It would be interesting if you carried this experiment on another 30 years with players continuing to not play World Cups if they have previously been capped. The results later on in the save would be wild.

We are 36th in the world, dropped down a few places in the last update due to losing to Spain (robbed that game) France in a friendly and the two draws in the Euro qualifiers which were pointless games anyway as already qualified.
now do that all players which have second/more nationalities switch to it, ideally the most obscure one, would be sick!! others just keep playing for theirs country but that would hugely close quality gaps between all countries i believe
This would be very problematic for me. I tend, as an international head coach, to give caps to all sorts of players to help with their international experience (or if I see they have a contract clause that raises their wages, yes I am that mean to the AI). Lots of people end up with a handful of caps and goalkeepers get goals because I make sure they take at least one penalty kick in their international career.
As an Argentine. My theory for Argentina's downfall is poor fixture and that there's many players that have at least 1 match played and that must have reduced the talent pool by a lot
The stretch 2014-2020 when Scaloni got the job (by default if I may add because nobody wanted the pressure) was quite tumultuous and even when Scaloni got there he tried played until coming up with its final 23/26.
Austrian football fans are worried right now because our only good player is likely to miss the Euros. At least according to FM we should be fine, though.
