      Its easy to fast forward to the time stamp where it starts but when I was brand new, the explanation was super important. I'm glad he does them. Its much easier to have it and skip forward than to have new people ask a bunch of questions. I definitely appreciate when people post the start stamps as well. Thanks.

    Psilocybe tampanensis is probably the rarest spore print I have. Its a child of the original spores collected in 1977 in Tampa and has only been found in the wild one other time 44 years later. Its a very rare psychedelic mushroom in the family Hymenogastraceae. Forms psychoactive truffle-like sclerotia that are known and sold under the nickname "philosopher's stones".

      I've got one of those. That's probably the rarest print I have, for all the reasons you stated. Sand it's definitely wild to think about how rare they must really be. Especially these days, since interest in mycology has exploded these last few years.
      But the Pan Cambo might be my favorite rare strain of my library. For very different reasons, but still a favorite.

    Here in Oregon -- specifically around the mouth of the Columbia River -- you might find _Ps cyanescence_ and _azurescens_ and _allenii_ and _semilanceata_ all fruiting _in the same couple acres_
    _Psilocybe azurescens_ is, without doubt, more potent than _Ps cyanescens_ -- no doubt whatsoever.
    ***update***
    And you can add _Psilocybe pelliculosa_ to that list for sure. And possibly even _Psilocybe ovoidiocystidiata,_ as those are becoming increasingly common in the PNW.

    I had spore prints, and spore syringes in the freezer for a few years, and they germinated very well. There was three strains of the " Unknown Cosmic Kind ". that colonized , and are growing well as I expand them to more jars to fruit them in substrate. Spores can survive deep space and make it to another planet to colonize there. I agree that Your temperature range might be ideal, but the freezer can store them much longer than the fridge. I have an Herb Seed Bank. Higher Heights Genetics Seeds. I store My seeds in the freezer and have a very high germination rate of over 90%. Try the freezer in an experiment and see for Yourself. Thanks for Your work, and knowledge Brother Willy. Respect

I was in Bali Indonesia in 1976 and went to the garden inn restaurant where they served omelets and bowls of soup (mushroom) I ate a bowl of soup and a 1/4 omelet on toast. We figured it was equal to about 13 dry grams. It's a STRAIN I BEEN WISHING FOR . Wish I knew that jungle strain. I ripped for at least 14 hours . Plz if possible we might research this strain and bring it to the light. It makes you (seriously) feel like a movie star !!! Like you are actually in the movie ! And that's putting it lightly... thx man... hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears. Peace brother. Thank you. Jeff

    Ill vouch for the freezer part. I bought a nice sized little "mini fridge" just to store my agar and syringes. Well I go to check my agar earlier and find the ones in rear closest to the top had ice on them.
    No worries, I caught in time. I moved everything around and turned the setting down a bit and from now on I'm keeping a better eye on things but the freezer is getting annoying. I have zero use for it at this point. Other than to quickly cool water bottles, I dont need it. I should have bought one of these fridges but the price was under $150 for roughly 2.7 or 3.7 qf of space. Im currently storing roughly 100 syringes, dozens of agar and coke/water/gardening seeds in a tupperware. Just gotta watch the freezer

You should also put a separate temp probe with alarm in there. I have 50 spore syringes in my collection now, and let me tell you that's a lot of money invested.

    The choice spore i would want to obtian for microscopic study is the AA+ "Albino" they are beautiful and an advanced strain of cube

  • @1N2themystic
    @1N2themystic 4 года назад

    A lot of these strains are available to buy from multiple online sources. I have only found one site that has the purple mystic and they are currently out of stock. I really want to get a hold of them.
    I have been researching mycology for around 7 years but I haven't lived alone for financial reasons. I'm finally moving into my own apartment in a couple weeks and I have the components for an 18"x24" flow box on the way. I bought four spore syringes (G.T.s, B+, Costa Rica, and South American, so I guess I am already starting my library. I wanted to start with some strains that grow nice big caps.) I'm SO looking forward to getting the first fruits. I plan to do rye grain and or wbs (depending on price and results) and monotubs. I found a good source of organic rye berries at $18 for 25 lb. at a local health food store which is by far cheaper than anything else I can see online. I'm just wondering if anyone with experience knows which is best for yeild and speed of colonization, etc.

      @@s7r49 ...not sure about the elephant gate, but if you look on r/sporetraders or r/mycobazzar there is bound to be someone who has them for study. I know for a fact that Allenni and Redboy are available. Not positive if they are available as prints but in some form. Your going to have a hard time finding EG from what I have read. I would like to know more about them. Are they a variation of the cube, or are they a different species?

    i think you are better off using stasis (castellani method), this way you can store genetics for decades at room temperature, even longer in a fridge.
    i first sterilized a 50ml distilled water vial.
    then put some agar wedges in it, shake the shit out of it and wait for a bit.
    after some point you'll have mycelium clouds.
    you can then put it in 3ml syringes.
    each syringes will be able to inoculate 60 plates and they'll stay viable for decades at room temp, prolly centuries in a fridge.

      Couple weeks would probably be fine.

    • @otacon1024
      @otacon1024 4 года назад +3

      You'll see wildly varying timeframes from different people (and it also depends on strain, medium etc), from weeks to years. Recently saw a guy grow out LC from a jar that just sat in a room-temperature closet for 5 years with no problems.
      But going by the "better safe than sorry" model, maybe keep them un-refrigerated for a few weeks max, and a year refrigerated. At that point, transfer to an agar dish, let it grow out a bit, then create new LC from new growth.

    Hello Willie, does the fridge generate any heat like the mini fridges we have known and loved?

    • @roberttomsiii3728
      @roberttomsiii3728 2 года назад

      Any fridge is going to put off heat. The cooling system is usually a heat pump. Colder inside by pumping the heat to the outside of the unit. Wine cooler is probably going to be a peltier cooler as they can be way more precise, like tenths of a degree, but are less efficient at cooling and more expensive to buy.
      They also cool the inside and throw heat outside though through a different mechanism.
