Uzin 888 is a great patch to use, I use a ton of it. Their self-leveling material is a good product as well. Ardex is a really good patch also. I've been to the ardex plant in Pennsylvania and went thru their certification process. Love your videos, keep up the great work!!
Will7311 S Thank you and I hope you have a good day at work and it’s actually 888 and I have just recently started using it because of the reasons listed and the video
@@floored3145 I've been laying floors for 30 years and have been on some pretty big jobs, one of them was 9 months long and have tried both ways of patching and seem to keep going back to the bucket because I can move around much faster because I'm bringing my patch with me as I go and not having to keep going back to the pile that was mixed up on the floor
@@fernando809able That depends on humidity temperature in a lot of factors. Do you have air moving to help it dry as long as you’re not blowing directly on it. About 45 minutes or longer
Thanks for all the videos, watching all the way from Australia. I wanted to ask what would happen if we skipped the sanding and reglued on top of the old glue, what would happen? Is it just a matter of saving money on glue or would it damage the end results? Thanks,
Saed Alzebdeh For carpet tile it would be just fine to go over the existing glue it would not have no chemical reaction, it was strictly to get rid of the old rich is from the existing glue , Thank you for watching and thank you for your comments
I would say you are doing a good job.I believe that I would skip the sanding if I could because you don't want to breathe the dust anymore then you have to.
Wajeeh Huweih You apply it on the floor to make the floor really smooth in order to glue the product down to so that it turns out nice and smooth looking, and the ratio is different per product
@@FloorsbySouthernboys Thank you. I also did my restroom with some vinyl sheet flooring with instructions from one of your videos. You good work. Thanks again!👍
I use ardex feather finish and mix it on the floor when I'm able to if not I use a regular "let's do it" orange home depot bucket and sanding is fun I throw a pack or two of ardex on the sander only when I use my bros sander

shawn moore Thank you, from what I’ve seen out of your comments You’re a pretty big time installer, so thank you for saying that I appreciate it
Do you need to skim coat over sealed concrete if installing carpet tiles?
Thanks man, great vid.
Optaseal is a miracle and time saver no more patching over the old glue
I’ve never heard of it , I will have to check on that
Great job mate.I use ardex or henry.Gotta try your 868.I love installing carpet tile.Off too work now.👍🏻✋🏻

Nice work! I always mix my mud on the floor with the trowel. Saves time . Looking forward to the carpet tile video!
jc86 Yeah I’ve seen people do it that way, to each their own I guess
Mixing patch on the floor doesn't save time, it isn't as mobile as being in a bucket and it can't be mixed as consistent as it can in a bucket
@@shawnmoore5621 Yes it is if you know what you're doing

Hey how long does it take to dry?

Keep the videos coming man!
BortLicensePlates You got it
How much do you charge for carpet squares if customers have glue and tiles on site
CarpetGuy 1970 Charge it just like regular commercial carpet
Very very nice video, I finally got some time to watch and it was very useful and well put together.
I learned a few new things also. Great work.

What is the main purpose of skim coating? What is the ratio of skim coat compound to the water.

How about carpet tiles on concrete and what kind of glue can I use?

Its just carpet tile..no sanding needed
That sander is sitting too long in my opinion
Dude why didn't you just sand the glue off? Plus if the customer is buying the glue you just wasted all that money and time on prep.
