    5:29 and 6:09 are terrifying that the car can be moving at speed, make a sudden course change decision, and actually act on it in a way that would lead to an accident. We've seen this in the past with the car making last second course changes that the driver isn't ready for.

    • @nonconsensualopinion
      @nonconsensualopinion Год назад +2

      It's necessary. The car also has to act suddenly to avoid catastrophe, like moving out of the way of an errant vehicle, or braking for a sudden pedestrian. Sudden course changes are necessary for driving. This will always be the case.

    • @communityband1
      @communityband1 Год назад +1

      @@nonconsensualopinion No - did you look at the course changes it plotted? It plotted last second turns, both unexpected, unnecessary and dangerous. And it started to act on them. Those changes weren't necessary to avoid catastrophe. They would have created one.

    • @timepstein274
      @timepstein274 Год назад +1

      The car would have stopped in time or avoided any accident using both the occupancy network and then then the fallback collision avoidance mode.
      I agree completely that it's bad to plot what seems like a collision course with the "tentacle", but you also see every single blue object in the occupancy network that it must avoid, so worse case is that it would start to do the wrong thing then stop/avoid hitting anything.

    • @communityband1
      @communityband1 Год назад

      @@timepstein274 In these examples, there's nothing turning blue that indicates FSD sees something to avoid. That's true even when it moved the tentacle in front of oncoming traffic. Also, any action which seems to threaten an accident risks causing another driver to make a mistake that leads to an accident. This is something we often see people overlook when they wait to see how far FSD might test a creep limit, for example.

      The display on the HMI is NOT what all the neural net sees.

    @ 13:00 it would have been interesting to see how it handled the merge onto the Garden State Parkway or NJ Tpke (?). High-speed merges always tricky for FSD. While on the expwy, Is it ok/legal for FSD to stay in the left-most lane on the highway? Back in the day that was considered a passing lane. In some states it still is...not sure about Jersey.

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  Год назад

      It merges just fine now, if I didn't have the road rage behind me I would've let it go. It isn't legal but it's commonly practiced staying in the left lane for long distances as its still considered a passing lane. The rule is stay right except to pass.

    Nice video! I appreciate that you don't want to cause road rage, that's a good thing ;D! But just a PSA, the Tesla moving into the left lane to pass is good, but good highway courtesy is to have the left lane be a passing lane - and not just a 'fast lane'. So this means after you are done passing someone, get back over to the right so anyone who wants to go faster than you, can go and pass you on the left. I also understand you don't want to intervene with FSD when you don't need to so :( hard to say what to do.

    • @BlackTesla

    getting over into the shoulder to turn right is standard behavior in California, which is why I assume that it does it. In CA, the shoulder serves as sort of a right-turn lane. So, if you're stopped at a light, you'll often have people sneak by you on the shoulder to make a right-on-red.
