  • This is the first part of a two-part series taking a deep dive into my Yoder pellet smoker. First up is maintenance - after a very busy late summer early fall, I take you through what I do to clean and maintain this smoker and tools and products I use to clean it.
Next episode: a full on, end to end product review after a busy spring, summer and fall of great cooks!

As one comment said, it's designed to have the stack down and the cover has a pocket so it fits properly. Couple tips: Soak that diffuser with some Pam or Canola spray and then run it for a few hours at 350-400 and that will get rid of the rust. Do this from time to time and keep it seasoned. Pick yourself up some ACF-50 and put a good coat of that all over and that will slow down the rust. Then after you re paint the front, give it a good coat and the rust wont come back. A few times a year is good. Happy smoking!

Thanks for watching! I checked and you are correct - from the Yoder site: "Front & Side Shelves Made from 7/16″
      Chrome-Plated Round Bar Steel"

They will eventually rust. I took mine to a local powder coating place and had them sanded and painted in a flat black. They look new years later! @@LastRequestBarbeque

I have noticed some rust spots, not too bad but that is a great idea for sure - thanks!@@billrector

flip your smoke chimney down so the cover fits better

That's a good idea....I guess I worry that messing with the screw that holds it in place will wear out....and I'm also kinda lazy ;-)

Don't let your cleaning fluids run down into your electronics.
