Good version of jungle hunt. Only 4 sections that loop forever, but they do progress in difficulty up to a point. the swinging part especially. -

Parallax scrolling, various different levels, Fun music and good sound effects. This game had it all and amazed my brother and me!
I'm wondering how the 2600 was able to handle this without exploding
I've had this Cannibal scene music playing periodically in my head for 30 years. Couldn't place the name of the game. I only knew it was a scene in which the character jumps over moving headhunters. Nice to scratch this itch after all these years! Now I'll always remember where this unique tune resides!

Same, this game was hidden somewhere in my memory human banks , lol , i recently bought a 2600+ because it’s compatibility 😅I was confusing this one with pitfall, but yes this is the game that I used to play when I was a little lad,this one , snoopy , and some character with a little hoodie, walking across bridges of life. 😅
This is one of the best Atari 2600 games. I used to play it as a kid.
I liked the 2600 version, but I hated the 800XL version.
When playing the boulder run area, my mom had a habit of lifting her controller when she jumped. Just a reflex action, probably :-D

Dude, I'm pretty sure it's a mom thing. My mom did the exact same thing. I'd let her play, from Atari all the way up to PS4, and every time she jumps she'd yank the controller.
I had this game for my Atari 2600. Loved it soo much.... This game was amazing back in the day.

Ah, this brings back memories. I had this game and was so disappointed that it wasn't Jungle King, as well as being nowhere near as the arcade version. The main thing missing is the music. I can still hear that tune in my head...
Yup. I came to post the same, my local chuck e cheese had Jungle King well into the late eighties.
The opening music at the beginning of each stage brings back memories of when I played this game back in 1985

Lmao I've seen the AVGN videos a.million times but I have it playing in the background and couldn't sleep and heard that part and decided to look up Jungle Hunt and now I'm here.
I like it when the game start sound repeats itself if you die within 7 seconds of starting the Reptile River stage.
It's weird that the cannibal section is the only one in this port to have music, while in the arcade it was the only segment without it.

My parents had this before I was born (in January 1984) and so I grew up playing this, E.T., Pacman and a few others until they got us a NES one day while I was in kindergarten.

The first timeI played this game and had my first encounter with the cannibal I remembered that I almost cried, I was really terrified to see that and the sound. I mean I was playing in the night and I was a little kid.

Wow. This is VERY good for a system made way back in 1977. Almost feels like a 16-bit game. That game must be Atari 2600 at its absolute limit.

Wooow for 1982/1982, this game was really ahead of it’s time, even the atari 2600 versiob did had decent graphics with lot’s of animations in it and theres even some parallax scrolling in it and also the colors do look more vibrant, heck even the SEEMINGLY supermariobros didn’t had animated backgrounds or parallax scrolling despite running on a much more powerful system.
this game has amazing graphics features (scrolling parallax bg and side scrolling action), shifting intro screens and even a tune intro
I remember the last boulder being a lot bigger than that and I never could get by it

Not bad for the time but I liked Pitfall more since you can actually beat the game instead of it looping.

Lovely teenage game, my main hurdle was either the big boulder or the cannibal. The former I'd either jump over it or duck under it and hope for the best.

Best game made by Taito and ported by Atari on Atari 2600 (because Taito is the Japanese Atari), but still heavily primitive graphics

Never liked the Atari version. Jungle King at the arcade was one of my favorite games though.
I hated the 800XL version. IMO, it was harder than the 2600 version. I only rescued Lady Penelope once in the 800XL version, but that was all she wrote.
@@kenrutherford1109 it took me forever to realise holding up makes you jump higher. Then it became much easier.
I have for 5200 which I'm guessing is identical to the 800 ver.
@@Lightblue2222 I used that technique to help me jump over the large boulders, and it worked
Same. I had problems with the controls after the vines scene. I miss the transition from vines to river at the arcade.

I hAD THIS WHEN I WAS A......sorry for caps...anyway, I had this when I was a little guy. Loved it. Although, I don't remember it taking 2 min and 10 second to play through it.

My best is third level. And he more than doubled my score. So, yeah it's longplay. But there doesn't seem to be anything new in later rounds, like a monkey on the vine, or a guy throwing spears from next to the girl.
