I was looking to get Destiny 2 but was put off by the expensive DLCs and content being removed + Bungie exploiting players FOMO and addictions.
But if Destiny 1 has everything included for a decent price, with everything playable, I will definitely give it a go.

Destiny 1 I think is a special game that I wish I gave more of a chance during its heights.
It had an unmatched atmosphere, unmatched music, excellent reward loop (post taken king) and exciting universe.
Destiny 2 feels like it has been deconstructing and “un-cooling” everything that D1 built up.

    • @BBKDRAGOON
      @BBKDRAGOON  7 месяцев назад +10

It really was quite special for the time. I never really fell off Destiny 1, even in the drought times, I liked that universe and the vibes enough to really stick around. Destiny 2 made some incredible strides forward and really did improve so much, but idk, there were just too many "unfun," live service elements to D2 that ultimately had me falling off after Forsaken. I came back for Beyond Light and a bit of Witchqueen, but the love was just never there like D1. Part of that is down to me, aging, more responsibilities etc, part of that is really on the design routes Bungie went. I want to come back for Final Shape to wrap things up. Hope you're doing well and thanks for the great comment!

      @kingk4882 6 месяцев назад

@@BBKDRAGOONI feel you. Even though I played a lot more D2 eventually. I bought D2 and sold it shortly after finishing the first campaign. I came back a few weeks before Forsaken just to quit again when they released that annual pass. The Shadowkeep trailer caught me again and I returned another time. It wasn't nearly as good as I hoped and the raid was one of the weakest ever to me. But this time I stayed as I had a lot of friends being active. Beyond Light was another disappointment. I don't really know why I kept faith but I guess it was still because of my friends. Witch Queen was a surprise and the first time I said that the main story quest could match up with the Taken King quest. But the activities around it were the typical stuff we had known for years in D2. Then Lightfall. Oh my... After a good expansion this one felt like one the worst of all. I still play D2 but I had a couple of breaks since LF was dropped. I will play Final Shape to see how they bring the story to an end but I am afraid they will not be able to make it a great finale.
In this context there is something D1 will keep forever. The many moments of the first time. The first time watching that intro with that overwhelmingly fantastic music. The mystery of something very new and an unknown threat from the darkness. It was all made up so great that I get goosebumps when thinking back of that.
Now we know the witness and that was a cool reveal, too. But somehow that made the mysterious feelings from the old days vanish, it spoiled it. Maybe something darker than the hive would have matched better.
But Bungie made decisions. In D1 we were far away from these and simply enjoyed a magical space tale full of mysteries and tons of memorable moments that we had never experienced before back in these days ❤

I couldn't continue playing after they promised openly on Twitter and on some of their streams that when they released any of the new DLC that they wouldn't be leaving players behind. And then on top of that they already made us pay $60 for the base game (I pre ordered) with the season pass only to release two more DLC that were worth way more than the season pass. At the time 16 year old me just couldn't afford that. I managed to at least get all the way up to taken King but rise of iron was the one that I couldn't do and I was just over it at that point.

For 1, what you consider to be p2w can be different for the next person.
For 2, It's mostly a psychological thing, unless you play the game at a serious level, since there will always be a bunch of people better than you are, pay to win/progress faster or not.
For 3, I play Destiny 2 very casually and don't even know what the pay2win is supposed to look like, nor do I care since I'm still playing through the campaigns, which I'm having fun with. So unless d2 servers are shut down, then there’s no need to worry. That’s why when d2 is down for maintenance it reflects it in d1 as well. Hope this info helps🤟

The community is great too, I asked for some help on the level 10 strike I was on, I think it was Devil’s Lair, which put me in solo the first try, I got about half way with level 10 stuff, so I think I did pretty good, but that took me around an hour, I didn’t feel like restarting after that, but I remembered I don’t have to do solo, so a couple level 40’s really helped me out with the mission when I asked for some help in the tower, and they actually commended me for not reloading the strike after the first hour and actually attempting it solo, which I’ve gotta admit once I get some better gear I think it would be a lot of fun to try again!

+ Destiny 1 is more rewarding to the player.
+ It felt less of a grind despite it being a big grind (Weird I know).
+ Art direction, honestly I think they did a better job with D1 I like the style they've got. It's aged very well.
+ Music/Sound I think that is another aspect which D1 has clearly done better than D2.
+ Level design and the world itself, the places within D1 felt more atmospheric partly due to the above point. We've not had better PVP maps with D2 and to back up my argument, they're bringing back all the old strikes, raids and world spaces from D1 for a reason.
+ Kinda going back to the rewarding aspect, the guns that we got were amazing most of them. Whilst with D2 they dumbed them down and catered too much for balancing reasons. The PVP is partly to fault with them trying to make what should be a casual fun PVP game into a sweaty E-Sport wannabe.
+ Destiny 1 PVP was and still is better, maybe for people who enjoy a sweat you'll prefer D2. What made PVP on D1 successful was its approach to not take things too seriously and where it started to go South is when it catered to the people complaining about everything.
Its just unfortunate that the original vision for Destiny was ruined from the get-go with Destiny 2. They did do their best to reverse the horrible double primary decision which I must state the community people within the boards and content creators are largely at fault for this. I don't think you ever see the OG D1 team make such a huge blunder like that but as we know most of them are gone and that's why the quality isn't what it use to be.

Or the Cosmodrome. But all of it looks so polished now and has that D2 lightning that destroys the atmosphere of the original content.
A remaster must look gritty and nice as D1 does. Actually higher fps and FoV settings as well as all actual control settings and the ledge grabbing would do for me 😊

I've been playing somewhat consistently since the D1 beta. I think D1 was amazing for the time. I actually think I have more hours in that game than the 2nd, and I've played a lot of D2...
However I do think D2 is the better game. Destiny 1 can't be matched in the context of when the game came out. But live service and power fantasy wise, D2 improved on every aspect of the first game.
Like you said though, the original game has its own identity. The somewhat mysterious gritty tone, slower paced tight gameplay & the unknown potential what the game could be someday helped D1 make its mark. It's a very good game still to this day and I highly recommend playing if you haven't.

I tried getting back into Destiny 1 I think about half a year ago or more from when I'm making this comment. But I specifically remember playing a Warlock main, so I wanted to go Hunter, but not buy any fast leveling. I saw plenty of players in the tower and while on patrol, but the main kicker was that almost nobody was doing any campaign objective strikes. So I was for the most part playing every single strike for every campaign in the story completely solo and lemme tell ya, it's certainly no walk in the park. Biggest roadblock was likely in the Taken King DLC with the Shield Brothers who by all means do not mess around, and the Sunless Cell plunging you head first into a horror genre. I had to develop entire strategies against these specific fights because of how much they make you realize why there's a matchmaking system because of how difficult and stress-inducing they can really be when there's only 1 player.

i love d1 i still go back and play 2s when its weekly and do a few raids cause they average only 30 mins. i found out about this game before it had come out and the hype was great. the passion people had was huge. i was in school back then during the golden days of d1 so content drought never was a problem for me, id just hop on and have a good time with the boys. even after the last update the game is still fun and playable years later doing the same old missions and pvp and it got me into wanting to give d2 a try cause the new season is out. i think Activision had a different idea in mind for what destiny should be and i think it helped and also hurt the game. a lot of people quit destiny and moved on because of the various issues over the years which sucks, and i cant really say if d2 redeemed itself or not because everyones opinion is vastly different. i just like to shoot at stuff and go to different planets and actually hate spaceship missions so destiny is still the same for me. only thing i hate about d1 is the sunset for og trials and raid gear even after the end game. i think i understand why but at the same time could help thinking if we had maxed gear why not let us do a quest letting us infuse our gear that was sunset maybe giving the ol gunsmith a purpose. anyways just some late night thoughts d1 was a great game and the raids and missions felt like they mattered and getting the gear was actually really exciting and sometimes challenging.

You can kind of play at 60 fps. With some new TVs (I own one) you can use the smooth motion option with game mode on, and it feels like 60fps and no input latency.

D1 is my favorite game ever. I think it's tight fov and 30 fps actually enhance the game. The art style was amazing and the gunplay is leagues above D2. The raids, the strikes, the story. It's all just perfect. I wish D2 was as good, but I never felt like I was able to get into it as much as I did with D1.

A resolution/fps upgrade on newer consoles would be monumental but they wont do it because d1 would become more popular than d2

I recently deleted all my characters and progress, Valt everything so I can play d1 without the nostalgic weapons and just play the game as is. I had forgotten how much better d1 was in some aspects compared to d2. 6000hr on d1 vs 900 on d2. I'm 200hr in on my certified fresh run.

  • @cravensbergen94

I just started playing on my old Titan again initially just to have a nostalgia trip though the campaign levels with a buddy...
As much as I still enjoy the core of D2, jesus did I get sucked in and I'm dashing through the game and taking advantage of Xbox's LFG system to replay all of the raids and finish DECADE old loot grinds I never got around to finishing. Eventually, I'm going to hit a content wall once I've gotten everything I've ever wanted from the old dog, but perhaps that's one of the reason's it's so refreshing compared to D2's constant state of flux that is difficult to stay on top of.
The aesthetics, the music, the simplified gameplay, so much just feels like home. D2 is still a great game with lots of QoL updates that were DESPERATELY needed, but I'm shocked to find out D1 is still alive and rocking for a handful of us!

  • @curtismorgan139

I’ve recently started playing D1 again and I enjoy it more because it’s simpler, no unnecessary gameplay baggage, and alot easier to navigate in the menus. I feel like the graphics are more genuine and less cartoon like. And the music is on another level. D2 music was good, but not quite as good.
On another note, in my opinion, some of the “plot twist’s” in D2 really were just cans of worms that were opened and since what’s done is done, it’s un recoverable. Similar to how 343 messed up the halo franchise.

I've been replaying the game, and it has been a great experience- mostly.
I suffer from two big problems, there are basically no players in my country, so I have to solo most strikes, which takes like 4 times the time to actually finish them, at least with the unoptimized gear that I have, and, for some reason, I am always getting kicked out of the social spaces like 10 minutes after I turn on the game. Something about peer connections or something like that, but it only happens on the ps5, I can get into social spaces just fine on Ps4
