I had to stop all the trendy keto diet I was doing. Yikes! Who knew it works using stress chemicals and cortisol. Didn't realize it was breaking down muscle so much! Now I am sure to clean some clean sugar sources (fruit, honey, no corn syrup, no bakery with gluten) when I'm really stressed and this really helps me maintain muscle.

This has been me for a number of years and I am peri Meno. I call the recovery period my run hangover. I use to do couch to 5k run on a Sunday and then Zumba on a Monday no problem, last few years not a chance :( my whole body let's me know it has not recovered, sooo frustrating! I did complete the couch to 5k, but had to leave often half a week between training sessions!

I'll be 50 in Aug and have just gone 12 months with no menstrual cycle, even though i am having horrible hot flashes and feel bloated a lot. A few years ago, I started eating more plant-based (well, no red meat at all but have had a tiny amount of fish); like non-dairy items too and try to use Just Eggs and not eggs. After watching the video, you say dairy can make you bloated. Love yogurt but got away from non-dairy b/c of all the added sugars (don't they make you gain weight?) and i started eating 0 sugar yogurts, but those have dairy and i wonder if they are contributing to me feeling bloated a lot? which is worse - non-dairy and added sugar or 0 sugar but it being made with cow's milk?? HELP!!! Do not smoke, drink, etc. Hot flashes, feeling bloated, and some lower ab pain on and off. Not so much brain fog as much - love eating plant based but i'm also not the healthiest either (still buy fake meats and processed a lot)......in good time!

Best to speak with a dietician - we've not qualified to provide nutritional advice.

Do you believe that collagen powder everyday will help me repair my tendons, ligaments & muscles? I am having a hard time healing a hip flexor & gluteal tendon. I’ve had PT & I do my exercises & cut my Rollerblading to 2 times a week. Just started collagen, what do you think of collagen?

The current research is a bit sparse still and shows only modest improvements when people take collagen supplements. You can read more about it here: www.treatmyachilles.com/post/supplements-that-can-help-achilles-tendinopathy

Bernd Friedlander who trained Olympic athletes talks a lot about this. He was using Knox gelatin on the athletes and the answer is a definite YES! The deal though is it takes A LOT. Each day you must get in a minimum of 60 grams quality collagen or gelatin, preferably up to 100 grams (with vita C). See his Silicon Valley interview...
