This was a really good and informative video. I play badminton and some of these shots I wouldn't have even thought of playing. It really shows how tunnel visioning and playing only certain types of shots is a curse I need to get rid of.
When you can only perform a certain number of shots, your opponents can predict where it is going. It is really important to be more creative with your shot choice as you will add deception to your shots and force your opponent to wait until after you hit the shot to move
@@BadmintonInsight I just now remembered both of u are left handed how are u guys playing using right hand like this,it was so good I didn’t notice the difference at all🔥
I truly truly appreciate you guys work for the badminton community. I know this short video does not earn you as much as the long ones but it’s jam packed useful information. Keep it up!!! Much love from Thailand.
Btw... Thanks for mirroring the parts in which you're playing. That makes it much more easier for right handed players to understand what you're doing! And I really love how you payed attention to the details, like wearing clothes that don't look wrong while mirrored ;D
This is so aesthetically pleasing. That's what got me into badminton. Seeing peoole float around like they weigh nothing and playing it like chess with their shots. All beginners look like they're trying 110% and most pros make it look effortless. Its like 90% skill and technique and 10% everything else. Whereas good fitness will make up for skill in other sports, a good player will manage way better and out play you
Thank you very much for the shoutout! ♥️ Really appreciate you making a video of every shot , it's gonna be helpful for sure!! Love you Greg and Jenny 🤩

Great simple breakdown of the shots. I'm currently having physio on my right shoulder tendon, so not allowed to play for 3 months. However physio has agreed to me trying to learn to play left handed. After 2 weeks mastered serving forehand and can play a full game. Wondering about backhand serving(which I do right handed) as fine short but struggling long flick serve. Any tips?
it will be fun to go there and train with you guys . nice video btw and very informative . keep the videos coming guys . i always waiting for some new video , and new tutorial .
Inspiring! Didnt think about the forehand drive serve so far. Hard to return if served by a lefthander but you could also include it in your variety of services if you are righthanded.
great video! can you guys do a video on how to play better at the front court? how to have more powerful drives, have better reflexes to take more shots at the front and when to rotate with your partner at the back when you're at the front?
Thank you so much for this video. It is helpful. It is my request of you could make a video on how to do a drive and push shot? I have actually participated in a badminton tournament arranged in my acedamy. So I wanted to learn a shot which would make the opponent confused.
Incredibly good video. Can I suggest a video on How to receive/handle a smash with the correct technique and hand-eye coordination? I have struggled a lot in terms of my timing - Sometimes, I commit myself sooner (before the shuttle is near the racket) and the shuttle just barely touches the racquet and loops up for an easy winner by the opponent, sometimes my reaction is late, and I miss the shuttle altogether. in between these two extremes, I do at times, get my moments of glory as well when my smash receive timing is perfect. In cricketing terms, it's analogous to facing a fast bowler bowing at great speed. How to maintain the correct form, head & racquet position, eye coordination, and body posture and receive the smash without fear and with confidence.
1. Stand in the right place depending where the shuttle was just hit to (and where your partner is covering if doubles) 2. Try to see what the opponent is doing by looking at them and their racquet 3. Listen for sound and then you can have an easier time anticipating the speed of the shuttle coming at you
Hi Greg & Jenny, Thank you for your amazing videos on the game i love most. You have made many videos on how to play and get better as a player. Can you share some insights into the mental aspect of the game? This request comes from my own recent experience. I have been making consistent progress since i moved to france few months ago with regular practice, playing in tournaments and also your awesome technical videos, a few weeks ago i was in a very good position when i play the singles or a doubles match to watch the shuttle, move and play but suddenly last week it felt like i dont know how to hold the racquet correctly and the game itself feels weird. It seems i react to the shuttle passing the net and not like before where i am playing actively. Is this happened to you before and if you know any ways to get my mojo back?? this reminds me of Spacejam movie... Sorry for the long message, keep up the good work!!!
How are you guys so good with your right hands as well as your left? As a leftie I always appreciated that you guys were also lefties but it’s crazy how you can still demo shots using your right hands too!
Just want to ask that could you make a video how to regulate breathing rates during hard rallies coz keeping cool is the key that probably legands of the game lee chong wei and linn dann are best at.
On my last training I had practice over "China jump". It was really difficult to me to perform, I dont know why. It is important the footwork before you are able to produce some of these shots. Especially when the shuttle is landing opposite of your hand hit direction. Please could you show us some examples? Thank u.
I just wanted to ask what grip should you be in singles when the opponent is about to smash and you are in defensive position not knowing is smash is coming to body or forehand or backhand in singles
I really wanted to ask a question related to badminton which I just couldn’t find answer in the internet it is that what grip should you use in singles in a smash defence because I see pro players use backhand grip when it comes to their body and forehand grip when it comes to their forehand and bankhand grip on back hand side as well so what should be the initial grip you should stand with before knowing where smash is coming .should you have a neutral grip? forehand hand? grip or backhand grip ?just the sec before smash comes .
It’s a reactive shot. Just use any grip that is appropriate. There is no model answer. Badminton is a fast & dynamic game. Master the basic & use it appropriately.
Bro that is what I am asking I want to know what is the basic grip to have when you know a smash is coming and don’t know if it’s going in backhand side or forehand or body I want to be international player and this is my question which my couch can’t even answer so I wanted to ask pro players so I can set my basic correctly form the start in advance way not to just play for joy
Robin Hood you don’t get it. There is no model answer. U play competitive and u don’t understand wats a reactive shot? Even the pro get it wrong at time. U start at Joy level first
@@BadmintonInsight still not clearly understand what is Net Poke? Could you explain a little bit detail? What's the difference between Net Poke and Push
After your request we have released a video on the cross court net shot today! Hope you enjoy it 😀 Here's the link - ruclips.net/video/1p0Nv5-90e8/видео.html
I have learnt the Jump smash the 4 corner footwork the split step and stop drop from your channel which has enhanced my game such that i have become one of the best in my friends circle but still there is one short which i guess i am better than what your shot looks like is the cross court net short my short goes to much sticking to net so much that its deceptive to judge weather the shuttle will reach the opponent or not
Weirdly I find stick smashes easier than regular smashes. I think I have the power in my wrist, arm and shoulder to do either, I just tend to throw myself off balance when I get my body involved. I'm guessing its partly my footwork speed but sometimes even when I'm in position in time I still lose myself a point failing to recover after my smash is returned, usually getting no more power than I would have if I did a stick smash. The only thing that I get more power out of is a jump smash. Any ideas?
The stick smash has no waist rotation (the regular one does), and you almost always hit it mid court after a side-step. In doubles, you play this shot when your opponent does a flat lift and you're trying to catch it before it gets past you.
tomorrow is my badminton in clg iam watching these techniques with no practice (i will practice today🙂)just to play better and enjoy it thank you so much for this amazing content 🫂
Yes it is different but provides a similar result and we would argue it’s not essential to learn - a lot of pros don’t even use it! That being said it is a great shot to learn, and one most people want to learn! As we mentioned, we also didn’t cover any deceptive shots or trick shots - otherwise there would be a lot more!!
