    Was very glad to hear that part about going back to KSP 1. The release of the KSP 2 early access is what got me to start playing KSP 1 again and I've only now just stumbled across you're channel which is strange because I've been looking for a good KSP 1 channel ever since Scott Manly stopped making KSP videos and while there are plenty of KSP RUclipsrs out there none of them seemed to be able to fill his shoes but yours are quite good.

    Thanks Mike for the video, I really appreciate you taking all the time to fly to the moon and back. The game looks stunning, but it's so incomplete and buggy, it's indeed not worth the price yet at all. It all depends on the definition of "early access" of course, but they kinda promised the early access would have ksp1 with renewed graphics and ui and then they would roadmap the rest. It's just that some of the most basic things just don't work. An orbit that changes itself, maneuver tool that doesn't predict right, flow priority that doesn't work, wobbly rockets once you go a little bigger, staging not always working. Which means that if you don't quicksave every few minutes, it will only give a lot of frustration. Besides that no science, no heating, no electricity, missing values that are required to go to other planets like visible periapsis or trajectory... I think the UI is less obvious than in ksp 1 but I guess that just takes some adjusting.
    I really looked forward to this game, and it has potential, but to me it seems that it will take almost a year before we get anything worth playing at this rate. This isn't early access, this is an alpha or early beta release and you don't charge people 50€/$ for that. You open it up for the weekend so people can test it out, and then go back to developing with the feedback.
    Let's hope the future will bring a great game, and that people don't lose interest after this early release of an unplayable game.

    You probably already know this by now, but two things: 1) The countdown is from 10 in "Kerbin" language. If you listen it sounds like a bit like Spanish. I.e., 8/ocho sounds a bit like "oko". 6 and 7 have enough similarity to it as well. When it gets down to 1, it is DEFINITELY "uno". 2) You're right, the throttle is definitely twitchy when pusing shift and ctrl; but you can manage it better using the mouse to grab the throttle.
    Love your video!!

    I think the app/per are changing because the ship is using rcs to maneuver to keep your "lock on X" which is changing your velocity/vector. I'll bet you money on that. (Notice the numbers only change when you are locked on a direction. Time warp "unlocks" you...)

    I just brought it up for the first time on my laptop running an NVidia GTX 1070, and an Intel Core i7. WOW!!!! The difference between how it runs on my laptop from how it runs on my desktop is like the difference between night and day!!!! I am only running it in 1980x1020 with ALL settings set to low, but it RAN!!!! My desktop was running it at only about a frame per second, but the laptop seemed to be running at at least 20-35 FPS. It was SMOOTH!!! My desktop is running an AMD Radeon RX56 Vega. That was a great card when I got it (it ran the HD version of SKYRIM!!!) but it's obviously not as great as I thought it was. My laptop is a year older and runs KSP2 FAR better.

    Mike, this is an awesome "Live Stream". It's too bad you couldn't get it working. I have to say, after seeing many ppl doing live streams of KSP2, the game is REALLY buggy and not really stable enough to live stream right now. I bought it even though I only have a GTX 1660, but it still plays pretty good when set on the LOW graphics settings. I'm going to be upgrading my rig soon, so hopefully the Dev's will get right on fixing some of these bugs soon. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that had the 2.5 meter decoupler stick to the poodle engine. I liked your solution. I used the 2.5 stack separator instead and that fixed my issue. Anyway, I look forward to more of your KSP1 content! You rock! Keep up the great videos!

However, any altitude at the Mun below 30 is problematic. I usually set an orbit around 30-35 for Pe and Ap. I remember KSP 1 you could do around 10 or just over. Maybe they'll fix that here.

    Mike!!!! Glad to see this!!! I gave them my $50 (I was sitting at my computer waiting for the 8a.m. hour here in the central time zone) and started the download before I went to work. It completed about three and a half hours later and was ready when I got home. I played with it a bit, but I'm playing it on an AMD Radeon RX56 Vega which is below even their lowest standard so it's barely playable. But I've got the game and it will be there ready to go when I upgrade my card, whenever that happens. I did load up the rover and took it for a tour of the space center a few days ago. That was fun. I'm about to try building a mun rocket and seeing how it works out. Happy flying (and CRASHING too!!!!). ********** Additional********** WOW!!!! Yeah, I've just confirmed it. I'm getting about a frame per second. For anyone who is on the fence and actually wants to run this you need a fairly recent vid card. Scott Manley was running an NVidia GeForce 3070 in his first vid and he said it was fine (that's a standard 3070, NOT a ti). Mike, what vid card are you running here? Thanks.

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  Год назад

    • @charlesballard5251
      @charlesballard5251 Год назад

      @@MikeAben Yeah, I'm not upgrading anytime soon. Right now I watch every penny. If the crypto-market would soar I might be able to spend some money on a new card (new computer?!?!!?!?). But right now I'm waiting to see what the coming months bring from the developers. If they can get things flowing smoother and I can get a few more fps out of it it might be playable on my machine. Right now... I try moving the camera and instead of being smooth it's jerking around and flipping from one side of the craft to the other. I never thought I'd see a game run so poorly again. I mean this happened with "X-Wing" on my 100mhz Pentium machine running a Number Nine Corp GXE64 PRO card over a quarter century ago. I couldn't run that until I upgraded to a 166mhz PII with a... you know I can't even remember what it was. I had a dual card setup, one for standard graphics and a 3D accelerator card. I want to say one of them was a Voodoo, or maybe a Voodoo II. I want to say the other card was a Matrox Millenium. I think that would have been the only dual card system I ever had. After that the tech had advanced to the point that a single card was capable of handling standard and 3D. "The more things change, the more they stay the same".

    One thing i really miss in both KSP 1 and now in KSP 2 (or maybe just don't find it?!) is to group or merge multiple parts into one, like for example you made a wing from many little pieces and ailerons and all and if you have to move the whole thing, all those parts should be in a "group".

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  Год назад +1

      You can do that in both games. In KSP1 it's called a subassembly, while in KSP2 you save groups of parts in different workspaces and then merge the workspaces.

    Your video was excellent as always Mike, but so far KSP2 just doesn't impress me.
    Sure, it looks good, and the engine sounds are a big improvement on KSP1, the music sounds great, but I just don't see enough to spend £45 to upgrade from KSP1.
    And speaking of KSP1, it's nice to see they've kept it alive in the new game, the Ap and Pe changing for no reason goes right the way back to the KSP 1.0 Demo version! Have you tried building a tiny Munar lander with the extra small legs yet? In KSP1, those kegs were prone to bouncing off the surface of the Mun and Minmus when you jumped to them, a problem that had been ongoing from the first day those legs appeared, and they never fixed it (my greatest peeve of KSP), I wonder if they've left it in KSP2?
    For all my criticism of the game, I really did enjoy watching you setting out on your first Munar mission in the new game, now go feed that cat!

    I love KSP for for the math and exploration, so I'm going to sit on the buying-now side of the do-or-don't debate and see how things go. I'll be trying some Kerbin satellites and manned orbits over the next few days.
    That said, I'm disappointed to see that the graphics really aren't much better than a modded KSP. I was really expecting cities and some on-planet activity to make the world feel more alive.
    And that Manoeveur Node system and readouts? That's awful, and we shouldn't even be in a 0.1.x release with apoapsis and periapsis not locking when no thrust is applied. The node planning tool itself seems just generations behind some of the best KSP mods, and learnings should have been taken from them. Add in no easy by-stage TWR in the VAB (so really, am I going to need an Engineering mod again just to get numbers?) and this feels really early.
    Let's hope we see significant, step-changes over the next few patches, because this game is not going to be getting anywhere close to playable and fun without that level of commitment and effort.
