- Zeus presents Atic Atac (un-emulated) for the zx spectrum, a true classic from the golden era of spectrum gaming which must not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game.
Year of release: 1983
Well it's a new year, 2014, and a fresh start for the Zeusdaz unemulated game channel.
For six months I was carrying a copyright strike, today it was finally removed and now I can once again upload videos longer than 15mins! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zeus is back with a vengeance and I can get on with doing what I do best on here,...uploading longplays unemulated!!!!
To kick off 2014, I decided to upload the spectrum classic Atic Atac, a brilliantly designed game with great playability and return factor.
Guide your man around the many rooms and levels of the castle, avoiding nasties such as Frankenstein, Dracula, Mummy and many other unpleasant things whilst trying to locate the 3 pieces of key which will allow you to escape the castle.
What you are seeing here is the first ever time I have completed this, no cheats were used, I know others out there can do it in just a few minutes but I don't care, i'm chuffed I actually completed it :-)
Hope all you Spectrum fans enjoy this upload.
Please note: NONE of my game uploads are emulated in any way whatsoever, they are 100% original recordings by myself taken directly from the original hardware the game was intended for, that way you know you're watching the real thing.
I will also always state weather i am using any cheats in the game, if not mentioned then i am not using any.
Check out my channel ( / zeusdaz , dedicated to gamers who loved the games of yesteryear.
Switch to 480p for best video quality and feel free to leave comments on my channel and vid's. - Игры
One of my favourite Speccy games. Great concept and playability, high replay value. Remarkable considering the constraints of the system, and proof that you don't need fancy graphics and sound to deliver a classic!
Agreed, you can have flashy graphics and great music but if there's no playability then It's a dudd.
this was an all time classic game in the halls of fame.
I used to play this all the time, my favourite from the ZX Spectrum and I used to fall down the hole on purpose sometimes. Oh to be 7-9 again.
oh yep! 8 again and that beeper sound, the smell of the new plastic tape, and this classic game until the eyes where heavy...
"We had and still have the most loyal fans. As soon as we
released one game, we would receive orders (and even payments)
for 'The Next Ultimate Game' even before any announcements had
been made! It was very gratifying, but it caused our sales team all
sorts of headaches not knowing which game each customer had just
played and which game they wanted next! We often sent out free
posters or other Ultimate merchandise as a thank you to those fans
waiting in anticipation for the next release."
-- The Stamper Brothers (Atic Atac developers, Utimate Play the Game)
Thanks for adding the comment! I first came across your brand via friends with Spectrums and Jet Pac. Then you released Jet Pac for the Vic - 20....And from your magazine advert I'm sending a cheque to Ashby de La Zouch! Where's that when you're 12?? Probably a high tech village I thought. 3 days' postage rather than 4 weeks? Revolutionary. Like a personal gift. I wasn't disappointed.
I got free posters more than once after sending hand written letters in my best 9-yr-old's pencil cursive. Loved the artwork style, and the games.
🎉I played it when I was 10 or something. Never could get to the end:) Just enjoyed the gameplay. Sweet memories unlocked, thanks.
The colour clash on the Speccy was so annoying at the time, but seeing it again brings back fond memories. I loved this game, and all the other "Ultimate" games for that matter. They were streets ahead of most other Speccy games of the time.
Def one of the Top 10 games ever made along with Quake and Doom
we used to write own programms on the spectrum after our "skool", and before bedtime always atic atac - i still hear the sound of the 48k beeper... sound of many youths...
Gamers born after the year 2000 don't know they're born.
I loved that game as a kid. Thanks for uploading!
Trevor Hale No problem :-)
I loved this along with other speccy games, the first being chequered flag and horice goes skiing. Just brings back so many memories
The first computer game I ever played (1984). Bought my own Spectrum 21st of Jan 1986. Loved it.
Trivia: The game was one of Tim Child's inspirations behind his popular ground breaking Dungeons and Dragons theme gameshow Knightmare that aired on CITV in the UK from 1987 - 1994.
earlier spectrum games look better now when looking back as they didnt stretch the hardware so much. later games lacked colour due to a pathological fear of colour clash and tended to move more slowly too - not as smooth as this for starters
Best game ever and still very playable today for the Speccy. :)
Well played
I got this game on Rare Replay, it's a cool game still in 2015
great video - congratulationt
Much of the in game sound is like Delia Derbyshire's Way Out. Very advanced sounding for a Spectrum.
That ending! 😂
'The Completion' was always a big thing for us and that was just pathetic/non-existent!
This was one of the best looking games for the Spectrum, I think. And "ACG".... memorable.

This was the very first time I completed it,...what a stroke of luck considering I was recording it to upload :-)
The avatar's movement inertia was really novel and special for a game of that era.
Very nice game. Looks like some clever coding on the developers part, with the mix of pseudo projected environments and 2D sprites.. Great idea for the constraints of classic 8bit systems.
Yes. Working very well with the constraints here. Smooth gameplay. Cool jagged walls. Bouncing weapons. Big maze. Mysterious atmosphere. And an image of a turkey as energy indicator!
Brilliant..just brilliant...love to be teen again....👍
That's what the nurses said when I was born, just brilliant.
this was in rare replay on xbox one i liked it pretty good game for being made in 1983
Ultimate (precursor of Rare) were frontrunners!
"Ultimate Play the game" games are worth being revived like you do, Well donne bro !!!
Thanks :-)
This is very similar to Wizard's Lair, which I used to play a lot. Never understood why those stupid doors wouldn't open straight away.
You needed to find a coloured key that corresponded to the door.
I like it. Good gameplay. How did you memorize the maze?
this should be ported to the mobile devices !!! same as chuckie egg should too!!!
All my jeunesse !
Do you play your Speccy games on the keyboard only or do you also use joystick?
Fantastic video going to play it and more importantly drag my son of his gaming pc and make him play it as well
An absolute classic, even though this is the only time I've completed it :-(
My fav game on the spectrum, but I never understood what all the other things was supposed to do, I mean except the small keys and the parts of the big key.
I was hopeless at this game, this was the first and only time I completed it without cheats, gimme Chuckie Egg on the ZX any day!
I'd like to see this redone as a 1st person shooter.
Alien 8 next then!
RIP Clive Sinclair :(
Haha, I had this game and it was soo frustrating because it wouldn't load and I really wanted to know what the game was like when I was a kid. 😂
I had so many Spectrum games like that :D
Damn, how very dare you beat Atic Atac in less than 18 minutes !!
Is that good?! There are other runs on youtube quicker than this, however I do own the Bruce Lee WR speedrun on the spectrum :-D
@@ZEUSDAZ were you even trying? lol
I'm here cuz I just realised Goldeneye 64 has a hidden ZX Spectrum emulator
ATIC ATAC is source of inspirection for the game HALLOWEEN HAUNTE HOUSE, that and at there character must escape from the haunted castle where must find an especially key
The Binding of Isaac?!
Yes. They copied his idea before he even had it.
Kids today: "So where's the tutorial?"
ena najfakinboljših iger ever
Not really sure what that means but thanks for watching.
Atari Gauntlet stole this games ideas
