    Sennelier are my favorite paints! I love how well they layer. I prefer to use a limited pallet of six colors; Indian Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Deep, Raw Sienna, Warm Sepia and Payne’s Grey. I use this pallet to paint landscapes.

    Three thing happened from this video. 1.) The French Vermilion called to me. 2.) I'm always looking for my favorite burnt sienna 3.) The caput mortum mixes were intriguing. So I ordered them. My first Sennelier ever.

      @stiviwonders  Год назад +1

      And from these three things, more watercolor adventures will take place! So excited for you! French Vermillion is unique to Sennelier so it is worth having. Burnt Sienna is a staple on my palette. Caput Mortuum is a favorite. In a few weeks, I'll have a Caput Mortuum-focused video. Hope that stirs further interest!

    I’m very tempted by the cerulean, and I’m surprised to be so taken by the Chinese orange and caput mortum. I’d been looking at ceruleans. I’ve got their Helios purple and the Billy Showell set of six primaries, and they’re lovely.

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  9 месяцев назад +1

      I completely understand that sentiment. It is easy for Sennelier to endear itself to watercolorists because they are in fact some of the most delightful artist quality paints to work with. Their Caput Mortum is one of the more sophisticated ones out there. I reach out for that or Della Magna's Caput Mortuum for paintings that require this pigment. It is also a fantastic mixer.

    Interesting nice video and product! I really wonder if Rose Dove might be the better option over Vermillion Red, compared in lightfastness I think so.. And do you prefer the Raw sienna over Yellow Ochre? Wondering what color you would replace with another if you would remake this curated palette Cerulean blue for example for Cobalt blue? The Quinacridone Red also looks very close to Sennelier Orange does this create room for replacement?! And if you could add 4 more colors to this palette what would those be? (after considering the previous questions) Thanks in advance!

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for watching! The answer to your questions can be summarized in a few words. It's relative. Most of the time, it is a matter of preference based on creative freedom. This palette was for a specific project. Knowledge on lightfastness is significant but it is not a determinant of superiority, whether one pigment is better than the other. If you have been watching my videos, you'll notice that I never use the words "compare" or "comparison" because these words take away the joy aspect out of painting. To address your inquiries, I generally embrace pigments that are closer to classical takes or have historical background so Vermilion is one of them. If you prefer Rose Dore Madder Lake (I believe that's what you meant and not Rose Dove), go for it. It is a gorgeous option! I have it too but I rarely use it. Quinacridone Red and Sennelier Orange do not share similarities at all. Not my favorite pigments though. I love Yellow Ochre so I would it to this list. The remaining three would be Permanent Alizarin Crimson Deep, Cobalt Blue, and Raw Umber. No need to replace, just add. Thank you for being here! ;-)

    Hello, i paint mostly with Rosa gallery watercolor, i have some Remrandt and Van Gogh in my pallette too, Sennelier is very expensive in my country and so easy to get, but i want to put them in my working pallette so looking for good lightfast tests, have you made one or maybe you can share your personal experience on long term use of this watercolor paints? Thanks forward, best wishes ❤️

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Год назад +1

      Hello, thank you for your message and for being here! Sennelier has an excellent history when it comes to pigment quality so I am confident that you'll love their watercolors' performance. In terms of lightfastness, the best way to look at this is not by brand but by pigment. Each pigment possesses unique properties so if cost is a concern, I recommend choosing a few complementing colors to start with and familiarize yourself with their lightfastness ratings before purchasing. I do plan to share the tests that I am doing on my website at some point.
