      Well said! I was going to write a comment at less than two mins in, but I read yours right away and you took the words right out of my mouth! I have ALWAYS had huge eyes. My grandma, bless her soul in heaven, told me that I had bug eyes or frog eyes. One time when I was passionately describing something to my brother, he made the closing motion with his hands while saying “Whoa, close ‘em down Trac, shut those band boys a little! You’re freaking me out!” And it’s still a running joke in our family. I also suffer from BFRB (Body Focused Repetitive Behavior) like nail biting (which I remedy with fake nails 365 days a year) and trichotillomania (which means I obsessively pull out my eyelashes). Luckily, I have FINALLY figured out these false eyelashes and how to apply them with fake nails! Like, as in yesterday! And I feel so much better when I look in the mirror with the falsies on! I mean, I’m still HUGE, and need to lose weight BIG TIME, but THAT is a side effect of getting clean and sober. Im approaching 5.5 years this month! So, it’s time to shed the weight. But I’m super excited to see how you do your eye makeup! But I must admit, I DON’T do matte anything. That’s the only part I’ll change though! Thanks for reading! Sorry for the biography! 😂

    My eyes are so round and protruding that they have own under-eye sacks that carry all the fine lines and wrinkles. Not to mention that they make the eye socket so prominent and bring out all the creases and shadows around them, looking like a Tim Burton character 😂 There is such a fixation on crafting bigger eyes with makeup in the beauty world, but people with actual big eyes know the struggles and insecurities that came with having them because more often than not, they aren't the cartoonish Disney Princess big eyes everyone idolises but are more producing and round, with evident bags. The world is full of contradictions, I guess. But as the big-eyed community that has a history of being bullied, being called 'bug-eyes', it's important to embrace them because there is little we can actually do. And now, people want big eyes more than ever, whilst we were born with them 🤗

    • @SamYoungMedia
      @SamYoungMedia  3 года назад +5

      The Tim Burton character line got me 😅 that’s a good comparison lol. But that just makes us hauntingly beautiful in a way that stays with people 😉 Im so thankful for this comment. Keep rocking those god given eye balls of beauty babe 👀

    I have protruding eyes since I was 14, because that's when my hyperthyroidism settled in very harshly. When my eyes "went back inside" a little, the skin under them - so much stretched - was left really wrinkly. I have to overcome it, because not even now, at 21, I don't like all this excess skin and how bulged my eyes are (to the point where they hurt sometimes :)) Thank you very much for this, I needed it. ❤️

    Sam, this was by far the best eye makeup tutorial for big prominent and/or protruding eyes I’ve yet to see. As you can see I have BIG prominent eyes and I love them, but sometimes I just want to wear mascara and eyeliner- no eye shadow. You gave me some good ideas. On days I’m not in the mood to wear eye shadow, I’ll still use a black eye shadow to line the bottom lid and outer corner of my eyes, and put some mascara on my upper and lower eye lashes. I do have thick, long natural eye lashes, so when I use a thickening and voluminous mascara on my lashes it does deepen my eyes and set them back a little. Again, thanks so much for this tutorial. I’ll try these tips today.

    ugh. LOL anyway, thank you for existing on the internet + for doing this tutorial! 🖤
    i'm just getting into makeup for the first time in my 30s + apparently have every uncommon feature on one face, making this quest that much more difficult.
    i'm on the verge of giving up but hoping this tutorial will help enough to give me the patience + encouragement i need to keep going.

    Terrific video. Thank you! I have found that building up my eyebrows helps balance prominent eyes to the point where if I do build up my eyebrows, nothing exaggerated at all or too dark, it almost looks like my eyes are deeper set because the brow comes forward. It's important to come in to where your eyes starts in the inner corner. As I say, nothing exaggerated just full and beautiful! I hope that helps somebody else.

    Much love and glad I found this vid - I can never, ever find actual advice for my eye shape, and when one has come to hate it, hearing "oh but you should be GRATEFUL because others would LOVE to have all that lid space!!!" does not help! Personally, I've found the "fox eye" trend to be a very useful tool for the lifting effect, as I've always gotten comments of looking tired or sick (to which I always mentally replied, "I'm fine and you're in smacking distance") - but it's a little tricky to do because with this eye shape, I also notice that having little folds/creases at the outer edge of the eyelid is common, which of course can wreck havoc on things like winged liner... but that said, I'd been doing it with the liner only because I had no idea how to handle the shadow, and the same technique that gets parroted all over RUclips doesn't help :D

      Oh, btw - think I've tracked this trait (among others on mine and my mother's faces) to possibly Greek heritage... I seem to see it most in peoples from the regions that surround the Mediterranean and Black Seas... and often paired with the enigmatic Olive Skin Undertone! (which I also have)

      I'm so glad to hear you got something out of it! It is a tricky eye shape to tackle with makeup, but I plan on coming out with multiple videos about this eye shape simply because I see there is a huge lack of content for it. I'm no expert, and like you said there isn't a ton of new information out there right now that I can learn from, so I just ask for your patience (and suggestions) while I try to figure it out myself. I love all of the wonderful big eyed beauties like you who have commented on the video so far showing their encouragement. I really appreciate it, my love :) I see your struggle, but you are a gorgeous goddess :* thanks for sharing!

    The creasing under your eyes is considered really beautiful in Korea and girls literally contour/shadow under their eyes to create that. Just search "aegyo sal makeup" :) I also have that crease and use makeup techniques to enhance it and make it look more blended. It doesn't really make my eyes look more protruding as long as I use the right techniques on my eyelids.
    I've also found that using a mascara booster underneath the mascara helps to hide my big eyelids behind the lashes better. Also focusing on just using the mascara on the outer eyelashes creates a more horizontal appearance (almond shape).
    Edit: I also forgot curling! You gotta curl your lashes because it forces them up higher and helps to hide the eyelids.

      There’s a difference between protruding and deep set eyes, and the difference is between how the brow bone protrudes vs how the eyelid protrudes. For me to tell I feel like she would have to turn to the side and from what I saw in the video, her eyelid protrudes more. So she has protruding eyes. I hope that makes sense lol

    First video Ive watched of yours, I like your energy. I dont have protruding eyes (I think), but mine are round, close, and deep set. No wonder my eyeshadow has looked weird to me for years. Funny thing is, Ive always loved doing work in the crease. And yet thats the part of my eyes thats hardest to do besides the outer V. Ive realized not long ago, that I probably dont even need to do crease work because my eyes are deep set already.

    • @SamYoungMedia
      @SamYoungMedia  3 года назад +2

      Taylor Williams thanks for watching, I’m really glad you enjoyed the energy of the video! 💛
      I think I need to do a video explaining the differences between deep set and prominent eyes as well as a video dedicated to deep set eyes. There are some differences for sure. And I see what you’re saying, deep set eyes have a lot of natural shadow in the crease and don’t need much help creating depth. But I do think applying eyeshadow there could still be useful! If I were you, I’d play with bringing the crease shade up onto the brow bone a bit. That may give the illusion that the crease is level with the brow bone, rather than being significantly pushed back. I’ll play with the idea for a video for sure 😊
