It may be a lil ghetto but you can use a water bottle, heat it up and it will take shape of the propane threads to close it off from the elements. quick and ez
@@ATEMOFFROAD I'm a year late to the party, but I was going to recommend another "poormans slot" on the bottom for drainage. Also get some round caps for the big holes. Love this build man
This thing looks awesome. At first I wasn’t to sure about the lowes trailer becoming an overland trailer but I’m now sold on the build. Great job. I wish I can copy you and make myself one however, without any welding experience, I think I will have to skip on that. Lol.
As far as welding goes, it can be a little intimidating, but there are classes you can take that are inexpensive at local junior colleges to learn. I think anyone can do it, the first step is getting a welder and practicing. And alot of the little stuff is practice! I always say you can outsource alot of the real important structural stuff to a local fabricator who is comfortable. That way you are comfortable about your build too! I feel like welding is like riding a bike and when you start learning you have it down, and then you begin to learn how to do tricks over time! Well something like 🤣🤣 I hope that I can inspire one person to take in the challenge and learn something new. It’s a great life experience IMO even if you don’t pursue it. I’ve always thought that if he could do it I can too. Thank you for watching I appreciate it! 🍻
I saved a lot by already having the trailer , that minimized the cost of buying steel and using the trailer as a foundation to build up. Steel costs have been bogus lately, and I’m not made of money. I figure it’s not a super crazy build , very simple and light weight, still obey the manufacturers handling suggestions etc. Overall dollar cost average, and that’s everything $2700. And I could have gotten away with a lot of things I really didn’t need to do! For instance the max coupler , the fenders and tongue box, Rotopax, axle upgrade! Things like this i choose to do this! I’m sure you could definitely cut that 2700 down even more based on your personal configuration and needs.
So, why would you go through all the trouble to tow a total stupid trailer with you? A rooftop tent, two empty jerrycan, a toolbox, and that's that 😎😎😎
With your logic it makes you wonder why they even make camping trailers, Coaches, and RVs to begin with. We particularly like offgrid, offroad 4x4 dispersed camping and with a family of 4 + 2 dogs, we use two tents, one on top of the jeep for kids, and my wife and I use the trailer or vise versa. Not much room in a jeep to sleep 4. 🤷♂️
I've watched a lot of these off road trailer builds and this is easily one of the best series. Well thought out and imagined. Thank you.
Thanks for watching I appreciate it. 🍻
Man, your videos are just getting better and better, and so is that trailer. Loving this whole build series.
Thanks bro , it’s a ton of work but comments like that make it all worth it man! It’s time to take it camping 🏕 thanks for watching 🍻
Dude youre good at this you could have a great career as a television presenter
That is by far THE BEST Carry on conversion out there.👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you i appreciate it 🍻
you could use a trashed gas grill regulator and make a cap - it has the right threads already
That’s a good idea, I bet I could transfer the design to solid works and 3d print them too. Thanks for watching 🍻
Rotate the propane tank so the threads are facing the trailer. The collar will protect the tank.
Good idea, thank you
I love this setup wow !!!!!!!!!! Copying this !!!
Thank you so far its been awesome, trailer and new tent shakedown video coming soon. Thanks for watching 🍻
Great video. Just a heads up: deter is pronounced "dee tur."
That’s fair , thanks for watching 🍻
You can find videos on how to beat your lock in under a minute. If the lock is inside the basket, it could be made less accessible and more effective.
Very nice! May I suggest a weep hole so the bottom tube of the jack can drain. Water splits tubes and pipes when it freezes.
It’s been great to move around in the trail. Also a weep hole is a really good idea. Thanks for sharing 🍻
@@ATEMOFFROAD Remember to clean out the weep hole before winter. Especially if it's under a 1/4 inch.
@@johnossendorf9979 thank you , as of now it’s been garaged, but I do plan on taking it through weatherly storms. 🍻
@@ATEMOFFROAD Sounds like fun !
Very clean! Thank you for sharing.

No idea is a bad idea, I found a cap on Amazon I’ll show it to you in our next video 🍻
Awesome build very cool ,thankyou for sharing.
It’s been a really fun build so far! Thanks for watching 🍻
First time seeing your videos , that’s a great looking trailer
Thanks for watching I appreciate it 🍻
great job bud. 👍
Thank you 🍻
Wow! You’ve done a great job with this trailer.
Thank you, it’s been a fun build
Where in the central valley are you from?
This is the perfect trailer! I need something like this. Great work
Thanks for watching I appreciate it 🍻
Drill you a hole in the bottom of that bottle mount for water to drain so it doesn’t rust out. Otherwise everything looks awesome!
Good idea , then I won’t have to remove the plastic cap! Thanks for watching 🍻

Can you share a ballpark money spent on this project so far?

Great job bud. I need to get one started soon
It’s been a very fun little trailer build. Thanks for watching 🍻
Great project you got. Thank you for sharing. Btw, can kind and brand of welding machine are you using?
Thanks and welcome to the channel, I’m running a Hobart handler 187 MIG welder. I change from flux core to 75-25 gas in this machine all the time. 🍻
Did you use a mitre saw to cut the tubing? If so, what blade? I'm new to fabricating so trying to figure out what tools I'd need to build my own
Yes I have a 12” chop miter saw for steel and a band saw that I switch between for making all the cuts. I use dwalt blades found on Amazon. 🍻
I would have the locks on the inside of the trailer
should fuel and water cans be INSIDE trailer, so as not to get rock rash/damage?
It’s a good idea, if I notice something ahead that might damage them I can put them inside! Thanks for watching 🍻
Hello nice job , can you share the bill numbers of all parts bought for you trailer mayor parts thanks 😊
I have around 2700 in the trailer build , that’s everything. Thanks for watching 🍻
Plenty of room for a double rotopax mount.
I might need to do this soon , I want more storage! Thanks for sharing 🍻
Great videos. I've been working on a 3.5 x 5 myself. What length on the tongue did you end up going with?
Thanks from the front of the tool box to the end is 38” 🍻
Maybe swapp the water and gas cans so the propane is not that close to the gasoline?
I like this idea, thank you
Do the trailer wheels fit the jeep and vis versa?
Yes
@@ATEMOFFROAD Awesome. Your Chanel has become one of my favs. I picked up an 04 LJ bone stock and your info is perfect, Thanks again

How tall is it
If you ever sell this thing let me know, I’m interested. Thanks

Do you have an overall cost up to this point of just the trailer?
I’d say roughly 1200 no tent , thanks for watching 🍻
