16 Compute Units and 16MB of Infinity Cache are not enough to account for the very weak 64-bit memory bus. Only thing that impresses me about the 6500XT is that the chip itself is only about 25% bigger than a Zen 3 CPU core chiplet, or nearly 3 times smaller than GTX 1650 Super chip.

@@ejkk9513 , Frequency is only one limiter. The voltage degradation over time is one reason why limits are put in place. Would you take another 5% overclock if the card lasted only one year? They estimate the average longevity, stability etc and then come up with reasonable limits... it's not just NVidia/AMD as remember the card manufacturers have WARRANTIES so they don't want cards failing.
@@photonboy999 That's not entirely true. To push over 3ghz, you have to use liquid cooling or LN2. Only extreme overclockers would be able to reach those speeds. Casual P.C users wouldn't have the knowledge, or probably, hardware to reach the hard limit. The Powercolor Liquid Devil 6900xt has a 4ghz limit set by Powercolor for extreme overclockers. Long story short, the only people who would be pushing past the limit are true professionals who know that they are voiding their warranty. So I ask again... why limit them? Casuals would never be at risk of destroying their card through this method.
Looking at both these cards makes me think apu need to improve to cover all 1080p gaming. Amd has the tech hell keep chip separate and integrate into motherboards. Adding series s gpu into a motherboard would probably raise price $70. I am glad i got a gaming laptop 6 months ago is all i can say.

rx 6500xt is a LOT cheaper than 1650 super in the UK. In fact its the same price or cheaper than the 1650 (non super). I know this card is getting a LOT of hate but can we really compare to how market was 2 years ago? or compare to the market TODAY. Once prices go up, they never come all the way back down and the budget cards will HARDLY change cost wise at all. The next step up e.g. 6600 is so much more expensive. Honestly I don't know what else people would buy for a new rig. For an olderpci express 3 rig, sure get the 1650 instead. You can slap that into a cheap ex office pc and game.
why use intel? i thought ryzen + Radeon has advantage with SAM?
well looks like ill stick to my 4 GB 570 for a while until prices drop then ill get the 8GB 570 shoulda picked it instead before the price hikes but I was on a budget and the 570 4Gb I have handles all the games I play.
For 300€ you get xbox series s that runs majority of games 1080p 60fps or even 1440 and will continur to do so for at least 8 years.
Is it practical to compare these GPU running at locked or similar clock speed? the 6500 xt runs cooler most of the time compared to the 1650 super. I wonder if the 6500 xt will run even cooler with lower clock speed and still perform the same.
No, you reduce the clock speed, you lose performance.
PCIe 3.0 for the 6500XT right?
no, Asus ROG Maximus Z690 Hero don't have PCI 3.0, only 1 x PCI-E 4.0 x16 (x4) and 2 x PCI-E 5.0 x16
Oh so having a pci3.0 mobo i should never swap my 1650Super for the new 6500XT, or am i missing something
@@thereallpb You should never!! On PCIe 3.0 this thing barely beats a 1050ti (and sometimes performs worse, go see Hardware Unboxed review if you want more detail)

@@pablolarreategui9489 Laptops tend to overheat and lose battery capacity very fast when you game, and they also need to be light and convenient to carry. Because of that laptop hardware has noticeable consumption limitations. which version of PCI generation is this for testing rx 6.5k xt ?
PCI 4.0 according to his tech specs, but he did lie about the test itself and left out the fact he oced the 1650 super, resizable bar was not enabled as it is not possible with his configuration, he is also using corsair RGB which depends on a application that kills performance. Deep looking at the footage for the nvidia card it is obvious that looseless image scaling is going on. I am not sure which method or which exact tool they are using but I have one that costs $5 on steam, it gives FSR support to non-FSR games, I bought it before RSR, but you can use FSR on either cards, and you can use various other looseless image compression methods for your games with the tool. It comes in handy sometimes but very rarely now unless raytracing.
That's a closer match than I thought.
Is this pci 3.0 or 4.0?
I buy the 166o super 4 years a go. The price was 150€ used.

appreciate the effort, but nobody is buying a 12600k, DDR5 and a Z690 board going is to run these cards. Test PCIe 3.0, where most are looking to buy this class of card or at best a ryzen 3600 on B550.
is this tested in PCIE 3 ?

FYI ppl, this is tested on a pcie 4.0 platform. If you have a Pcie 3.0 which most of us prolly will, discount 10-18 fps for the 6500.
Nope
honestly the performance is quite good for how cold the card stays
Makes you wonder how much more performance AMD could have squeezed out of it by increasing the core clock, number of lanes, etc.
@@thymelord8353 from what I have been able to gather. It seems this gpu was designed from the get-go to be in a laptop @ pcie 4.0x4 lanes. It simply was never designed with more lanes. It's the third week of January, there may be something else to come out in a few months. Rumors of the RX6500xt only started in November and now here it is. The 6500xt still impressive despite only being 4 lanes. Still wait for a benchmark paired with either a 3000 or 5000 series amd processor. Keep in mind it's not 2018 when you could literally get a GPU any where
It only holds up on pcie gen 4 though. Otherwise it shits the bed
Actually, not really, if you are buying this card, means you probably have a PCIE 3.0 system and waiting for your platform to die before upgrading the whole system.
oh i agree and its a good that breaking into Pcie gen 4 is low cost either AMD or Intel. AMD offers better features on low end boards exp ( ASrock B550 Phantom) is great board for $100. and there a number of good intel boards at 130. all with pcie 4. and changing out a motherboard it easy and fun. I just saying that a lot the reviewer of the 6500xt $199.99are comparing it to their spoiled 3080 or better cards which are $1500 or more. some are using 1650 which the is currently at least 250 if your lucky most are 300 plus

nobody would pair this gpu with your cpu 12600k... so the 1650 super will actually be faster if the 6500xt will be slotted into a 3.0 board. very abysmal videocard in 2022
To many limiting factors with this GPU. Not good for 1080p gaming on modern titles might as well get a console . Need to save your pennys and go for the 6600xt. With over clock is a lil beast for 1080p gaming

The 6500 has more temperature headroom, overclocking would be interesting
It can have increased performance when OC'd, but even that could be also cucked by the limited bandwidth.
Too bad AMD artificially limited it's overclocking headroom. Read the review for techpowerup.
It runs at 2800mhz, maximum allowable frequency is 3000mhz. AMD for whatever reason limited the overclocking head room with drivers. That's stupid considering how high they've pushed clock speeds with RDNA2!
@@ejkk9513 ,
Frequency is only one limiter.
The voltage degradation over time is one reason why limits are put in place. Would you take another 5% overclock if the card lasted only one year? That's how it works.
I am glad i got a gaming laptop 6 months ago is all i can say.

both are above 270$
Well it depends entirely on region, so if that's the normal price even for the re-sale market then you'll have to either downgrade or give in to a more flexible price, or wait even longer, which if you don't have a gpu I recommend checking something from the power of 1650 - 1050ti, or even older more stronger cards like the 970, 980, other then that waiting is the best strat here, good luck fellow!
