Well unfortunately, Nissan is known for other gremlins, and, NOT known for high mileage trouble free dependability, like Toyota! I think they will get the kinks worked out, and hopefully bring back the non turbo options in the very near future, it’s what the people want!!
I hope to never see that slow NA 3.6 or 4.0 again. They’re not as reliable as many make them out to be and can’t get out of their own way. These new 4cyl turbo hybrid tacomas make more power than the last Tundra V8 and get twice the fuel economy lol.

@jeanclaude7018 Don't know why they would say that. Especially the Japanese part. Some Tacomas were still made through 2021 in San Antonio. Then they all moved to Mexico making room for the new Sequoia alongside the Tundra.
Shame on Toyota of Japan and Toyota USA for letting this happen. Heads should roll. Complete overhaul of manufacturing processes should happen. But it won't happen. Absolutely unthinkable reliability and quality issues for this once legendary brand. This scenario is not unique to Toyota. Many manufacturers have this with new models yet we continue to buy them. Do you really want to roll the dice for reliability while spending over $50000.00 ? Read that statement again. And again. Do you as a consumer have that much money to be potentially throwing it away on junk? If you do, unfortunately you have more money than brains. If we as consumers just keep buying vehicles that are being manufactured as a disposable commodity by the manufacturers, they will never improve the quality of what they produce- never. Manufacturers count on the fact that most will buy a new car every few years so there is no need to build longevity into models. Good luck with any improvement in quality bc Americans are car crazy and always have to buy the latest and the greatest. I used to get really excited about new models. Now the only thing that comes to mind is '... I wonder how many issues this car is going to have ?' Good luck to anyone who buys a new Tacoma.
Needed to replace my 2001 Tacoma PreRunner. Test drove the 2.4L turbo Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier 3.8L V6. No contest, I bough the Nissan. Toyota was offering absolutely 0 incentives, Nissan had LOTS. Also, the Tacoma reliability issues were too worrisome. Sad that Toyota has finally gone the North American/domestic route in terms of high price and poor quality.
I love mine - I have this color but my interior is black / and fender guards are the same color as the truck. The nay sayers are just about $$$ - but they’re all expensive! It’s a gorgeous truck & I drove a 2019 and a 2022 preowned and hated the seats - I literally couldn’t sit in those for an hour………..The 2024 Seats are worth 10K😊
I would rather it have a 2.0 naturally aspirated 4cyl. With 150hp and a manual transmission with roll up windows and a basic screen for the back up camera and none of the unnecessary stuff.
reliability should have been their motto for decade's its why the brand was so popular someone realized if you mad vehicles that last and made them affordable people will love them and they didn but have now lost their way...The ONLY reason I keep picking toyota is for reliability I like the designs and prices of many other vehicles but dont buy them because I want my vehicles to work lol
I like the looks of the new Tacoma. That said, I’ll happily keep my 2016. It runs almost as good as the day I purchased it with cash. Never had a problem. I looked at the new ones, I looked at the sticker price. I immediately replaced my stock suspension, new brakes plugs and trans fluid and filter. Probably good for another 100K. I can afford any truck I want. I don’t however like feeling like a fool after I drive my new truck off the lot! I absolutely love passing by dealers with a glut of new trucks piling up on their lots.
There aren't many for sale where I live in North Florida. The reduction in sales is mostly due to Toyota ramping up production over the 1st half of the year, there simply weren't many available to sell during the 1st and 2nd quarters. Now that they are at full production sales are increasing drastically, as this video states at the beginning.
I purchased my 2006 Tacoma double cab for $26.5 out the door. I still drive it everyday 19 years later. The truck shown in the video is more than double the price. Of course the newer trucks have more modern conveniences, but that doesn’t make them worth double from what I paid. I recently went to a few Toyota dealerships because my girlfriend was looking to buy a new car. In January 2025 they still had dozens of 2024 Tacomas in stock and no one even looking at them.
what we all really want is a V8 Tacoma lol seriously, if they put in a good old reliable V8 in the tacoma and boosted its numbers they would FLY off the lots they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock...but EPA BS ruined that dream maybe forever..dudes like trucks, dudes like powerful, loud, and fast trucks, dudes like reliability thats why they like the tacoma it just makes sense...crap id even settle for a supercharged V6 to compete with the ranger raptor...
Cherry picked data, there was a slow roll out due to manufacturing ramp up in a new facility, go look at the monthly numbers, currently selling at a comparable pace on A monthly basis to last year. Whole lot of deliberate misinformation for clicks in this video.
Totally correct. In Denver you can't find one on the lot at a dealership. They are selling out faster than they can get them. I have one and love it! This FOOL and this channel is garbage. He rips on it yet he still paid a premium for it🤡. At least I can hit the "Don't recommend channel" and never see this garbage again!
@@jerplane400here in Georgia, there are tons on lots. Even the service manager where I bought my ‘17 TRD OR 4x4 V6 manual told me to stay the hell away from the new ones because of the transmission. I wanted to trade up, now I don’t know what to do.
@@christianbearden28 Thing about Toyota is the lean production. They find a problem, address it and the problem is fixed, production continues. @@markclark-u5b Every other generation of Tacomas have also had TSBs and recalls, Frame, rear leaf spring, rear axle, fuel pumps. I personally had the rear leaf springs in my 2nd gen Tacoma replaced for free by Toyota this year. Historically the V6 engines have had issues with the seals for ignition packs and water pump leaking as well. Does this make them Junk? What I am stating is that the above video is part of a trend of being alarmist for clicks and does not apply any critical thinking or statistical analysis. At this point the 4th Gen is simply too new to be calling this a crisis for the Tacoma with out more actual real world evidence. Go look at the final year end sales numbers (readily available online), they are on par with the Historical sales numbers. In a few years there will be actual data to determine if the 4th gen is an actual step down in quality. I would tend to think (based on Toyota's history) that the new trucks will be on par in terms of reliability with previous generations. I hope you have a good day.

Here in SD, dealers are easily adding $10K in markups for their tacomas, 4Runner and sequoias. Was in the market to buy a tacoma but gave up and bought the frontier pro4X V6 instead. Love the 6 cylinder engine and saved $20K + compared to the trailhunter.
Not a fan of the new Tacoma. If I was shopping this segment, I would purchase a Colorado Trail Boss or ZR2. At least GM's 2.7L has diesel-like torque and no hybrid complications.
JFC! $40k for a 4 door Tacoma with a breadbox bolted on the back? I'll be keeping my 2003 Tacoma EXcab, thank you very much. IMHO, it's probably the best truck Toyota's ever made.
Kudos to the new Tacomas Rivian looks and size (almost as big as F150). Why don’t you mention the Nissan Frontier? Out here in HOnolulu, a Toyota stronghold, it seems most of the new trucks driving around are Nissan. I paid $42K list price October 2022 for mid trim SV 4x4 with tech and convenience pkg and very happy with the V6 and quietness of the truck.
Toyota, please make the transmissions and diffs out of metal instead of paper mache, and also please put a na v6 back in instead of the turbo crapper. Until then you’re literally selling trucks for Nissan.
2016 Tacoma TRD SPORT, V6, silver, bought it new in December 2015. Have under 49,000 miles. Work from home, always garaged, no kids, no pets, never smoked in, not one door ding, no accidents, all scheduled maintenance done by Toyota, Fox front shocks that leveled it, blacked out badges, XD wheels, Nitto Grappler tires, step bar, tinted windows, bed cover, never towed, never off road. It looks new, drives new, no noises. Been great. I retired, considering getting new truck one last time as i get older, I'll considered selling it for $34,000. Located in KC. If you want a real quality truck totally taken care of I'd let you buy it and yes I'm asking for a lot because you're getting a perfect truck and it's not over $50k like you'll have to spend on a new one. And good luck finding one like mine for less.
I still can't believe how bad they screwed that tacoma up. Wheel offsets are horrible, Engine (no comment needed), panel gaps are bad and QC is gone. Seems like they built this truck for little kids to play on.
I had 2 of the V6 22's and now have the new one. The new one is simply miles better than the old one, especially the engine/trans combo, though I don't love the playskool interior.
No one makes the truck for me. I have a 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Offroad long bed. I tow a 3000 lb offroad camper. I've found the low payload and transmission/gearing to be big problems. I don't want a full size. I can live with a short bed. In the shopping process, I discovered that fold down rear seats that reveal a large flat area aren't commonly available. I need that, but now know that few offer it. Tacoma hasn't increased the payload. Colorado. Was ready to buy, but the rear seat is a deal killer. Nissan? It has lower payloads than the Tacoma. Ford? Back seat is possibly acceptable, but I hate their 4cyl motor. The new v6 is hard to find.
I had a 2005 Tacoma and a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport. I looked at the new Tacoma but decided to buy a 2024 Honda ridgeline Ridgeline Black Edition. It drives so much better, and the price cost less.
I have a 2025 Taco on order...and everyday I deal with thoughts of potentially cancelling. I'm nervous AF. Drove a couple GM twins, Canyon Denali and ZR2...I'm not overly impressed with them, the engine is loud and slow, quality seems akin to a "parts bin" truck. IDK. My old 2nd gen Tundra has been a FLAWLESS truck to own (except the gas mileage lol). Everything just sucks nowadays in the vehicle market
@@gregmyrland2515 nah, it’s too niche. Since Nissan cancelled the Titan…and with Nissan being in an alliance with Renault…I just don’t have good faith in the company. It’s not a solid company and who knows what the future holds for them…kinda like Stelantis but not as bad. Toyota on the other hand is not going anywhere or changing
Only issue with the new Tacoma is it is over priced and has gone down hill reliability wise. Nissan has the most reliable truck in the mid-size market. The Toyota Camry on the other hand is the most reliable vehicle on the market IMO:P
I’m currently on my second Tacoma with a 2010, I will not buy any new Tacoma again. To bad Toyota, I really hope you don’t go down the hole like the Big 3 American auto makers did.
So I wonder with Trump going to be in office soon and his promise to overall government if he will do so to the EPA and change CARF standards. This would allow manufacturers to return to putting V8's in full size pick ups and V6's in mid size pick ups. Might be the best thing for the auto industry and consumers.
Toyota owner for 40 years. This is like a bad divorce. Used to love them now they are having to many problems Think I will go for honda mazda or subaru now
Except this generation has internal bump stops with the aluminum top hats that will explode. Also no proper external trans intercooler. This isn't a new model issue. Just underbuilt design.
It's not new, but even German cars with their doubly absurd over-engineering don't tend to crash and burn this badly in the first model year. Multiple engine issues, now transmission issues, and I've even seen hybrid system issues in one of these with 6k miles. Honda has been going down this road for at least the past decade. Looks like it's Toyota's time now.
The Ford Ranger is a lot better option, also, US should have a diesel version just like here in Argentina, that would destroy the competition out there.
That backseat is still outright insulting. I was so thoroughly disappointed with the ‘24 release-coupled with the nosedive in powertrain quality, and no thanks.
@jeanclaude7018 I really don't know. I asked him if he needed help. He said help was on the way. I kept going, but he did have his hood up. I don't know if that means anything.

I had a 2005 Tacoma and a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport. I looked at the new Tacoma but decided to buy a 2024 Honda ridgeline Ridgeline Black Edition. It drives so much better, and the price cost less.
Want a Tacoma GOOD LUCK nobody selling the better generation tacos ❤❤❤❤
Only turbos, no thanks
No keyed ignition, no thanks
Electric parking brake, no thanks
But yet you bought one? why?
Toyota needs to keep that 4 cylinder...
I used to love Toyota trucks but that all changed in 2022. Why did they mess up such a good thing?
2021 fully loaded off-road long bed here, I wouldn’t even consider one of these high priced junk boxes.
Cancel the Taco and buy yourself, the Nissan Frontier. You'll be happier, down the road !!
Might want to test a Nissan Frontier.
Bought a 2024 SR5 4wd…great engine and transmission….no problems…love it! Fun to drive!
The reason im paying 7,500.00 for the car care nut to put in a new short block in my 2008 Taco.
Only issue with the new Tacoma is it is over priced and has gone down hill reliability wise. Nissan has the most reliable truck in the mid-size market. The Toyota Camry on the other hand is the most reliable vehicle on the market IMO:P
The Tacoma is overpriced now.
Pricing for this vehicle is so far off that there is no bang for the buck. That truck should be in the mid 30s, if that.
Sales are down because you couldn’t get one in the first quarter
We need the series 70
Could have bought any truck i wanted. I bought a '22 DCLB 4wd. Bomb proof.
Bow wow
Worst mistake I made was getting rid of my 2008 Tacoma with a 2.7 turbo
I bought the last $27k Tacoma Utility Package in ‘22. The dealer emails me every week wanting to buy to back FOR WHAT I PAID FOR IT. Crazy.
So they raised the Greed $20,000 and you want me to settle for 5% off , NOT
No way in hell would I pay for this overpriced now seemingly unreliable truck.
Toyota built a Tacoma NOBODY asked for.
Doubt it. Car manufacturers are looking about 7+ yrs out. Trump is a lame duck - last term. And oil companies are not building more refineries.
Toyota owner for 40 years. This is like a bad divorce. Used to love them now they are having to many problems
Think I will go for honda mazda or subaru now
Has anybody consider the absurd price hike for the reason
An all new powertrain & model having 1st year bugs is nothing new.
I’d buy a Gladiator Rubicon…it’s amazing
The Ford Ranger is a lot better option, also, US should have a diesel version just like here in Argentina, that would destroy the competition out there.
That backseat is still outright insulting. I was so thoroughly disappointed with the ‘24 release-coupled with the nosedive in powertrain quality, and no thanks.
Toyota had the market with their reliability and threw it all a way, great business plan NOT
I seen a 24 broke down in Mansfield, Texas, on the 19th on the side of the road.
@jeanclaude7018 I really don't know. I asked him if he needed help. He said help was on the way. I kept going, but he did have his hood up. I don't know if that means anything.
After a 2019, 2021, 2023 Tacoma, I now have a 2024 Colorado Trail Boss. Up your game Toyota. Do better.
Now that they're all equaly unreliable, I like the looks of the GMC Colorado the best.
It’s the first year so people could just be avoiding the first year of a new gen
$55k for a (top trim) midsized pickup truck? Yikes! That Toyota badging needs to be plated in gold to justify that kind of price in my opinion. 😬
I will keep my 2017 Tacoma.
55k is crazy I would rather use that as a down payment on something else
That cramped second row takes it out of consideration for me
10% discount while they raised prices 40% ? No thank you
They took the bump stops off the frame and gave been blowing out shocks and towers
