Its a little cake of the jaw harp history - specially in the USA . But one day i make a longer video about the eurasian origin of this instrument :) thank you!
I started listening to Jean Shepherd (Shep) on WOR radio in NYC in 1969. He would play the jewsharp along with the kazoo and noseflute to accompany music he played on the radio. When I was in Baldwin Music store to buy a box of clarinet reeds in the early 1970s I saw a display of jews harps and bought one. I’ve been playing the jewsharp since then. And my ears always perk up when I hear one in a commercial or in a song or TV show or movie. RIP K2ORS (SK).
I came back for another watch, your playing on this video, and the music you chose are excellent! Also at timestamp 2:56 I believe, there is an illustration (is it a postage stamp?) of a double tongued harp - I just realized I own this harp the drawing is based on! It is a P. Jones double tongued harp - P. Jones was an English maker in the 19th century. It's very good quality !

@@xiongnukhanate794 Every nation thinks the jaw harp is from their culture, but its not so easy to say. The oldest türkic jaw harp what was found in Altai, its 1700 years old, i was make a bamboo replica of this instrument: ruclips.net/video/X3rlDkK4lbo/видео.html&feature=share also the Slavic and germanic people have very old jaw harp traditions. Ahogy a videó címében is szerepel, Doromb az USA történelmében - a kolonizációt követően kikerült az Új Világba is a hangszer. Ezt járja körbe a videó. A pentaton egy hangsor melynek különböző variációit használják az egész világban, egymástól független népcsoportok. Nemtudom ez most hogy jön ide.
Had no idea it is in The Revenant (2015) movie!!
I didn't realize country songs could be jaw harped into trance. You have such amazing transitions when you go faster.
The opening piece reminds me of early Kraftwerk
Great video.
Thank you! :)
Great to know the history of this amazing instrument. I’m learning too 🙏🏼

Great video! In country music, one of my favorites from the 1920s was the Pickard Family.
best jaw harp sound i've heard so far
Huge job. Thank you. I myself also tried to play in the country style. The video is on the channel.

That Spanish dub of Rio Lobo was absolutely awful.
Thats portuguese, but awful either
to origin is actually mongol and turkic
The steel version yes! But the oldest types are from Papua New Guinea and Indo-China.
@@ETstudio1 and the oldest types how old are they bc the turkic and mongol types are thousands of years old like 10.000bc before.
