I don't think I've ever seen a bad Layne Staley performance. Shit, even their unplugged performance, in the midst of everything going on personally, was legendary. It's unfortunate that most really good rock and metal vocalists only really have a couple good growly, gritty vocal years (think Serj Tankian), just a limitation of all human vocal chords. Layne seemed to give it his all even past that point. Though to be honest I don't know anything about the proper method of singing, beyond knowing that there's a right and wrong way to do it.

Dammmmmmnnnn!!! I've been an Alice in Chains fan for years, but I've NEVER Heard this song live till this very moment. I'm stunned... I've always loved Layne Staley (I named my son after him! Michael Làyne)Layne's voice was the most unique, powerful, haunting, chilling, incomparable, mesmerizingly , insanely soul reaching voice I've EVER had the pleasure of listening to. They say that although an immensely friendly, funny, kind, decent human being that Layne was, he was very sad, cuz of his father, and his demeanor was almost "timid",but I tell you, that man expressed himself with that voice, and Oh, the stories he had to tell Us!!!!. R.I.P Layne, and may reside happily in God's kingdom.

As a white guy who lived on this music in my youth....and grew to hugely appreciate and love hip hop....
I absolutely love how damn near 90% of my favorite reaction channels are......black people reacting to 90s shit.
Music knows no boundaries. It's fascinating and super cool how black people overwhelmingly have taken over the reaction space.
We get to relive our love of this music through their fresh ears. And they appreciate the fuck out of it. And I love it. It's beautiful.

    Finally you did this!
Layne Staley is my Rock God. He's in my profile pic here too.
He was one of a kind. In his prime his voice is so powerful. His real voice... None of today's auto tune crap.
    Love your channel.
    More Alice please.
Also I like that you don't constantly interrupt the flow of the song.
    Do ' I Stay Away ".

Got to admit Jamal I love the way that you react to music like this. It’s a pure reaction without the misguided judgement that a lot of people who will never fully appreciate the pure force that the music has. Layne is one singer from the 90’s ‘grunge’ scene who I didn’t get to see live but I wish that I had.
