This movie makes me cry. I remember wrestling with my older brother when we were in elementary, he kick me in the face and saw my tooth fly out my mouth. My mother was furious and scolded us while my dad was laughing out load. Good old memories.
So do i ,what a shitty ass ending to ruin the movie lol no way tommy loses to a beat up barley standing guy who hasn't even done any real training in years can have the only chin in the whole world to be able to take Tommy powerful punches that he just laid out stronger n bigger dudes with one shot hits this bitch over n over n nothing happens except he starts talking better than he did in the whole movie.yeah i cry to great movie just won't watch last 15min of it
Perfect example on how love conquers all fears, anger, rage, sadness, arrogance and many more things that block our eyes from seeing the real thing we can all Ofer in life for free. Love this movie, because in the end they were all 3 champions in life.
@robertahli3738 you're wrong...strength alone fades but love is enduring. Love feeds strength. Mental power is just as susceptible to love. Love can make an intelligent person into a witless zombie. Love is truly the most powerful emotion out there.
OMGosh... Tom Hardy is one of the most versatile actors out there. He is amazing. I spent 12 years involved in MMA (before cages!) and would have been cheering him on to the trophy.
The hell you talking about, "before cages"!? Even the first multi-discipline combat sport, called "CV" I think, had cages back in the 80's! K-1 doesn't have cages, but they're more kickboxing than true MMA.
When Brenden says "I popped his shoulder" he sounds sorry like he didn't want to do it. The sad part is no matter what Tommy says to his brother he always cares for him.
One of my favorite movies ever. Nick Nolte in the drunk scene is incredible. Tom Hardy impressed the hell out of me in his acting as well as his physical transformation. I'm not a MMA fan but they had me sold the brothers were fighters.
this movie always makes me cry, to me it represents the duality of man, trying so so hard to be strong and overcome it all, never wanting to accept loss, but it will come inevitably and theres nothing wrong with that
Fighting his inner demons through defeating his opponents one by one, receiving his anger and inner pain. Until he came accross his brother, who was the only one able to absorve all the rage and with his love heal him. The arena was a puglatory where Tommy's soul was cleansed. The fight between the brothers also impacted their father who was responsible for the whole situation. His wounds too were partially healed after the match. As they say.... tears are the blood of the soul.
People hated on this movie, especially people who actually practice mma. But the story and acting was great. One of the only 2 and a half hour movies I’ll watch multiple times all the way through
The song played was very emotional and always make me remember love ❤️ is the greatest, no matter your anger, when you are loved, you will be calm! Thanks for sharing this 🙌
ladies, men crying for movies likes this, especially this masterpiece! unfortunately no lady will read that comment! - the final fight and its end always make me crying. what f****ing good movie. Hardy really deserves an oscar for that
yeah well, I see what you mean but this film is about family. What was Tommy fighting for? The promise? he could still keep his promise to take care of his teammate's family. But Brendan had no choices, mate. and at the very end, Tommy tapped out after Brendan say "sorry" meant he accepted the brother and father that he walked away few years ago.
Man what a fantastic movie Though I think Tommy should have won especially since Brendan was already hurt but I get emotionally Tommy defeated himself in a way. All that rage he was able to blow through others but when it came to someone he loved, no matter how angry he couldn't fully unleash it. Its like he could run straight through the others but with Brendan it was like climbing a mountain, no matter how hard he tried to push that emotion was blocking him. One thing I wish they added at the end in writing as they were walking together is how Brendan visited Tommy in military prison (cause it was mentioned he was a deserter) very day until his release, and he took half of his winnings to Tommy's friends widow. I mean that was the whole reason Tommy was fighting in the first place.
He wasn’t a full deserter. I don’t think he went to MP either . It was said that he was on his way out of country , but he saw people about to die , so he left his unit and saved them .
So much more than merely a fight movie, this is the tale of estrangement and reconciliation in a broken family, masterfully told. The final scene is so bittersweet.
Makes you think how strong love is no matter how dark you are how much of a bad life you had love can make all the pain and suffering you went thru to away
Yes. My only criticism to this movie is that they nerfed Tommy WAY too much on the last fight. We have to suspend our disbelief a lot for that to work.
Something I like about this films are little details: Sparta is a privately funded tournament, so that’s why Tommy could get away with walking out of the cage before he is announced as the winner or continuing to fight with a dislocated shoulder. Some MMA friends of mine found those parts unrealistic until I pointed out those details since if you did that on the big mma leagues they would fine you bare minimum. At worst they would ban you from future fights. Or in the instance of the dislocated shoulder they would end the match no matter how bad the fighter wanted to continue. But it works in the films setting.
Tommy won other fights so fast and easy but against his brother he didn't show all his power and furious I believe he could beat him in 1st round but doesn't want to hurt his brother Very sensitive final, Great movie and of course incredible performance from Tom Hardy the black horse acter in whole Hollywood
I have a older half brother of only a year & 4 months older than me , growing up we lived in different parts of town , my brother lived in one of the toughest places in town not to far away from me , he didn’t have are father in his life every day like I had growing up . When I was 13 & he was 14 he ended up moving in with me my mom & are dad & that’s because he all most killed himself with drugs & alcohol so my dad took him in & that didn’t last long when he & my dad bumped heads 2 years later growing up him & my dad didn’t see eye to eye & both him & my dad burned bridges with each other along the way , 15 years later I myself burned a bridge with my dad that still stands today , to me my father died back in 2002 even tho he’s still alive & I rather not have anything to do with him just because of how he treats people he can’t get along with . Now that my brother is older now my dad has a healthy relationship with my older brother & I,m the one that doesn’t , I told my brother over the phone back in 2013 that if he wants that relationship with are dad , he can have him , & that I had him growing up & he didn’t & so if he wanted him he could have him , now the tables have turned & it’s for the best of all of us . I tended to stay away from my older brother however I am cordial with him & I don’t tell him to much about any of my business & he the same with me & I think that’s how we both like are relationship now that we’re older . Are dad is in his 70s & both of us are in are 50s , I live about 190 miles away from my brother , he lives in another state , are dad lives in another state altogether ,from me about 800 miles & my brother about 500 miles away & that’s the way we like it I guess .
I remember when I was 18 years old and I grabbed a 35-year-old giant while playing soccer... my cousin told me that he was proud of me because no one in the neighborhood stood up to him. I spent 10 minutes fighting with him. I ended with a bruise on one eye.😂
Tuned that champ up. Didnt take brother down right away. Give bro credit👏 . Broken/dislocated arm? Ref should have "called it". Bad Ref😡 This is the whole movie. Dont need to watch anything else.
honestly its tommy's fault for going to the ground knowing full well his brother is a submission specialist if he kept the battle on the feet he probably wouldve won, besides 75% of the time strong grapplers would win against strong strikers
This reminds me of my older brother and I, I kicked his ass every time he challenged me. Then one day… he proved his worth and never again did we fight like that. But dad was nowhere in the picture. He hates our father, but I had a different heart as you can tell.
I fought my brother in boxing match for charity in front of a few hundred people 1st round, and everyone was cheering go james go and my brother just stood there for a few seconds looking around it broke my heart seeing his face like that I let him piece me up for the remaining 2 rounds..

Tom Hardy is off the charts as an actor. On a scale of 1 to 10 he is a 15 in this movie. He is brutal and scary as an actor and as a fighter.

Yeah having him lose ruined it for me.love the movie but they really screwed the movie up with that ending
There’s no way the smaller brother would e won in real life.
