touching on things that most people can universally relate to.
(Disclaimer: haven't seen it yet) I have a feeling that having watched 20 Days in Mariupol (a documentary about video journalists documenting the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine) will allow me to understand the main characters a lot more.
MJ really went from dating a Photographer, to being one
8/10 for me, saw it last night. Only issue I had was that abrupt ending.
I loved this movie so much. My favorite of his films. The entire DC part was so intense
I saw it last night, loved it. Made me scared by how real it could feel tho.
“3 bags of Tostitos scoops…
How can that be profitable for frito lay…” had me dead oh my goodness
Game Night
Movie actually made me feel like i was there especially during the Jessie plemons
