This is my favorite AIC song, a tribute to Andrew Wood who died from an OD in 1990. Jerry and Layne's voices were perfect together! This song STILL gives me chills
Cameron Crowe's excellent documentary PEARL JAM: TWENTY does a great job of eulogising Andrew Wood, and showing how his death completely devastated the Seattle scene. And in retrospect it's especially sad seeing Chris Cornell get so emotional about Andy's death, knowing that eventually he would take his own life.
One of the few bands in existence where you can't go wrong no matter what song you choose. I was into them the day they released their first album, and onward, yet to this day I still get chills when I hear them. AIC...FOREVER.
This tune was for Andrew Wood from the band Mother Love Bone, who also overdosed on Heroin.... Andy and Chris Cornell were good friends as well.... which I also feel had a large part in Chris' depression and subsequent suicide. Layne, Andy, Chris, Mike Starr, Chester, Kurt, Scott....(and many others)... my God what an incredible list of talent that left this earth entirely too early. I couldn't even begin to give you a reference point as to where to start listening to ALL these phenomenal bands.... singers.... musicians.... my advice.... just start..... you won't be disappointed in ANY of these bands....but AIC is my personal favorite because their music got me through some very dark personal days in my life..... anyway.... these dudes, in their primes, were Camelot in music from late 80s to late 90s.... if we only knew....
I grew up in Seattle and was in high school when the grunge scene was king and these guys was king. Nirvana got all the hype and national attention but in Seattle it was all about Chains and Soundgarden
There are so many great AIC songs to choose from. Nutshell, Them bones, No excuses, Again, Ses of sorrow, We die young, Bleed the freak... But i also recommend to check out Layne's other band Mad Season; Wake up (my favourite), River of deceit, Long gone day.
This is 1 of my favourite AIC songs , the rich bass, the lead solo, the harmonies, the drums man Sean so talented considering that he NEVER WAS TAUGHT, then of course we hv Layne his voice is insane not only probably the most powerful but he could hit notes female singers couldn't hit. This video is both beautiful&sad they're all so young &had no clue that not that far off in the future half the band would be dead also the fact that they wrote it for Andrew wood (would) who had died so young. (Try to see it once my way- I've been where Layne was &by the grace of God I survived but u will always live with the label so that line speaks volumes to me)
1992 this song was released and it was the song that turned me on to AIC..and OMFG I loved em from that minute on. I was into grunge in a big way and Pearl Jam, Soundgarden,MudHoney we’re part of my daily listen. AIC were just awesome and Laynes vocals along with Jerry’s harmonies made each song have a depth of darkness. It was a sad day when Layne passed away because he and AIC has just hit the peak of their careers and the best was yet to come but this album DIRT is sublime and I’m playing all these 27 years later .
When I heard this song, at the end all I could think was "Yes! I could". The layers and texture of sound in this song are still amazing all these years later. I love this song.
The emotions these bands invoke in me make me go "YOOOOOOOO!", and the only music of late that has given me that same reaction is Guilty Gear's Six Black Heavens Guns lmao. It's not even a band, it's music from a fighting game that gives me the chills that these bands do hahahaha! When I was growing up, my parents listened to Alice in Chains, Faith No More, The Police... these bands just transported my young mind into another world, and they'll always be special to me.
I feel lucky to have been a teen around 80s early nineties. The different music going in n out of the chart. Was 🔥🔥. One week was MJ then dr Dre then grunge then dance. Dirt also react to dirt by Alice in chains plz.
Jamel you are a cool dude. My girlfriend and I have been watching your reactions for quite some time and I finally said I’ve got to holler at Jamel. It’s awesome to see you first meet and then get into some of our favorite people. Layne, Chris Cornell and the other unbelievable singers that we have lost. Tracy and I have to have our fix of Alice In Chains, anything that Chris does and pretty much all genres of music. I learned as a child that if you really get into music and feel it the way we do and you do, you have to listen to all music. Keep on reacting to those Seattle boys and we will be watching. Thank you bro for what you do for us music aficionados. Keep on keeping on!
My all time favorite AIC jam. I've been late for things just because this song was on the radio and I couldn't leave my car til it finished. And that Sabbath-style Black Panther shirt is dope!
Music can Jump Start your Soul. I have had a few difficult weeks and a Week ago I threw on an old Jimi Hendrix Concert CD and I instantly felt alive again. The Blood was pumping, the Emotions were flying and now I have been singing out loud for 5 Days. This is one of those Songs that if you don't feel something, you should have a Doctor take a look at you. Get Mad, get Sad, get Happy, get Excited but feel something.
I just LOVE watching you listen to Laynes power, also Chris Cornell. I HIGHLY suggest you do a video listen to Slaves & Bulldozers by Soungarden from Badmotorfinger album. Talk about POWER VOCALS. All 4 of Chris AMAZING 4 octane range is heard, & when he hits that power whale I drop to my knees. Love that you love Laynes super unique, hauntingly BEAUTIFUL voice. Plus Cantrell's guitar playing & Inez's low gruwling bass is always sick. Stay up & keep jamming to my grunge generation. Truly beautiful poetry filled with pain & emotion. Layne was VERY inflicted & suffering with his additions here unfortunately. Notice he has no teeth left...but he still kills those vocals! Rest in Peace Beautiful Layne & Chris.
No Excuses from AIC is another one of many of their extensive song library that has absolutely beautiful harmonizing and masterful musicianship. AIC ARE AWESOME 🤘🤘
I will be 50 yrs born / young on 09.15.2021 2 yrs after this was posted! What a great early Bday gift for me to see you Jamel/Jamal reacting to this! HTX ITH!
You know it really doesn't matter what Alice in Chains you watch with Lane Staley he was gifted and has an amazing voice. His music will always be with us..RIP Lane we all Love You and miss you dearly...,..listen to We all Die Young & Bleed Freak.
"Would" is the AIC song that caught my attention. But "Rooster" and "Man In The Box" forever hooked me. A lot of great songs on this album Dirt. What an effing voice, RIP Layne.
I rock this band daily rollin round our beautiful country. My favorite's from the era. If you're mind space is caddywompus you may want to stay outta Alice's neighborhood. It goes dark, quickly.
I love these cross platform reaction videos. I Pray trends like this lead to black, white, latino, whoever.... to start appreciating the similarities rather than focusing on the differences of all our cultures and backgrounds... I love all types of shit, I definitely don't tick just one box and I know that hip hop heads would love some of the rock beats and songs, live instruments and I know rock heads would appreciate the poetry, stories and flow of hip hop. we just automatically categorize things as "not my type" and dismiss it quick... open doors ya'll, get to know your neighbors and not just the ones like you! Peace, love and victory to all...
AIC, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Pumpkins, Nirvana, Melvins, Faith No More, Beastie Boys, Rage, Pantera, Tool...my adolescence. It was a GREAT time to get into music. I miss the 90's. Kids today have NO IDEA what good music is. I'm also partial to 60's-70's, some 80's. Alice In Chains had serious style. It shows in this video.
No shit.... listening to any ALICE IN CHAINS is a good day.... I'm good for 5 tunes a day.... starting back in 1990 when I was 23 and listening to 10 a day.... excellent reaction....
My all time fave AiC song right here. Down in a Hole, Rooster, Rain When I Die, Dirt are a close 2nd to 5th, respectively. There is just So many GREAT AiC songs.
From the movie "Singles" that had Pearl Jam and other bands members in the film. It was a Cameron Crowe movie and filmed in Seattle. I got to watch some of the filming! Love AIC! Jerry and Layne harmonize so well! It shows AIC playing in a club in one scene. Fantastic time in early 1990s! Talented bands in one city!
This song is awesome. This album, a masterpiece. This band... phenomenal.
That dirty, dirty bass line....I love it!!
Get's me everytime.
One of the best
It is absolutely filthy!
Ha, I saw what you did there.
Mike Starr RIP
Angry Chair. It needs some love. Never see it mentioned. Classic
So So true... 🤙
Thank you. That and Sludge Factory
The entire "Dirt" album could be suggested.
It's a MASTERPIECE.
@@sydIRISH I was looking for this ! That album is amazing from top to bottom 🤟
He should react to the "Angry Chair" video if he hasn't yet.
THIS WAS THE SONG THAT HOOKED ME ON AIC FOREVER!!!!
I got hooked on We Die Young....
Man in the box got me
Nutshell is what got me
Me too!!!!!!! That bass line and Layne waling!!!!!!!!!!

"Into the flood again. Same old trip it was BAAAAAAAAACK then"

He progresses the length of "back" on every hook. It's amazing.
I think you'd like Them Bones by AIC as well :)
Dirt is just a masterpiece...

@@RolandDeschain1 That's an awesome documentary! I've been a huge Pearl Jam fan since the first time I saw them live back in '91!
Andrew Wood ❤❤
I so wish Andy knew how much he changed the rock scene in Seattle.
Apparently, the orange shirt Layne is wearing in this video belonged to Andy.
Sean Kinney’s grooves are so magnificent, guy doesn’t get enough credit !
Jerry Cantrel too man, Staley is the rough emotion and Jerry is the soft harmony
Layne Staley was a grade A vocalist....strong..powerful ...never fails to deliver....miss him terribly ...Alice in Chains is one of the best....
Grunge put the blues and soul back into rock music! This song was one of the great grunge classics! 😊
I agree! 100%
Laynes voice just makes me wanna cry for no reason
I rocked to Laynes voice in my lat 20s n 30s im 57 now n still do turned my kids n 12 yr ol grandson onto this band.❤
I miss the 90s. The best music ever.
A lot of people were reeled into Alice by Man In The Box. This was the one that did it for me.
Mine was Them Bones, next I heard Would?, then Man in the Box & Rooster back to back. I was hooked.
Absolute perfection. Bass, percussion, voice, structure.
I wore the dirt CD out. It wouldn’t even play in my car😂 I’m now on my 4th dirt CD that I’ve own
Classic album for sure, and my favorite by AIC.
Still got a CD player?
@@pyromaniac354 music sounds much better on vinyl. I assume you are into mp3 players but absolutely nothing beats vinyls.
Dirt was so fucking heavy. That CD was the reason I stopped doing H back in the 90's.
Lol my jar of flies cassette still plays, just gotta be gentle with the older tech
That bass intro is just sick. My favorite Alice In Chains song. A whole new world of music, enjoy the ride!

Layne had so much power and compression in his voice Live, I saw him do that from a wheelchair when AIC opened for GNR in '93...
That had to be incredible
Alice in Chains - Bleed the Freak 🤘 an underrated classic
THAT INTRO;
VERSE RIFFS;
THAT CHORUS RIFF;
THAT SOLO;
AND THOSE VOCALS.
one of the best!
I know I’m late to this thread and I LOVE this song but Bleed the Freak is my favorite ❤
God damn do I miss Layne .
Such powerhouse vocals....
Absolutely perfect .. ..I miss him everyday......his music,his voice....sheer perfection....
