Hi Dave, cool to see Andrew has so many like minded people around him. Cool video especially because you can see the roller story from a different angle. Will follow you and your stories too. Greetings from Braunschweig in Germany
jeez the shenanigans we get up too when all of us get together and make a video is beyond amazing! Cameras filming each other, ignorable fires, full sending rollers up icy hills. fun times!!
50:22 maybe they didn’t use a cutting torch but they did roll it down a hill backwards, almost injuring/killing a friend. Andrew is reckless, he will cause a death eventually.
@Brian Jackson what are you talking about?? First off, he is the 1 and only RUclipsr, I follow…. Get your head out of your A$$ and stop saying dumb S#!T!!!
It looks strange seeing someone else work in Andrews workshop but you know your stuff Dave, very enjoyable. Subscribed and liked. Fellow RUclips in Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks, Matt looking at that cat on that lowboy heading to the shop/laydown yard. With a big smile, another great day and score. Thanks for having us along!
You two make a great team. Been watching AC for sometime now and now I have you also. I enjoy your format. Working with tools and not working the mouth too much.
Fantastic video. I watched Andrew's first, that was very sketchy. And a brilliant roller retrieval. Someone had heavy duty tackle. So cool to have it documented on YT.
Finally a working guy's video without endless yacking about what and how much they know and yada yada yada...Imagonna do this and Immagonna do that...etc etc etc.
Jumper cables build your own. Go to an electrical supply shop and buy your cable by the foot. They will probably have the heavy duty clips also. The cost is actually cheaper and the cables are far superior.
The reason the winch cable failed at +56:20 is that as the cable gets shorter the snatch block that the roller is chained to is pulling the cable sideways. As the cable gets straighter (and the snatch block is pulling more and more sideways on the winch cable) that causes the tension in the winch cable to rise exponentially. Pulling sideways on a cable can even cause the tension in the cable to exceed the tension that would be caused by just lifting the roller straight up off the ground. For example, when the angles between the roller, the winch, and the anchor tree are all equal (ie 120 degrees each) the tension in the cable is double what's actually pulling on the roller. The first set up at +55:30 (with the snatch block chained to the anchor tree, and the roller pulling inline on the winch cable) was in fact the correct setup, you just needed to use an anchor tree and chain that could withstand twice the force of the pull exerted on the roller.
Probably wiser to back it up hills next time, so that it's pulling the drum and you have more control, rather than driving it uphill drum-first and having it slide all over the place. That, and having the skidder pulling it for safety. The weight of that machine, the lack of traction and the smooth drum when leading make that a death trap running it up hills of frozen dirt and ice. No ROPS could mean things go bad fast if it starts to slide off one of those mountain hills and flips.
Did the Tripod break 'For No Reason'? Seriously though - Dave, you seem like a mighty handy guy to have around. Saw this demonstrated in an earlier episode when your dumpster truck got stuck in the mud at a Camarata Job site. Utterly amazing, thanks for all the great content!!
AC uses a formula that works. Set up the cam, give a brief description and get to work. I can see the same formula here. It makes for great viewing and I'll look forward to more of your adventures. Thanks.
To all the AC haters… why are you even watching this? It is after all STILL about Andrew and his equipment etc. Don’t dump on Andrew if you cannot do even a tenth of what he has achieved. And to those who don’t get his wry humor, the jokes on you!
Thank you Dave. You are a great mechanic/engineer… and friend. I reckon AC is not a conventional m/e but he borders on or is a genius in so many other ways… and a natural entertainer! I think his MO of buying old junky equipment which he repairs on a need-to basis ties in with his life’s plan and purpose of cutting his cloth to suit his clothes ie his start-up years requires fine budgeting, discipline and AC definitely has way above average perseverance and discipline.
Great video Dave👍 Really cool when you and Andrew hook up and tackle projects. That was a little bit too much to handle when the chain broke pulling the roller off the edge of the mountain 😅
I was wondering the whole time how these tires can still hold air. They are driven down to slicks without profile, they are very old and worn out, and they have intense dry rot on them everywhere. Two chains mounted together with the new tires would be very useful, but i think I remember Andrew mentioned that in one of his videos too. Tom 😎
What is the purpose for moving the roller to the top of the mountain when the road is not in good condition. I would think that waiting for warm weather to come.
"I don't like this" was a luxury to say as he jumped out of that machine. Much worse to be saying it as it was tumbling down the mountain. And he's done that before. Jumped out of a machine that was rolling down a mountain out of control. I really like Andrew's calm demeanor. I know he's only human but it's inspiring to me... his demeanor.
i was checking your tubing flaring and yes you used the double flaring kit you got the know how meaning that many people would try a use the single flir kit which works on plumbing but not for brakes and hydraulic lines lol i had to use my computer magnifier to see it because you never showed the flair after doing it
A little tip on cutting the water heater hose. Use a band clamp snugged down on the hose. Just tight enough that it doesn't move easily. Align one edge of the band clamp on the cut line of the hose for a guide. Then use a sharp box knife and cut using the band clamp as a guide.
Considering how smooth the tires are, I can better understand why Andrew was having so much trouble getting the roller up his hill. I admire your craftsmanship and ability to work in small spaces on massive equipment. Thanks for sharing this insightful video. Wishing you and your family a blessed week, gentle weather and restful evenings. Peace
@@ralfdahms1035 I wonder if Andrew could cut the side walls off the old tires, bolt - rivet - screw some bars of angle iron across the slicks and wrap them around the new tires as studded snow - ice covers? What ever happened to the broken chains from the ditch witch? Could they be adapted to winter ice chains?
I always thought the roller was powered but it doesn't look like it. good thing you parked next to the excavator for tire removal, loading onto the truck, etc.
I watched the risky recovery operation on Andrew's channel. I was worried one of those rusty cables would snap and the thing start downhill rolling everybody flat like ribbons
Dumpster Dave, this is the first video of yours that I watched. I'm wondering who edited it because it feels very much like an Andrew video, which is a good thing. Cheers.
I love when you get to see the job from different perspectives, great video Dave.
Great to see things that didn't show up on Andrews video and from a different perspective. good vid thanks
1:04:50 lololol after all that - Nice meeting you Dave fun times!
Nice meeting you, happy you’re still alive
I told you guys it was going to be a fun day!
Thank you helping out Andrew!
Dear Mr. Dumpster it is a pleasure seeing you working with Andrew
Nice one I like that camaraderie thing where all buddy's come together and help that is so so cool.
Yankee ingenuity along with thriftiness and work ethic is what makes these type channels so popular. I'm just saying.
Glad to see you guys decided to put some good tires on in the end......
Nice to listen into all their conversations without any cursing and complaining about having a time line or schedule to get the job done.
Hi Dave, cool to see Andrew has so many like minded people around him. Cool video especially because you can see the roller story from a different angle. Will follow you and your stories too. Greetings from Braunschweig in Germany
Like minded people?
I didn't see any unnecessary chainsaw or dog roundups 🤣
@@1bag 😁🫵👍
Great video. This was a nail biter. You were a big help, which Andrew needs more of. And Moss and Blue seem to get along this time.
Andrew doesn't "need" help but he sure could use some. And those that help will reap loads of benefit from it.
jeez the shenanigans we get up too when all of us get together and make a video is beyond amazing! Cameras filming each other, ignorable fires, full sending rollers up icy hills. fun times!!
O yeah, we all need to get together again, Maybe taking the roller down the mountain when it snows out haha 😂
Finally, someone to fix Andrews toys with out using a cutting torch.
17:19 NO 🤣
Ouch! true
50:22 maybe they didn’t use a cutting torch but they did roll it down a hill backwards, almost injuring/killing a friend. Andrew is reckless, he will cause a death eventually.
... and yet they did manage to set a few things on fire.
Or chainsaw
If you have a repair shop Andrew is a good client to have, he loves breaking stuff!
He has his OWN repair shop! He can break whatever he wants!

Great job Dave.... great to see the other parts of the ongoing story.....
Don't know if it works for all but shop sounds only and no narration works well with me. This deserves a sub & a thumb up 🙂
Thanks
Great work Dave.
What an adventure!! Fun to watch for sure but a long day for you guys.
thanks to you, I enjoyed watching... I'm proud of you for developing day by day.
With you all the way on this one! Good job!!Cheers!;-)!
Another Andrew’s machine with no brakes
You two make a great team. Been watching AC for sometime now and now I have you also. I enjoy your format. Working with tools and not working the mouth too much.
The last 30 minutes needs to have Shake Hands with Danger on repeat !
steel brake lines should be illegal ! Andrew has made that point very clear
Equipment and vehicles are built to sell parts and tools
Good video. You guys are so entertaining to watch. Love it from Canada
Good video, thanks for using the CC, make it a lot better for us old deaf people, teach Andrew how to do that.
We all turn it on but it’s RUclips that decides. I think if there’s a lot of noise like machines running it wouldn’t work.
This is the reason I started watching Andrew. Now I have to go to another channel to watch someone else repair his stuff..
Fantastic video. I watched Andrew's first, that was very sketchy. And a brilliant roller retrieval. Someone had heavy duty tackle. So cool to have it documented on YT.
Very cool. One thing is for sure you do not have worry about jacking anything up working on Andrew’s stuff.
Dave - you on 50K views and going UP....nice one...
Yes, 3. angle of what you did with Andrew and the group.
and 1 new follower for you, thanks
Awesome, thank you!
I love how Andrew put the hose cutter in the vise and said "this is probably how you're supposed to use this"... LoL
Nice job Dumpy! Great channel!
Finally a working guy's video without endless yacking about what and how much they know and yada yada yada...Imagonna do this and Immagonna do that...etc etc etc.
Everyone seems to have their own channel, apparently Andrew’s success has grown them like mushrooms in rain.
The tire is so light. You would think it was full of air. That is so funny
Enjoyed the video Dave
someone could have been hurt really bad. Glad there was a happy ending.
Crows foot wrenches are golden in certain places and times
Just a bunch of buddies hangin' in the man cave, putzing on Andrew's new roller. Doesn't get much better.
Dumpster Dave I think you did a good job. I like your work
Thanks

Yeah I would have been better off. Napa charged me $160
@@Dumpster_Dave I made some out of old welder leads. (10 ft at least) Best set of "homemade "jumper cables I ever had !!!! And cheaper in cost...
Man what a sh!tshow getting that roller up the mountain road😳😳 i wanted to change my own shorts after watching that..thanks Dave 👍🏻🍻
At work we have some telehandlers (lull, bobcat, pettibone) and we get the tires foam filled, makes them very heavy!

PVC is usually not rated for over 100 deg. May work for a while and blow apart when it's been hot for a while.
