I loved the couple with the guy who said he loved looking at his wife without having to talk about work or anything else. That made me cry. You can tell how much he loves her. So powerful!
Omg i know its awkward but i felt so calm when the couples start to look into each other eyes this feeling is so relaxing and it doesn't have anything to do with me but feels good 💗
The old couple literally almost made me bawl my eyes out. Sometimes I feel like marriage isn't real. I have lived my life around broken marriages & relationships so I forget that it is possible to find someone who is truly meant for you & to stay with them till death.
It's awesome that you found that again to be a reality! I've been married for 8 years! & i love it. It will be tough. It's 2 persons trying to be 1. All in all I'd have it no other way! She's not my best friend....she's my Wife! Better than ANY best friend. Once a person decided to marry their best friend it's officially called Wife or Husband.
I think they really care about each other, they just don't know how to express it. Which is something I see more often in elderly couples. Saying that she only looks into his eyes to check his bloodsugar DOES means she cares about him and wants him to be healthy. Why would you otherwise check someones eyes to make sure he doesn't has an hypo/hyper attack? The problem with being so long together is you get used to each other and take each other for granted. A sit down an talking like they had here (or staring) can make you appreciate each other
SoulPancake If this is the study by Dr Arthur Aron, there are 36 questions the participants are supposed to ask each other before staring into each other's eyes for 4 minutes. The questions are designed specifically to deepen connections and feelings towards one another, romantic or otherwise. It would be awesome if you did a separate video where the participants test out the questions, or even one with the questions and the staring :)
Honestly the best part about this for me is how you can see the different stages of intimacy happening as time goes on. When they start, they find it uncomfortable, strange, and even try not to laugh. But by the time they reached the end they look completely entranced in the other person. They're able to keep a straight face and stay quiet, without breaking the eye contact. It's incredible to me, and I hope one day I can experience a moment of connection like this and FEEL it. 💙
"Looking at at you, I realize how much I need you." That made me cry because i'm a women with a lot of feelings lol and also, because I feel that way about my boyfriend and my friends and my family. People need other people, whether you're driving each other crazy and making each other inconceivably happy. You need them. All you need is love.
This small video just grew my heart 3 sizes bigger! Eye contact is a huge thing for me. I have an eye turn (or lazy eye), and I used to get teased about it a lot. As a result, I conditioned myself not to look directly into anyone's eyes. Slowly I am growing out of that instinct, but after seeing this video I will be more intentional with my eye contact. It was truly beautiful to witness the couples truly SEE each other. It's pretty cliche, but I guess the eyes really are the window to the soul. And mine were pretty watery after watching this. Thanks a lot Soul Pancake. No really, thanks a lot! You guys add so much value to my life!
Wow! Thank you for sharing this. We are so glad this video has given you that perspective, and your appreciation means a lot to us too! Good luck with your new intentions.
I have a lazy eye too and I;m very insecure about it. Eye contact is a big challenge for me because sometimes when I look at a person, they look around them trying to figure out what I'm looking at. I know they aren't doing it on purpose but seeing them do that always reminds me that I have a problem. So I tend not to make eye contact, still have that instinct to look away and I don't know how to change it >.
I don't know if it helps or not, but most folks are just trying to figure out where to direct their attention. If you can give them a cue by looking steadily at them through one eye for a bit people won't bumble around and make you uncomfortable when it's the last thing they want.
A performance artist named Marina Abramovich did this. People lined up to look her in the eyes for as long as they can and it had the same effect. People started crying. Perhaps the eyes are truly the windows to the soul. :')
Oh, thats right! I saw that it was on netflix streaming in the us. The part with her former partner, wow. They'd met earlier that day, but still, sitting down? Multitudes in that gaze.
Mangatique Miko some people can sense more emotions and thoughts than others. Like empaths or whatever. I have definitely made prolonged eye contact with someone and felt pain and suffering from them. It was slightly uncomfortable but I could also see trust in her eyes. Hard to explain
SoulPancake, you've outdone yourself. There was so much emotion in this that I found myself crying from happiness just by watching the silent love between these beautiful souls. Thank you!
The eyes are the mirror of the soul. Sometimes they can hypnotize, sometimes take control. Eyes reflect the inner world of someone. Wether they are spiritual, worldly, in love, or like fun. When eyes are bright, clear and they shine, the heart is pure and clean. When they are dark, empty, and cold the person is distant and mean. So, always look inside someone eyes and see if you can make a connection. If you want to ignore someone, or show affection.

Watching them connect made me cry tears of happiness. I once got my two young men children to do an experiment with me. They were 18 and 22 years of age at the time. We sat across from each other and just looked into each others eyes for two solid minutes. No talking. We had always been a close family. But after this we became much closer. As a person who once used to be so full of life and the center of attention, I now deal with extreme anxiety in any social setting and avoid being around people due to many inside and outside factors BUT watching these videos on this channel and others has made me very appreciative and feel more connected especially in a time where we ALL are consumed with our phones & the internet in which we feel like we have access to so much yet its all limited interaction and socially akward connections.... We need this!! i need this.... It CHALLENGES us to engange in something more deeper than a profile, a tweet and even deeper into our own insecurities as individuals collectively
The man and woman with the kid - I could feel their chemistry. This whole video made me tear up. Connecting to someone with your eyes only is a pretty powerful thing.
I think this may be one of the most powerful things I've ever seen. You can see so much of a persons life from their eyes. They tell stories otherwise unseen.

I often watch videos like this to gain insight into humanity. And every time I do, I leave disappointed...with more questions than answers. The people in these videos, much like many of the people in these comments, only reaffirm my already dwindling hope in humanity, and the sheer magnitude of human among the earth, further extinguish my fire. They only document how alone, isolated, lost and without purpose we are as an entity. Brings to light a question I have sought the answer to for over a decade now. What are people thinking? What is going through a "normal" human's brain? Because it is drastically different than what is in mine. How do you live with someone 50 years, and never see them? Then what is marriage built on? A script, and playbook, dependence, obligation, tradition or in more common words, just because??? This is the bain of my existence... I'm too aware of the world, to thrive in the world.
Yes, the world is corrupt and broken, but you have to oversee that. You have to trust, not search for, that there's good in this world. After Dawn your the creep here haha stalking my channel and posting my url....pretty sick. People should be more worried about you instead. Get a life loser
Last year, I was in a directing class and used this process to help two of my actors who were not romantically inclined towards each other to connect. It worked very well! Lots of laughs! Thank you!
I had social anxiety as well but I overcame this with the help of a therapist. we talked a lot and she pushed me to ask "embarrassing" questions to strangers (I had to ask where the next super market was while standing in front of it), ask strangers about the time or just ask them how to get some where. It really helped and i'm glad I did it! :)
madison dragotta have you seen the artist Marina Abramovic The Artist is Present video in which she and complete strangers stared at one another? It's profoundly moving. I think crying is a fundamentally human response in so many ways here ❤
Because humans and all life is connected and we hate without realizing it and our subconscious soul whatever you want to call it knows we feel deeply for all humans
that old couple is actually EVERYTHING I want in a relationship. the man was so funny and he kept joking around and the way he talked about his wife made me so warm inside lol idk
I like how some try not to smile but fail but i specialy like that you could see the love of one person to another just by how they look in their eyes.
The senior citizen couple was my favorite reaction, especially the husband's answer. He made me cry. After 55 yrs of marriage their love stood the test of time. It was so nice to their faces brighten up when they started to dance, it was just, simply beautiful.
Forever grateful for Rainn Wilson and his team for producing this type of content, it's so beautiful to capture these moments. Such wholesome, heartwarming stuff 💘
I talked with my husband online and on the phone for 7 months before meeting him in person. We fell in love before we were able to stare into each other's eyes. When we did for the first time it was at a kitchen table playing Scrabble. I can't describe the feeling I had looking into his big blue eyes. It was something I never felt before and it was so deep in my heart. We've been married for two years now and have a 7 month old son who has those big blue eyes. If I did this experiment with my husband today it would bring me back to that first time. Thinking about it makes me want to cry.
I just starting tearing up like a maniac in the middle of the video.... I just think of all their history together and their love for each other and actually appreciate what they have infront of them. So emotional for me
I don't know why but I cried even before they related how they felt after the time was up. Just watching people stare continuously into each other's eyes brought tears into my own :) Just beautiful!
I love this! I've been with my wonderful husband for 17 years now and we're still working on eye contact like this. I wish the title of this video was something like 'How to increase intimacy' or something like that. It would be helpful when sharing this video if it didn't say 'how to connect with anyone'. With that title most people won't realize this is something for couples trying to increase their intimacy within a relationship.
This is something I'd love to do and to do with someone I want to know more with. Eyes as the window of one soul tells so many things that words are not enough to explain it all. Bravo!
😢 What the elderly woman said hit me straight to the heart like a lot of couples even when they love each other to death don't know how to enjoy the simplest things together we care too much about the perfect dates and the perfect weddings and the perfect sex and the perfect family but we don't care enough about nurturing our souls and connecting on a higher level with our other half and the person we could be spending the rest of our lives with we're fucking human beings but we still suck at being human We care too much about superficial things and about what's considered weird or normal and what's considered right or wrong, we're afraid to show love cuz we're afraid to be seen as crazy or weak or to be taken for granted but one day we'll grow old and wish we could go back in time and do all the things that people would call weird and crazy for. And don't let anyone fool you Ego is toxic you can be a kind loving human being and still be strong, strength for me is defined by how brave and free a person is, if you're so afraid of what people think of you and afraid to be seen as "weak" then you're most likely a weak person but you're not afraid of what anyone thinks of you then you're definitely a strong person
This theory works. I'm an actor and we do exercises like this all the time. I won't ever work with a scene partner if we don't do this exercise. It gets through all the awkwardness, gets through the walls we constantly have up to protect ourselves in our everyday lives.
This is nice video staring each other. I couldn't stop my tears falling from my eyes of the beautiful couple who married for 55 years. This video make each couple realize how they need and love each other.

So all I have to do is awkwardly stare at someone for 4 minutes and we'll fall in love? Dope.
It might be a little more complicated than that, but reading the article we put in the description is a good place to start. :)
SoulPancake nah, I like my way better.

After Dawn yeah he's been creeping... he also sent me a private message saying "hey Abby not gonna make it weird like some of these dudes so hit me up sometime on my channel or on google plus if you ever wanna chit chat hottie =) peace"
And yeah I'm a minor. Almost 18 lol
After Dawn I don't care. Do whatever you want
After Dawn hah yeah I have been ignoring him for the most part. I'm going to continue to do so. Being called pretty over the internet is one thing but what he's doing is a whole different thing. Hopefully he will realize
After Dawn your the creep here haha stalking my channel and posting my url....pretty sick. People should be more worried about you instead. Get a life loser
you probably have an attractive male in mind. yeah that's right I'm a psychic
Last year, I was in a directing class and used this process to help two of my actors who were not romantically inclined towards each other to connect. It worked very well! Lots of laughs! Thank you!
that old couple got me in my damn feelings
1:50 that guy looks like a fuckin' wood elf from Skyrim.
Lmao true
LOL
***** Y'know it's funny when you rocket snots

...Anything wrong with Wood elfs, Imperial?
With my social anxiety I would be TERRIFIED
Dude, I have a terrible social anxiety and I have done this with like 10 people, guys and girls for 1 minute each in a row. It was crazy.
Zheeph Woah, really? Do tell?
Zheeph Yes! Do tell!
Zheeph ***** Thank you, both, for your input
Ugh... now I'm crying
Remember: It's not a staring contest, you are allowed to blink. ;)
Me too!!!
not just you
me too...
same here!!!
i have a feeling if i participated in this theory i would cry within those 4 minutes and i cant figure out why
Human connection can be an incredibly moving and tear-inducing thing!
It is a melancholy.
A sadness of the indulgent kind.
It tears you apart but you
Crave more.It's beautiful and
Mysterious but dangerous nonetheless.
madison dragotta I cried watching it...in a happy way.
madison dragotta have you seen the artist Marina Abramovic The Artist is Present video in which she and complete strangers stared at one another? It's profoundly moving. I think crying is a fundamentally human response in so many ways here ❤
Because humans and all life is connected and we hate without realizing it and our subconscious soul whatever you want to call it knows we feel deeply for all humans
that old couple is actually EVERYTHING I want in a relationship. the man was so funny and he kept joking around and the way he talked about his wife made me so warm inside lol idk
This was so beautiful and moving. And I gotta say it - girl in beanie, DAMN.
I like how some try not to smile but fail but i specialy like that you could see the love of one person to another just by how they look in their eyes.
The older couple was soooo adorable! Life goals right there
The senior citizen couple was my favorite reaction, especially the husband's answer. He made me cry. After 55 yrs of marriage their love stood the test of time. It was so nice to their faces brighten up when they started to dance, it was just, simply beautiful.
I thought that was Greg from Nigahiga
He does look alot like Greg haha
OMG SAME XD
Yep...I mean how many people have got that same damn mustache? xD
sherif hesham xD
Same I clicked on this cause I thought it was Greg but good vid anyways
Why was i smiling all the way through?! :)
me too :)
Same here.. 😊
You weren't alone. :)
because you saw the love, honey. i was smiling too. it made me feel better.
Totally had a stupid grin on my face the whole time.
I could never do this, if i look in someones eyes i tear up and people may think its awkward
CalmGameshow I do the same sometimes
HOW CUTE IS THE ELDERLY COUPLE!
Forever grateful for Rainn Wilson and his team for producing this type of content, it's so beautiful to capture these moments. Such wholesome, heartwarming stuff 💘
The elderly couple were so cute to me when I first saw them (55 year couple) "I should have went pee first"😂😂
Oh my goodness...The couple married 55 years... the couple married 2 years... So wonderful to see true love still exist.
That older couple had me in tears lol. I hope they're able to continue living a long and healthy life together.
The black guy was the best, he made me the happiest out of all of them :)
"I realized how much I need you"😭😭😭😭and when the elderly couple started dancing..ugh too much on my heart😭😭💙
moving. absolutely moving.
ilove ur channel girl
"I should have peed first" lmaoo seriously XD they were so funny, truly a touching video!
omg the old couple!!!!
Thinking about it makes me want to cry.
nayzany OMG 😲!!
❤️💘❤️💘❤️
This is so, so BEAUTIFUL❣️
Congratulations on your gorgeous little family sweetheart. And go you-look at you sexy mama!😍
I just starting tearing up like a maniac in the middle of the video.... I just think of all their history together and their love for each other and actually appreciate what they have infront of them. So emotional for me
What the old men said to his wife after the 4 min made me cry like a baby
Oh my gosh the guy with the grey beanie had the cutest smile ever I just wanted to jump through the screen and hug him
I actually think that it's a girl.....
Anna-Maria Helou lmao still, that smile kills
+Sleeping Pi11s Yup!! Agreed
***** Possibly... welp, we can't check for ourselves!
I'm pretty sure the person in the gray beanie is transitioning and would prefer to be called a man....
Someone plz tell me it's Greg, Ryan Higa's crew!!!! Anyway, this video is just awesome ^^
I guess, yes
no, it' not...but I was thinking the same thing :D
only reason this vid caught my eye XD
No he isn't Greg lol. But I thought so too! Greg's moustache looks better tho. xD
im not the only one
3:53 i never comment but this phrase released the tear I've been containing omg
I teared up! What a powerful lesson/reminder of how simple it is to connect with another soul. Beautiful!
I don't know why but I cried even before they related how they felt after the time was up. Just watching people stare continuously into each other's eyes brought tears into my own :) Just beautiful!
The Album Leaf - the light
Osama Gamal Thank you!!!!!
the older couple
I really hate humans but this was just amazing to watch
yeh mahhn those damn humans
#fuckhumans
#JeSuisHumans
Dude..you're human...😂😂😂
Courtney Renee sure lol
That breathing movement @ 2:50 ... Says so much!
Bravo!
I cried so badd this is beautiful
Easily one of my favorite videos on youtube.
3:41 YES! Just staring, or sitting or being in the same space without talking about nonsense is so refreshing.
This is amazing. Thank you for this SoulPancake.
thank YOU for watching!
2:02 he looks so in love I can't
that guy's from buzzfeed?
This theory works. I'm an actor and we do exercises like this all the time. I won't ever work with a scene partner if we don't do this exercise. It gets through all the awkwardness, gets through the walls we constantly have up to protect ourselves in our everyday lives.
the couple that have been married 55 years honestly brought tears to my eyes! so sweet!
I'm so emotional over this... I love it.
I'm crying because of the simple beauty of this video its so god damn beaitiful
Step 1: Buy the grandest mustache you can find on ebay
i cried so much..its crazy how you can see the love they all have for each other. just beautiful
This is nice video staring each other. I couldn't stop my tears falling from my eyes of the beautiful couple who married for 55 years. This video make each couple realize how they need and love each other.
"without discussing work...business...and situations" XD
Just stare the people you love as long as you can, cos you may not see them forever, life is short!
"I should've peed first" 😂😂 I'm crying bruh
that is so cute hahaha
This is REALLY REALLY GREAT! I did this once in a yoga workshop - complete stranger- it turned my day completely around - all for the absolute best!!
I'm going home and going to look into the eyes of my wife, son and daughter. True connection.
The old couple got me good....crying,
