I'm pretty sure that the super silver and POSSIBLY, the black margins don't sunstress. There are quite a few hoyas that aren't sunstressable. I found that out the hard way too! 🤦‍♀️ Steve's Leaves and Unsolicited Plants have amazing care instructions for all of the plants they sell in the listing description and it will say if a hoya is sunstressable or not.

.. I'm not a fan of Hoyas with big leaves.. Still I've got a Hoya Pubicalyx 'Silver Splash', that I love.. She is in my bedroom window, west side, and seem to enjoying it all.. The window is a wee shaded by a mosquito net, that also protect a bit from the harsh sun rays in the afternoon.. And that seems to be perfect when they don't like direct sun, but prefer semi shade..
.. My Krohniana Super Silver who was nothing but a baby, 1 inch pot, when I first got her is my absolute favorite.. She was really cute and I had her on my plant shelf in front of my garden door, west side.. Only few months later, this spring, I moved her into my bedroom window, gave her a 2 inch pot, and a hanger.. Since then she's been growing like the devil was coming to get her, and her flowers are like magic.. The sweetest scent of vanilla, not very strong, but enough to have you puzzled if it really does smell of vanilla or not.. She is absolutely adorable, only now I have to figure out how to propagate her, as she really needs a "hair cut".. I can use the cuttings to fill out the other side of the pot..
.. The genus (Hoya) was named in modern latin in honor of English gardener and botanist Thomas Hoy who lived from 1750 to 1822..

Hey Andrea! I just had to break up and mini pot a Hoya compacta var. into mini pots for a plant swap last night. Loooots of work, mini roots 😅. But I had to due to that over drenched big box store soil 😂.

  • @Wubblyt

Hoya don’t have to be slow growers. I root in moss mixed with perlite, then transplant to tree fern fibre. The cuttings also need plenty of light (like morning sun or a growlight) and warmth. Keep the medium moist, don’t let it dry out completely.
Most Hoya cuttings will start growing vines and leaves for me within a month or 2. I have put a few Hoya in a soil mixture (cocopeat/moss/perlite) they are significantly slower in otherwise the same conditions.
(of course everyone has their preferred rooting method and for some moss just doesnt work)

Oh Hoyas 💚I recently purchased a Hindu rope.. which was on my wish list for a long time! Love it! Very succulent like. I also got the wayetti variegata, beautiful! I’ve had an australis for about 9 months and it was labeled a “fast grower” and I saw nothing and suddenly this summer it absolutely took off!! It’s like doubled in size! I’ve had a tricolor for the same time and it finally has a new teeny tiny leaf ! 😂 my Hoya wishlist consists of the retusa.. however if the stems are brown like you talked about I’ll probably go linearis. Love the Hoyas! 💚💚 beautiful collection Drea!

Let the hoyas stay in the same pot until they are completely root bound. Once they're root bound, they will bloom and stay in bloom for a long time. Hoyas don't like to be repotted so you might just want to pot that linearis cutting right now. 🤣🤣

I think the point around the confusion between krohniana and lacunosa is that, rather stupidly, growers gave the krohniana common names like 'Heart-Leafed lacunosa'. There's also a lacunosa with a cultivar name 'krohniana black'. I'm not surprised people mix up these two species.

First of all...I truly don't know why I'm just now asking this and not sure if I missed the answer on another video...where did the name "Aloha Plant Life" come from? You said something about you should know a name or something because of the name of your channel or something.
Secondly, I had the Australis Lisa (it didn't ship well so I only had it briefly) but I also do have and have had for a while, the green form Australis. To me, the leaves remind me a lot of a Pepperomia Obtusifolia in shape and size. I know a much more mature P.O. can get much larger leaves but if you've seen one in say a 4inch pot, those are the size leaves I'm referring to.
Thirdly, my Princess doesn't have huge leaves...they're pretty small in my opinion and has smaller than the leaves of my queen...but I feel like it could be a genetics thing that can vary plant to plant.
Next, I had the Callistophylla on my wish list for a while and finally got it earlier this year. I absolutely LOVE it! That said, I don't have a problem with larger leaves on hoyas and I love its prehistoric look and super veiny-ness.
Another hoya that I got earlier this year is the Parasitica Black Margin. I loooooove this thing! It grows like crazy! It gets a black margin on the outer edge if it gets enough light and it is super veiny and has vein "abs" lol. The leaves aren't huge and I don't think they get super huge but mine isn't super mature so I can't say for sure.
Also, my Pubicaliyx gets super splashy when it's getting decent lighting while a new leaf is coming in. Mine sun stresses to a pink on the splashy spots.
Lastly, girl! The Wilbur Graves is sooo on my wish list too!
    Thanks for another lovely video

I don't think there is an all green wayetii, only sheperdeii. I have a mature wayetii probably 4 x the size of yours in a 10.5 in hanging basket. It's huge and has layers and layers of leaves. It's goregeous! The leaves in good light develop maroon-brown leaf margins. Definitely provides much interest. The downside is the general absence of flowers but I don't even care.

I've sung lots of Latin in choirs.😅 I'm a native Dutch (Flemish variant) speaker, and I also speak French and German. The first part of the name seems German in origin to me, and that's how they'd pronounce it. So I might not be correct when it comes to American English pronunciation.

I bought all of mine locally at various different stores. None of them were shipped. They’ve all done well for me, but like I said in the video, some just grow faster than others. When it comes to small leaf Hoya, I feel like they start to grow more quickly than the larger leaf ones, so I am ok buying those as like 4 inch plants, but for the ones that are slightly larger leafed too very large leafed, I personally think it would be best to start with at least a 6 inch plant.

Caudata, Soidaoensis, Hanhiae, Mindorensis, Erythrina, Wayettii, all Khroniana and Lacunosa types, Memoria, Bella and Lockii all bloomed for me within the first year.
