When I lose mt crojo I go to my favorite creators and watch their tutorials. I also go through my crochet books. I also move on to a new project, i sometimes have about 5 projects going at once. this helps me to not get bored. I have recently started diamond painting. I will do that for a break and then go back to crochet.

Hey my yarny friend! This is a great summary of the situations & some remedies for LOC, TY. I’m glad you talked about all of this. I have at times felt guilty and unproductive when I’ve had bouts of loss of crojo or taking a little break from crochet even though I love it so much. I’m now more understanding & patient (and accepting!) with myself that my health & stress levels will impact my ability to crochet & stay motivated & excited. Acknowledging mental & physical fatigue is important & remembering that it will change-helps! I used to get upset or feel guilty. I’ve learned to relax about it when I feel unmotivated or have some LOC. For me a quick fix (usually after some kind of break, hopefully short ) can be watching some crochet crochet/yarn podcasts or tutorials or chatting with my daughter about things she might like me to make for her (then researching those crochet TikToks/Pinterest or r/crochet rabbit holes 😂) Then we look at my stash & pick colors-We love planning projects together 🥰 Good reminder about looking at our crochet books too-I got several beautiful ones this past year. Including Toni Lipsey’s Tunisian book, Melissa Leapman’s stitch collection, a beautiful mandala crochet book and Crochet Collage Garden (for flowers/plants/wreaths!) and wouldn’t ya know, I haven’t made a thing from them yet… it’s great to have that reminder. Plus, I love reading, and need to do that more. I’ve learned to accept some of the cycles of creativity & productivity for me. & learned that trying to meet crochet deadlines for gifts, etc. leaves me too stressed, fatigued & needing a break (or at least a new project/yarn to consider.) It can feel like burnout or LOC but thankfully temporary. Like a loved one, crojo always comes back 🥰 ✌️💖🧶

I get crojo back by taking a break from yarn. I have lots of textile hobbies, cross stitch, embroidery, tatting, English paper piecing, applique, stamping cards, etc. Or I play games on my tablet or laptop. Tablet is for card, number or other simple games. Laptop is for cities skylines, hogwarts or sims4. But right now my crojo is soaring. I just found my collection of crochet hooks that I've been searching for the last 10 months! I sat down to sort them but first I gave the bag a good hug. Part of my collection are inherited hooks from relatives. It is twice as big as I remember, lol. I labeled sizes on the loops or pockets as I sorted. I have about 12 size F from my mom and 2 mother's in law and mine. When done I had give the cases more hugs. I then organized the crochet shelf on my rolling cart. Earlier in the day I finished the skirt on the bunny doll I'm almost done with. Now I'm resting my body. This is a good video. In the past I have experienced all the reasons you gave. I like your solutions.

Something I've turned to when I feel like crocheting, but don't want to make anything really is to take my yarn that's in a less desirable shape (random balls usually lol) and crochet basic fabric so it can be folded and tucked away until I want to use it. I also use the time to test new patterns or stitches! Something about knowing that it's going to be undone takes off a lot of pressure that I put on myself when making something.

Great video Shannon! Great ideas, suggestions, thoughts, inspiration! I often like to push myself to try new things, inside my current crafting or a completely different one. I crocheted and did embroidery as a teen and early adulthood.Taught myself to sew as a young parent to make crafts for sales, my toddlers clothes. I started wreath making by watching YT tutorials, then cake decorating, selling from my home, then moved on to paper crafting during Covid. I’ve come full circle, I’m back to crochet thanks to seeing your videos! You sparked my interest again! I am making lots of blankets for Christmas gifts this year, at least that’s the plan!! 5 kids, 3 have spouses and 2 grands!

I decided to learn two new skills in 2023 to swap between. Wire wrapping jewelry and knitting, so I have a goal of 2 wire wrap bracelets a month and it took me awhile to get past cast on in knitting, lol, put have made two dishrags now and started a pair of ribbed tube socks. And an unplanned new skill for 2023 was trying to learn wool felting on my amigurumi, so that happened, lol. So when I need a break, I'll work on a bracelet or switch to doing a few rows on the knitting needles ...

When I lose my crojo, I design my crochet pieces from my art work or I do my dry needle felt
