Thanks for watching.
How is your sense of self-worth currently? and what are you doing to cultivate self-worth?
Doing for others helps to take the focus off of self! Also, not constantly comparing one’s self to others keep negative self talk at a minimum.
I heard it said once: comparison is the stealer of joy!
I stay off most social media platforms because it exacerbates feelings of inadequacy.
Simply believing I am a high value person helps keep my mind right!
still working daily to improve! Setting small goals for change helps keep on course!
Great advice! I am going to start journaling for personal growth.
🙏
right. So then, I shall share your channel with the UWC.
Appreciation of myself and others, we all have a role in this universe. Thank you for the video
It is fascinating what you touch on about the social networks etc. It's connected to branding and marketing, which has no room for parts of reality! I love coming here and listening to your words about this.....hmmm maybe i should go to a monastery too.
Honestly, rock bottom lately, so your video found me at the right time.
Been on a self-improvement journey this year, improving my health, skilling up as well, but struggling to see a point in it all. Been trying to be more active in cultivating a world outside me the last couple weeks, though. More time with friends, more doing things for other people, and more taking risks and getting out of my comfort zone. With time hopefully it'll rebuild my confidence.
I have never heard this subject discussed in such a kind but impactful manner. Kudos to you for developing yourself so skillfully and with such grace to be able to provide meaningful teachings to the rest of us!
Aww thank you so much Susan 😊😊
When I have feelings of inadequacy after seeing my friends doing things I would love to do, I look up at God and say, “I’m jealous! Help me to be joyful for my friend.” And then I look around my beautiful home and at my wonderful life and I am grateful. I appreciate you reminding me of this trap we can get caught in.
I value myself most for the things no one else sees like when I save a bee from drowning in the pool or rescue a bird with a broken wing. Blessings 💜
😊😊
Oh wow
This Quote Change My Life
A dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work
😊😊😊
Thank you for the kind reminders 😊 Comparison has become so easy and rampant these days that we default to that judgmental inner voice as we scroll addictively. Assessing ourselves neutrally may not be easy but is the basis of compassion and kindness of ourselves
Thank you so much for sharing Matt 😊😊 and yes, we definitely need to be mindful.
Dear Venerable Nick, Your videos are extremely helpful because I can also revisit and listen to them again. Your personal examples make the content so accessible. I have started sharing your clips with friends and we are enjoying some great conversations because of this. As I work with young people, I know self worth is an important topic, Thank you for giving me more food for thought on how to think about this in my own situation and how approach this topic with them. Please keep making these clips. You are doing important work for all of us.
Sadhu sadhu. Thank you so much Julie! I love that you are using it to open a dialogue. Keep up the great work my friend 😊
Thank you, you’re content on RUclips has been very helpful. The journey you have been on is very impactful for many.
Thank you so much my friend 😊😊
Sadhu. Thank you for brining peace into our lives🙏
You’re welcome ☺️
I always enjoy listening to your messages. Just your demeanour and voice are calming. You are gifted in being a teacher and mentor. Thanks for your ongoing genuineness, empathy and kindness
Aww thank you so much Eliza 😊😊
Nick as a 65-year-old man I learn so much from you. You bring a very good perspective from a professional therapist as well as a monk. Nobody’s perfect and I appreciate you helping myself and others. As a person who has had severe ADD my whole life and didn’t know it not having the music in the background is really helping me absorb Your thoughts.
I have many Thai relatives and friends that I wish could hear or read your thoughts.
When I see myself as separate, an individual, I tend to compare and compete.
When seeing and feeling the same as "others", as we are one, then self worth isn't a factor.
Daily I work on seeing things this way.
Thank you for being so thoughtful and caring to everyone. 💕
Wonderful Beverly! Keep it up 😊
I feel so helpless about global issues that are killing us! I feel a deep fear/rage. Appreciate all of your teachings! Saving my life!
Me too, I am struggling with focus and even eating is hard.
True self worth is really good.
😊😊😊
Teacher. 12/10. Life really is a lesson of success and miss. Somedays I outperform myself and I am able to bow at my feet. Other days I seem to be on the lazy side.
Thank you for sharing these trove of wisdom. It’s a practise it’s a refinement it’s a journey. When will it end I really do not know. But I will do my best day after day to refine my thoughts and action.
Transference of merit to teacher. Health, focus and resolve to Teacher path. May you continue to gain wisdom and be able to share with us.
Love you dear Nick 🙏🏼 this has to be some of the most clear and practical advice on RUclips yet 😅
Work on your physical skills as we live in a physical world - these don’t happen overnight but through a step by step approach a daily routine of practice. Time is part of the physical world so we need to give time to develop in the physical realm.
Then comes the hidden gem 💎 in each and everyone of us- the spiritual realm hidden in our depths of existence- found through contemplation, gratitude and a daily dose of quiet time to be within.
Thank you 🙏🏼 so much
Wonderfully stated phoebe. We can cultivate both realms in a relaxed and loving way 😊
Heartfelt thanks to you for sharing all your wisdom and encouragement.
It’s my pleasure! Thank you so much 😊
Life is made out of choices and conscious decisions. As long as you live with the rewards and consequences from those decisions. I always live by those words day to day.
This was indeed very helpful Venerable Nick🙏Many many thanks for the encouragement 🪷
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much 😊
You are reminding of a verse in the Dhammapada: "Man delights in craving and false values. The awakened are free from both."
My point: What are we basing our self-worth upon?
For me, this teaching is a confirmation regarding my reflection this morning. In summary: It all gets down to self-esteem and/or self-worth. The way that we respond to anything, even suffering and how we bear it, is reflective of these.
Thank you for today's beautiful message Your inner joy is evident 🙏🏻✨️
Aww thank you so much Alison 😊😊
Thank you. This has been a great timing, I was just literally crying over everything. I hope everyone who's watching will be better!
I hope it was helpful my friend 😊
Clear and neutral, get to work. I also found a goal that was very exciting and deeply meaningful to me. This gave me something to organize around and work for. Now I find it easier to work toward another similar goal.
Your words are like therapy session 😊😇

Thank you for an interesting video🙏
Sadhu sadhu. Thank you so much Marie😊
Where I am currently. If I look candidly, free of anything that can distract and be an impediment, I am in a good place. While I mean this humbly, I am in a better place than most.
A professional occupation that I enjoy and serves others, a great financial safety net, which I am regularly expanding, stable housing, enough to eat, reliable transportation, in good health, a spiritual life, few cares and no worries, no toxic people in my personal life. I am blessed and fortunate.
You make me laugh in the middle of giving a very intense message.... I love that about your teachings. BTW, I watched to the very end and was not disappointed. Your words were uplifting at a moment I needed to hear and receive them. Peace
We make our own purpose in life. Nobody can tell us what that is but us.
Your experience in the western world is a great asset towards truly understanding the implications of a fast-paced society that emphasizes its focus on external desires and expectations. Continuing with this mentality will only deter us from feeling fulfilled and worthy.
Sadhu sadhu. Thank you so much 😊
Start doing it……
Is the hardest part for me. Even though I know the benefits. 🐛🦋
😊😊
Oh this is, again, for me. I am so overwhelmed that I've thought about just not being here. I've not listened to all this yet but I've been off Facebook for years, I see it as a bane on society. I'm just so tired.
It is said that, "Patience is a virtue". Something I really lack. I acknowledge it and have been and will continue to work on it. Thank you Brother Nick. 🙏😌
Wonderful my friend 😊
Goodness Nick!! You are such a good person full of wisdom I enjoy your talk 😊
Thank you so much! Started the work and going trough a lot of grief and self loathing, so your kind words are very helpful. Namaste 🙏
You’re welcome! I’m glad it’s helpful 😊
You are right. You are exactly where you should be in your life Nick. God, (Budha ) has you exactly where you should be in your life. You are a blessing thank you.
Thank you so much Sharilyn! Hope you are doing well 😊
"Be patient with ourselves and judge neutrally"- invaluable wisdom.🙏
Thank you teacher. Introspection. 28/8.
North Star, validation, foundation is values.
How authentic I am.
You are right it gets coloured by the 5 senses.
What to do?
Patience, bury head to the precepts, meditation. Be kind. Not look for end point.
Be presence. Stillness.. calm…neutral observation. Press on with practise.
😊😊
Thank you. Somehow I need to watch your videos regulary and build a routine.

There has to be something more I'm not getting. I know where my life needs care....but you're right, I'm not caring enough for myself. I feel like giving is so good and what I (we all ) should be doing. Ok, no judgment...but taking the steps seem so exhausting

Nick, you bring peace and joy into this world. I always feel I belong in this world because of your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much my friend. I’m glad it’s helpful 😊
An "exciting life" is not equivalent to a "meaningful life."
I would not call my life exciting but it is definitely meaningful. I am state employee in Tennessee and a caseworker for solely military veterans.
To put my job succinctly, I work to make their lives better in every area- employment, education, training, housing, food, therapy. Of course, I don't provide these services but connect the vet to them.
Nothing brings more joy than when a vet says, "got that job, my own apartment, finished my training, I graduated."
One cannot put a price tag on it, and I am earning a comfortable living in the midst of all of that. I would say that I am wealthy 😉
I love this what a beautiful message your a amazing person ❤ thank you this made me feel better ❤️
Thank you so much linette 😊😊
Right on Time! I've been fight against myself, especially the ideia of not been good or strong enough. Well, I hope that I can proof to me that I can be what I will to be by stand off judgement and be more neutral . Thank you for the perspective.
You’re welcome Gary 😊 thank you
Ven Nick, Thank you so much for your beautiful reminders. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others. Your teaching is so real and awesome.
Thank you so much 😊
Good morning Nick every time I see your video inspired me to learn that is a lot of things I can make my life better and to be better I been at home with the injured since September 26 and my life stopped and washing your speech motivated me because the loneliness but I grow mentally because of you been like a mentor to me and I really appreciate thank you when I see my self 😊
Good morning Milagro. Thank you so much and I’m glad the videos are helpful. You’re doing wonderful and please going my friend. Do not give up. Just take it one day at a time 😊😊
Thank you for your ongoing wonderful teaching Ven. Nick ❤
One of the biggest lessons I have learned in DBT therapy, is that a life worth living is built on living according to our own values (not the values or morals of others).
As we allow our own values to guide our actions, we will inevitably live a fulfilling life.
As we accumulate successes based on listening to and fulfilling our values, we build self-confidence and self-esteem.
In this light, it is impossible to compare yourself to others because each of us have different values (or put difference importance on those values). Our values are part of us from birth, and are uniquely ours.
Note: the actions we take based on our values need to be effective in the long term.. so based on wisdom. You accumulate this wisdom through practicing mindfulness and building skillfulness.
Thank you so much Kerry 😊😊
Hi Nick! Great to see you man! I think it is human nature for people to compare themselves to others. It definitely comes more naturally to a person to compare themselves to others than it does to NOT do so. At the same time I think it can be healthy to compare yourself to someone that has something you want or has gained something you haven't. But it must be kept in check. A fine line between idolizing someone and being jealous.
Yes we need to use wisdom to assess the situation and use the information in a way that is beneficial for us 😊
Thank you Nick. All your videos are so good and speak to many directly. You have such a calming presence. I intend to travel to Thailand next year !
Venerable Nick thank you so much for this message and all the other teachings that you've put on RUclips. You are a blessing to all of us seeking Enlightenment and wisdom. You truly have a gift for teaching.
Sadhu sadhu. Thank you so much mark. That’s very kind of you 😊
Thank you, Venerable Nick. I struggle terribly with self worth. Especially what you call external self worth. Internally I know I'm trying to be a good person but what I perceive as my external reflection of that is my difficulty. I will watch this video again to try and investigate this. Sadhu. 🙏
Thank you so much Ven Nick. Every video of yours is so meaningful & so wise. It's like a refreshing course for us to improve our personal life as well as spiritual path. Sadhu 🙏. May you be well & safe.
Aww thank you so much April! 😊😊
