When made in texas, it was good. 17 bucks an hour for labor. Now made in Mexico with labor costs less than 3 bucks an hour. Price went up over 20% and reliability has dropped, go figure!
Except this generation has internal bump stops with the aluminum top hats that will explode. Also no proper external trans intercooler. This isn't a new model issue. Just underbuilt design.
This is exactly why I purchased my 2023 Tacoma Sport a year ago! $3000 off list and 4% loan. Baaaammmm!!!! 4 Cylinder?....4 Cylinder? I don't need no Stinkin..4 Cylinder!!
Shame on Toyota of Japan and Toyota USA for letting this happen. Heads should roll. Complete overhaul of manufacturing processes should happen. But it won't happen. Absolutely unthinkable reliability and quality issues for this once legendary brand. This scenario is not unique to Toyota. Many manufacturers have this with new models yet we continue to buy them. Do you really want to roll the dice for reliability while spending over $50000.00 ? Read that statement again. And again. Do you as a consumer have that much money to be potentially throwing it away on junk? If you do, unfortunately you have more money than brains. If we as consumers just keep buying vehicles that are being manufactured as a disposable commodity by the manufacturers, they will never improve the quality of what they produce- never. Manufacturers count on the fact that most will buy a new car every few years so there is no need to build longevity into models. Good luck with any improvement in quality bc Americans are car crazy and always have to buy the latest and the greatest. I used to get really excited about new models. Now the only thing that comes to mind is '... I wonder how many issues this car is going to have ?' Good luck to anyone who buys a new Tacoma.
That pricing is insane. I bought a 2021 Tacoma SR5 4x4 V6 for $33k new. The TRD Off Road was $37k. I thought the pricing was still high back then. Looks like they're following Fords footsteps, which isn't working out for Ford in the least.
It’s because they are not built in Japan anymore. A good example is the Lexus RX300 and NX300. After shifting manufacturing to Ontario, Canada in 2022 you see so many of them on the used market. Dealer told me it’s because they are lease returns which is total nonsense as all leases are sold on a three year lease plan.
They will sell; no problem. See more and more of them on the road. People just don’t give a rip about long-term reliability in our disposable/throwaway culture. 🤷♂️😳
They won't and aren't selling, that's why so many are sitting on the dealership lots. Until they come off the price , people are gonna spend their hard earned money elsewhere. If someone is gonna spend $55k for a truck, they'll just get a full sized for that price with better options. This truck should be in the mid 40's range and it would sell like hotcakes. Nice truck, just not worth the price tag.
@ 100% agree on all your valid points. After test driving a premium trd off-road fourth gen Tacoma, I know I made an intelligent and morally correct decision to retain my 2022 Tacoma trd pro (bought and paid for) for the long haul.
@@deantrainr You will definitely be happy with your 2022 until Toyota works out the kinks in the 4th gen, in the meantime, yours will hold it's value. I originally looked at the 2024 TRD Pro but couldn't justify the $65k price tag and the ride quality just wasn't there for what I was looking for. I ended up getting a 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X fully loaded with every option for $45k out the door and couldn't be happier. Wish Toyota would've stuck with the V6, it was/is bulletproof, and if the price was more in line with the Frontier, I may have gotten it instead.
@@DouglasB65 Smart decision on your part getting a Nissan frontier and after test driving the fourth gen Tacoma, it’s just cheaper overall and I won’t be willing to wait for Toyota to work the bugs out of the fourth gen Tacoma. My old first gen Tacoma, I got over 24 years on and hopefully will be able to do the same with my third gen Tacoma.
misread the video thumbnail as tacoman in trouble. glad tacoman is all right. sale problems with tacomas are partly due to rampant catalytic converter thefts especially in big cities. no one wants a vehicle targetted like that that costs a lot of money to replace and weeks to wait for the part. some of the thieves are even armed.
the outgoing gen3 TRD pro was $52k. This model you show here is a TRD off road with options for $55. Then the Gen 4 TRD Pro is $68k? They are all overpriced. Though I would love a manual one... with a V6.
I have been a Toyota guy for over 15 years, got a new Tacoma every 3 years, between the price and reliability issues I most likely be going Ford this time. Real shame.
My 2019 Tacoma has been rock solid. I’m keeping it!
At 200,000 miles it'll be more valuable than a new one.
I love my 2024 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport 😍
I seen a 24 broke down in Mansfield, Texas, on the 19th on the side of the road.
When made in texas, it was good. 17 bucks an hour for labor. Now made in Mexico with labor costs less than 3 bucks an hour. Price went up over 20% and reliability has dropped, go figure!
They've been built in Mexico for decades. My 2008 was and it's awesome. Everyone loves second gens
For a time there were Tacoma's built in Mexico as well as San Antonio
You can't mention a $400 per month without mentioning how much down would be required. There are two numbers to that equation.
An all new powertrain & model having 1st year bugs is nothing new.
Except this generation has internal bump stops with the aluminum top hats that will explode. Also no proper external trans intercooler. This isn't a new model issue. Just underbuilt design.
I've been seeing a lot more new nissan frontiers here than 2024 tacoma's in texas it's insane.
I have a 22 and it's bullet proof. If I were in the market for a new truck it would like be the frontier instead of the 4th hen tacoma
I've owned 3 previous generation Tacoma's for my plumbing business but I wouldn't buy the new one.
Nobody wants this stupid, overly complex, overpriced "truck."
It’s not a Tacoma. It’s something completely different with a Tacoma badge slapped on it.
Actually there are great lease deals on it.
Stupid, no. Overpriced, yes.
This is exactly why I purchased my 2023 Tacoma Sport a year ago! $3000 off list and 4% loan. Baaaammmm!!!! 4 Cylinder?....4 Cylinder? I don't need no Stinkin..4 Cylinder!!
That blue color, definitely worth $10k extra.

Lol cold plunge here in brokenfridge is just fill the tub with cold domestic water... Its usually 45 degrees out of the tap!
Lol
%25 chicken tax
Bring back a naturally aspirated engine option
Here in Puerto Rico the Toyota dealers want 85k for TRD model. Are they crazy?
No, they're scumbags.
Which page is showing us the percentage of tacomas issues?
How many tacomas transmisión been replacing?
I’m considering a new Tacoma if I can find a two Xtra cab which has been different so far in my area.

Purchased a 24 4runner TRD Pro 8 months ago and it blue books for what i paid. I wont buy anything with all this mew tech
Good for you!

Even 15% off is not enough
Got my 23 Taco before the crappy turbo.

Yea that’s an issue but that is not something that affects sales lol.
😃
Drop a V8 into the Tacoma, and watch it sell!
It's a no brainer, it's the $$$$$$$ Besides that, trucks are no longer a status item.
Nissan Frontier
Reputation damage to this legend?=priceless (worth far more than just an 8-10% discount for someone willing to roll-the-dice)
Yup I won't buy one .
They took the build quality techniques
From Ford and GM Silverados and such.

JUNK!
I'll keep my 2001 GMC s15 w/265k miles

Darn. Toyota shouldve kept the trucks as non hybrids
Beds way too small. 😢
Toyota went woke now going broke.
All new trucks just absolutely suck…
The Tacoma is overpriced now.
No way in hell would I pay for this overpriced now seemingly unreliable truck.
Tacos are ugly vehicles.
Styling is subjective.
