E36 gets Coilovers, Bushings, and a tune, PLUS DRIFT TESTED!

- Today we worked on the E36 How to Drift car.
Installed BC Racing BR-Type Coilovers with 10k front springs and 12k rear springs.
Then we fixed our rear toe change problem with some Syncro Design Works trailing arm bushings.
Our tune was junk so we got a RKTunes ALL IN tune with burbly exhaust on decel for the ultimate RICE.
Finally we flew the car over to Mexico and tested it at the track!

Chelsea DeNofa I'm just curious and I know it doesn't matter since I know what engine it has but is the model 325i, 325is with the m3 sport suspension, or 328i? I guess it's possible it could be 323i but I doubt it. Just wondering🤷🏽♂️

Yup, those were Raceland Ultimos! Same as I have. For $400, they're not bad especially when you've got stock suspension with 175k on it and it's all blown.
Would love to go up to some BCs but not quite ready to chuck $1k into my suspension. :( Have to fix all the other nonsense that breaks on E36s first haha.

Interested to hear your opinions on sway bars for e46's, i'm running stock suspension with lowered springs and plan on upgrading sways, front/rear or both and can you go too stiff for daily driver/track split duty?

Does Synchro Design Works make the same bushings for E46? I have a 99 323i 4dr n wana replace all the rear bushings with those cus those would be perfect for my car

I'm so bummed out about the fact that E46 control arms just fit on the E36 and there's no such thing for E46s. You have to spend 1k+ for a complete kit, even if all you want is a wider track and more camber.
I did the whammy bar on my e36. Shit works pretty good for what it is.

This video is like a godsend for me. Busy driftifying an E36 right now. How well does the handbrake extension work? I have a partshop max hydro to install, but if the standard brake with an extender works well, I'd rather do that.

Its used to slow the car or move the car to a wide line in drift. I try to never use it besides in tandem. But sometimes ill use it to run a wider line in qualifying.

Great video! One question about the ebrake setup -- is it stock? I always have trouble locking the rears with the stock e36 ebrake, or do you just need the extra leverage provided by the long handle?

Hey Chelsea, I'm the video you mention that the e46 control arms are an upgrade on the e36. I want to swap over to them. But what is the solution for the tie rods. In the forums people have swapped to an e46 tie rod, e34 tie rod, and e90 tie rod. What do I do as far as the inner or outer tie rods. There is also a spacer option. What do you recommend. the car kinda does a crab walk and bobbles in mid drift unless you have a shit ton of toe and acronym spacers and wisefab eliminates the front swaybar and hes huge on having a front sway bar and a couple other things i think
Awhh ok i see! So you can run a sway bar with SLR? What stops you from running a sway bar with Wisefab?
I don't like their cheap water jetted design, its brittle, it has no sway bar provision, terrible caster trail, 0 Ackerman, and a a lot more

Do the BC Coils normally come with 10k/12k for the e36? I've noticed a lot of coilovers for BMWs don't take into consideration the lever arm for the coilover mount in the rear.

I bought a 92 325i last night and I was sliding it a little bit because it was raining and a hose popped off the radiator and snapped off the piece that the hose is suppose to go on. What should I do? Get another stock radiator or upgraded

Yea, get an aftermarket alloy radiator. It'll be your best bet. While you're in there get a metal water pump if you don't already have it, and check the clutch fan.

fuel injection is so confusing to me, how do you know what cc to upgrade your injectors to?
You can select whatever you want as long as the car is tuned for it.
Chelsea DeNofa So I can run let's say the stock injectors are 370cc I can run 550 or something as long as it gets tuned and my fuel system is able to run it?
You kinda got it, I'm running 1200cc injectors and make on 550 whp. I still get 24mpgs.. All things are possible with the right ecu (AEM Infinity) and Tuner.
Although if you go big and cheap tuning for idle and really low loads might be hard. Just ask your tuner or a shop for help. Also -> www.finjector.com/en/injector-calculator/
Can anyone compare using Turner RTAB limiters (on stock RTABs) to using these Syncro Design Works RTABs?

How does the Syncro Design Works RTAB handle daily driving vibrations? My Delrin FCABs are indestructible, but the vibrations in them (from daily driving) busted my FCA ball joints prematurely... so I was wondering about this Syncro Design Works RTAB - whether something similar'll happen or not?

That's a stupid question. Of course you do, strut bars, sway bars, adjustable suspension so that you can get grip without getting a ton of roll, and have a car that's planted and feels connected to the road and not feeling like you should be wearing flippy floppies (because you are on a boat).
Michael Wyz strut bars are not that important. Only if you have weak towers like the 36/46 is it actually a big deal.

My bad. I guess the intake mani fooled me. I thought S50's came with ITB's. and looks like yours had an M50 intake manifold with single throttle body. I stand corrected.
