I love my RG556, ordered it a week after release via Anbernic’s AliExpress page and it arrived in five days for £121 with free shipping. It’s amazing at PS2, 3DS, Wii… even Vita when the emulator is refined enough… and on that OLED screen in such a lightweight space… exceptional.
I've been stuck for months on figuring out what my first modern handheld should be. I couldn't decide between the Nintendo Switch OLED, the Anbernic RG556, and the AYN Odin 2. Thanks to this video, I've finally decided on getting the AYN Odin 2. After watching countless videos and reading a ton online, no one has explained things the way you have in this video. Specifically what you said @ 7:12. Thank you so very much. Liked & Subscribed. ✌️👽💕
This was so helpful in validating the same experience that I had. It’s a great beginner console, but ultimately I just want a little more power out of the unit. Opting to return mine back and wait to hear about the Odin mini.
You’re almost right in a lot of areas but For someone like me who was getting their first handheld that’s what made this the best first choice. It can do all systems fine and with comfort! I no longer have to buy 6 devices to play certain consoles. I wanted 3DS and DS and the RP4pro did that poorly since the screen was so tiny. Plus all the cramping is not worth it.
"Master of none", I don't agree with that. The 556 is the most awesome general purpose retro gaming machine that perfectly plays anything below GC and PS2 with an unmatched screen and good enough controls. It also plays most of PS2 and GC reasonably well. I'd recommend it as a comfortable machine to play older retro games.
Good viewpoint (that this is a jack of all trades, master of none device.) The screen quality of the 556 is punching WAY above it's weight class.....but it's controls are lacking and the processor (T620) is not a big enough jump from the previous generation T618 to open up any more avenues that you could not do with something like an RP3+....Only way to solve the control and processor issue and still have a decent screen would be going to an Odin2....If you go chasing the dragon for a better processor and controls In the same price range as the 556, you are going to get a screen that is not even in the same universe as the 556. It is a really weird issue to have....and makes the 556 a really interesting device. If the 556 had came out with the same processor as the RP4 pro.....at the same pricepoint, with good sticks.....could you imagine?
RG556 Rocks! I got switch so don’t need to emulate that. Love OLED on 556. Use it mainly for waverace bluestorm on GameCube, Tony Hawk 3 PS2 and cave shumps. Plays the games perfectly and is so comfy hold. N that screen makes games look amazing.
My favorite games on this so far were unexpected but Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on the Wii and Black Ops on the Wii. Played some RPGs as well but man is this thing nice for fps games
I also wonder about the old rg353m still costing 125€.. shouldn't the older ones get price slashes to clean stock,? The more they stay in shelves, the less probability they get to be sold
This is my third Anbernic and I feel it does everything I need it to do. Yes I do have to tweak some of the games to smooth them out but that’s part of the fun with emulation. You can’t beat that screen. One thing I’d like to touch on is Switch emulation. Every time I hear that I’m puzzled by it. Switch is a current system and isn’t that expensive. Why bother emulating it? There’s nothing there I absolutely need to pirate. Yes, u know that’s why most would want to emulate it because let’s be honest it’s not that great of a system besides its portability. Just buy a switch.
I love my RG556 but have to disagree with this video for a couple of reasons. 1) This is not the perfect device for a newcomer, it's got a reputation for needing to tinker with per game settings to get the most out of it for Gamecube and PS2, that's too much for many newcomers. It's actually one of the very best devices for an experienced tinkerer. 2) It's not a jack of all trades, master of none. It's the undisputed champion in an important category - the experience of actually playing the games. It has a WAY better screen than just about any other android handheld out there, and it's famous for being one of the most ergonomic, comfortable handhelds money can buy. Those 2 attributes combined makes for an unrivalled gaming experience on android. Other devices can play switch games etc, but anything that can be played on the RG556, will give you the best experience on the RG556. And it can play a lot of games! It's already upscaling nearly everything in the Gamecube and PS2 library. How many PS2 and Gamecube games can be played on an Odin 2, but not an RG556? Probably less than 10 out of their entire game libraries combined. Seriously, it's that few. Even double that number would still be nothing. The only thing more power would give the RG556 is the ability to play switch games. Literally everything else that it's possible to emulate on android, works great on the RG556.
Got this just to game psp and ps2 games. Not really sure why anyone would want to play mario on this. There are waaay cheaper options if anyone is looking to do nes crap... What "one particular thing" is it good at? PS1, PS2, and PSP...wide screen and a perfectly placed joystick! 🔼🟨🟣❌
I like that you have concentrated on running ps2, and ns64 game play. I ordered one, it nice that you showed these

Glad I could help!

This is nice display and pretty clear resolution for games

I ordered these for PS2, PSP, Gamecube portable gaming. These will be added to my active stable of 3DS XL, R36S, ROG Ally, RG350M, Switch :D

Can you hook up two wire or Bluetooth controllers to it?

Anyone tried android gaming like is it compatible with Fortnite, Diablo, etc...?
ps2 was rough on this ngl, 3ds is ok but a lot of graphic lag, switch unplayable imo, terrible
I was dragon ball z fighter pants on suyu what emu u using
@@TAY_UPNEXT yuzu
Its not the best in performance and built in quality but has the best screen!
The OLED screen at that price is great. Would love an Odin 2 with an OLED though
Only a You-tuber would say these things.. YOU HAVE TOO MANY HANDHELDS AND HAVE LOST ALL OBJECTIVITY...ALL IN THE NAME OF CONTENT!!
