I like both electric cars and ICE type. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and that includes their carbon foot print and or how certain materials were extracted to make up parts of the car. Having said that, I think we have a use for both in the same world. Battery powered cars could be used for everyday usage and leave heavy hauling to diesel trucks. There is a reason why diesel is chosen over gas for heavy lifting. I don't think electric has a chance on long heavy hauls. Going up a 10-14% grade hill with heavy load, I'm sure the battery pack and or controller, would overheat in no time. For the diesel engine, that would just be a walk in the park. Where it might brake is anywhere behind the engine ie transmission, transfer case, differential gears etc. That's where the electric motor excels due to less amount of gears. Maybe have a diesel/electric assist long haul vehicle? Good video by the way. I'd like to own one but I'm done driving long distances. Managed to drive 30k km in 5 years. Also wouldn't like the assholes that love to key the electric cars, as seen on Wham Bam Tesla Cam channel. Why people would do shit like this?
Awesome video! I am just starting to get into Tesla and EVs and I haven’t developed quite an understanding in all the technical aspects of EVs. This video did an awesome job with helping me understand how this technology works. Keep up the good work! #teslagomars
simple, its a big battery that powers a dc motor that then drive the wheels. i dont know why people think its something amazing its not really anything new either.
@@Supraboyes I don't disagree with you, it isn't a relatively new technology. As someone with an engineering degree, this was a very informative video that helped me understand the technical aspects of this newly developed EV.
I like the black bonnet and how it flows through to the back. Is that a wrap you added? I have a red Model 3 coming and it also would look great in two-tone.
The chassis remains the weak point of Tesla against the competition. Very impressive straight line sprinting but I wouldn’t take the corners as fast as I would do in a Porsche or bmw like car with the best balance.
Great video! Just a minor correction @ 3:32 - the motors are permanent-magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), NOT permanent-magnet synchronous reluctance motors. Synchronous Reluctance (SR) motors do not have permanent-magnets.
My research shows they are IPM-SynRM and my terminology is correct. Have a link to a source disputing that? Thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video!
At the time when this video was posted, this car surely wasn't the fastest production car. The Rimac Nevera was and still is at the time of writing the comment. In some regions it even beat the Plaid in time to market - not in the US tough, it was not homologated in time.
@@joekinnn1703 Neither could the Plaid (be bought or driven in every country). The definition of production is that it can be bought homologated and driven on standard roads *somewhere* in the world. But I get what you mean, even Rimac did not declare being in full production until they entered the US market.

Why didn't they just name it Plain instead of Plaid? Plain would have been the perfect name for a car that looks so plain. A car that performs as good as this one should have looked like a super car and not a soccer moms taxi.
@@largenloud9744 Still looks like every other soccer mom car on the road and that was the point of my comment. Plain looking is what it is. Elons cars could use some style.
Cool video but you're such a fanboy dude... The lowest drag coeficient production car is actually the Lucid Air! Which BTW is also almost 100cv more powerful than the Plaid.
3:41 There's no such thing as a "Copper rotor" in electric motors... it's just silicone steel laminates. The problem that the carbon wrap addressed is that the rotor design incorporates a floating section of laminates directly above the "V" oriented pair of magnets, as seen in the picture at this time mark. This resulted in a motor that's not stable at high RPM. It was a design choice to maximize motor efficiency, but when the Plaid uses them, they flew apart at the high speeds required. BTW, neither is there a "metal sleeved rotor", as this would block the magnetic flux. (3:38)
This is a good catch and you are correct. At the time of publishing this video there was ambiguity around the motor materials as Elon put out a statement suggesting the rotor contained copper leading me to believe he knew something we didn't and it was some kind of novel integration. Upon destructive teardown by Munro and associates, watch “tesla plaid motor extravaganza” (great video) we could see that the rotor does not in fact contain any copper components. twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1404128430585618433?s=20&t=X6jR8ZfyQ_fU7eVMLKya3A IDK what do you make of his tweet

This is why Tesla needs no advertising, great vlog 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
wow.. this was the most informative vlog on tesla plaid I've heard to date.. thank you.
Can we just talk about how nice the model S plaid is the two tone is a 10/10 for sure
One of the best videos I’ve seen explaining the new Tesla Plaid enhancements. Currently driving a Model Y, but someday hope to comfortably afford an X Plaid. #TESLAGOMARS
@@Supraboyes Agreed, a friend drives a Sperry electric built in 1889.
@@wilkoone9155 good for him...wait a minute 🤔, are you implying this simple technology has been around so long.
@@Supraboyes I don't disagree with you, it isn't a relatively new technology. As someone with an engineering degree, this was a very informative video that helped me understand the technical aspects of this newly developed EV.
@@ElectricFuture cool tesla!
This is the best Plaid review on RUclips. Didn’t realize all the other for clout RUclipsrs are bad at reviews until watching yours.
Great video! I guess you need to take your "Plaid" to Germany. To do some proper speeding on the "autobahn" (highway), no speed limits here! 😀
Challenge accepted
I like the black bonnet and how it flows through to the back. Is that a wrap you added? I have a red Model 3 coming and it also would look great in two-tone.
The chassis remains the weak point of Tesla against the competition. Very impressive straight line sprinting but I wouldn’t take the corners as fast as I would do in a Porsche or bmw like car with the best balance.
it's almost twice the weight, it's not a chassis issue
Thank You for All that you are doing for World Peace and for our Planet...
Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Paz.. Namaste ..

I use to quarter mile race and that is very impressive ET. Even in a gas car that takes lots of engine to do so and lots to make hook up.
@Ron: Alright Torreto calm down.
@@ElectricFuture I stand corrected... I was aware of permanent-magnet assisted synchronous-reluctance machines, now reading-up on this design.
Great review!
Love Tesla!
No one can explain about Tesla car than you ! Never knew all about Tesla. Love it.
Great content, keep up the good work! 🙌
You do a really good job. Interesting and concise! I dig your review style. Thanks
At the time when this video was posted, this car surely wasn't the fastest production car. The Rimac Nevera was and still is at the time of writing the comment. In some regions it even beat the Plaid in time to market - not in the US tough, it was not homologated in time.
Quickest.
Production car means mass produced for sale to the public. Not sure that car qualifies. It could not even get 1 vehicle to every country in the World.
@@joekinnn1703 Neither could the Plaid (be bought or driven in every country). The definition of production is that it can be bought homologated and driven on standard roads *somewhere* in the world. But I get what you mean, even Rimac did not declare being in full production until they entered the US market.
@@marsovac i just noticed that price tag of $2.3 million. Definitely the fastest at draining your wallet. I may be wrong but isn't the Plaid supposed to be $135k?
Lol.. I have no idea on the specifics of all those tech details on this car and its engine but what I do know is that this looks amazing and this guy is revolutioning how 4 wheels move on the ground and might i add in the air too.. amazing video by the way..never knew that car packed all that stuff..truly revolutionary
That black and white tesla looks nice
Video outstanding quick n clearly followed along, nice
Lol @ Musk in the sky at 2:03
The Best Vid on Tesla , no doubt, thank you very much for your expertise and hard work.
Why didn't they just name it Plain instead of Plaid? Plain would have been the perfect name for a car that looks so plain. A car that performs as good as this one should have looked like a super car and not a soccer moms taxi.
Its referring to plaid mode from spaceballs. Go watch it lol
@@largenloud9744 Still looks like every other soccer mom car on the road and that was the point of my comment. Plain looking is what it is. Elons cars could use some style.
@@allanrose3661 I agree they’re pretty overhyped IMO
That Flo Home x5 looks amazing.
Cool video but you're such a fanboy dude... The lowest drag coeficient production car is actually the Lucid Air! Which BTW is also almost 100cv more powerful than the Plaid.
Great video 👍
Dope... new sub!
Your video is a masterpiece. Compliments. AND.... Great commercial for $TSLA
Amazing. It's too bad it'll never be allowed to run full speed.

Best free advertising so far, well done, tesla does not need to advertise, just needs to concentrate on the product, Elon is right!!!
Such awesome explanation, also handsome car, damn i have never seen such nice black and white contrast on a car, its so unique
Brilliant video! Very interesting. S looks superb in that Ska colour scheme too. :)
Nicest video on Tesla I have ever seen, thanks bro ❤️
great video. where do you buy that thing? it says it isnt released yet.
at @2:04, what is with the face in the upper right of the image?
I so want one.
The best information Ive seen on the 2022 model S Plaid,,thank you very much.
amazing video and details 👍
Watching Space Balls and hearing how the ship went plaid was just another reason why Musk is one cool ass dude 😎
great video! which song is that at 2:00?
Great explanation of what makes Plaid tick.
Have you guys ever heard of the Lucid Air Saphire?
yeah I drove an air dream, was amazing
What a superb video!!! Thanks for sharing 🚀
1:43 If you leave it lower down as long till it says Ready to launch the front won't lift up almost at all.
I followed a Red Tesla S Plaid from Lake Mary, Fl to The Sweetwater turn off SR 434 this evening! First one I have seen.
1:38 Holy crap. That thing sounds like the Tumbler Batmobile!
This presentation is as good as the car is....subscribed!
WOW!! Never thought about the night delivery option, but it makes perfect sense.
Nicely done👍👍👍
that paint job is sick!
The square steering wheel for tesla is perfect 👌😁 I know where can you get it at a great price
That was a wonderful summary of the Tesla Model S plaid. Well done. Thank you
I want script for this video...Please !!!! An optimum concoction of Marvel and Nat Geo Documentary.....Fun with Substance....Great Work
WooW .. u made me interested on a new tesla car ,, Thanks for the great video I enjoyed it all and it was helpful :D
