Little hidden fakt. In the Bartzilla stage when you climb up that building 13:43 there is sometimes someone throwing a sega genesis out the window, but in the genesis version they are throwing a snes out the window. It's those little hidden things that make me happy :-)
That look of pure shock on Lisa's face when you get the A+ ending, you know she was just waiting for the opportunity to scowl at you! 😂
You must admit, Bart's Nightmare is EXACTLY what the title claims it to be.
Nah, they'd have to call it The Player's Nightmare for it to be perfectly accurate.
The weird part is that I remember this game being terrible back in the day as a kid and I still played the Hell out of it. I guess it was just because we didn't have any other alternatives for entertainment that particular weekend. The 90s were not all pastel colors and vaporwave, kids.
Absolutely legendary, one of the most notorious blends of pure frustration and fun from our child hoods. Rock on forever Mike!

Man baby gaming is a whole corporation now. Crying about game from 1995 is like a career path.
I had this on SNES as a kid because my parents know I liked the Simpsons. But this game is just all sorts of difficult.
I actually really loved this game when I was young, my brother beat it but I never understood but still had so much fun, I don't think I ever got one page if I did it was the super bart one. Other than that I always died but had fun with it.

Loved this game growing up never beat the 2nd India jones stage. Two things I noticed u didn’t do was when you’re on the streets jump over the basketball to get the skateboard which makes the Z bar grow and the other thing is when the bullies are walking with you burp with the milkshake and the paper appears. Great to watch you play this gem and relive hours of my childhood keep it up!
I rented this back in the day! I’m glad to see it really was confusing and hard, and I wasn’t just terrible at it.
The Bartman Segment truly feels like a game, the best of all Mini-Games that is.

I told you the last time you played this game that if anyone can beat it, you could, because that’s what Mike Matei does, beats hard games. E.g. this and Silver Surfer and Ghosts and Goblins. Congrats!

I Loved the Bart's Nightmare arc of the Mike Matei Live anime.
It might be one of the best. The current Pokeymans arc is good but not as top tier as the Bart's Nightmare.
Was reading a walkthrough today for this, trying to find a good strategy for the Temple of Maggie (for which it was not helpful). What WAS helpful was where it suggested to walk along the street's broken yellow line to avoid many hazards (including buses). The core benefit of this, however, was that TVs appear MUCH more frequently when you do this, something like 5 TVs/minute the guide cites, which can be used to expedite getting pages if you have watermelon seeds on hand.
Can confirm this completed this game multiple times

The temple of maggie for me was the hardest. Insanely difficult
Maggie hinders Bart by firing the pacifier at him,the devil comes at you from all angles plus you have to memorize or/and take note of the correct platform to jump on.

I started playing Bart's Nightmare and have beaten it too many times. I wish he could see some comments that I leave.
Also, destroying the TV with a watermelon pit makes a page appear ONE TIME. Destroying the TV gives ONE free page. Destroying it a second time or more does not do anything.

In the Indiana Jones thing you have to take care to push down some of the blocks as you go, as it pushes up other blocks elsewhere.
True and try get eggs but not go out of your way for them and be ready to whip the blue devils

The speed runner are basically game bullies and Mike Matei is an underdog. We cheer his victories because his victories are uncertain.
This was developed by Sculptured Software which became Iguana West and then Acclaim Salt Lake City before Acclaim closed the studio in 2002. It's interesting to note the games designer Bill Williams, who designed early Atari games and Necromancer for PC, left the gaming industry because of company meddling during production of this. He died from Cystic Fibrosis in 1998.

I played this as a Kid. I won a Bart Simpson prize package from the local Fox station that had a Shirt and some other stuff in it, and it was the Coolest thing in like 1990 to get as a Child. I played most of the Simspons games, and I could never figure them out. Cryptic is the best word that I can find to describe them. Mike Rules!

I watched the James and Mike episode first. And by finally watching this oh my God is painful! I mean technically you never die and keep living in limbo until you beat all the shitty minigames. This game is cruel.
Ha, nice job. I rented this game several times as a little kid, and I remember it being ball breakingly hard. I think it's a very cool concept for a game and it's pleasant to look at, it's just lacking in execution. Some explanation on all the cryptic crap in the overworld would be immensely helpful. I never knew about the bubblegum or pillow tricks, and the best I ever got was a C.
I'm not sure if you knew this, but you can shoot the watermelon seeds at The Bullies, Skinner, and the Old Lady to make them go away.

This game was like a bad acid trip as a kid
I very rarely watch full playthroughs of anything, but I'm actually very nostalgic about this game. Had it as a kid and of course never beat it. But consistently tried. Even again as an adult I revisited it with slightly better results. So it's a incredible (and hilarious) sight for me to see Mike run through this game.

I loved this game. Friend had it and I just had to rent it. But I only really liked the stage where you threw tomatoes at people.
Im pretty sure that is Virtual Bart and the tomato part was my favorite as well.

I rented this a few times from the videostore when I was a kid and I was super confused. I always wanted to just play the godzilla stage, but I never got to it.
