What’s more impressive to me than Alex’s skill is the fact that he did this in dress shoes.

Guz had the right idea of moving the spot, but instead of putting it out in the open surrounded by things he should have hidden in in a cupboard somewhere in the house then just stood outside by the goal (so that his location doesn't give any inkling as to where the ball is hidden), the search would have likely taken more time than moving the stuff out of the way

@@lookwhatyoumademedo They mentioned it really briefly but the task was that they had to stay within 12 meters of the ball, so Alex would know roughly where the ball is even if they got in a cab. Hiding it in the house would still work though!
I think you misheard them, the task said they have to be at least 12 yards away from the ball when Alex kicks it

If you'd taped the ball to the spot and given it to a passing car, odds are you would have won. Alternatively, if you deconstructed the goal, the ball wouldn't be able to go into the goal without the goal being reconstructed. They had time to do both of these.

For added amusement I’d have also got him into the caravan and duct taped it shut even the windows just to see how determined he was to get out

Alex is a baller
Dig a hole under the spot, place the spot and ball in the hole and bury it. If he tries to claim that he can 'move it' argue that the spot and ball never moved and thus he must dig it up, replace the soil and then try and score. The argument alone with waste more time than anything else. Alternatively stab the ball and fill it with water. Invite him to kick it.

When he kicks he has a large opening to kick to. Put something in front of the ball to limit that window. Such an easy task

I would have dug a hole, put the ball and red spot in it, then filled it in and replaced the grass. It would have been virtually impossible for Alex to remove the ball from the ground without taking it off the red spot. ⚽

Should have dug a hole behind the ball and immediately to its sides. Then kicking it would have still been possible, but with very low strength and bad accuracy, which would have made it easier to defend.

Imagine if Taskmaster had other kind of contestants instead of TV personalities/comedians. Like having Ben Foster the cycling GK on for this task, It would've been a really funny task.

The goal would still be given to Horne. Even tho it deflected of the goalkeeper because the shot was on target.
If Alex’s shot had been off target and only went in because of the deflection by the goalkeeper. That’s when it’s credited as an own goal.

The goal cannot move from its spot. You can steal the spot; you cannot steal the goal.
