Vegas Day Trip: Discovering the Joys of Boulder City, Nevada

- Spring is the time of year that just begs for a road trip! This week on LVIO we are off for an adventure that's less than 30 miles from Las Vegas...but worlds away. It's the lovely town the dam built, Boulder City. Join us for a getaway day trip to all that Boulder City has to offer - a huge historic district, great restaurants, great antique shops, great history. Highlights include The Dillinger for lunch, and the beautifully restored Boulder Dam Hotel for some unexpected music! We will also make a stop at Hemenway Park, looking for those bighorn sheep, and of course take a peek at the magnificent Hoover Dam.

Boulder City looks awesome - everyting is so neat and clean. We drove from Phoenix to Las Vegas (and back) in the early 1980s. It was a real highlight to drive over the top of the dam, as the highway does, and it was fun to stop briefly at the Hoover Dam to take in this massive engineering and construction project. Las Vegas beckoned us though, and I liked how you could see it way off in the distance.

Love your video and love Boulder City. We just went to Vegas in early March and we always rent a car mainly to make a visit to Hemenway Park. Sadly, just like in your video there were no bighorn sheep to be seen but went into town and did some antiquing at the same shops in your video.

I love driving through Boulder City, and have always wanted to spend the night in one of the cool motels in town. I've eaten at several different places in Boulder City. I need to come back some time and spend a little more time. Thanks for the video! The Dillinger looked great!

Omg!!! Simply loved this video… my 2 uncles worked on the Hoover Dam and hopped a train from Chicago to get there!! Visited the Hoover Dam about 5 years ago and on the way back to Vegas, saw the beautiful sheep!!! What a memorable day and thx for sharing this with us. ❤❤

Lovely as always! My experience with Boulder City was going there to clean up 🧼 at the parents’ home of one of my friends in our group after camping (1980’s) at Lake Mead! 🤣 You may have given us an idea to look there for retirement. Thank you again!

Great tour of Boulder City. We went there quite a few years ago for a day trip. Loved it. Ate at the Coffee Cup after seeing it on DDD. Must go back and explore further. Love the story of “Misty”. My eyes were misty when you were describing what had happened. Enjoy your time off 🇨🇦❤️

Hey we were there the day before on Sunday we like to go to goatfeathers antique shop and coffee cup! We live 11 miles from there in Henderson ! We go often!

Boulder City is also home to Bootleg Canyon. Bootleg CYN offers 35 miles of some of the best mountain biking trails in the world. People travel from all over to ride these trails.
