Hi Sandy👍 I bought an all black pair of the Notiv8 two weeks ago to replace my Salomon Quest Gore Tex from c'2018. Very disappointed in the Salomon, having owned GTX shoes since the early '90s. Perhaps they moved production as the drop in quality and longevity was noticeable.... Anyway! My Nortiv8 were comfortable from the off and I'm delighted. So a big thanks for a detailed review👌😎👏

I have 3 pairs of Nortiv8 (Mid Ankle Mountaineering model) and have had great luck with them. I don't participate in "Mountaineering", that is just the model name of the boots. I believe that they are very comfortable and very well made, and waterproof so far. I am pretty certain that you will get great results with yours too. I know that there are few better individuals out there that will give them a better test than you will. Thanks for testing them and sharing your opinion my friend. If I was an older person Bry I wouldn't be able to manage them, they both pull so hard especially when heading out, don't pull much on the return journey though.
Carmen is excellent off lead, always stays close and comes when called, the other article is off like a shot if she slips her lead and only comes back when she is completely knackered. Both have turned out to be beautiful loving dogs though, I wouldn't be without them:)

To stop my hound from pulling I use a Halti and seems to do the trick. And as she likes to roam, I invested in a Tractive device to go on her collar. Can highly recommend it. Gives me peace of mind when she’s running around in the woods and undergrowth.

I’m pretty sure they don’t make boots like they used to. I bought a pair of Lowa Alpspitz climbing boots in 1965 and wore them for thirty years. I had them resolved in 1980, completely re-sewn and soles again in 1991 after burning the stitching out of them walking through the aftermath of a forest fire. Hot ashes and leather boots don’t go well together. On the other hand I have heard that the modern Lowa boots wear out a lot sooner. I’d like to give the Armadillos a try. Nice review. I notice that Mr. Kent Survival is also trying out the Armadillos.

It is hard to tell the difference between many boots made today. Most are made in China where they glue them together. The outsoles are usually from Vibram or similar. The midsoles tend to include a nylon or steel shank. And it seems most have cheap removable insoles. The trick is to find boots that fit correctly, are matched for the conditions, and can accept custom insoles.
