How VelociCoaster is just the beginning... | Coaster Theory

- Velocicoaster at Universals Islands of Adventure took the industry by surprise because we were not expecting this thing to go up as fast as it did. It seems like every week we got a new element or some sort of major update. As of now, we don't know any specific stats but a general overview, it's going to have four inversions and going to be packed with airtime. A lot of coasters nowadays either pick one or the other, you get some RMC's which focus on a lot of airtime, and then you’ll get something like a B&M which does a lot more on the inversion side. Veloci Coaster however being one of the newer Intamin Blitz coasters, it's going to have both airtime and inversions, where one doesn't outweigh the other. We saw Intamin do a great job with Taron and Taiga, and now they're doing it again in Florida. Not only did Intamin do a phenomenal job with the newer international coaster, but also with Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. This ride opened as a huge expansion to Hogwarts with record numbers, the wait time for this ride clocked in at ten hours an opening day. Hagrid has some great surprises along the way that emirates you in the world of Harry Potter. With that said, Hagrids caters much more to the families, so it's great to see a ride like Velocicoaster come for more of that bigger thrill, something that Universal is known for and does much better than competitors. Track work on Jurassic Coaster is barely complete and many are already jumping to conclusions saying it could be one of, if not the best coaster in the country. And that's saying something with its competition being some beloved Hyper Hybrids and B&M Gigas. But what exactly about this ride sets expeditions so high. Other than it being one of the newer Intamin Blitz, it's going to be themed around velociraptors from the Jurassic World trilogy. Already from construction photos and video, Veloci Coaster is a lot like the animals it's themed after, staying low to the ground, moving fast, and of course it's aggressive. Throw all of it together with some rumored preshows, maybe some animatronics and screen effects and you've got the winning formula. But what about what's coming next, perhaps to Universal's Epic Universe.

Universal Studios Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa are my two home parks, so seeing what could be possibly the best rides in the country being built is super exciting
the hot racer has no where near the capacity a universal ride would require.

Dixxx Enormous rip ride rockit has a moving station and like 7 block sections. The trains can fit 12 people each and they can run 7 trains at any given time which makes it have a very high hourly through-put. Unless universal wants to put several block brakes on another coaster which is not appealing for intense rides, it won’t have the proper capacity it needs for Universals heavy crowd levels
@Dixxx Enormous According to Intamin themself, Hot Racer can support 600-800 pph (Keep in mind Intamin also tends to inflate their capacity numbers). HRRR can support 1,800 pph, about 3x as much
Interesting idea, a Hot Racer coming to Epic Universe makes a lot of sense, and for its theme I know it’s not themed to a land but theming it to Fast and Furious might be something Universal would consider.
Also there was an Intamin interview recently that came from a French Coaster website that confirmed that a Hot Racer has been sold, I don’t think it was for Universal but if you use google translate you can see that they said that they have sold their first Hot Racer: coastersworld.fr/interview-intamin-single-rail-coaster-hot-racers/

The new dueling coaster for Epic Universe? Fast and Furious, Duh!! Especially since they closed the attraction at Universal. Plus why not theme the Hot Racer model to a franchise based on racing?!
I would assume if they got an intamin single rail, it'd be a custom layout capable of high capacity numbers
The upside to this situation is that 2021 will be absolutely legendary now.

The legoland parks need a thrill coaster. The theming would be incredible and it would easily become a popular coaster
CoasterHorizons, they definitely don’t, they are perfect for the ‘families-with-younger-children’ market, which is shown in attendance figures and by the fact that they keep building more of them. I think somewhere on their website it says its designed for children under 12 or something similar, they need rides that families can enjoy together and they are doing that already.
Ben Jacobs I know but still. There’s always room for improvement and possibility for change. Even if they don’t add a major coaster, they could add some thrilling flag rides. Like a screaming swing or a pendulum ride
CoasterHorizons, but that doesn’t cater for their target market, they are really the only chain that caters solely to younger families, it works very well for them and they aren’t going to change their business strategy to try and attract customers from an already overcrowded thrill market.
They are going continue this strategy for the long foreseeable future, and as such the most thrilling rides you’re going to get are smaller family coasters and less intense flat rides.
I doubt they’d go for a hot racer as they don’t have a massive capacity, even if they duel. If they want to keep going with Intamins, it could easily be a completely custom coaster that isn’t in line with any current model - like they had the inverted side of duelling dragons.
Or it could just be a premier launch coaster.
I think Velocicoaster could be one of the most intense coasters in the world. Like Skyrush Intense. But who knows?

Am I the only one who is super excited for the how to train your dragon area? I mean, I'm a huge fan of the franchise so this is huge for me.
It probably won't happen without a new relaunched series, but I think a dueling Battlestar Galactica coaster would be awesome for the new park. The B and M wing coasters are so close to looking like cylon raiders it would be so cool. the dueling one in asia looks ok but I think that'd be good. Otherwise httyd dueling dragon coaster would be great. Though with that new vecoma FLY footage released today, they could get a call for a new family suspended coaster too

The new coaster for a Universal Park (guessing Epic Universe) will be probably from Mack Rides and is supposed to be the largest rollercoaster in the world, costing way more than 23,6 milion USD. Source is an interview of Roland Mack for the german newspaper "Wirtschaftswoche"

I just wish next year a new BaM inverted is built with the old restrains. Hate the vest restrains since I went on the swarm. Felt like it was trying to crush my skeleton structure.

I can't see a hot racer being built. Intamin states it can support 600-800 pph. This being built in a brand new park would be abysmal and the lines would be 2-3 hours regularly.

im done with this velocicoaster is the best crap, literally the only reason its getting so much hype is cuz its an intamin blitz, its located at universal and its themed to Jurassic park, the rides forces make it look like a kiddie coaster when compared to other major modern intamins, and the pacing is pretty bad and the layout isnt that good either, and dont get me started on that heartline roll, which is nowhere near the whip of mavericks heartline roll or even just a typical old school B&M zero g roll, if u want to experience mavericks heartline roll just ride ispeed, no one talks about its inversions yet they are twice as whippy as velocicoasters heartline roll, ppl just looked at it and the first thing that came to their mind was mavericks heartline roll just cuz its low to the ground and over the water, they didnt actually think of how fast the train would be traveling at that point, look at how drawn out the inversion was or even pay attention to an animation for god sake i hate how some enthusiasts have tunnel vision for coasters and look at construction photos or an animation for 2 seconds and make opinions off that, i hate these types of enthusiasts, these are the ones i feel like are in the community for the social aspect and not for the coasters, which just breaks my heart, luckily i care about the actual design of the coasters and look very deep and spend lots of time analyzing coasters and i can tell u velocicoaster looks great, but is nowhere near the level of rides like pantheon, the walibi belgium mega or even maverick, its barley even a top 10 coaster for 2021 if u ask me
