If anyone is interested in watching the Ghost Adventures episode when they investigated Binion’s it’s season 21 episode 5. I watched it again last night.
You’re both so well spoken. I’m guessing you both went to college. You’re my favorite vloggers because I can relate to you better than some others. I love my Pompsie and Greta, and Jacob, and Greta etc but your vlogs are my must see on Sundays. You have a very calming presence. Thanks so much 🥰
My wife and I got married in Vegas in 2018. Gone back every year since for our anniversary, well except for 2020. We stayed in the Golden Nugget but ate breakfast at the Binion's Cafe every morning! We stayed in the Binions Hotel last Summer for a night. It wasn't the most luxurious. But, it definitely had an old Vegas feel. Glad we did it!
Now you make me want to go try the Hotel Apache…just for a night! 👻 We are so glad you married here and choose to celebrate your anniversary here too ❤️
i think my friend and i will visit binions steakhouse!!! it looks fantastic and you are right paula the side is INCLUDED!!! that is unheard of now a days!!!! as always fantastic dale and paula!!!!! you two are BY FAR my favorite u tubers!!!! keep up the outstanding hard work and lovely videos!! they warm my heart!!!!
Paula and Dale, you are the most wonderful people and sites to watch in Vegas. I always learn something new and valuable and not just food, as some others have. You are intelligent, my kind of people. Thank you for sharing.
First time Penny and I went to Vegas Binion's was one of our favorite spots. She loved the history and ate practically every meal at Binion's Cafe, which was in the basement at that time. Good food. Good gamble indeed. I'll never forget the Million Dollar display. One hundred uncirculated $10,000 bills! I remember thinking that each one of those bills was probably worth one million dollars! We visited when the World Series of Poker was still held there. It covered 2 floors. Players bet with chips and $100 bills and there were stacks and stacks of each at every table. Jackpots downstairs were $20,000 plus and easily 5x that upstairs where the televised part was. What an experience!
Oh Bob, how I wish we had been there during the WSOP as you describe it! We went to the Rio when it was going on - Dale's cousin was an entrant and we walked through with him. But I know it was nothing like the excitement you describe!
Love the history and those Vintage Vegas pictures! Whiskey Licker Up and Down is really good. I've never done too well on the slots in Binion's. I love Binion's Cafe! I do like their burgers. Tina and I ate at the BBQ place. It was ok. I gotta stay at Hotel Apache. Big plans for The Plaza...nice! The Steakhouse looks awesome! Wow! What a view! Yum, I love NY Strip. Both steaks look great! Wow...Macallan 14, nice! Great History of Benny Binion.
I'm new to Las Vegas, going for the first time when I was 55, and I'm 57 now. That was so cool to hear about the old original carpet being placed down. I'm addicted to 'old' Las Vegas. So sad I missed all the old long gone hotels. I still find the Stardust stars the most gorgeous streetside marquee. I saw it in March at the old boneyard/Neon museum. Wish they sold reproductions in the gift shop that you could plug in. I will be joining the public who've been in the old demolished casinos, because, I'll be able to say I stayed in the historic MIRAGE, after it's gone. I go see Wayne Newton twice a week when I vacation in Vegas, which is every 8 weeks now, as I live in L.A. I'm so happy to still be able to see a classic Vegas entertainer that is still around. My Granny LOVED Vegas, and went a couple times each summer in the early 1980's. She always wanted to bring me, and I always refused. How stupid of me. I regret it terribly.
Hey Kelly - well don't waste time with regrets, just make up for lost time as best you can! Seeing Wayne is a good way to do it, and staying in hotels that are soon to change hands and become something else is another. Collect stuff - napkins, matchbooks, postcards, whatever - because they will mean something to you later! If you are here for more than a couple of days, go to the antique stores in Boulder City, because a couple of them have terrific Old Vegas memorabilia. In fact, even closer is the Gamblers General Store on Main Street - lots of memorabilia from the old days in there as well. 😊
Thanks for historic look back, as well as the restaurant review. I remember Binion's being known for allowing a bet of any size, because every once in a while, there would be story that would get national exposure of someone who bet some astronomical amount on one hand of blackjack, a roll of the dice, or a single spin of the roulette wheel. Keep the great content coming!
To anyone who may be visiting Vegas for the first time, Binge watch this channel! Too many people do not realize that Vegas has lots of history. Thanks for this one! Your friendly showgirl.
Love Binions. Years ago at the cafe they had the best bowl of beans and cornbread, so simple but so delicious! I have the picture of me and my hubby on my dresser in front of the million dollars. Great place full of nostalgia.
I stayed at Hotel Apache inside Binion's for the first time recently and it was amazing. Love the old school Victorian architecture and the multiple passages leading to the room. Can't wait to stay there again. And the rooftop pool is iconic in Vegas and such a fun time with a great view of the mountains. Thank you for sharing Dale and Paula.
Thank you so much for giving us this little insight into the Hotel Apache! Ohh my goodness, now I really want to book an overnight stay - I LOVE all things Victorian.
This has been such fun watching this video about Binion's! It's on my list to have dinner there next time we are there (those steaks looked so good!)... and maybe stay at the hotel. It's so interesting to know that Benny Binion was a Texan! And that the rider/horse statue that was with Billy Bob's in Fort Worth made its way to Las Vegas. Fort Worth is my hometown. ..where the West begins!
I love the restaurant! Great views, service and food. Hopefully our next trip to Vegas we can go again. Thanks Paula and Dale. Love all the historical facts.
Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, I used to live there. They have stock yard events and rodeo every year. Brought back memories of Fort Worth. Thank you for the history of Binions. Back in the day Fort Worth was the main meat processing place.
Great video! Trust us, The Apache isn’t the only part that’s haunted - so is Binions itself. We found that out for ourselves, accidentally, before they ever reopened The Apache. Up until the pandemic, our friends would come here every Thanksgiving and we would go ghost hunting in the hotel. The hotel wasn’t open, but we still stumbled upon it. Oooh the stories we have. 😳🙃😁
@@paulamckenzie Well, technically, we were IN Binion’s when Jeff and I went looking for the pool only to discover it was closed - permanently… and so our Ghost Hunting Adventure inside Binion’s began. Toooo much to write. This was in 2012 and continued. I’ll just call you. 💜💜
Hi Paula and Dale! I loved going to Binion's Steak House! I haven't been to Las Vegas in a while, but I remember how good that place was! Do you remember the breakfast place downstairs in the back of the casino? They had eggs and a HUGE ham steak for 2.99!!! Binions is a big blast from the past!! Thanks so much for sharing! Hugs!!
We always eat breakfast at the cafe, great prices and service. Was not sure of the barbeque place was open, but mow that we know will get our dinner there on our next LV trip
What a great video and pleasantly surprise Where you were sitting in the steak house. We sat in the same spot you sat at in 1995 when it was Top of the Mint.Blown over with the view at dark.
I have eaten at that steak house, before they closed off Fremont ST.! It was for my birthday in January of 91. I think we had the long table next to you guys, lol. My late sister-in-law was friends with Jack Binnion. We had great service and great food. Loved the video.
Another great blog! Love the history of old Vegas casinos. Nice ending about the statue at Southpoint. We’re stopping there next week on our annual Vegas vacation. It’s usually to have a hot dog from the hot dog cart but now we’ll have to add the horse statue
Yes, sure, we hope you stop by and say hi to Benny and all the cool rodeo memorabilia around him. And we have had the hot dogs off the cart too - yum!!
A new subscriber here and just wanted to say how much I love your quality content!! Super informative and helpful! The music, editing, and narrating are fantastic. You and Paula are adorable haha! I have yet to visit downtown vintage Vegas, but I’m looking forward to checking it out thanks to this video! Thanks again for sharing your experiences and insights!! Keep up the great work!! And cheers to Paula and her liquid dessert lol!! Whisky is an excellent choice! 🤣🥃
Hello Donna, and welcome to our lovely little RUclips community! We are so glad you found our channel, and even more glad that you like our content. Stay tuned, more on the way. 😊
Pretty amazing history at that casino. I always make at least one trip there during my Vegas visits. Thanks for the update and the tour of the Steakhouse! Yum!!
We'd rather stay at Binion's and eat there than any new hotel in LV. So classic and brings back all the old memorys. Benny Binion CLASS ACT!!! Great presentation you two. Thank you so much
Thank you for your RUclips channel. We enjoyed the Palm at Caesar's-- excellent venue. At Oscar's I had the rib cap that made my wife into a rib cap enthusiast. I'm not sure if you have been to Panevino near Las Vegas' primary airport, but if you like Italian food you will like this restaurant.
Thank you, Mark , for trusting our recommendations! We are so glad you enjoyed both Oscar's and the Palm. And no, we have driven by Panevino a thousand times, but never ate there. Now I will have to try it.
Another great video! I LOVE Binion's - love to gamble there and the steakhouse is absolutely amazing (it's a must go-to on every trip). Never stayed there - but I heard I really didn't miss much - however, The Apache sounds pretty interesting. Never had an issue with Binion's Steakhouse and the food and service is absolutely 5 stars! I was so happy to hear they reopened. I heard a story about Benny Binion while I was playing blackjack at The Golden Gate (at that time - it was when The Horseshoe was transitioning to other buyers). An older gentleman told me that Benny would sometimes actually deal blackjack for a hand or two. He would show both of his cards when he was dealing - which obviously gave players an amazing advantage. Then he would give free dinners to those playing at this table. Heard he was a class act all the way. I felt really bad when the Binion family had to sell it. It was a great loss to that era of hospitality. Thanks for sharing!
Another perfect video, I really love the topic! Thanks for sharing the book Paula. I am looking for it now. Adore you guys. I waited to binge 3 episodes today! So worth it. Happy Summer!
Another excellent informative vlog. Every week your videos just keep getting better. I love learning about Vegas history and your videos always include so many historical facts. I look forward to your adventures every Sunday morning. Thanks for all your hard work !
Fabulous video, as always. I didn’t know about the hotel…I’m going to check it out next month during my downtown week vacation. I dined at the top of the Mint in 1986 and 1987. Looking forward to visiting the steakhouse next month.
Hey guys! Wow that was a fantastic presentation! View from the restaurant spectacular! What a treat! You make my Sunday Mornings brighter.I understand and appreciate all the positives about Benny Binion! Love the casino! Please forgive me but I couldn’t help but also recall one of the most bombastic fascinating and infamous murder mysteries in Las Vegas for decades! Of course I’m referring to the Ted Binion, Sandy Murphy, Ted (forgot his last name) I understand your sticking to the positive.
That was a wonderful look at the history on Binions! Back in the 90's we traveled to Vegas to visit a great friend. He took us to Binions at 10:00 P.M to have steak from Binions ranch. It was a large New York strip and only $6.95. Some people were grumbling because that was the new price, it was $3.95 before. A wonderful meal and great steak!
That was a nice trip back in time. Binions spells Old Las Vegas. I gambled in there a few times with not much luck but that's the way it goes. Too bad you guys couldn't have had a night view from where you were sitting, I bet that would have made your experience even more enjoyable. Thanks for a wonderful production, looking forward to the next one.
Please do more videos of historic Las Vegas. Downtown Las Vegas was a must-see even when the new resorts were being built along the strip. I have often meant to ask you if you could do a video of the autographed photos in your office. Dale has an awesome collection! Getting back to old downtown, on my first trip to Las Vegas was in 1982, we went down to Fremont Street (pre-canopy) and the neon signs were amazing! There seemed to be a bit of a commotion down the block from where we were. When we got there everyone was buzzing about seeing Elizabeth Taylor. Darn! I missed seeing a Hollywood legend by a few minutes. It truly was a special place in its day.
OMG!!! Liz Taylor was my mother's absolute favorite, she used to collect Photoplay magazines with her on the cover! I can only imagine the excitement on Fremont if she was there. as for more historic and more downtown...stay tuned this Sunday, we got more for ya. 😉
LOL well in retrospect, I wish we had! I think the other issue is that it was blasting hot that day - like 113 degrees - and we knew we had to walk back to the car, parked over by the Plaza. If it had been cooler I think we'd have gone for it.
Hi you two. My husband and I always go to Hugo's Cellar when we stay at the Golden Nugget but now we'll have to rethink about going to Binions Steakhouse. Thanks for the review. BTW Paula, I love risotto also.
My wifes second favorite casino , the first being the plaza. Once i get her in there i can't get her out. we never stayed downtown because i love the over the top glitz of the strip. But i do enjoy visiting downtown for a night. Thank you for sharing 🥂🥂♥️
Wow, kids! Thank you for the terrific history, updates and tour! BTW, the only difference in that picture of you two from a 'few years' back is that I don't see Dale's HAT! This old man will be out there in November, over the Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day, and Binion's will be the 'barracks!' Take care guys, and Best Wishes!
Love listening to you both. Makes me want to get back there and stay wherever you are. In this case Binion's. Just want to give a thumbs up for SouthPoint. We bowl in Nationals whenever it's there and that's where the tournament and we stay. So have gone past that statue several times. The only restaurants we haven't gotten to, are the Chinese place or the one where you have to make reservations and dress up. Always forget to bring dressy clothes. But there's always next time. The rooms are nice and comfortable also. But I do give the SouthPoint a big thumbs up.👍
We do too, Nancy - and we thank you for sharing your personal experiences with others who watch and comment! South Point is a great property, and we live close to it now, we too have enjoyed many of its restaurants and other amenities. We stayed there too, when we were in the middle of our move last year.
Great video, as always. One other tidbit you may know, but maybe some of your followers don't, when you walk into Whiskey Licker Up and you walk up the very first level of stairs you'll see an actual section of the original Mint sign (which, along with Stardust are the prettiest two signs Vegas ever had, in my opinion). Just a litttle FYI. Again - great video. Really enjoyed it. And without any doubt we are hitting that Steakhouse next visit!!
I'm a big reader, so I'm all for Dale and Paula's Book Recommendations! 👍👍 I really dig that rotating bar. And not just because of the 🍺🍺 selection.. but that certainly helps!
You guys are great. Who knew about Hotel Apache👍. Thanks for telling us about the Plaza, that’s gonna be amazing. Paul’s looks hot in the photo. Benny would hate Texas now. No gambling ever😌. Southpoint breakfast buffet is the best🤠. Cheap & hardy.🌟
We are SO glad you like the history! We think that's what makes our channel a little different from the other RUclips channels who do Las Vegas...we think the history of this town is fascinating. 😊
What a great video! I am craving a delicious steak now! I am still convinced that you need to have your own show on the travel network and/or have a contract with Las Vegas Tourism Office and have your videos available on all incoming flights for those visiting to enjoy! :)
Zachary, I agree. However, the only problem is that nearly all of the programming now on The Travel Channel focuses on the supernatural. I don't know if you've seen the program listings for Travel Channel, but the shows have titles like "Haunted Hospitals," "UFO Hunters," "Ghost Hunters," "Paranormal Caught on Camera," and "Aliens in Alaska" to name some.
What a nice thing to say! I hadn't heard that term used to describe us, but you know what? It fits - I think the two of us do have wonderment at the uniqueness of this town and its history, its past, its present.
Another fun video. Never stayed at Binions, though we have visited there. Funny you should mention the South Point, we got put up there overnight a few years ago when our flight was delayed. I really like the place, and have a bit of a soft spot for it. Looking forward to you doing a staycation there. :)
We actually stayed there last year when we were moving, but we did not vlog it as we were busy with the move. We keep saying we want to get back there and vlog the whole place, because there is a LOT going on under that one roof! Maybe during the rodeo this December would be the perfect time.
I'm so glad you includid Binions Steakhouse in your vlog, I feel like it's always left out and never looked at by vegas vloggers and it is unbelievable, I had my very small (just 4 of us) Wedding meal here in 2018 and they looked after us so well, it was the most delicious meal I have ever eaten!
If anyone is interested in watching the Ghost Adventures episode when they investigated Binion’s it’s season 21 episode 5. I watched it again last night.
Thank you for sharing this, Monica - we pinned it so others can see it. :)
I'll be taking my mom to Top of the Binion's for her 85th Birthday next month. Thank you for the history and review. Thumbs up.
Wow, please tell us how the 85th birthday celebration goes - we hope it's wonderful! Tell your Mom happy b'day from us at LVIO.
Binion's Cafe is not only the best breakfast downtown, I would argue the best in Vegas for the price. Underrated hidden gem for sure.
Howdy do....another great and interesting video...😊

And thank YOU for sharing this great story about Benny Binion - I love it!!
A great vlog as always! Nice to hear about old Vegas and New. Your vlogs are very educational and wonderful.
Another perfect video, I really love the topic! Thanks for sharing the book Paula. I am looking for it now. Adore you guys. I waited to binge 3 episodes today! So worth it. Happy Summer!
Aww Ginger, you made my day! We love binge watchers!! 🥰
One of your best! 👏
Thank you! We love to hear that 😊
Thanks for taking my advise, hope you enjoy it! George
Wow, one person could get the NY Strip and a drink for $75 now, that's a deal in Vegas Steakhouses. All inclusive, still is around, who knew?
Yep, I write down recommendations from viewers like you, and eventually we get to them. 😊
@@bodyloverz30 We agree! It IS amazing to find an all-inclusive steak dinner with that kind of quality, for that price.
What a lovely historic wooden staircase!!
Isn't it beautiful? It just beckons you to go up and see what's around the bend.
Yee Haw !! Another great vlog !!!@ ☆☆☆
Love it brings back memories
Great video - will definitely be putting Binion’s Steakhouse on our next trip list. Pro tip: *always* leave room for crème brûlée! 😀
LOL well in retrospect, I wish we had! I think the other issue is that it was blasting hot that day - like 113 degrees - and we knew we had to walk back to the car, parked over by the Plaza. If it had been cooler I think we'd have gone for it.
Looks like my kind of place!! 'Enjoyed the entire presentation. Thanks for a job well done!!!
As always, we loved the video! This one was above average you guys!
Really a neat video and so nostalgic! Loved it and again thank you for sharing it with us❤️
Great video we enjoy going to Binions
Very nice dale & paula
My Man!! and the Mrs.too!!
Thank you for watching! 😊
Another great vlog! Excellent research, narration & editing. Keep up the great work!
You're content is always great.
Thank you so much, lovely thing to say 😊
I'm a big reader, so I'm all for Dale and Paula's Book Recommendations! 👍👍 I really dig that rotating bar. And not just because of the 🍺🍺 selection.. but that certainly helps!
You guys are great. Who knew about Hotel Apache👍. Thanks for telling us about the Plaza, that’s gonna be amazing. Paul’s looks hot in the photo. Benny would hate Texas now. No gambling ever😌. Southpoint breakfast buffet is the best🤠. Cheap & hardy.🌟
Whiskey Licker Up Saloon: Anything with that much BBQ on the menu was made for me.
you guys are awesome, i love all the history you throw in
We are SO glad you like the history! We think that's what makes our channel a little different from the other RUclips channels who do Las Vegas...we think the history of this town is fascinating. 😊
Great video as usual.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!
@@busterbud You're right, however, with enough push and support...if we prove an audience and a market for it...it could happen! :)
I really love you guys! Such informative and genuine reviews, and your wonderment at Las Vegas still carries on after all these years!! xxooxx
What a nice thing to say! I hadn't heard that term used to describe us, but you know what? It fits - I think the two of us do have wonderment at the uniqueness of this town and its history, its past, its present.
@@paulamckenzie Thank you for your reply! It does fit indeed! Keep up the good work you guys! xxooxx (love from Australia)
I agree you both have been in Vegas along time, it would be fun. You can get in touch with him at The Las Vegas Advisor.
Thank you so much for the endorsement!
I loved this video. So glad the steakhouse is all inclusive. The steaks looked wonderful. Thanks guys 😊😊😊😊
Great video!!
Thank you for watching 😊
The Binion cafe is one of the best for Breakfast!!!
@@paulamckenzie good plan, it is a fantastic place. I look forward to seeing you cover it. :)
We were always downtown . Dad liked the dollar slot machine.. It paid well ! ..Paula you look like a million bucks .You too Dale .
I'm so glad you includid Binions Steakhouse in your vlog, I feel like it's always left out and never looked at by vegas vloggers and it is unbelievable, I had my very small (just 4 of us) Wedding meal here in 2018 and they looked after us so well, it was the most delicious meal I have ever eaten!
that was great ty so much
