My take on both strangers is that the first one is 70s equivalent of all horror mostly slashers while the 2nd is more fun teen slasher from 80s. Both are fun and one is scary and the other is fun.
I love the setting in prey at night

That Tobey Maguire bit where the girl screams at him and slowly the burlap sack appears on his head with the Spiderman music hits in the background had me in stitches 😂
I enjoyed the second movie way better then the first. The brutal kills and the atmosphere were great, it really felt like an 80’s slasher movie.
Yeah I liked the second movie quite a bit, the first one felt like it was trying way too hard to be creepy and shocking

Also one thing to note here I find the scene funny the part where dollface says *"Because you were home."* The one in the middle (which I guess we're calling him as Scarecrow now because of the new movie) just turns to look at dollface like *"So that's what we're going with?"* and then turns to look like *"Okay I guess that's what were going with then."*

Yes!! i wondered why he didnt have his setup in the back and found this out in the streams. The Quality while in a relatives house, i couldn’t even tell!
My favorite is The Strangers Prey at Night, because it was the first one I watched and I like that it’s a bit more fun. Also, Prey at Night has some really good songs.
Same, it was more fun and interesting. The songs were so good made the scenes even better.
In Mike (Glenns character) defense, I wouldnt turn the record off because if they all didnt already know you were in the room, you'd immediately give away your position to everyone in the house.

The first Strangers movie from 2008 is far far better.
The sequel was okay but it didn’t feel the same so it was a letdown to me.
I’m a fan of 70’s Grindhouse Horror, that’s why I prefer the first movie because it feels very 70’s inspired.
I remember hearing this was based loosely on a murder that happened in a really small town. I’m not sure were the information is but I just vividly remember hearing that
coincidently i also just finished watchin the 2 the strangers movies .
The first starngers movie felt more grounded and made a great job building up the charaters , and one thing that the first one did perfectly was the suspense , from the moment that the strangers first knock on the door you can feel a build up of suspense on each hit, each knock , each camera change , and that build up lasted around 5 to 10 minuts untill they really started to attack the couple, also the lack of music on the first one really helped on the grounded realism of the movie.
Moving to the second , seeing it right after the first one, it defenitly felt more generic , repeating mostly the same things from the first one, not being that impactfull , i didnt really cared much about the family on the second one, the movie didnt had the build up or suspene the first one had , meanwhile the music choices on the second one was good , it made the movie feel like a generic family slasher.
The Strangers: (2.5/5) (Atmospheric, suspenseful, great sound design but slow beginning and frustrating characters choices)
The Strangers: Prey at Night: (4/5) (Not as suspenseful or terrifying as the original but the pacing is so much faster, entertaining throughout, characters are a bit smarter and likable, and love the 80’s vibes)
A 2.5? It's not slow it's build up and they literally start doing stuff like 15 mins in

I really like both of these movies. To me the first one felt like a 70s scary horror movie, while the second one felt like an 80s fun horror movie.
Both are completely different, but good in their own ways.

The first Strangers is definitely one of the most disturbing films I ever seen definitely a terrifying experience but quite a slow kinda boring experience at the same time I just hope the new one is actually entertaining as prey at night
What I like about prey at night is it was dumb fun to the point where it was entertaining basically Halloween kills dumb fun entertaining but prey at night had many flaws despite being entertaining

It would’ve been cool in the first movie if the best friend turned around, saw papa stranger, and papa pushed him in the direction of the shotgun blast. That would’ve made it more diabolical on both ends!

12:28 I’ve always been curious hey the male stranger turns to look at Doll Face when she answered the question. To me, he did it because they don’t normally do that. They only speak to that Tamara stuff.
I think I read an old script for the movie and if I remember correctly dollface nervously responds to kristen’s question and sackhead turns to her because of how cold or bleak (can’t remember which) dollface’s response was.
edit: the script also implied it was dollface’s first time hence the “it’ll be easier next time” line we hear in the movie.
I also watched your Friday 13th announcement video.. and i wasn’t going to watch that TV Show.. but now that I know you’re reviewing it, I will watch it when it comes out!

Don't forget the silence at the beginning and how it builds up with noises. That's the first thing that always got me about this movie

@@notBrocker that's not what the director said. He said it was a prequel to the first film. The marketing even tells you Chapter 1 is the story about how the strangers became the Strangers.

The Strangers 2 is like The Orphan 2, it takes itself less seriously and goes straight to the absurd and I loved it

Remember how back in the days of land line phones when the bad guy would cut the cord to disable the phone? Then the protagonist would pick up their phone to dial but it'd be silent with no dial tone to be heard? Duh duh DUH!!! 😳
The Strangers (2008) the whole middle, the bulk of the movie is boring after Mike gets himself shot, but the opening and the ending are 2 of the most eeriest scenes ever

The first Strangers was TERRIFYING. While the 2nd one wasn't as scary I still did like it.

I like to think Mike let all the red flags go because he believed everything that was going on to be a domestic dispute between the couple so initially he wanted to make sure they were okay before thinking to involve police.
Loved the og ones. The music selection. Saw the new one yesterday and loved it. A classic to me and the music was freaking on point omce again. I love the premise of the movie. It's just a horror movie thts not trying to do jump doofy scares or nothing special. Its just out to twll a raw tale of the darkside of the world, love it. I think the new strangers are alittle more violent.
Sack head just give off this violent aura tht just sucks the air out the room when he's on screen. The ending felt stronger to me because of certain things in the movie and wht the starngers do, drive it home. I think your gonna love it @3c Films
I love the pacing of the first movie makes it so much more believable especially when I watched this as a young lad with those opening credits absolutely chilling vibe.

The pool sequence in part 2 is one of the best sequences in a horror film of the past decade. Sound design, performances, cinematography, etc….

I love and adore the first movie, but the second is SO FUN.
And the soundtrack is legit so good, that I have the soundtrack to the movie saved on Spotify lmao
(also just realized the Brother in Prey at Night is the guy cast as Sentry in the MCU)
I prefer the first one, it's just creepy the whole way thru, although I did like the second movie to.
We already have a score for the strangers on rotten tomatoes. I think I will stick to the original.

I hated\loved the orginal- I've only seen it twice because the atmosphere was perfect and it made me feel so uncomfortable-- I will not watch any of the other stranger films cause the orginal in eyes is a perfect one-and-done movie

Dude that first one shook me to the core .... I don't think I was deep in my horror fanatic realm when I watched it but it was definitely my peak and I loved it! I thought the suspense was good, the acting, I just really enjoyed and that line "because you were home" TERRIFIED me because it gave a sort of oh my god this could happen to me factor. So yes this movie is definitely one of my favs
I also really like the second one Prey at Night I could argue that there shouldn't be a second one but hey we got it so yeah it's fine with me not the first movie for sure but it could definitely go in my like top 25 maybe 50 yeah !!! It's good just not great and it's nothing I really have to see again!

Hell yes I want more stories they can easily get Bailey back and do prey at night 2 to end the storyline completely and keep doing prequels all the way to there first kills as small kids
One thing my mom pointed out to me about the first strangers, is how the girl changed into casual clothes out of her dress, and in the morning she woke up In her Dress meaning they dressed her up before killing her
As someone with siblings, the way they joke and fight is honestly pretty healthy lol some brothers put each other thru walls for fun and others do it out of hatred 🤣
I like both The Strangers and The Strangers Prey At Night. Both movies are very creepy and unsettling, especially The Strangers. I'm still creeped out and haunted by The Strangers. The Strangers Prey At Night is different from the first film, but I was and still am ok with that. I love all of the actors and actresses in both movies,they all did such an epic job. I'm going to watch The Strangers and The Strangers Prey At Night back to back because I haven't seen them in a long time,plus my friend's and I are going to see The Strangers Chapter 1 in theaters on Friday May 17th 2024. I'm a huge fan of this franchise, and I was hoping that they would have done a sequel to The Strangers Prey At Night but I'm so glad that we have The Strangers reboot trilogy out now,starting with The Strangers Chapter 1. I can't wait to see The Strangers Chapter 1. It's going to be good and Epic!

The Strangers (1st one) was based on the director's experience, but also the Keddie murders in California in the 80s.
BTW, I love the 1st one. Saw 4 times in theaters lol. I remember seeing the trailer and I knew my ex and I would be seeing it, and boy did we.
The pacing is great, and they're so menacing and clearly don't care if they live or die. Plus it has Glen Howerton taking a shotgun to the face making a new painting in the hallway.
And that Merle Haggard song? Iconic just from this film.
Man in the mask has one of the most iconic masks in horror now. You can order one, which I will.

I enjoyed both movies but I really liked the crazy supernatural slasher vibe in prey at night. Looking forward to seeing what Renny Harlin brings to the franchise.
Honestly, we need more horror movies where the slasher(s) get hunted down by the victims, it would be more cathartic.
Honestly I’m gonna wait till Chapter One hits streaming, seeing the reviews and it’s exactly what I wasn’t hoping for. At least Garfield is pretty good from what I’ve heard. The Strangers is one of those movies that should have stayed a one film franchise. The idea of making the new films a trilogy just doesn’t give me confidence

I loved the first movie definitely gives you the chills but the 2nd movie probably shouldn't have happened, but the 2nd movie does have a good scene that I find funny and it's when he's on fire in the car driving with bonnie Tyler singing 😂
