Great stuff Phil! I’ve been watching a lot of your vids lately and they’re all really well done. I’m in the states and have been wondering if one of these would be good for my house “re model”, I’m replacing most of the doors and trim. I picked up a 5 stage turbine from Harbor Freight ( not sure if you’re familiar with Harbor Freight there in the UK ) and it’s a great machine but I’ve been struggling with getting the finish out of it that I want with Sherwin Williams Emerald urethane which is a Wb alkyd. I was an auto body painter for 27 years and have multiple high end spray guns but running 150 feet of hose from my garage through the windows is a little bit of a pain😅. I can get great results with conventional hvlp and lvlp spray guns but the overspray is a bit more, the hvlp turbine is a different animal and I love the thought of using less material and having less overspray but …. maybe I need to get a bit more used to it, it’s definitely much slower though but I wouldn’t mind as long as I could get everything glassy smooth. It’s killing me though because I can get outstanding results with a brush and the stuff just looks like glass as long as it’s a straight run of moulding , like chair rail or crown. But when it comes to all the “ins and outs” of jambs I find it impossible to get it all perfect lol. I can’t help but wonder how smooth/silky it would lay out with one of these and a 208-210 or 308-310 tip. These are around $1400 usd here, I’m a little scared to take the chance. I have the Graco True coat DS and don’t like it at all

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator thanks! In your opinion, if you weren’t in any real hurry and were working on your own house, would you prefer the quick shot over hvlp for trim? By the time I’m done I’m going to have one of everything 😅
That's a good one to get, will do you for ceilings and walls and woodwork. It will go as far as a .19 tip (the gx21 takes a max .21) The quick shot Only goes to a .16
You won't regret it mate. Brilliant sprayer. I recommend the compact contractor gun if you're feeling flush for another couple of hundred quid. Domestically the gxff will do everything you need it to. 👍
@mananddog9884 Good question, I'd decide first if I wanted to go HVLP or airless. If I was going hvlp I'd go for a 5 stage turbine with a pot feed to the gun so you can get into tight areas, if you're going airless I'd still go gxff. If you shell out another £250 odd for a compact contractor gun you won't go wrong. It literally sits in the palm of your hand, so if you can get your hand in there, you'll get the gun in there. The standard hose that comes with gxff should be good enough for that as its quite flexible and thin but you might want to add a whip hose. 👍
I think I'd rather the gxff cordless with a 7.5 metre hose myself. At least that holds x5 the paint. Been toying with the idea of one for priming on site. Nice for small jobs I suppose, but wouldn't really work for me.

@@innerarmour8347try sikkens wd198, I've just discovered it. I spray loads of oak kitchens and also air sprayed bin. After using the sikkens I will never go back to bin. It can be sprayed with airless as it's waterborne and it goes on lovely. You can get 20 litre drums and it works out cheaper than bin. It sands a lot better and you can achieve a far nicer finish. Hope this helps mate. It cover knot bleed and tanin bleed and all other stains I've encountered 👍
@@leothelegend8201 Just had a look at the datasheet and it states 8-10 hrs recoat time, unfortunately that won't work for me. Does it cover bleed through in one coat? I have no issue spraying bin with the cordless gxff airless as it can be grounded. It just uses too much paint compared to air spray. I was trying to figure out if this new unit with the newest technology would spray bin at a lower pressure and not use as much paint. Maybe with a 206 tip. Was thinking of buying one just for bin. It would make things a lot easier.
@@innerarmour8347 I'm my experience it has covered all bleed through in one coat. It also leaves a much nicer surface to paint than bin and fills grain lovely. I didn't realize the recost time was so long, I was sure it was 4 to 6 hours. It's never been a problem for me as I normally coat cabinet doors in my unit in the morning and then spray the trim on site in the afternoon, then repeat the process the following day so I leave 24 hrs between coats. Get a 5 litre tin and see what you think, it has honestly been a game changer for me mate
Was thinking about buying this unit. Just worried it's same shittyquality as ultra handheld graco which lasted fpr few cans of paint. Let us know how it perform after 200 galons of paint. Cheerz mate!
I think price would be the first big difference, its possible to get an ultra max for around the £700 mark, nearly half the cost of this. I suppose there is more bulk with the ultra so difficult to get into tight spaces and it can get a bit weighty for some people if it's full of paint, also the ultramax can spit a bit so you have to buy the clean shot attachment for it. Be interesting to know the pump life comparison of the two. 👍

Ideal for furniture spraying... You'll only be using small amounts of paint at a time. A gx19 is the GXff we have here.. with a 7.5m hose you'll need to fill with paint. The ultra quick shot only has a 1.8m hose.
What makes this sprayer worth 3x the price of similar units? Does it spray that much better, more convenient, easier to use, faster to spray with? Seems VERY overpriced and I am not seeing how it is any better than the Graco/Dewalt/etc sprayers that are $300 or so with good handles/tips.
There's isn't anything on the market like it. Electronic gun/needle, so auto shut off, no spits, no need for a Clean Shot. Versatile gun to spray in any direction easily. 2000psi. It's not bulky or cumbersome.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I have a Fuji minimite 4. I have found it to work very well in painting rooms, doors, cabients, etc. It has finer particles so in a room I run a vac with filter, but otherwise I am not sure I see the difference. Just trying to argue with myself if this unit would be better to use for all my projects which include rooms, doors, cabinets, etc.. or stick with the minimite 4 and save the money.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator OK.. let me ask you this.. the Quickshot vs many of the "similar" piston driven options from graco, etc. The size/portability is nice, but the price makes it rough. I've got spitting from my Graco Ultra Quickshot due to leaking from the tip, but the retailer does not support me in servicing or replacing it.
have you stripped it down and cleaned it all?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yes, but the problem was there right out of the box despite making sure everything being assembled as it should.
@@Yannis2022 tips do spit until it's bedded in. Run a load of water through it. That should bed the rubber seal in too
Wont be no good for oil based satin then on site got no plugs. Only time i would use this is on woodwork on new builds. Do t see the point it really. I just get my tritech out
Forgot to ask, what brand of water based paints do you use with these? Could you use valspar in a satin for example?
Yes. You may need to thin different paints with more water though. A bit trial and error.
What does olive oil think of it?
She said there's no need for her to have an extension bar attached for ceilings.
Have you sprayed BIN with this unit??
no, but did BIN Aqua through my 495st max II pc pro last week, video out in a few weeks
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I usually air spray bin, a nice light coat and it goes a long way, I find the airless uses a lot more paint, too much in fact and also increases drying times. How does bin aqua compare to the original, have you tried it on oak?? Will it stop bleed through??
Cheerz mate!
that's 1000 ltrs and a lot of top ups of the little pot lol
Agree. I normally don't do extended warranties, but I wish one was available for this unit.
That's my concern as the ultra was wank
Nice. Why would you buy this over the ultra or ultra max?
I think price would be the first big difference, its possible to get an ultra max for around the £700 mark, nearly half the cost of this. I suppose there is more bulk with the ultra so difficult to get into tight spaces and it can get a bit weighty for some people if it's full of paint, also the ultramax can spit a bit so you have to buy the clean shot attachment for it. Be interesting to know the pump life comparison of the two. 👍
Hi mate. Just found you're page. Any videos on getting a really good finish on door frames
Welcome aboard.
You mean spray finish?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator no with a brush pal. Thanks for the welcome 😊 am in my 4th year hopefully qualified next year. Ps old man I work with has doors looking like glass. 👍
@@Johnnyquid20 paint isn't like it used to be.
Glass paint will be oil based gloss.
Prep is key, also using an oil based Undercoat, nib down between coats and do a two top coat gloss finish is the secret.
Adding some extender oil additive helps too.
Don't do it in a cold environment either.
We mainly use water based now.
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Thanks very much for the advice 👍 guy I'm working with noting but oil he doesn't even want us putting a bit of spirits in the paint. He is 70 years old so old school all the way lol 😆 thanks again

It would be good to get a video on some high end finish tips like the ones you just mentioned in this comment. Cheers Phil.

Could you use this for wardrobe doors? Or would I be better off getting the gx19?
Ideal for furniture spraying... You'll only be using small amounts of paint at a time.
A gx19 is the GXff we have here.. with a 7.5m hose you'll need to fill with paint.
The ultra quick shot only has a 1.8m hose.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecoratorthanks , that’s a good point! Didn’t think about the amount of paint it will take to fill the hose!

Any thoughts on overspray removal ?
Hi. Water based?
Meths.
Apologies, I meant removal of overspray / mist / dust from the air as it's being created if you see what I mean@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@@nicw2545 you mean like a air scrubber?
Is that what you use / are they any good ? Or fan and ducting ? or even ... both@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
yes or similar. Are they effective ?@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
That pump sounds like it’s in pain 🤣
Can’t see it lasting very long just like the ultra
we'll see lol
Can you use extension tube swan?
I can't see why not.
The gun doesn't need a clean shot though.
It may spit with a bar on..
the pressure will decrease
Can you spray rooms with this?
Have you watched the video yet?
Hay! Been a while how it going? Did you get your Porsche yet?
well..... not yet lol
Lol maybe this video will go viral and you can get 3 then

Dude where can I get the Vaseline???
supermarket, chemist, ... it can also be called petrolium jelly.. does the same thing
They both seem to put good quality paint down fast. I know I can get much finer output than airless, but airless can spray a bit faster I guess. Just trying to argue with myself if this unit would be better to use for all my projects which include rooms, doors, cabinets, etc.. or stick with the minimite 4 and save the money.
@@b3owu1f if that's all you're using it for stick with it.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator OK.. let me ask you this.. the Quickshot vs many of the "similar" piston driven options from graco, etc. The size/portability is nice, but the price makes it rough. You can find bucket piston sprayers for $300. Does this one still blow those away, if so why/how? I am not opposed to spending good money on quality tools.. but it seems most of those units dont last long.. so is this unit built like a german tank and going to lost a long time and that is part of why its more expensive as well?
@@b3owu1f I think you need to have a demo with one and see what you think
I'd buy one for £600. No more than that.
Why's that?

Buy a tritech t5 with a hopper with 15 foot hose with with a whip on ,that thing is a toy
Is there a T5 battery operated now then?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator didn't realise you was working without juice available mate ,graco 390 cordless with hopper then ,not being arsey mate but had the fine finish cordless gun with pot underneath years ago ,complete waste of time and money , got a bad feeling about that lasting long either ,oh and by the way if tritech ever make a cordless t5 I'm all over it,

£1100 here in the uk

For what it does. You can get the previous model for half the price but this has much better finish. It does cost the same as something like a 390 but its much more convenient to use on smaller jobs like painting front doors sections of trim work ext.
