@@williegordon7899 No, Joe is 'not' the only one worried about Hoss, but he is going about it the wrong way in thinking vengeance is going to solve the problem, when it will only make things far worse...
Great to see the inimitable Adam Williams, actor and aviator. He often worked some problematic Hollywood roles, but whatever the job, he brought much talent. I always was engaged by his roles. I totally loved him as the sailor in the Twilight Zone episode, The Hitchhiker. Here, his part is limited, but he gave the role depth. As for the rest of this episode, well, just Ok.
Great episode! Everytime I see Roy Engle, who played the doctor, I think of his role as President Grant in The Wild Wild West! Put a beard on him and he looked a lot like Grant.
Hard to believe Lorne Greene was only 44 in the first episodes. He looks so much older. Pernell Roberts and Dan Blocker were only 13 years younger than him.
I know, that all three sons are handsome and attractive. The father is also attractive. But Little Joe is sooo beautiful. His eyes, his hair colour, his hairstyle his nose, his height, his voice. From a visual point of view, the perfect boy/man (at least for me. Of course it's a matter of taste). One of the most beautiful men ever.
There were many things that, to our 21st century eyes, seem wrong about this show. But when you take into account it was made in the 1960s and set in the 1860s, then you realise that our modern thinking doesn’t fit. I have watched this show since I was 6, 61 years ago, and have always loved it. Little Joe forever Lynne
Hi Lynne ! Fancy meeting you here !!! :) It's 'Jane' ( in Canada ) formerly on Bonanza Legacy chat site and 'poster of stories' on Bonanza Legacy site', too ! And also the Wattpad site for a few years now. Last time I checked on the Legacy site, they STILL had the calendar up for July 2018 - what's with that ?!!! The site looks quite dead if they can't even keep the calendar up-to-date. How are you doing, and are you still posting your stories on your own website ? As you can see I post comments under Voice of Reason and there is usually a picture of Adam as my avatar - when they allow you to use your own avatar, and not just a letter ! :) Take care and keep promoting our favorite show . :)
at first I thought Willie's death was a bit ridiculous but with the added detail of his heart condition and his drunken stupor affecting him it does make sense.
Near the end of episode 53, bad guy Red reins up at the Ponderosa, and shoots the helpful hand twice. The hand falls. Red goes into the house. Joe and Adam show up, and see the hand lying on the ground, shot. Then they move towards the house. When they come out, after Joe is stopped from shooting Red by Adam, and Hoss makes it down, they're all good with how everything would up. But what about the hand? He wasn't seen being carted off, and no one asked about him again - but Joe and Adam saw his condition when they arrived. Wouldn't the sheriff have the last word and say that even though Red wouldn't hang because Hoss lived, he would hang because of the Ponderosa hand he shot. Did the hand survive then? Oh, the loose ends.
We see the mistakes in judgement and action because we are the viewer, but in real life we make plenty of these missteps. Also, the episode has to play out, so the writers need the characters to make what we see as faulty choices.
All right - just where did the ranch hand who was lying dead in the yard end up when Little Joe & Red Twilight were brawling? And the firewood he was carrying... lol
Well, Ben did say he'd make sure one of the ranch hands was there to help while he was gone. Of course though the ranch hand got killed. I guess what Ben should've done was send the ranch hand to get the sheriff while he guarded the place against Red Twilight, or at the very least told the hand to watch out for a killer on his way there. The poor ranch hand was clueless.
Little Joe was the youngest son of the family.. There was a big distance of the age among the three sons. From the episode of " Inger my Love" Adam at least older than Hoss for six years , therefore , I think Hoss at least older than Little Joe for 3-5 years . Because when the father Ben met Hoss's mother was a poor man in "nger my love" but was a well dressed rich man when he met Joe's mother in "Marie my love" . Therefoe, Adam should older than little Joe at least 10 years. (In real life, Pernell Roberts & Dan Blocker older than Michael Landon for more than 8 years ) Adam was mature , calm and gentle . Hoss was also gentle and caring about his father and brothers . Little Joe was Ben's youngest and most beloved son. Actually he was spoiled severely by the father Ben. In the first episode of season 1 , Adam had already complained this to Ben . But Ben made himself an excuse . Little Joe was spoiled and like a wild horse difficult to control . His temper is hot and very emtional . In Joe's eyes , there was only right or wrong , no grey zone. He expressed his emotion and feeling in a very straight way. When he happy,he laughed , sometimes he even played childish tricks to his elder brothers. When he sad , he cried . When he angery , he would fight and was always the first ones who streched out his fists to others even towards his elder brothers . But we could not deny , Little Joe also a kind hearted person and loved his father and brothers very much . He was at his very young age , only 22 years old who always liked to chase after the girls just as Adam said 😂😂😂
Lorne Greene was 13 years older than Pernell Robert's and Dan Blocker, who were the same age as each other. Dan Blocker and Pernell Roberts were 8 years older than Michael Landon. As for their characters Adam was the eldest son. Hoss was 6 years younger than Adam. Joe was 6 years younger than Hoss and 12 years younger than Adam. In season 1 Little Joe was only 17 Hoss 23 Adam 29
There were actually 3 different photos of Little Joe 's mother although the one whom was the final pick was the one in the episode Marie My Love, Actress Felicia Farr. In the beginning it was a painting and then in the episode The First Born where Joe's half brother Clay Stafford shows up he's showing Joe a black and white photo of their mother and finally the photo of the actual pick to be their mother is the last one whom actually is finally making an actual appearance on the show as Marie is Felicia Farr and Ben had a photo of her and Adam's mother Elizabeth and Hoss's mother Inger on the top of his desk in the episode The Frenchman , but yeah I 've seen that drawing that was supposed to be Joe's mother in maybe 2 or 3 different places hanging up on the walls in different buildings
17.53 "You two boys are to stay here. And this time you are not to disobey me. Please do as I ask." First he orders them and then askd them nicely. Kind of funny.
Funny due to maturity and watching with a careful eye, when Joe tackled the guy on the top of the stairs, his stunt double stepped in and he was very obvious at the bottom of the stairs stumbling over the chair, fairly close look-alike.
As a kid I watched every episode played even now as a 62 yr old I enjoy watching and remender many of the episodes I regret saying this is one episode I truly did not enjoy bc of the attitude little joe had sure he was concern about hoss but I couldn't watch all of the show stopped around 17;35

I'm watching 2023. Love bonanza
Adam seemed to recover pretty quickly from that gunshot wound, wherever it was.
The bullet grazed his temple, which would stun him but not necessarily knock him out.
@@Coupal1 Aaah... Gotchya! 👊😎
Hoss recovered quickly, too.
@@alberttropeano3909 yes the next week's episode you won't be able to tell he was ever shot in the back. No pain. No limping. No cane . He'll be lifting cows over his head and mending fences and riding horses all day. Too bad it doesn't work that way in real life. Love the show and gunsmoke too.
@@tomlynch3760 Ah,but how much time passes between episodes?!
This is a GREAT episode! I’ve watched it 100 times!
Thanks for sharing this Great episode Vengeance.
🎬❤️
Always a moral to the story. Hollyweird take note!!!!!
44:49 love how this episode came to an end. Wow!!!!
Little Joe to backshooter : " I made a promise backshooter and I want you to taste it first!! I want you to feel it before I blow your brains out!!"
Adam to Little Joe :
"Blow his brains out, it's only going to bring you down to the same level of the man you're going to kill"
Maybe if Willie wasn't a drunk he'd still be alive.
Seems like Joe is the only one worried about Hoss.
@@williegordon7899
No, Joe is 'not' the only one worried about Hoss, but he is going about it the wrong way in thinking vengeance is going to solve the problem, when it will only make things far worse...
@Solo. That was well said!!!
@@redblade8160 That's right.
Very together family.
At the beginning when joe and Adam find Hoss, Adam tells Joe to ‘get going’. He sounded just like Pa
Well, wasn't Pa. But was his oldest brother
@Kerry. That's because Adam was used to being the older, wiser, and level headed brother to Little Joe.
@@daysyperez5103 Can't you read? Kerry said that Adam SOUNDED like his pa. Kerry never said that Adam was his brother.
@@lynettepalecek3141 What are you talking about? You're the one that seems doesn't understand my comment!!!
Didn't they have hospitals in the 19th century? Today if someone got shot they wouldn't have them in their home trying to get better.
I love Bonanza ❤
Great episode! Everytime I see Roy Engle, who played the doctor, I think of his role as President Grant in The Wild Wild West! Put a beard on him and he looked a lot like Grant.
Wow that was some episode 👍
Hoss' nightie is so great.
Yeah, but how did they get him in it?
So very glad I got to visit the Ponderosa ranch in Incline village before it was removed.
Why did he throw the knife over Little Joes head? Lol ,,,Bonanza still #1 Best Western T.V. show ever!!!
Sure as heck.
Hard to believe Lorne Greene was only 44 in the first episodes. He looks so much older. Pernell Roberts and Dan Blocker were only 13 years younger than him.
The desk clerk was played by Olan Soule. He played the desk clerk and the choir director in "The Andy Griffith Show."
Oh my!!! You ok???
@@kjnest Yes, thanks.

Hoss my all time favorite ☺️
There were many things that, to our 21st century eyes, seem wrong about this show. But when you take into account it was made in the 1960s and set in the 1860s, then you realise that our modern thinking doesn’t fit.
I have watched this show since I was 6, 61 years ago, and have always loved it.
Little Joe forever
Lynne
Still loved it
Awesome 👌
at first I thought Willie's death was a bit ridiculous but with the added detail of his heart condition and his drunken stupor affecting him it does make sense.
Really good show
A very well acted and good episode.
The hotel manager also played the forensic specialist in the original dragnet.
The hotel manager was played by Olan Soule. He also played the hotel manager and the choir leader in "The Andy Griffith Show."
Thank you for sharing
All true. Loose ends=money+time on a production set. So, loose ends must be...
Read vengeance on bonanza fanfiction and you got your answer
Why would you spoil it for those who have never seen it .
Milton lane if you still have not seen this episode its there since 1961 ...... spoilers🤣🤣🤣
Hoss never had an enemy in his life? He's a Cartwright! 😂
The inn keeper was the choir director in Andy Griffith show
Olan Soule...he was also SID man Ray Murray in the late 60s incarnation of "Dragnet."
Mary was also on Andy Griffith. Tried to con Barney into marrying her.
@None Yun. He was also the hotel manager in "The Andy Griffith Show." His name was Olan Soule.
@@ApartmentKing66 Olan Soule was also the hotel manager in "The Andy Griffith Show."
I love these shows but it bugs me how many episodes that just a simple conversation if people would let someone speak might’ve changed
We see the mistakes in judgement and action because we are the viewer, but in real life we make plenty of these missteps. Also, the episode has to play out, so the writers need the characters to make what we see as faulty choices.
@@user-pd7il3xz5j true but at the same time this was a bit silly
All right - just where did the ranch hand who was lying dead in the yard end up when Little Joe & Red Twilight were brawling?
And the firewood he was carrying... lol
How stupid was Ben leaving Hoss there by himself especially after the girl told him that guy was going to finish the job.
It wouldn't have had the exciting finish if he hadn't.
dumb episode
Yeah 😊 they really more lucky than smart
Well, Ben did say he'd make sure one of the ranch hands was there to help while he was gone. Of course though the ranch hand got killed. I guess what Ben should've done was send the ranch hand to get the sheriff while he guarded the place against Red Twilight, or at the very least told the hand to watch out for a killer on his way there. The poor ranch hand was clueless.
@@billh.8515 thanks for the input friend! I live vicariously through these folks so it seems like a real experience and I'm in it😃
Little Joe was the youngest son of the family..
He was at his very young age , only 22 years old who always liked to chase after the girls just as Adam said 😂😂😂
The character of Little Joe was 17-18 years of age.
Lorne Greene was 13 years older than Pernell Robert's and Dan Blocker, who were the same age as each other. Dan Blocker and Pernell Roberts were 8 years older than Michael Landon.
As for their characters
Adam was the eldest son.
Hoss was 6 years younger than Adam.
Joe was 6 years younger than Hoss and 12 years younger than Adam.
In season 1
Little Joe was only 17
Hoss 23
Adam 29
not a word said about the poor ranch hand that got blasted
It is amazing that the picture in the hotel lobby is a picture of Little Joe's mother
I guess the ranch hand wasn’t hurt to bad seems he must’ve got up and walked away….
He became ( the stunt man that played ) Little Joe in the fight scene on the stairs. Can't be in two places at once, I guess !
Thanks!

Could we show a little concern for the dead hired hand?
Bob MILES Michael Landon stuntman .
A minute of silence.
I recently saw an episode in which Little Joe killed someone's brother, who then wanted revenge.
Also, there have been several episodes in which one or another of the Cartwrights was wrongly accused and relied on the legal process for vindication.
