As a young aspiring drummer, I wanted to play just like you Dave. You and Jimmy Chamberlain stood out from the crowd. It brings me so much joy to see you banging those drums all these years later. Keep 'em coming big fella😉😀👍🏻
Legendary… VS is on my top 5 albums ever… raw, heavy, experimental and melodic… love each second of it… and Dave is one of the reasons I started to learn the drums… I covered this song a while a go… those bass drum doubles are killer
Over 25 years ago I bought a drumkit just because I saw Dave playing … nothing it’s the same … PJ would be different band with him again. Thnks 4 sharing Dave
Could someone please tag Matt Cameron to this video so he could learn how to play this song? Great job Dave, thank you for sharing so we could see how it’s done right.
Even today Pearl Jam would be a better band with Dave Abbruzzese on drums. And it's not just the drums, he has written this song! What a legend! Thanks Dave for recording and sharing this!
PJ is done and overwith. Eddies voice is so bad now. Dave shouldnt waste his time entertaining the thought of playing shows or hanging with pj. Mike McCready is still cool but everyone else in that band has a crazy ego.
Peart’s timing, Bonham’s power and groove, and Copeland’s feel. What makes Dave on the level of the other greats mentioned is they don’t simply provide a background element to a song, they make the drums a focal part of the song’s composition and on equal footing with the other instruments. That’s what elevates someone from just being a good drummer to being a great drummer and a true musician. 👍🏻
Yesss Dave A 😎✌️😍👏 You made my day my friend 🥳🍻❤ I think there's a particular "Jam" band who's subsequently missing "their engine", still wondering why their "car" won't start & they have to push to make it "GO" 😂 And many probably don't realise that you also wrote that awesome riff too 😎✌️❤
The video we all needed... I can't tell you how much of an inspiration are you to me and how much influence you've had on my drumming. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much Dave! ❤
Dave literally made this Pearl Jam song GO because without the Drums that guitar riffs and vocals aint Going anywhere imagine the Song Go without drums just Vocals Guitar and Bass? Not only he was a time keeper he made the drums sing he sang thru the drum skins
Incredible. Finally. Dave, Would it be possible for you to play Vitalogy as you envisioned it and not as you had to record it? Can you legally play with the playalong or would you have credit issues with Pearl Jam? Hugs and continue to give us art. I would like to see your vision in other bands, to see if you manage to Abruzzie their songs :)
This is what it wounds like when you play it right!!! It's beyond me why Pearl Jam don't strive for this drum sound with the snare and hi-hat when it comes to the VS and Ten tracks? Because this sounds so good like on Vs.!!! My $0.02. I wish you went right into Animal...
Dave, this is just magic. The influence you had (and still have) on so many drummers of our generation is undeniable. I wish everyone knew how many people you inspired to pick the drum sticks for the first time. One of the greatest, no contest.
Dave , like Jimmy Chamberlain , is a vastly underappreciated drummer . Not by those of us who know though . All that power but so musical . Thanks to Dave for making great music and inspiring millions of drummers and non-drummers .
@@featheryfemme Using the open hats on the second half of the verses for the re-recorded video version more than what’s on the original definitely took it to another level for me.
Very grateful Dave! Thank you - in my humble opinion (no discredit to PJ's current drummer), you've always sonically interacted in PJ's band. And I'm very happy to hear your beats again.
The rimshot and the way of his playing says its all ! Thats how its done my friends ! Only Abbruzzese gets it : spontaneuos ! Lets rock this shit my friends ! C ya !
Dave is a force of nature on the kit. The only thing I can say is “THIS IS WHAT DRUMS ARE SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE!!” Those double stroke kicks are deadly. Dude is partly responsible for the soundtrack of my life during my late teens to early 20s.
I declare without any hesitation that Dave was far above the other members of PJ in terms of talent and sense of music. And every time a PJ CD ends up in my player, it's only because of him.
I could listen to the the whole album like this (Daughter ? Please?!) . Phenomenal! And the snare sounds exactly as the record. Thanks Dave for posting this.
Love it Dave! 😝🤘 giving me a big fat smile. Love the foot bass. 😁🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 was hoping you might get the foos gig! 😭😭😭 Thank from New Zealand.🌏🌿🌿🥝🥝🥝 keep them coming brother. Your kit is sounding Bad to the Bone! 😊👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Dude, this is amazing. I'm sure we'd all love to see you recreate more early drum parts -- I love that band, but they've never been the same after you left.
Dave, I grew up with PJ's first albums and am still a fan to date. Your playing was fundamental and inspirational to so many of us young drummers back in the early 90s. Please keep these videos coming - you have a legacy of fans that are, till this data a huge fan of your drumming. I still remember to this day when I bought Vitalogy, spun it for the first time that MONSTROUS intro to Last Exit came on. Long live Dave Abbruzzese!
Fuck yeah! Such a great song with a beautifully brutal chorus. And that guitar solo is fuckin wicked. The drum fills leading into the final chorus are superb! My favorite Pearl Jam drummer and it ain't even close. One of my favorite drummers period. I even like the songs Dave wrote such as "Angel". Dave, you are one badass drummer, dude. 🤘
Heh heh heh. That's a lifesaver this morning, my friend!! 💋🤩😘. OMFG, GO FO SHO. 😳🤣🤘🤘. As always, thank you kindly for the regular inspiration. That SOUND, DEAR! IT COULD ONLY BE FROM YOU! Love it. 😅

Soooo good!
I can’t be the only person just expecting to hear Animal straight after this, right? 😁
So good. Could watch him for hours.

Pearl Jam OG DRUMMER❤❤❤ DEEP POCKETS
OOOOOOOHHH YEAAAAAHHH
Agree w the all of the above, great drummer, great band, best records. On another level, how good do the cymbals sound here!?! Pretty musical👏👍
One of the greatest drummers of all time
1000%!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think so too. It's his consistency flow creativity and groove that makes him so special.
still my favourite drummer in pearl jam. those early years were their best by far.
He’s the only PJ drummer in my eyes, they died when Dave left 😢
1000% jack and Dave krusen have some soul in their playing but Dave A is Pearl Jam
Yup. 100%
Agree! Nothing against Matt Cameron but Dave Abruzzusse is the only true PJ drummer!!!
agree 100.
hands down, my favorite Pearl Jam drummer..
Me tooooòoò😊
For me, THE drummer in Pearl Jam.
Still the best drummer pearl ever had. You've just got that x factor and raw power none of the others have.
Matt is also included when we’re talking about raw power.
@WillS-pl8wg absolutely disagree with that. Yes in sound garden but not in pearl jam.
