Mad respect to Kacey for being willing to try a hallucinogen and being able to craft the theme of an album out of it. On top of that she's willing to be transparent about the fact that she even used the drug in society where it is taboo and often demonized. Love her.
If you like trippy things. She does a lot of vocals on the latest flaming lips album. She had one track on there where she’s just harmonizing. It’s nice
My favorite set of lyrics is the “Bar down the street don’t close for an hour” - makes me think of late-July Daylight savings evenings. I can smell that walk through the flowers. 🌅
Axe man Kacey should release the (actual trippy) version the producers were gonna go with, as a bonus track or something. Love this song, but a lusher, more exotic arrangement would push it further from country and lead to more 'alternative' crossover success.
The first time I heard this tune I got chills and I’ve been trying to figure out why it feels like something from the past and when Kacey said it felt a little like Neil Young it all made sense. That is exactly the vibe the song has.
country music used to be about being a rebel against social norms which is why artists like Johnny Cash were so successful. Country music recently has become very confirmative and a lot of it sounds the same or talks about the same things. Kacey may not have too much of a different sound but her music is more creative. Her lyrics and subject matter also differ a lot more to the modern country music. I mean listen to ‘Follow your arrow’ that was a complete rebellious act for a country artist to do but it was against the genre itself. I know tons of people hate country music cause they look at the surface but deep down there’s some amazing artists and history to it. I’ve always loved artists like Johnny Cash but artists like Kacey are making me give it more of a chance.
I love this song, but I'd reallyyyy love to hear the asian influenced crazier version, I hope it gets released somehow. It's good as it is, but that just feels next level.
I literally just got into Kacey yesterday and I'm already obsessed. Her and Maren Morris forces you to love country music, which I usually don't listen to.
Absolutely can't get enough of kacey. There are weeks at a time i cant get enough of a country artist, these weeks of course its kacey. This past year the artists that ive been stuck on listenibg over and over listened to these songs in my car From jan to dec '18 in order Blake I'll name the dogs, at the house, kane brown - Heaven, maren morris elton johns tribute song she sang & rich, luke combs Beautiful Crazy, dan & shay - tequila , speechless, keith Urban coming home & parallel, Florida Georgia Line - meant to be & simple, kacey musgraves- slow burn, happy & sad, space cowboy. Country is awesome so many different styles of country i love it.
This is the only song I've heard of Musgrave's and now want to check out her other stuff. I'm not a country music fan, and this makes me want to find other artists like her. Most of these goofy, good ol' boy country singers are so boring, it's a turn off.
When I first heard this song about over a year ago, being that this was the first song on the track, I immediately feel in loove with it. This song can take you to a whole other place. Even more magical in concert.
Saw her sing this on SNL and loved it immediately. GREAT song - and album too, for that matter. I love her voice in the wide open space of the reverb - so beautiful! Oh yeah, and she's gorgeous. :-D
This is to conclude that her whole album is actually the best album to get you grounded! Just enjoying the moment in bliss and in gratitude. i love Kacey
Slow is fast and fast is slow. I like her style. She’s sounds like someone I’d sit around and have a drink or something else with. Just started to get into her music. Definitely a fan.
I'm surprised Kacey or no one else has mentioned the obvious influence of Beck on this song. Both the vibe, production and recording are reminiscent of his albums Sea Change and Morning Phase
The Sea Change connection struck me within seconds of hearing the start of the song. Sea Change is one of my favorite recordings of all time. I’m sure she would admit to being strongly influenced by that record.
i really want her to release the original as like a bonus track its sounds really interesting and i feel like it could change the whole meaning of the song
i think it was a good call to tone down the song. what i love about it is the simplicity, one of those amazing songs you think “wow how did anyone not think of this yet”
Truly every time I listen to this song I hear a little bit of Jerry Garcia’s guitar figure from Dark Star in the “with a slow burn” lyric. So the acid part makes complete sense.
This song when she literally sings slow burn, it's like she's searching for another native American chant inside the chorus, like dolly would do in some of her ballads. The eastern sound meshes well, like Hindu or middle East Arabic mix would be cool. She is the type of chick that would love throat singing, and I would love to hear her response to the Mongolian the hu band yuve yuve yu
I wish we had the more lush layered complex version of this song. After listening to the testimonials from bandmates and hearing the sound samples it really sells the idea and I can imagine a rich complex production adding a lot of conceptual scope and dimension to the song. Despite the superficial criticism of it sounding too "trippy" (which I don't think it is) I think the added textures are very appropriate for this song's concept and arrangement and its lullaby structure. At it's worst I can imagine the string arrangements clouding Musgraves' vocals and phrasing of certain complex parts, but I still think the layers of sound would add so much more texture to the overall song and its listening experience. Yeah, it would be nice to have this as a B-side companion to the original.
I absolutely love the original. They should release the other version just because. It reminded me of Within Without You by the Beatles or a Neil Young.
used to think the grammys were no better than like the billboard music awards or something. yknow, a bs popularity contest. but then she won album of the year. it was the first time i ever heard of her. gave golden hour a listen and boooooiiiii...ive never been in love, not sure what it feels like, but i think i have a faint idea now
Even a broke clock is right twice a day. That being said if an Album wins Album of the year or one of the other prestige awards it's usually fairly good.
Its funny because I just listened to this song and thought to myself... do bars close super early in Tennessee? I'm from Canada and they close at 2am here but I know every province/state has different laws/hours and sunset is different in different seasons. Lol glad I wasn't only one
Yeah, definitely has an "old man" feel to it. She honestly could probably get into legal trouble with it, but I doubt Neil cares. I love this album though. Everyone who worked on it should be proud
I am amazed that everyone here is perfectly ok with this guy doing the bare minimum. dude literally just facetimes people and records it. 9 year old youtubers put more effort in.
I’d love to hear that trippier version. I love the song but don’t get all the hype for it. The sparse production makes the song more boring, I think if she added more lush production, I’d feel it even more.
One of the best songs of her career in my opinion and a top track off of "Golden Hour."
Happy and sad is also very good! Liking it now as much. Slow burn i played multiple times. Enjoyed immensely at CMAs
@@tammypreston2902 Agreed! Happy and Sad is a great one! It reminds me of something that the English singer Dido would sing.
best track on the album no cap bro
Butterflies!!
Her song "Follow Your Arrow" is dope too.
Mad respect to Kacey for being willing to try a hallucinogen and being able to craft the theme of an album out of it. On top of that she's willing to be transparent about the fact that she even used the drug in society where it is taboo and often demonized. Love her.
Silicon Valley runs on Acid FYI.
Kacey included Chris!
So well-stated.
Listen to her song "Follow Your Arrow" she really embodies the confidence and open book in her music.
How are shrooms?
It was lsd
*Turns into chicken*
Ohhhkay
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ahahahaah and then her image drifts off into outerspace
his laugh is perfectly weird for that moment
Lol
HAHAHAHA fr whatttt
this "trippy" sound should be the main sound of her next album + disco country
LOVE IT!
If you like trippy things. She does a lot of vocals on the latest flaming lips album. She had one track on there where she’s just harmonizing. It’s nice
@@mikovincent6079thank you for this, the song is amazing.
My favorite set of lyrics is the “Bar down the street don’t close for an hour” - makes me think of late-July Daylight savings evenings. I can smell that walk through the flowers. 🌅

That being said this song is great and deserved the breakdown treatment
Bobby Kole and that is why Kacey is so good, she does it her way...after all...Slow Burn
Not bashing your idea, it would be fun....
Oops, right on Bobby Kole!
Bobby Kole I like the more straightforward country feel
yep, The "Within You Without You" George Harrison version.
The first time I heard this tune I got chills and I’ve been trying to figure out why it feels like something from the past and when Kacey said it felt a little like Neil Young it all made sense. That is exactly the vibe the song has.
Was just gonna say that too about a Neil Young vibe. Like 'Old Man' vibe!
country music used to be about being a rebel against social norms which is why artists like Johnny Cash were so successful. Country music recently has become very confirmative and a lot of it sounds the same or talks about the same things. Kacey may not have too much of a different sound but her music is more creative. Kacey Musgraves is the only country I listen to and I listen to her album more than any other album now
I love this song, but I'd reallyyyy love to hear the asian influenced crazier version, I hope it gets released somehow. It's good as it is, but that just feels next level.

Maren Morris is a multi-genre artist. Wouldn't necessarily label her as a "country" artist since she's gone beyond that, but that's just my opinion.
Maren Morris ain't country
Yeah nah Maren Morris is nowhere near country.
This is the only song I've heard of Musgrave's and now want to check out her other stuff. I'm not a country music fan, and this makes me want to find other artists like her. Most of these goofy, good ol' boy country singers are so boring, it's a turn off.
Id buy a book of her lyric doodles tbh
Julie B there’s an adult coloring book on her website 😊
i bought one by florence welch, and i loved it
*it was lsd*
i love her
mac m Definitely listening to the album you can tell she was into psychedelics. 100%.
the dixie chicks have officially passed on the crown to kacey
Kacey's great but the original DC3 are one of the underappreciated GOATS
Delusional
I usually hear the producers reeling back the artist. But with Kacey, she brings the producers back to earth. That's hilarious.
When I first heard this song about over a year ago, being that this was the first song on the track, I immediately feel in loove with it. This song can take you to a whole other place. Even more magical in concert.

this virtual interview concept is way ahead of its time lol
I like that she has an editorial mind, reeling in the craziness of the producers.
I love her and her music 😍 Good Country Pop is such a guilty pleasure!
Slow is fast and fast is slow. I like her style.
She’s sounds like someone I’d sit around and have a drink or something else with.
Just started to get into her music. Definitely a fan.
Kacey has always been very influential to my spiritual growth I love to meditate to her music while I’m driving
Kacey Musgraves is a legend
This was awesome and one of my favorite songs of all time. Can't wait to see more of these!
I trust her creative judgement. She is perfect.
She's gonna give Lana a run for her money in the 'I make music to imitate LSD' category
Raunaq Nambiar she’s the yeehaw version of ldr & I love it
I'm surprised Kacey or no one else has mentioned the obvious influence
of Beck on this song. Both the vibe, production and recording are

csilt always thought about morning phase too
The Sea Change connection struck me within seconds of hearing the start of the song. Sea Change is one of my favorite recordings of all time. I’m sure she would admit to being strongly influenced by that record.
Yes!
PLZ RELEASE THIS VERSION!!! I play that little clip of this version over and over again! I need physcadelic kacy musgtaves vibez
The fact that she's into psychedelics makes me like her and the song even more.
Damn, even casual at home, on Internet video, she's gorgeous.
I really loved it, wished they had done this with the whole album 🖤
it's funny to me how much drugs were involved in this song cause I just didn't associate with it at all lol. THE MORE U KNOW
I’ve always been aware of her but never gave an honest listen to her until now. I feel like she channeled my journal with this album. Love her.
These diary of a song pieces are awesome!
3:43 this is pretty cool tho but the original is soo good holy crap one of my top 10 fav songs 🤤
Perfect opening track for this album. Such a Beautiful and one of my favorite songs.XX
i really want her to release the original as like a bonus track its sounds really interesting and i feel like it could change the whole meaning of the song
I appreciate her simplicity in her arrangements!
The visual edits are insane!
lol, maybe the bar she's talking about in the song is in Alaska? :-)
Dude took a sip of La Croix before he talked 😂😂
I was just thinking that ! Amazing
He wanted some dat carbonated slow burn down his gullet. Yeeaahhh!
I love her. Leo’s forever.
incredible. Thank you for this edit.
i think it was a good call to tone down the song. what i love about it is the simplicity, one of those amazing songs you think “wow how did anyone not think of this yet”
Love her voice, very nice.
She looked down at that Swisher pack and was like “slow burn huh? 🤔🤔”
Came from her very core and her very soul her very soul and I absolutely am in love with this❤
Im just here because I like learning about the creative process
I knew I loved this song for a special reason.
Love it! I so enjoyed the music waves, peaks and valleys on this little tape...it is a slow burn for sure.. Love it!!!
I agree about the Neil Young vibe, I heard a lot of "Old Man".
kacey musgraves is a genius musician. what a time to be alive and to get to appreciate her music
Truly every time I listen to this song I hear a little bit of Jerry Garcia’s guitar figure from Dark Star in the “with a slow burn” lyric. So the acid part makes complete sense.
One of the best songs ever produced.
Yolanda Mutesasira “Wichita lineman” and “Gentle on my mind”is.
This song when she literally sings slow burn, it's like she's searching for another native American chant inside the chorus, like dolly would do in some of her ballads. The eastern sound meshes well, like Hindu or middle East Arabic mix would be cool. I cry every day I love Kacey so much
I first thought it was Paris Hilton with dark hair
Official Leotique. She looks exactly like Paris’ aunt Kyle Richards
I often wonder if Kacey Musgraves is some kind of Ex Machina/I Robot creation. She looks so dang perfect.
I wish we had the more lush layered complex version of this song. Oh god I love her!!! Thanks for your support of the LGBT community, Kasey❤❤❤
4:36 where is this performance from??!?!
Love it! This song kind of reminds me of The Verve’s “Lucky Man”
the visuals are sooo good !!!
The unicorn at last part was lmao😂
I liked the "Within You Without You" George Harrison vibe they had going for a bit. Wish she hadn't Axed all that.
ngl after tripping out it does feel like a slow burn, thats how it felt with dmt but for hours on end and then waking up the day after
I'm so happy to have found this!
"I came on the day of my mom's baby shower. I always loved to party"
that's a pretty epic story
I loved her already love her even more
They should release the version with Ian's arrangements that didn't make the final cut of the song.
0:33 *"...that's what I love the most about the roots of the [country music]"* haha, I got you.
this song was heavensent
I absolutely love the original. They should release the other version just because. It reminded me of Within Without You by the Beatles or a Neil Young.
This song reminds me of the Beatles of The Yellow Submarine album and Geroge Harrison
I felt it from the start that slow burn and Mother are somehow inspired from A.R.Rehman kind of indian music
favorite song on the album
used to think the grammys were no better than like the billboard music awards or something. yknow, a bs popularity contest. but then she won album of the year. it was the first time i ever heard of her. gave golden hour a listen and boooooiiiii...ive never been in love, not sure what it feels like, but i think i have a faint idea now

She was lit ! ! The Girl Can't Help It.
I love her!!! Talent is her middle name. So honest and true.
Amazing how many people are wowed by someone taking a personal journey.
Good for her.
Phsycadellics aren’t meant to be done every day.
Its funny because I just listened to this song and thought to myself... do bars close super early in Tennessee? I'm from Canada and they close at 2am here but I know every province/state has different laws/hours and sunset is different in different seasons. Lol glad I wasn't only one
I love this song. I hear hints of Sufjan and the melody in the hook, the burn part, reminds me of another song. Caahmire Palaski Day.
Ian is the shiz obviously. Love it
My favorite song ❤️❤️❤️
What a fantastic song!
Yeah, definitely has an "old man" feel to it. She honestly could probably get into legal trouble with it, but I doubt Neil cares. I love this album though. Everyone who worked on it should be proud
Such a fun video! I really want the emoji music video to exist, BTW.
She’s perfect
I LOVE HER AO MUCH
haha i never thought about the bar down the street line being off that's funny
I am amazed that everyone here is perfectly ok with this guy doing the bare minimum. dude literally just facetimes people and records it. 9 year old youtubers put more effort in.
Wonderful song... do more acid, write more songs like Slow Burn...
I’d love to hear that trippier version. I love the song but don’t get all the hype for it. The sparse production makes the song more boring, I think if she added more lush production, I’d feel it even more.
Love Kacey !!
I liked her before and I like her more for being herself and not fearful of being judged
Nice interview.
she reminds me of sunny and cher
i love kacey oml
Devastated that she didn’t write the song! Just when I thought there was hope for teeny pop with a country twang.
I efing love her so much!
