  • Plaice Fishing in January: Seaford Quest for the First Spotties of the Year! 🎣✨
    It’s that time of year when the focus starts to shift to plaice fishing, and even though it’s early January, the spotties can show up a little sooner than expected! Armed with fresh lug and an eager anticipation, I headed to Seaford for a chance to land one of these prized fish-joined by my friend Becky for some fishing fun along the coast!
    I came prepared with three different rigs to cover all bases: a 3-hook loop rig for maximum scent, a 2-hook loop rig, and a single hook bar rig for ultimate distance. The key is mixing up tactics to give me the best chance at landing a beautiful plaice. Will the conditions be right, or will the fish be elusive? Watch to find out how I got on and which rig made the difference!

    i use breakaway relay clips on my rigs ,, old school rig building tech , they always come out on impact with the water

      I used to use those. Now my preference is for cascade swivels. We all like different things :)

    I enjoyed the video Gem as always , I am probably teaching you to such eggs but I suffer a lot with poor circulation in my hands and feet because of Diabetes and find those disposable work gloves you buy in boxes a great help keeping the cold off also maybe tipping the blacks with small strips of squid might get the plaice more interested

      Gloves is an interesting one. I find I get hooks stuck in them because I am a bit clumsy! I’ve got some fleecy ones for Norway where I don’t need to bait up as often. Thanks for the tips.

    I heard that line lift @25.00 think you chopped the cast a bit? and needed more elevation.
    Might find it's Prawns stripping baits.

    How come your using the Penn CS's then Daiwa ST's go further plus the Fathom 12's go further.

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  8 дней назад +1

      I use the reels I fancy using based on the tactics I’m going to employ. Not a lot more to it than that. So my Penn reels are ideal when I need a ratchet for eg.

    Great video quick question I have just started using loop rigs and I’m running into a problem with the top snood unclipping in the cast any advise Tia

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  10 дней назад +1

      I find when that happens it can be due to the tension in the rig provided by the spring. The snood line may stretch differently from the rig body line which is why the spring is necessary. For me, if I get unclipping on the cast then it usually means there is too much tension in the spring. I try to ‘set’ the tension so the spring is on the verge of starting to compress when it’s all clipped up. Of course we all cast differently and use different line on our rigs. But first tweak would be examining that tension and making it looser until you find the sweet spot. Good luck!

    When is it best to use a pop up rig. Am very new to sea fishing. I watch alot of wyane hands vids . And mate of tom at Christchurch fishing shop.

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  8 дней назад

      When you want to add a bit of movement to the bait to attract the fish. Plaice are inquisitive feeders so pop ups can help for them. Also bream. Just a couple of examples. Good luck!

    Big issue along there is the trawlers years back they raped the whole area left the place devoid and sea life as when they trawl they rip the sea bed up so no features for creatures to live around.
    It got left and slowly regained "Life" but then have started devastating the area again.

      Sometimes it’s a better venue. On that day the conditions at Eastbourne were unpleasant given the wind direction so I headed to Seaford.

    Well done on getting the target species😀thing is,no way can I afford Century rods and feel pretty disadvantaged when RUclipsrs(who are sponsored by a particular company,not you)wax lyrical.🙁….I feel anglers who cannot afford top end rods feel at a disadvantage to other anglers in a more financially advantageous position.I fish for the enjoyment it gives me,on my own and using rods on a limited budget.I suppose I am limited to a 3x1.5 mile island to fish from,but have caught lovely fish,giltheads 5lb+,bass of 6lb plus,huss of 9lb plus and lots of other species😀.I really enjoy your videos and am all for female anglers being promoted,all the best…btw,your video with Wayne was a cracker😀👍🎣🎣

      Century Rods are good if you can bend them, most Zziplex are easier to bend and cast but I have sold all mine and brought continentals, lots is down to technique Christchurch Angler in a recent video has put a £50.00p Rod and reel combo 140 yards, I now cast mostly as Gem does , look at Pevensey Anglers for tips , Sonik ht half the price of a Century, 8000 size fixed spool properly loaded with either 25lb braid or .35 nylon to a tapered leader should give you enough distance for most things without breaking the bank

    • @buckrogers2828
      @buckrogers2828 9 дней назад

      @@tonygeal3157 no difference between the makes of them mind both made by Century now!. It's all down to the blank/model as take the M4 base model is an easy rod then go to the Evo which is stiff.
      Different rods work for different anglers so need one that suits your casting style.

      As mentioned, Tom Bagnal’s channel, fishy Tom, shows what can be done with entry level gear. The most important thing is the rigs and bait. It sounds like you’ve caught some lovely fish without needing to use a century. Good luck on your next session.

      @@ClickBaitGem…cheers for that,Gem.I saw Tom’s (Christchurch angler’s)video on the cheaper set up,interesting video😀…It’s such a shame that our island doesn’t have a tackle shop anymore which does make things quite tricky as you can’t just pop out and get something you need straight away. I always enjoy your videos,especially the flat fish ones as flatties from the shore here are pretty few and far between. All the best,looking forward to more of your videos😀🎣👍

      @@tonygeal3157…thanks,Tony😀…I bought a Vercelli continental and was extremely disappointed with the rings. I take care of my rods but was shocked at how the rings broke within a few times of me using it. The sinker was not too big and the rod was stored/transported in a bag….even the butt plug fell out on the second time of using the rod🙁and it was on a sandy beach!! Thanks for your advice👍😀🎣xxx
