I love watching these build videos. I find them cathartic. Also, whenever I start out to build a home base, this is exactly what I have in mind. However, what I always seem to wind up with is a box. One of life's mysteries, I guess.
It amazes me how creative and dedicated people are. Amazing work. I have a location that I have been eyeing for an epic long term build. Right now I am still learning what to do and what not to.
Haha yeah! Makes for some fun RP :D My character is lazy even the torches outside my front door remain unlit and they are in the ground. I like the look of the poles even without fire too lol

you should have remembered the little grate set into the deeping wall. "Helm's Deep has but one weakness. It's outer wall is solid rock for except for a small culvert in space, which is little more than a drain."
somehow when it was raining while they were doing the battlements at 5:19 it reminds me of The Two Towers itself and Gimli trying to look over the walls
you should really think about interlocking you masonry work - Not only will it look better - itll be a more securely sound structure too. Bricks dont just sit in columns in reallife! However nice build :) looks like a lot of effort :D
Quick tip: when the ground is dug or raised, the texture on the rock face is regular and does not look natural. If you take the Cultivator and put grass whilst touching the cliff side, it changes the texture and makes it look more uniform and natural by taking on a darker colour and taking away the repeating almost diamond like patterns that look unpleasant.
This is an absolute amazing build. But I am sad that I didn't see the most important part of the wall, the drainage hole that caused the wall to fall....
Was just checking if this had been done, I figured someone MUST have by now lol Helms deep always gets the replica treatment in decent building games. I think I'll still have a go myself, the building is way more satisfying than any other I have played. Just feels extremely rewarding compared to others and the snapping works great and is easy to design using timber frames.
The FPS near this must be terrible with all that land reshaping that needed to be done. I cut back part of one hill to build my house and it cut the FPS in half.
Thanks for the inspiration. I know exactly what Lord of the Rings building I'm going to do, the only thing missing from this game would be active volcanoes in the ashlands and hollow them out hehe.
Hi, great build. Are you using a mod to enable using stone unsupported? I find some of the physics a bit frustrating when I am building. I have done some building IRL and know that some of the things I have tried can be done.... but not in Valheim lol. Any, thanks for sharing with us!

This reminds me of all the creative and crazy talented people on Minecraft a shame there’s no achievement all right endgame trophy for making realistic replicas of iconic landmarks from other franchises franchises
All these castles are great but they all look too similar. I hope they widely WIDELY expand the material options in another expansion. IE: more stone items, smaller stone bricks and tiles. Shapes option to make round shapes etc. Among other things. More more more!
Such a shame that terraforming ruins an areas framerate so horribly. Each hoe flatten feels like 1 fps less! Lol @ "Interior showcase". I bet they're running 5900X & rtx3090 and chugging at ~20 fps.
@@outlandexplore It doesn't directly help with the building integrity; staggering them won't let you go higher, but if for example a ground shakes event happens and they destroy a segment of your wall, it won't instantly take everything out that's above it since the pieces above have more "insurance"
I have to know the mods/console commands you are using to get these sweeping camera shots! The only console command I know works on a single player server and I see you have two people here in the game
For a game that advertises making large settlements and impressive creations as a main selling point, you would expect it not to drop FPS so quickly. You can see it on this video, by the end he's running at like 15 fps but that's the experience for anyone making any resemblence of a settlement. We have a city with 5-6 other players and a few are choosing to move out and live separately simply because the frame drop is too high. I know that this is normal, it's how it always is in all survival games but considering the low-poly graphics and the emphasis on building larger settlements, I thought that Valheim would not have this issue. I was sadly wrong.
I think it's a problem with the terraforming. Also, I ran Valheim for around 6ish hours that day with many other applications running in the background. Looking back, If I had rebooted then taken the final shots, the frame rate would have been better. I agree with you though, it is still a big problem.
because there are lots of griefers and building demolishers around. 2 servers that im in already had that problem, its weird. I mean i know its a game but i guess some peeps just wants to destroy people's stuff so bad.
@@ravensworngaming not sure why that would be a problem, you keep the original safefile on your own machine or behind password protection and make a copy available so people can have a look at things and if something is destroyed, just reload a copy.
What i would love to see is a template system, so you could transfer your build onto another server. So you built up something in peace and quite on your own machine and when ready you put it onto a public machine for everyone. You could have then maps controlled by several clans which all have their own version of their ideal castle and maybe in a modded version later on could battle each other with catapults or a M&B combat adaptation.

I was searching for this answer. I have done a few timelapses for the game, and so far, the only way I found was tohave someone else record for me,but given the build took about 10 hours, it may be hard to convincemy buddy to film again.
So cool, respect to that, the dedicatiion and time. Im not saying to do it, but imagine Minas Tirirth. Helm's Deep is as beutiful as it is, but Minas Tirith, that'd be gorgeous.

Did you gather resources manually and did you make use of iron-reinforced wood at all? Using iron-reinforced wood as rebar works really well.
