I bought my 1660 Super one week before the 3000 series was "released". I knew I couldn't possibly buy any of the release day 3000 series, even the MSRP levels. I needed a GPU now and I didn't have enough money to buy the 2060 Super. My GTX 1660 Super was much cheaper and at least in some benchmarks only 15% or so slower. So I bought the GTX 1660 Super for 212 Euros or something. I'm glad I did as it's a great card for the money. While NVidia doesn't allow DLSS on it, with AMD's FSR, where available, I get about the same results. It's great on any 1080p or 1440p title I have tried yet. Now, if I didn't have it and I was about to buy a GPU and was to pick between the RTX 3050 and the 1660 Super...I think I would go for the RTX 3050 for the extra VRAM. Well, if they cost about the same. The RTX 3050 is not on sale yet around here so I don't know for how much it will go. The GTX 1660 Super can be found here now for 500+ euros. If the RTX 3050 can be found for around the MSRP, there is no contest. But if the price of it rises to match the BS current price of the GTX 1660 Super, then as I mentioned earlier since the RTX 3050 is the better choice, I would wait to get something faster. I refuse to pay 500+ euros for this level of performance.
@@drebob2622 In terms of performance they are about the same, though it looks like the 3050 is slightly faster. T E M P E R A T U R E. Reasons to buy RTX 3050: Ray Tracing, DLSS, Low Temperatures, New Technology. Performance is almost the same in some games. 1660 Super still being a good option.
I'm new to these pc stuff and all. So I'm a bit confused, according to the video the 3050 performed better. But why are people still saying here in the comments that the 1660 super is a better buy?
The reason why they're talking about the 1660 super, is because it was release 3 years ago and its still almost matching to the 3050 performance, but the 3050 has more features like DLSS, RTX, and most importantly more vram. But when it comes to pricing i think you can get better deals from the 1660 super, but not that much in difference.
@@baraadw6959 To add on with what you were saying: 3050 is handicapped by only being wired up with 8 lanes of PCIE express. Not a problem on MBs that have PCIE 4.0. 1660 Super has the full-fat 16x, so it can function on a 3.0 slot just fine. To put it in other words, you could have potentially used a card like the 1660S to upgrade a entry level office PC (most go for 1650 because no PSU pcie cable required, but whatever) could function fine on a 2.0 slot. Considering other bottlenecks a system limited to an anemic 2.0 pcie bus would also carry with it (Intel 2nd/3rd generation etc.) This is now the same problem gamers will face when using a 3050 on most MBs released pre-2020. Handicapped maximum GPU speed.
@@Fin4L6are the point of the card is it offers Dlss for better performance on newer games. The exact reason someone like me with a 1660 super would be even looking at one. So again. Test dlss

Is DLSS turned on this test for the RTX 3050? it better not, otherwise this card is even weaker than the 1660 super and the DLSS is the one doing the 5 FPS extra here.
I used to think DLSS was a magical option you can use in all games to get extra FPS. But no. The majority of games need ray tracing activated to enable DLSS, so you lose FPS for ray tracing, and recover some FPS for DLSS. Also DLSS is meant to play at 1440p or 4K, scaled from 1080p. If you use DLSS playing at 1080p, the image will be scaled from 720p or 560p... so it will looks blurry. I know people that never enable ray tracing nor DLSS even with a 3060 ti, because the performance decrease. Another thing is, if you search how many games support ray tracing... they are just a few games. It's a very inmature technology.
La gráfica onboard 3050 no sirve. Por eso salió tan barata. Y la de escritorio debe ser igual. Todos sabemos que la 3050 nunca rindió lo que debería. Ésto lo confirma.
Its about what I expected. We are hitting a point that the more processing power does not equal an equivalent graphical increase. Its the law of delimiting returns and that is why the GTX1080 is still a beast today. If you have a 1050 from like 6 years ago you can play most modern games at 1080 with most high setting enabled. You might not hit 60pfs all the time, but it will still be very playable.. ..If you have a 3080 your most likely good for the next 8 years...

@@johnjay6370 You are right, John. I remember those days too, and I don't understand why people are so stickler about 60fps. Yeah, sure, if you play FPS games all the time (like COD series or CS: GO) then I understand the need of 60+fps, but if you play slower paced games, like AC series, Days gone, Legend of Zelda, or any other advanture game, then you won't feel very much of a difference between 30+ and 60+ FPS, and it won't change your gameplay experience that much. Even movies are captured in 24FPS and they look smooth, and I think that if your graphics card can output constant 24+fps, then you can say, that you can play most games with playable, normal experience.
Why? Temperature is just different on every card. These two cards are not equipped with the same heatsink-fan assembly and not tuned to the same temperature-PWM curve.

I'm really wondering why you're limiting the VRAM usage in every game? Run them all on high or ultra settings straight up so we can see them run at capacity without overclocking. Some of these games are cpu dependent as well. Level the field at least.
If a game requires more vram than a card has, there will be a massive frame drop and lots of stuttering so that's probably why.
@@thelonelyowl2654 these cards have 8gb and 6gb VRAM, so they're not even close to max. The settings are not all on the highest possible. That's what I'm saying.

Great video, so it looks like 3050 is an OK card but not a card of the future for sure IDK at $300+ it would hold you over. But next year 2023 it might not look like such a good deal. Grain of salt maybe? In this market you could look like a genius too LOL.
50 series cards are never cards for the future. But budget kings, 1050ti, 750ti ect were always go to cards for people. In this market its a great option if you can get it close to msrp.
Same bro
So the 1660 super is just as good as the 3000 series. So if I was going for a budget build I should pick up the super?
@@drebob2622 In terms of performance they are about the same, though it looks like the 3050 is slightly faster. This does not take into consideration that the 3050 natively supports (hardware) raytracing, even though obviously not as good as faster cards. It also natively supports DLSS, which is important, just not as much in games which support FSR which the 1660 Super can use too. If found at the same price (low) price, go for the 3050. If not, go for the hopefully much cheaper one.

@@baraadw6959 To add on with what you were saying:
3050 is handicapped by only being wired up with 8 lanes of PCIE express. Considering other bottlenecks a system limited to an anemic 2.0 pcie bus would also carry with it (Intel 2nd/3rd generation etc.)
This is now the same problem gamers will face when using a 3050 on most MBs released pre-2020. Handicapped maximum GPU speed.
