I actually think the theater experience was amazing because it made me feel like I was in the audience watching it all live. If you want to feel like you're in the audience watch it in theaters. If you want to experience as someone who was watching the show at home then watch it at home.
great point
Idk if it was just my screening but there were some weird ass sounds that didn’t feel like part of the movie but not sure where it was coming from….it added another creepy level. Not sure if you’ll get that at home
I had 2 nigga in the middle smoking pot and 2 other niggas on the left smoking pot and then on the right where These Girls just yelling still a banger Movie .
Thanks for that profound wisdom
Straight up! When the girl started killing everyone, i started sweating and questioning reality 😂😂
Literally just left the theater. The ending had me and my girlfriend’s jaw on the FLOOR. LOVED IT
Chill the ending was predictable bud don’t b dramatic
@@killajok3337no it wasn’t lil bro stop trying to be different
Ikr dude i watched it with my sis and damn that kid was in awe
I kinda feel like the end was predictable in the sense that it tied directly into something that was openly discussed at the beginning, and the ending was also slightly telegraphed in a comment made during the opening segment as well. But to say you could predict exactly how the ending unfolded is probably a stretch
I wanna see it still. Im not gonna cancel them for a picture
Boycotting a indie for something like this is ridiculous
Nah.
valid take
I’m a graphic designer who has some things under my belt but even still boycotting an entire movie for something like that is disheartening to hear because of a few bad peoples decisions.
@xymi3083 so stupid. Stay in your basement.
@@Oldmangamessyeah I’m all for supporting artists and there was no doubt an art dept in production but when a film this moderately budget where you’ve stretched every dollar, I can appreciate the need to cover a resource or asset that you might’ve otherwise overlooked. Trying to throw the baby out with the bathwater approach is bit extreme to me
I been a graphic designer my entire life. I have absolutely zero fears of AI taking away my career because the clients will have to explain to the AI exactly what they want. Meaning, it’ll never happen.
I loved this movie such a different take on the exorcism styled horror movies. My favorite scene in the movie was the hypnosis scene. The ending was great too like it blew me away.
Is everyone forgetting it’s technically ‘lost media’ footage and this is considered an indie film…so super tight budget? It’s disheartening that a genre people always talk about wanting spotlight and support for are the same people knit-picking and tearing this film apart. It was done well and was truly a breath of fresh air. LNWTD is truly an original and was a blast to watch. I hate that 90-95% of this film was spectacular but people are bashing it for that 5% it fell short? Wild.
Because people want to hate everything
It's funded by the Australian government. It's not indie.
And I'm making an independent feature film with 1/6th the budget. That doesn't give me a free pass to plagiarize other artists.
Because usibg AI to make film deserves to be criticized.
@@brbaic9364
AI wasnt used to make the movie. AI was used for the movie posters inside the movie.
@markling5058 that's because they're miserable and deep down hate themselves.
I hate ai in film, but a few images isn’t a complete deal-breaker. Annoying? Yes, but I’m still *probably* going to see it.
I do however hope they edit it out for the physical release of the film, because it was clearly a last minute thing
That’s my opinion too, I’m an artist and I am strongly against ai like this that’s just taking away a creative job from someone, but I still want to see the movie
In a year you'll be saying "a few AI characters isn't a complete dealbreaker"
Where's the line when it's unacceptable to cross? If this is okay, isn't everything?
@@Courier_333 it something like that comes out (which unfortunately I think there will be cases of that in the future) then I will gladly boycott that shit haha
@@Courier_333I don't care! You people crack me up.
@Courier_333 if the product is good whooo cares?
Artists copy eachother constantly.
Cris has been SO DAMN BUSY these last few days when it comes to his reviews videos… this is why we all love him though… no matter how much, he’s always motivated to give us these fantastic quality reviews 🔥 💪 ❤️
Since this wasn't a purely "found footage" movie, I like the different aspect rations and cleaner moments shown during the commercials. This film is spooky and fun, and I can easily imagine it being played each year around Halloween. Also, the two little AI pics (that were later refined by actual people, btw) are no reason to ignore this movie. Doing so would negate the MONTHS that hardworking craftsmen put into getting this low-budget film off the ground. As you mentioned, it seems like everyone is looking for drama...even when it doesn't really exist.
You have to be at a low level of incompetent if you are gonna boycott a movie because of one or two AI art pieces that show up in the movie.
My whole thing is with the current climate of AI from a marketing standpoint it was a stupid decision. How are you going to insult people who refuse to not spend THEIR money cuz they don’t support this like it won’t be on digital in like 3 months. How about insulting whoever greenlit that image for it looking so AI that so many people immediately caught on or insult them for not just biting the bullet like most studios and have some make the 3 measly cards that aren’t hard to make for a professional
I'm watching this on MONDAY!! the trailer looked sooo darn GOOD
Same here watching this and AMC SreamUnseen on Monday going to be a good night!
It IS GOOD go see it for yourself in theaters.
so much better than i even expected from the trailer!
Had no idea what to expect when I went to see it, but it was beyond anything I imagined. You will definitely enjoy it!
It was terrible. Just terrible.
Cris: “Thank you for clicking”
In my mind: “You’re welcome 🙂”
On SpiderVerse, as an animator, the automated things like tiny movements I'd just chalk up to "tweening". Making an element move beTWEEN two set points, and automate that. We see it in almost every cartoon there is now. I think it's not an egregious use of AI, especially not a job-taking creative waste of visuals.
For movement Yes makes sense but for only three images, that's just pure laziness. You could have pay real artist and don't tell me, it's that expensive for sure, It's only Three images
I assume you can’t fully speak for anyone else but is it true that a lot of you guys felt overworked on the production for across the spiderverse or was that kind of blown out of proportion?
@@sef0917 Ah, I didn’t work on that movie myself, sadly. Sorry my wording made it sound like I did. I meant, “speaking towards Spiderverse, as an animator-“ My bad!
But with that said, I know a few folks who did work on that movie. I haven’t personally heard any complaints from them on the crunch, just how stoked they were to be on the project.
I think training your own ai (spiderverse) is very different from using an ai trained by thousands and maybe millions of artists without their consent, just to make a fucked up piece of art that could have been 100% better if created by a human. the comparison seems a bit thin, if comparable at all
@@The-Doctor6969 I fully agree
I did not realize using AI to generate THREE photos in the film was TAKING OVER the movie. People need to chill.
You’ve been banging out a lot of reviews 3C, Thanks
whoa now what you mean by that?

@austincaldwell4258-3C has been dropping reviews and news updates all week
You're been on fire with your reviews this last few days!!!!
JUST came from the movies watching this. Incredible!! Excited to see your review on this!
We appreciate you and your reviews! Keep up the great work Chris! ✨
AI was used to generate three interstitial images that were on screen for less than 5 seconds. And, as I understand it, those images were then worked on by artists after the fact.
The film's budget was under $2 million. It's a legitimate independant film. Using AI to generate less than 5 seconds of content seems reasonable.
This is a big stink over nothing.
This exact mindset is what will make it easier for AI to take an artist job. This isn’t the first indie film that had to figure it out without AI. It’s just lazy and cutting corners when an actual human could easily do this and both would be profiting
Just came home after watching the movie. Finally a genuine unsettling horror movie… especially when Lily kept looking at the camera. I felt like she was staring down into my soul and she knew absolutely everything lmao. I wanted more but seeing the time and production, it’s a good moobie
that’s the devil for u
I just walked out of the theater 10 minutes ago. Perfect timing 👌
This movie was so creepy and authentic. That child actress was amazing
So sick of people whining about ai art.
Its clearly not going anywhere. Just pointless to get so butthurt about it.
Great review. I wonder if you could tell me where you picked up those display cases behind you I'd love to get one for myself. Thx
Ikea
The only movie reviews that I take seriously yet keep me entertained, you've been killing it lately 😌👏😌
Regardless of the drama behind this, I'm still going to check it out just because I like the Halloween vibes from it and the 70s Aesthetic
You say “The AI situation” like a main actor was arrested during production for something heinous… as an artist, three images generated in a specific art style for an indie movie isn’t a big deal. Like, at all.
Movie was great, thoroughly enjoyed it beginning to end.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it felt like a longer short story from one of the VHS films. Same kind of analog feel, found footage-esque, and how quickly it escalates towards the end. I think that's why it's not a movie I'm absolutely raving about either
This is exactly how I felt walking out of the film. The third act / climax of the film felt straight out of a VHS short. Definitely not the direction I was hoping the movie would go in. Once I saw the girl go all electricity Storm, I was like this ain’t it. First 2/3 give it a 8.5/9. The last 1/3 I’d give it a 7.
If you’ve got a budget, don’t use Ai art as final artwork. Sure, generate it as reference and get a junior graphic designer to make the finished pieces.
Or... just use AI art. People complain that it sources art from people that didn't give their consent in order to train itself. But guess what? That's exactly what humans do lol. We're just capable of also getting inspired beyond just other artist's work. But many artists copy what someone else did and throw their own twist on it. We call it inspiration. Yet somehow when AI does it, we call it theft. It's nonsense.
Don’t understand what’s it with the AI . 🤣
Don't care, people that complain are pathetic.Go be offended over something else.
@@RealEllenDeGeneresbecause ai isn't a human and there's a human using it for profit. artists constantly have debates about referencing, tracing, etc, but it's general practice to credit the people you're inspired by. AI can not do what, will not do that, and all of the nuance between artists and art styles is lost in a giant amalgamation. it's really disheartening that people don't even think artist's deserve to give their consent to such an act
@@RealEllenDeGeneresai is fine if it had been taught ethically, but it hasn't. What's so bad about asking for artists art and compensating them for that you train the AI with?
I just got back from watching this movie, and I have to say it’s everything I want in a movie, a short runtime at just above 90 minutes, a plot that leads up to a fantastical 3rd act WTF fest, for what this movie is I think it’s a huge achievement, and these are the type of unique movies we need
Awesome video 3c films 😊
Chris is such a Giga-Chad in the last few thumbnails.
"baby don't hurt me.. don't hurt me"
My take: if they were able to get costume design set design practical effects why not just go all out having actual art that matches the aesthetic. Imagine tshirt sells using non ai art
They had a budget. They spent it on items that actual impact the plot and the story being told. The images had nothing to do with it
@brite1217 such a lazy excuse. The movie is funded by the Australian governent.
If they didn't have enough money to fund 3 drawings, that doesn't make plagiarism suddenly okay for them
@@Courier_333 What plagiarism? Is there a particular poster that it copied?
@@Courier_333 again, look up what plagiarism means, and how the laws actually apply. Instead of going around and just spreading bullshit lies.
@@brite1217 the issue is if small indie movie used AI assuming people wouldn’t notice ( most won’t because internet doesn’t speak for all) bigger companies will see that and try use AI on bigger scale. Which has started because open ai now in talk with Hollywood executives. Just makes the strikes seem pointless :/
You are so impressive! How are you doing two videos a day 😩 I mean I love it but I need your skill
Perfectly summarized my feelings for this film. Went in wanting to love it, and left feeling underwhelmed. I couldn't really articulate what I didn't enjoy, but I 100% agree it's probably best enjoyed at home decorating for fall or passing out candy on Halloween. Great video!
2:08 imagine if the director's started fooling around with A.I. and once they found a prompt they liked, they could get an actual artist to redraw it, there's your easy solution
literally dont care at all about the ai, 10/10 fillm
It’s a really promising film, Dastmalchian is excellent. But it’s not consistent with the premise, and I totally agree about the behind-the-scenes footage. It’s a huge flaw in execution, and I’m surprised more people are either not mentioning or noticing that.
I'm with ya' here. I was amused and entertained but it didn't quite live up to the hype and stellar reviews I've seen. Definitely worth a look though.
First people were hating on AI and now they are defending it? Society sure is weird
Everything you said about this movie is EXACTLY how I felt walking out after it was done. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I watched this on my tv at home instead of going to see it on the big screen.
It was literally 2 pictures shown for no longer than 3 seconds total. Yall need to chill
Ok Video and Review Cris! 👍
Love how you spent the first 4 min talking about the controversy around this movie, really love your review, keep up the amazing content cris!
How is spiderversue any different?
They both used i.a to make the process easier.
Guess what, the studio has the final say on who and what goes into the movie, and everyone involved in the making of this movie knocked it out of the park! David Dastmalchian deserves ALL the accolades for his performance.
ya this review is really whiny. is this video about ai or the movie?
Love your videos Cris 🤩
You know, I am really surprised about all this silliness over the AI. I totally get where you are coming from on this, because you're reasonable and have a right to your opinion (especially since you intelligently justify your opinion with facts and backup info). I am going to do a free trial of Shudder in April when it is to be released along with A Violent Nature so I can watch both for free. hehehe I may keep Shudder after it. I will see. I cannot wait to see this, whether it ends up not to be what I want and whether I love it, and I can't wait to see Jason, er I mean AVN. LOL
Gotta be honest, I didn’t even know about the ai stuff til after I saw it and it learning about it definitely doesn’t change how much I enjoyed it personally since it’s only used to make 3 images that are on screen for a collective maybe like 10-15 seconds max. Do I think it would’ve been a little better to have a person do it? Yea sure but does it being ai art take away how much I liked it? Not really🤷🏼♂️
Completely disagree, it never felt like it was dragging or took me out. If we didn’t get the behind the scenes footage there would’ve been a lot lost in the story telling and motivation of the characters. And watching it in the theaters it perfect because you feel as if you’re an audience member experiencing the show.
Damn I didn't know it was out tonight! I'm cancelling my plans tonight and then I'm coming back for the rest of the video now.
Bro today he reviewed a film about a nun and now a film about possession funny
I really enjoyed this movie. The style and aesthetic was so unique but the third act wasn't as good as I was expecting.
I am not a fan of the AI stuff at all and didn't hear about it before I saw. No reason to use AI those are the simplest designs. Pay someone a few bucks to make them. The first few examples of AI you gave I'm ok with but anything beyond that shouldn't even be allowed to be profited off of
Omg perfect timing I just finished the movie(I’m currently sitting thru the end credits watching this video)
I do r understand why Cris didn’t like it. This is such a Cris film. Original idea and story, genuinely scary, decently gory. I can only guess that he had a bad day or mood before seeing the movie. I’d give it a like 95%
I loved the creativity. I also loved David Dastmalcian as the lead.
When i saw just the trailer alone i knew it would be something unique and i cant wait to see it. Heres to hoping thisll become a Halloween staple for many!
Saw this last year at The Overlook Film Festival. It won fan favorite. We really loved it!
I haven't seen it yet but it sounds like it packed a punch for the fact that it seems to be at 90 minutes and they just got to the point quickly.
I enjoyed your review and agree they needed a little more back story. But to each their own. For me, this movie was amazing. Best movie I have seen in a long while.
Any stream tonight?
This gets 6.5/10 for me.
What was the "tall trees" reference to regarding Delroy?
Im glad you recognize the ai problem. Yes, jobs will be affected.
Love how u handle it!!! Dodged a bullet 😂😂😂
First thing that put me off seeing this movie were the words "70s late-night talk show". It makes me think of the Merv Griffim show--watch that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer turns his apartment into Griffin's set for an idea of what i mean--and i HATE the aesthetic of shows like that.
Your review is the first I've seen so far that mentions AI "art".
I heard Late Night With The Devil is way better & scarier than Immaculate!
I’ll be honest I liked immaculate more. However I will say late night with the devil feels more unique and that’s cool
So it’s okay for Sony to animate actual character movement with AI.
BUT
This movie does it with THREE BRIEF IMAGES & suddenly there’s protest.
Cmon man wtf
I had a lot of fun with it. I love movies set in the 70s and horror so it was a great match for me.
I’ve heard about this movie and this movie is on my list to see & I definitely will when I can! However I’m shocked to see that many people aren’t really talking about it. But I do agree that AI really isn’t the way to go about it but it can be useful, I just hope in the future directors don’t rely on it too much as I prefer the more human made content if that makes sense. 😅
hey chris we still getting a firday stream tonight?
Yeah it would build up these suspensful scenes then go to commercial break in the movie. It felt like actual commercial breaks but for exposition instead of ads.
chris on the review roll this week, i love it
what’s up 3c films you see the new chucky s3 pt2 trailer??
I really enjoyed this film. I was glad I caught it in theaters, it felt very immersive. Definitely wasn't very scary but was a lot of fun.
Haven't seen yet, but im super excited😂
You going live today?
Dude the the moment the aspecr ratio changed felt so weird in a good way, it felt like i was watching a REAL movie all of a sudden, even if that makes no sense. the lighting felt more theatrical or cinematic
The scene where Lilly first walks onto the stage is very creepy and unnerving. Her smile and her long flapping arms give me nightmares. Its like the demon doesnt know how to react in a human body
My personal thought on the AI thing is that it's annoying, I wish they had actually gone and just hired someone to make it, as I'd bet you there was so many people they could find online who could have made good ones with how that style is popular. But it's after the fact, and to throw away the movie as a whole for 3 images isn't fair to the actors, the set directors, musicians, and literally everyone else that helped make the movie.
As for the movie itself, I really loved this film. So scary, but still really fun.
im going to see it why my cousins tomorrow im so fuckin stoked i have kept away from any reviews too lol just dropping in to say this
i feel that 3c addressed the controversy perfectly and if anyone is mad then just calm down i don’t support ai but it isn’t a reason to attack someone
Honestly the a.i images makes sense cause something about them felt off. I think it adds to the experience if you let it.
3C tryna make rent 😭🙏
3 reviews in 2 days
I think what's important is that if AI helped make the movie great. Then what the hell. I feel like now a days people just look for anything, any little thing to hate on a good movie. Take last year's Evil Dead Rise. It started with a whopping 96% on Rotten Tomatoes then as weeks passed by people tore it to shreds. Being nit picky. Ultimately ending with 80%. In my opinion practical effects are the most effective in horror films, but if you do AI and can make it work. Then I don't think there's any harm. All in all the AI in this film is very minimal. I still think it was a great movie and a step wayyyyy up compared to all the crap we've gotten this year so far. I mean Imaginary? What was that? GARBAGE IF YOU ASK ME... Thanks for your review Chris. Love your channel!!! ❤❤❤
A bizarre movie that doesn't quite live up to its hype. The AI isn't worth mentioning imho. Dastmalchian was great. In fact, all the cast were superb, though the story needed more fleshing out, as did the actual script. It wasn't scary in the slightest, but the anticipation was building well, and then it ended with nowhere near enough demonic power. 2.5/5. Great idea but no oomph to it.
I’m just going to throw this out there: creativity in the void is an absolutely insane concept and expectation to put on anyone or anything.
I personally don’t know why people raved about it so hard…great concept, phenomenal acting, poor execution. I feel like it was messy like they had so many ideas but didn’t give time to fully flesh any of them out, and the pacing was weird…kind of boring in some spots I dunno. I looove indie horror and horror in general but this wasn’t it for me 🤷🏻♀️
Saw this movie Thursday night and loved it ngl but my TikTok algorithm is freaking out right now
When he says the blue eyes in dune were done by AI, how is that any different than the software they used to make realistic hair or automatic shadows in CGI?
Those AI’s are enhancers for programming stuff- there’s a video on how they made the water in Moana. They use ai enhancers for the mechanics of it. Ai “art” on the other hand, takes art from other artists and Frankenstiens them together without credit to the original artists.
- I do love the movie though, I would NOT boycott it for the use of ai art. But like- it would take an artist a day, maybe less, to draw the cards they used for the movies. It’s just laziness in not wanting a real artist to do it, and instead using a machine that- doesn’t enhance, but makes needless frankenstiened creations
Loved this movie, saw it in a packed theater in a smaller theater near LA. We were all laughing so hard by the last 2-3 production company logos in the beginning
I LOVED the movie idk what everyone’s deal with it that have anything negative to say. As for the Ai images it’s for the transition parts it’s on the screen briefly so idk what the fuss is about on that part.
If anything I felt the movie should have been LONGER.
Imaginary was DRAWN out, that excess time from Imaginary should have went to this movie because there could be more added to it.
I loved the original story, the theme the cast and ofc David’s performance!
I’m GLAD I saw it in theater.
The fact that mostly the reviews for this movie has a section talking about ai is wild I didn’t hear anything about ai being in this film
Spot on. I was hyped for this but it was just ok. They messed up with black and white scenes.
Agree with you 100%. I liked it, but the ending was kinda - hmmm. I guess the overall point was to make you feel like part of the audience, and made you wonder how much actually happened versus how much was an illusion. Yes! I wish they had gone more into the backstory, and did I assume correctly that the wife was his sacrifice to get “in” to the Bohemian Grove club?
Just came from the theater and we loved it! Truly the best horror film I have seen in a long, long time! This is going to be a Halloween themed classic, shown every year. I'm a lifelong horror fan and this is one of the best I've seen.
I live in Berwyn IL so that mention in the beginning was a bit of a shock
when do we get it on stream
Mid April on Shudder, I believe.
We’ve been using CGI for a long time now in award winning movies like Avatar, King Kong, and all the Marvel movies. I like horror more, but if using CGI makes it better, I’m ready for it in horror.
Where can I watch it at home
Man I gotta wait one month till it releases on shudder since I live in Puerto Rico and not in the USA 😭😭😭😭😭
